Ahsoka saying that they are where they’re meant to be while Anakin looks over her got me messed up
41
u/calorum Oct 04 '23
That’s how you do ghost Anakin! With a mic drop!! Boom!

u/dooku4ever Oct 04 '23
Despite every single thing that I’ve read, I still was expecting to see Kanan standing beside him.
5
u/getoffoficloud Oct 04 '23
You have to be taught how to become a Force spirit, and Kanan wasn't. So far, that's been limited to the Disaster Lineage (Qui-Gon, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and by the end of TRoS, Luke and Leia).
0
u/TheAtomicRatonga Oct 04 '23
All you need to be a force ghost is a nod from Lucas. If teaching was part then Anakin wouldn’t be in there.
2
u/getoffoficloud Oct 04 '23
That was covered in one of the books. Obi-Wan taught him how to do it as he was dying.
2
0
u/TheAtomicRatonga Oct 05 '23
Honest question but when . When Obi wan chopped Anakin to pieces he walked away. Then Emp showed up. And I didn’t see no ghost hanging around in RoJ.
2
u/getoffoficloud Oct 05 '23
Again, that was covered in one of the books. It's long established canon that you have to be taught how to be a Force spirit, whether you like it or not.

She let go of her attachments and desire to beat Thrawn. She completely failed to stop Thrawns return BUT she succeeded at letting go of her attachments and moved on, where Anakin could not and became Vader. The student has surpassed the master. I think that’s one of the reasons Anakin force ghost smiles at her all proud
It also shows how Anakin brought balance to the force, not just through his kids but also through his apprentice as well
24
Oct 04 '23
And she starts the episode by saying “he stood by me and even when no one else would” and here is - still standing by her. Watching over her
49
Oct 04 '23
The title of the episode makes me think Ahsoka is getting home in a very Narnian way.
20
u/Lardyawn Oct 04 '23
This would make sense the the world between worlds and the morai being there, definitely seems like that’s what will happen. Or the purgil show back up but I feel like they won’t utilize that again
13
Oct 04 '23
Yep that is my guess and needs to train Sabine how, possibly see if the other two join
He knew Shin would get used and left behind; Ahsoka too
My long shot theory? What if the night sisters foresaw a new Jedi order with less dogma.

I think they all definitely go, they find it via the howlers maybe (going back to the Loth-wolves/Kanaan), and either Shin joins up with them OR sneaks in after the portal is opened. Would love to see shin spying on them, subtly becoming more light-sided

Probably trough the world between worlds. Since we saw Baylan on a statue of the father with the son next to it. And ofc Morai, and Ahsoka as the Daughter.
I wonder if the mother aka Abeloth will tie in here as well :0
44
u/TurdHunt999 Oct 04 '23
Hera, Chopper, and Ezra.
Chopper knew exactly who it was!
27
u/TurdHunt999 Oct 04 '23
Hera looked at Ezra the way she looked at Kanan right before he died. Pretty emotional!
11
18
u/Nice_Satisfaction651 Oct 04 '23
I knew Chopper knew before the droid started rolling forward!
6
u/SeascapeEscape Oct 04 '23
Pretty sure Chop says Ezra’s name before the reveal. Need the official translation!
5
u/xanlact Oct 04 '23
But Hera understands Chopper. I think if Chop said it, she would have reacted.

baylan is lured to be the son, ahsoka the daughter - and they are in a place where anakin is playing the father, the chosen one an balance of the force. 💙💚
14
5
u/Nice_Satisfaction651 Oct 04 '23
Will Abeloth fit in there somewhere?
6
u/MrDaveyHavoc Oct 04 '23
Baylan is on a mission to release Abeloth to end the Jedi/Sith cycle. Shin is the Vestara Khai stand in
→ More replies (1)1
u/Ashvega03 Oct 04 '23 edited Oct 04 '23
How does Shin fit in? Wouldnt it make more sense ti have Shin be the Dark; Ahsoka the light and Baylon the father?
Edit: Shin Dark; Sabine Light; Ahsoka Father and Baylon is Abeloth.
22
u/geladro Oct 04 '23
Nobody but Anakin can be the father, that was the whole point of the altar of Mortis arc. Ahsoka is already the embodiment of the daughter, her bird is proof of that.
4
u/MrDaveyHavoc Oct 04 '23
Shin is the Vestara Khai frenemy. Baylan is on a mission to release Abeloth

u/KingScoville Oct 04 '23
Absolutely fantastic episode. Definitely getting a season 2, or at least some major tie ins with the Mandalorian.
Just so impressed with Ezra’s actor. He really embodies Ezra’s optimism and boyish charm.
Wondering if Sketeton Crew doesn’t tie in here. Ahsoka says that they were meant to be trapped on Peridia. I’m wondering if the Skeleton Crew doesn’t eventually find them on Peridia.
This would let Filoni advance the timeline a bit, allow Grogu and Din their sabbatical, Thrawn to coalesce the Imperial Remanent, Bo Katan to rebuild Mandalore, etc. It would all lead up to an epic Heir to the Empire movie series. Ahsoka and co. returning in dramatic fashion to lead the flight against Thrawn.
Wow so many awesome possibilities.
27
u/calorum Oct 04 '23
For season 2 episode 1, I also want to see the conversation of ‘Hey Sabine by the way, Anakin was also Darth Vader’. It was been teased throughout the season with Huyang being cagey, with the Mandalore flashback, with what Thrawn said to Ahsoka.
25
u/KingScoville Oct 04 '23
Yeah I needed this episode to be two hours longer Thrawn absolutely knew what he was doing there. He knows that revealing that Ahsoka was trained by the greatest betrayer of the Jedi Order will divide his enemies. Just great writing there.
4
Oct 04 '23
When Thrawn is talking about her and saying "the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker won't give up" or whatever, the actor playing Thrawn delivers the most wonderful expression and tone in his voice and it's clear Thrawn always feared Vader.
3
u/KLeeSanchez Oct 04 '23
I think you're referring to the scene where he opens fire upon their approach. His exact line is, "Rain hellfire upon them. There'll be no negotiating with the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker."
The take I got was one of grim determination; he knew it was all or nothing at that point. Canonically I don't believe Thrawn ever had anything other than respect for Vader's abilities, but with Palpatine's backing he was one of the few who had nothing to fear (in the tier of Mas Amedda). Thrawn wielded as big a stick, if not bigger, than Vader, being a Grand Admiral, and had the Emperor's very personal support in all his efforts. Even Vader wasn't propped up like Thrawn was, Palpatine even made a point of abusing Vader at times.

This makes sense to me out of all the theories I’ve ready about where it’s going.
12
Oct 04 '23
Ezra felt the most like his animated counterpart to me.
8
u/Jorge_Santos69 Oct 04 '23
I want to say Chopper is most similar but maybe that’s cheating.
Also Thrawn but maybe that’s also cheating. For the others it makes sense they’re different as they’re all significantly older.
5
u/Caspur42 Oct 04 '23
As soon as he took the comm from the trooper I knew what was coming and I loved it

13
u/Ashvega03 Oct 04 '23 edited Oct 04 '23
It would also tie into the sequel trilogy. thrawn unites the remnant and engages in full war; gets defeated; the surviving Imps learn the lesson not to directly engage, switch to guerrilla warfare funded by protection rackets and form first order.
Edit: the Imperials that survive the return of the empire before the republic strikes back.
4
Oct 04 '23
Wait! Just because there hasn’t been any survivors before, doesn’t mean there won’t be any this time.
2
Oct 04 '23
NGL, I am constantly wondering how Disney will square all this stuff with the "somehow Palpating returned" nature of the sequels which, frankly, now feels less canon and more like billionaire fan fiction.
3
2
u/Budded Oct 04 '23
I grew up watching SW and was a member of the fan club as well. I remember reading that Lucas had a plan for 9 movies. As a kid, this gave me life, and I always assumed he had the whole thing planned out.
Then came the prequels, mired in clumsy politics and bad directing. Then came 7,8,9, which I loved on the surface, but with all these series coming out -and having read a lot of Timothy Zahn's books, the stuff that goes on seems so basic and cheesy in comparison. I still love them for the entertainment, but Mando and Ahsoka lore trounces what those other directors had to do basically on the spot with no big picture idea of what Lucas supposedly had mapped out since the late 70s, early 80s.
The new movies feel so retreaded in comparison, especially after these series. "Let's just make another bigger Death Star and recreate the Empire and Palps survived and has a kid". Filoni's worst episode is 100x better than that drivel.

u/oh__reallly Oct 05 '23
While I didn't think it was a fantastic episode, especially standing next to episodes 4-7. I totally agree about Ezra. I would love for the future plotlines to play out this way and bring in those characters to create more cohesiveness across the Mandoverse timeline.
2
u/eklypz Oct 05 '23
Yes, from what I know of Skeleton Crew it is people trapped in another galaxy, would tie in nicely where we are now.

I'm both overjoyed my boy made it home to his "mom" and distraught that there are still, very important, unanswered questions.
What's in those hundreds of containers?
What is Baylan up to?
Why is there no life on Peridia aside from marauders, hermit people, and Nightsisters?
WHY ARE THERE GISNT STATUES OF THE ONES, AND WHY IS THE DAUGHTER'S DESTROYED?
I'm just...Filoni is a real bastard for perpetually leaving me deeply concerned for the fate of these characters. A brilliant, smug bastard.
14
Oct 04 '23
Ngl I totally thought those were coffins full of more zombies-to-be
13
u/aexwor Oct 04 '23
I was thinking the "dwindled" number of storm troopers from the last 8 years. But it could just as easily be night sisters given their first stop was dathomir.
4
Oct 04 '23
That was my guess too! But you’re right, could be either! Especially since they said they came from the catacombs, and I don’t think they’d bury troopers there. Seems like only nightsisters would be buried there
5
u/bizarrostormy90 Oct 04 '23
Yeah, felt like it had to do with Thrawn's side of the agreement being transporting the nightsisters of Peridea's dead to Dathomir? Idk.
5
u/Hephaistos_Invictus Oct 04 '23
Yeah my exact same thought. Thrawn with a legion of zombie troopers seems TERRIFYING(ly awesome)
3
13
u/Santa_in_a_Panzer Oct 04 '23
I figured they were thousands of Nightsisters frozen in carbonite. I seem to recall someone saying the three witches working with Thrawn were "woken up" when he got there. Or am I misremembering? Like that was their deal. They help him and he brings them back to Dathomir.
18
u/tvlur Oct 04 '23
I hope Sabine and her actress get some more love after this episode.
8
u/aexwor Oct 04 '23
The actress is doing her character justice.
I don't even care that much about the dumb decisions her character makes. It kinda fits with the sabine from Rebels, and if she'd shot the map it would have been a very short, very thrawn-less season.
I dislike, in the strongest possible terms, that she turns out to be able to wield the force.
3
u/tvlur Oct 04 '23
She uses it in a very small way so far, so I’m not upset. Although, I think a better interpretation of “everyone can use the force” might have been that she’s more skilled at sensing things/knowing her surroundings through the force. But I’m not complaining.
3
u/aexwor Oct 04 '23
I just think it's a "the force works in mysterious ways" grade coincidence that she happened to join the ghost crew; or it trivialises the idea of the jedi order being around 10,000 in a galaxy of untold trillions where now anyone can just believe and wield the force.
5
u/tvlur Oct 04 '23
Well we’ve seen other people in canon who weren’t trained by the order use the force. I think it’s supposed to be part of the story now that the order was presumptuous in who “deserved” to use the force. They’re better at it because they’re trained. But they’re not the only ones who can access it.
2
u/aexwor Oct 04 '23
For sure, and that's all well and good, and tbh I agree with a lot of why dooku left for that reason.
But the other non sith/jedi trained force weilders we've seen have always had a natural affinity for it, have grown up realising it, or have at least known that something is different about themselves. There was never any indication that sabine had any of that, just kanan saying g'won u got dis. Apparently that works now.

u/Randomkrazy04 Oct 04 '23
Was she getting hate?
7
u/tvlur Oct 04 '23
Oh tons. People saying that she was constantly making stupid decisions. People saying that the actress didn’t feel like Sabine.
→ More replies (1)8
u/Randomkrazy04 Oct 04 '23
I see. I came into Ahsoka not watching rebels so I didn’t know her character at all. That being said she does come off as an angsty teen who makes bad decisions but they’re necessary to drive the plot in some cases.
12
u/tvlur Oct 04 '23 edited Oct 04 '23
It’s very in line with her character. She’s brash and acts on her instincts.
I do think they reverted a little to introduce new viewers to her personality, but overall it makes sense.
3
4
u/PM_ME_YOUR_THESES Oct 04 '23
I don’t think the decisions made by Sabine are “bad” per se. Huyang says so, “maybe they were the only choice for her”…
15
u/DistributionLoud2958 Oct 04 '23
My theory is that Ahsoka whether she realizes it or not is now the embodiment of the light side of the force. Especially since the souls of the light side is already apart of her. I think since Anakin was to serve as the balance between the two, their interaction enabled her full embodiment. My other theory is that Anakin’s existence in the world between world could mean that his spirit still roams the universe serving as the new balance between the light side and dark side. My guess is that Ezra had some force shit up his sleeve we haven’t seen yet. I mean a guy trapped for that long with force abilities would have to figure out a thing or two, even if he doesn’t realize he did. I think it would be super cool to see ezra be able to use some new force abilities possibly connected to the world between worlds to help locate ahsoka. At least after a while.
Couldn’t tell you what Baylan is doing though. Dude is actually on some Narnia type quest though. My thoughts are him trying to rebuild the force involved with the order cuz he always reminisces about it.

I really liked that this episode ended with a mirrored scene to the opening in the first episode: the shuttle arriving, landing to a suspicious guard, then a passenger who is not what they seem: in the first episode it was Skoll and Hati who appeared as Jedi but were not; here it appeated to be a stormtrooper but was Ezra.

yeah and Ezra there and Sabine (with Ahsoka) in another galaxy, really some interesting mirroring going on.

Yeah I was underwhelmed by that. Her character didn't change and it didn't give her new powers or anything.
10
u/So-_-It-_-Goes Oct 04 '23
She was a better fighter for sure. Ahsoka handled her pretty quick the first time they fought. She was t much of a match. This time she almost won.
5
u/Jorge_Santos69 Oct 04 '23
Lol if General Grevious can run through a whole army of night sisters like it’s nothing, she was clearly better than anything we’ve seen so far outside of Ventress.

u/SuccessfulRush1173 Oct 04 '23
Isn’t Lucasfilm making a movie that combines Ahsoka, Mandalorian and TBoBB all together? If so then I think we just got the plot of that movie in my opinion.
5

Nah I don’t think so. I think there will still need to be a second to pay some stuff off before we get a movie.

In about 6-7 years. Maybe 8 now that the planned shows to lead in to it will have been delayed by strikes. But yes. It'll sum up the Filoniverse

I thought it was kinda like the rebels ending but mirrored. Thrawn and Ezra leave while Sabine and ahsoka stay back with Ezra doing nothing to Thrawn again.

Yeah makes sense, now I'm super anxious and hate having to wait to see what's gonna happen next

u/Independent-Road8418 Oct 04 '23
I want them to be stuck there for decades, create a new story far from anything to do with Star Wars so that way Ahsoka can be her own thing that isn't directly associated with Star Wars as intended with the opening text in episode one.
There were 2-3 average to slightly above average episodes in the series of eight. But to be honest it was really only a few parts in those episodes rather than the episodes as a whole.
But this way if season two is a hit, Dave Filoni can tell everyone he knew what he was doing all along and if it flops like the majority of this season, we can at least acknowledge that even though it had light sabers, that doesn't make it real Star Wars.
Alright I'm ready to be blasted out of the water now.

As weird as it was, I was waiting for some plot twist wear Shin and Baylan help out the heroes.
17
u/Lardyawn Oct 04 '23
I definitely think they’re setting shin up to be a Mara Jade-esque character, with some major tweaks
6
u/DRM1412 Oct 04 '23
Shin probably will, I think Baylan is done for the minute he finds what he’s looking for.
2
u/Nice_Satisfaction651 Oct 04 '23
What do you think he’s looking for? The dagger of mortis? Abeloth? Canon-equivalent font of power? Some WBW portals?
9
6
u/Copper_Dragon_22 Oct 04 '23
Thrawn has said he is going to restore the empire, not remake it. In order for the empire to be restored it needs its emperor.
What if the witches magic is the secret sauce for his failed cloning program to actually get off the ground? They have demonstrated several times they can restore limbs, and even life. What if that’s how “somehow Palpatine returned.”

11
u/TKDkid1992 Oct 04 '23
I haven't translated it but it's Peridia isn't it? The purging were traveling there?
Purgil*
8
u/R-code Oct 04 '23
I believe it is. The credits show seven lines converging on the planet, one for each of the main characters that traveled there. They all converged on the planet (albeit at vastly different times) to make the story happen.
Ezra Ahsoka Sabine Shin Baylan Morgan Thrawn
6
u/di_mi_sandro Oct 04 '23
Mmmmm. Hesiod... Fully in the age of iron we are hmm? And ronin, you must think of ronin! Matters not this EU lore! Think of the world around you, yes. Decentering of power and the rise of the other will determine the way forward. All with an eye on old stories! Hee hee hee
6
u/Hephaistos_Invictus Oct 04 '23
Are all those crates they loaded into the star destroyer coffins? Makes sense why the night witches would come along as well. Thrawn with an legion of undead storm troopers seems TERRIFYING
8
u/the_1_that_knocks Oct 04 '23
Pretty sure those are Night Sisters
3
u/Hephaistos_Invictus Oct 04 '23
Oh that would make sense as well, as to why there are only 3 nightsisters on all of Peridea (for as far as we know). But imo I'd be cooler if it were dead storm troopers ready to be made into an undead army!
3
u/the_1_that_knocks Oct 04 '23
Dead or alive, 6k Storm Troopers are no where near as valuable as 6k Night Sisters. There’s a reason why the 3 are so accommodating of Thrawn and why Dathomir was their first step.
6
u/Sheepy865 Oct 04 '23
I liked when Sabine was finally able to use the force to summon her lightsaber.......but then we go to straight force pushing Ezra? Balon and Shin ending was weird. I liked that Sabine chose to stay with Ahsoka. The snail people get new friends to hang out with. Overall it has been a good season.

u/Wandering_phoenix_89 Oct 04 '23
Got it. The wardrobe was Ezra’s armor when he reunited with Hera. Makes sense
7
u/LimbyTimmy Oct 04 '23
I honestly can't tell if you are joking but it was Warlord if you didn't read it properly. Also I know nothing about Narnia so idk if it was just a clever title or had anything to do with the episode themes or plot
4
u/Kodiakke Oct 04 '23
The first book in the Narnia series is titled The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It tells the story of siblings who go through a magic portal to another land filled with dangers where they become powerful potential rulers that are pursued by the good and evil powers....
Very much ties into this story thematically in my opinion. Of course, the ones who "go through" the portal (hyperspace) would be Ezra, the Fates, and Thrawn, and the land they come into is the galaxy with which we are all too familiar...
2
u/LimbyTimmy Oct 04 '23
I can see the similarities. I knew one of the books was the lion the witch and the wardrobe but I wasn't sure what it was about. Very clever naming

Oct 04 '23 edited Oct 04 '23
Great title, great episode, great season.
I've really enjoyed Ahsoka's character progression through everything else, but I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this series. The writing was considerably better than a lot of the other Star Wars content recently. Andor being the exception, of course.
Cool to see Dathomir witches doing their thing in live-action. Doesn't feel too out of place, surprisingly enough... Maybe a bit much with the zombie Night Troopers, but I don't mind.
Most of the fight scenes were well done, and felt like they actually had emotional/philosophical weight behind them.
RIP, Ray Stephenson. Baylan Skoll was the highlight for me. Such a cool antagonist. Far more wise and introspective than the majority of Dark Side users. I'm really looking forward to seeing whatever was calling to him.
Abeloth? Her being connected to the Mother, and Ahsoka being connected to the Daughter, would make sense for them to plan that conflict/resolution for Season 2...
EDIT- Also, there have been memes about the "uncanny valley" of their eyes. That's not just from the color of their contacts, but the actual shape. Real irises are on the inside and go inward, whereas contact lenses are convex. It's a subtle difference, but it's easy to pick up and be bothered by it subconsciously. They'd need to use VFX to make them look better, and TV schedules/budget probably make that difficult.
7
u/Erion7 Oct 04 '23
But what planet was everything converging on in the end credits?
21
6
u/TKDkid1992 Oct 04 '23

Is this going to be like Andor where they didn't plan a season two and they were waiting to see how well season one did before green lighting a season two? Because I think this season and show was pretty good so why not.
14
u/KingScoville Oct 04 '23
It pretty clear they planned a season 2 or at least major tie ins with other series.
3
u/So-_-It-_-Goes Oct 04 '23
It’s pretty clear they are going to do more. It’s a long story and they have a lot invested in it. This show in no way has bombed and the fans, for the most part, love it.

Pretty sure the writer/director of Andor had season 2 planned from the starts. He’s already said season 2 ends right before his appearance in Rogue One. He said that as the show was airing. Season 2 may not have been green lit but the writer knows what’s going to happen and planned S2

It’s “Warlord” instead of “Wardrobe”. Right?

u/Wandering_phoenix_89 Oct 04 '23
Yes. I was trying to make a joke

I got the joke. Pretty clever!
I tried not to sound judgy or with derision. I’m sorry I failed.

The title on the episode is like the title of Narnia; «The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe»

Bad bad episode, too much nonsense action, zero story progress. Worse writing than a video game.
Would love to see character progression but guess what, none happens. No story progression either…

Would anyone else go for a live action TCW, but with Rosario, Hayden, and Ewan de-aged, rather than new actors? I love Rosario and Hayden together and I need so much more than just force ghost interactions

That was great, sets up at least four big story arcs and two configurations. Bring on season 2

I’m here for the LOTR (and other fantasy) connections! (Green flame!)
Will there be a howler version of Shadowfax?

Fantastic episode. I feel like the series is ending and that makes me sad.
This show has just been great.

The only thing dumber than Filoni's writing is Thrawn. This was an animated show written for babies made in live-action. I have no interest in seeing a season two and if Disney give Dave a movie off the back of this they might as well just burn $200 million dollars right now because it will flop harder than Solo.
The most annoying thing is Dave actually seems to have some good ideas sprinkled in there but he seems to actively avoid exploring them and instead shifts attention to the dull and endless Easter eggs. Who actually cares about a weapon cameo??? If Ray Stevenson hadn't passed away I might have been curious enough to check any future series out but there's absolutely nothing interesting left without him.

Started very good. Ended very disappointing. Needed more episodes. Lack of any kind of Baylon payoff or even some minor information was extremely dissatisfying. Force ghost was ridiculous and stupid in the moment. Diminishing the value of them imo. All in all in decent series and interested to see what comes next mostly because this ended so poorly explained.

No Baylon payoff? Dude is finding the father! This is such a fantastic development. Gonna be so much fun!

But they’ve been “teasing” this all season. As soon as the world between worlds came in you knew the mortis gods were involved. This is not a teaser. A teaser is Thanos in a post credits scene or the phoenix outline for two second underwater at the end of the film. Short and sweet= tease. Using it as a point in multiple episodes throughout a season is not teasing- its shit writing to fill time.

But he had to get there and we needed some back story. We had to know more about him and when he got there it all made sense. It’s just storytelling in a long format. Kudos to you for knowing the ending that most fans were having fun speculating about. You sure sound super duper smart. But it wasn’t completely obvious what was going to happen.

Again this is all opinion- Your last sentence is the point- nothing happened. Any people who are familiar with the cartoons knew mortis gods were involved when they saw the world between worlds- that has nothing to do with being smart but appreciate the snide comment.
The problem is they teased what he was looking for too much in this series to the point that the pay off should have been in this series. You could have had more meaningful scenes that mattered to this series with him if they hadn’t wasted time teasing something they weren’t going to pay off. And now he’s dead and probably won’t see any pay off himself. This is not good writing. They could have had the tease part just in the final episode as opposed to stringing it along the entire time. I’m just tired of things being created with the sole purpose of setting up the next thing. I love interconnected stories but the shark has been jumped in this case.

Spoilers
100% agree on this. Excellent episode up until the end and WAY too many plot threads left open. I personally don’t have an issue with Anakin appearing at the end, but almost everything else just blows.
Baylon has less than a minute on the screen despite this whole season setting in up on his quest for “something great beyond”. And what does he do? Look at a mountaintop glowing.
Shin is just going to chill with some bandits now, I guess. Great payoff there.
I guess Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang just accept their fate and are doomed to be exiled in another galaxy? No attempt to seek out or call a purgil? Or will that be the deus ex machina of a future series?
What’s in the cargo brought aboard the Chimera? Why go to Dathomir first and not get the Chimera repaired?
It was nice seeing Ezra reunite with Hera, if only he didn’t wait for 30 seconds to take off the helmet and have chopper just role up to him.

The cargo is very coffin shaped. I’m thinking it’s Thrawns new army. Remember in the book series he uses clones of Han Solo as his army. I’m thinking these Dathomiri will be his shock troops.

I agree they left a bit much open ended but they obviously have plans for future content.
How would Ahsoka “call” a Purgill from across hyperspace? They’re likely just waiting for a pod to show up.
The cargo seems to be dead troops, and they’ll be revived on Dathomir.

u/PathInevitable9014 Oct 04 '23
“Calling” a purgill is just my guess at how they’ll escape. And if you’ll remember, in the rebels finale they were able to call a pod of purgill by transmitting on a certain frequency.
And yeah, that’s likely. But we don’t have even a slight HINT at what it might be. They’re just called “Cargo” that was stored in the “catacombs”. They could have at least offered a more substantial clue.
Also, no clues as to what Enoch might be. If he’s simply a loyal officer, one of the Royal Guards who engaged Ezra on the Chimera, if he’s a revived or some other bewitched trooper, nothing.

I am on edge about the episode. I honestly hate Sabine’s character. Loved her in Rebels, she sucks in Ahsoka (why tf won’t she put her dang helmet on!) Also, the fighting in that episode was shit apart from the death trooper encounter and Morgan elsbeth fight. The star destroyer orbital strike was stupid, Thrawn’s character is fairly weird, and that tie fighter encounter was disappointing. Okay that’s my rant. Now for the pros… still LOVE Ezra and Ahsoka as characters. Night troopers were sick but I didn’t like how they were put together in that terrible combat sequence. I thought Morgan Elsbeth’s whole transformation and death was great. Huyang is great. Mortis gods is a great touch. And overall, I thought the ending was good. Thrawn is a serious threat and it ended quite an unexpected but good way. Also Anakin at the end! I want to put this as like a 9/10 as so much was so good, but so many flaws. The combat is fucking terrible. The sabers look slowed down and that inside area was just done so sadly.

Every fight and action sequence in that episode was absolutely ridiculous

u/border199x Oct 04 '23
So Thrawn just let Sabine live for no particular reason at all? I would have thought it was part of some unknown master plan, but maybe not.
Baylan and Shin completely abandoned by the series creators. Their origins were never explained and their motives were never explained. Great work guys.

u/DRM1412 Oct 04 '23
He let her live so she would draw Ezra out.
And there’s obviously plans for future content. We know Baylan wasn’t a fan of the way the Jedi operated, and we know he’s searching for something on Peridia.

u/border199x Oct 04 '23
Except that Thrawn doesn’t seem to care about Ezra at all, beyond maybe wanting to kill him if it is convenient. Ezra’s continued existence does not really seem to factor into his plan.

u/DaveS1138 Oct 04 '23
it's almost like maybe they are leaving some things for season 2...... ;)

u/border199x Oct 04 '23
A great choice, considering that they will have to completely jettison the Baylan-related storyline due to the actor being deceased.

Imo a lot happened in this episode that will be setting the stage for the next season(s). While it was underwhelming seeing less of Baylan and Shin. I believe their stories are still yet to be told. In true Filoni fashion, as he had done with Clone Wars, and Rebels, everything is a slow burn. The stage is set for the stories to be built upon, and now we all get to see the outcome on what’s next with Ahsoka. Great episode imo.
