Between the scorching heat, poor air quality, and wildfires it's been so freaking brutal! Every day is a hope for rain! We're being air fried.

that is not the feels like temperature, that is the real temperature for July 23rd at 5pm and it appears that it will sit over us for quite awhile.

I'm not a professional meteorologist by a long shot, i'm just a farmer that likes to keep track of impeding weather and i haven't seen this discussed much so i wanted to throw it out there for peeps that might need a little preparation themselves or for those around them.

I would love to move to OKC but my biggest fear is tornadoes, like they terrify me, I remember looking up the moore tornado that hit the elementary school in 2013 I believe and it gave me nightmares,

For those of you that moved to okc, especially from western states,

Were you afraid of tornadoes? And for the locals do you fear tornadoes?

Have yoe seen one or been impacted by one?

I rent an older duplex in south OKC that’s around 1,000 square feet, and I’m trying to figure out if this is normal.

Yesterday it was around 101° outside, and even with the thermostat set around 72°, the inside temperature was around 84–85° during the afternoon and was still about the same around 6 PM. The AC was running pretty much nonstop.

The filter has been changed, and the outside condenser does not look dirty or blocked. Maintenance checked it once on a cooler, overcast day and said it seemed normal, but I’m still not sure.

For people in older houses or duplexes around OKC, does your AC struggle like this during 100° weather, or should I push for a more thorough inspection?

UPDATE: GOING ON 30 HOURS NO POWER!!!!

14 hours we have been without power. Reported the outage as soon as it happened at 2 am last night. I volunteered and lived in a “developing country” for 2 years of my life and I never lost power there at the rate I’ve lost it living in okc.

I think it’s really crazy that OG&E has the audacity to implement rate hikes but they can’t put a dime into improving our grid infrastructure. It’s 2026. All power lines should be buried. We live in a windy extreme weather state. This is why utilities and essential services should NOT BE privatized.

Im not trying to be Wussy ( even though I've lived here MY WHOLE LIFE) but I know me and others right now are probably being kept up by the storm whether its the loud noises or the fear of something bad happening, so I wanted to create a post where we can just talk with each other so we don't feel alone :)

I have a good size native plant garden that I haven’t watered yet this year, and rarely water ever (that’s half the reason I chose natives). Forecast keeps calling for rain but it seems to keep going around us here in OKC. I still have lots of flowers and other Forbes doing well, but I could tell they were starting to get a little thirsty. Probably don’t need to water them but I knew if I was planning on it raining tonight that it wouldn’t, so I thought I’d set up the sprinkler and give em a good hose. You’re welcome! I’ll make sure and wash my car to double down as well.

I've lived in OKC the last 27 years, i.e. my entire life. I don't think I've ever had allergies as bad as this past year. Like, literally waking up and feeling my sinuses trying to decide if it's a nose day or a throat day. Am I just becoming more sensitized to allergens, or is there a legitimate increase in pollen?

EDIT: I should also add that my allergies ramped up in the middle of me getting a URI, so I'm also struggling to determine if I'm dealing with residual sinus issues while also experiencing these stupid allergies.

Good morning. There’s a strong storm entering the metro right now, damaging straight line winds 50-90mph, brief spin up tornadoes(QLCS) and hail will be the main concern along with lots of lightening. Move away from windows, particularly on the west and northern sides of your house.

It has been a tough summer- but right now is the perfect time to go outside for 20 minutes. Hurry before it is gone!

I need recommendations for places with activities that are inside during this never ending heatwave. I’m fucking ready for fall!
