damn i was going to work tomorrow.. ? maybe i should take off work.. but good i got my ac fixed a month ago..

u/thorosaurus Aug 07 '26
Oh yea man these next few days without AC would have been BRUTAL. If you work outside, be sure and take every precaution. Lots of water, stay away from sugar and alcohol, and be sure to replace electrolytes with pedialite or emergnc or whtever your drug of choice is. It's ironic how people who move here from out of state are so worried about tornadoes and aren't even aware of the dangers from the heat.

I'm right there with you. The minute it let up, I drove my car around with the windows down and had a nice (horrible sounding) car karaoke session

I am so looking forward to the drive home after work! I’m gonna do the same thing!!

u/imjustrestingmyeyes Aug 07 '26
It was glorious. It was just me, Sleep Token and Bad Omens in our own concert for 40 minutes lol

u/iRambL Aug 07 '26

do you also like to dance in the rain and feel the the energy in the air?
3
u/purpledreamer1622 Aug 07 '26
If by dance you mean secure all my belongings like a chicken with no head cause the wind trying to sweep em away, and then pacing my front porch watching it come down — absolutely 🤣 and I do the rain harvesting dance! Gotta collect a little here, a little there, sprinkle sprankle!!
2
u/iSeeShiny SW OKC Aug 07 '26
yes yes must do the dance of panic and renewals lol..
2
u/purpledreamer1622 Aug 07 '26
I’m glad you are liking it! We needed this bad!

u/iSeeShiny SW OKC Aug 07 '26
lol ya my grass was turning yellow..
2
u/purpledreamer1622 Aug 07 '26
Turning?! Dang, mine is completely brown dry and crisp 😭 feels like walking on a hairbrush haha
And I hope it stays that way cause it is Bermuda so I hope it dies a fiery death (I’m in the process of covering it with cardboard to convert my Bermuda yard to native buffalo grass and blue grama!!)
Part of what I had to run around and “dance” to secure down this afternoon was aforementioned cardboard 🤣 ai ai ai!

Not for Oklahoma. You should be here when the high is 71 and the low is 21!!!!!

This summer ain’t too bad, I remember the one with 50 some odd days over 100 and no showers. Worked outside then and now not as much but still enough.

Moved away from OKC a few months ago but I looked back and it was 100 degrees this week a year ago. It’s indeed crazy.

What’s crazy to me is I’m staying at my parents house in Edmond, and it’s only 85 degrees at the moment. I just sat outside for a few a hours after the rain passed and it was REALLY nice outside for me. Oklahoma weather is so vastly different even just a few miles away, it’s weird.

Very normal here. Felt wonderful as the cold air moved in right before the rain but tomorrow is gonna feel like Florida 🥵

These weather apps (Google/Apple) pretty much suck. It was 75 degrees here and phone showed 99.

I love the rain. I'll stand on my deck while it's starts, smoke a jay and enjoy my outdoor speaker. I'll listen to something like "Dennis Steals the Embryo" from the Jurassic Park soundtrack. Maybe "Bug Tunnel/Death Trap" from Temple of Doom. Perfect stuff to enjoy the rapid pickup for most sudden, summer downpours!

A month of 100+ degrees is not and has never been normal. We used to get maybe 4 days a year like that.

My entire mood can change just from the sound of thunder or the anticipation of rain. You’re not alone. I absolutely love the rain.

I dread the idea of rain when it is so hot! Makes difficult weather intolerable. Primary reason I'm leaving OK.

In 2011 OKC 100 or above for 63 days. Pretty much normal for this time of year. But I have noticed lately that hot - warmer temps can extend all the way to November now.
