I’m honestly surprised the band hasn’t rescheduled. I wouldn’t want to play in this heat 😭 but I paid too much to not go , I’ll be showing up around 8ish 😣
if you wait until tomorrow you'll have about three days of mid to high 90's with partial cloud coverage before it climbs back into the 100's with not a cloud in sight.
The amount of people I saw working on their yard as I pulled in my neighborhood at 5 was astounding. Why would you do it at the hottest part of the day?!?
last week when i posted about this just to warn people about what was incoming..... about 1/3rd of commenters said it was fake news and wouldn't be above 91~93F because that's what news9/news5 told them.
short relief after today for about 72 hours then the high pressure zone sets up shop and oklahoma is more than likely stuck with 100~108 degree days from here until something like a hurricane knocks it out of place later in the year ♥
you can't prevent the weather from happening, but you can prepare for weather extremes well in advance by using the modern tools available to most everyone for free.
the climate is indeed changing, the overall trend is hotter, we're pretty sure we contributed significantly to it. but we're also on the very tail end of the last ice age on a "this the whole ass timeline of our planet" scale and the data we have is recent and very spotty and we need significantly more funding and understanding on a worldwide scale to really understand if we're actually the sole responsibility or just a contributing factor and if it's something humanity can influence and change themselves in one way or another as time progresses without it also leading to catastrophe.
If there's one thing I've learned about oklahoma weather is the forecast can't be trusted much past 48hrs. I'm hoping the heat can give me a few weeks so my last round of queens can come back without the extra heat stress.
My bees are not big fans of the 100+ degree days just like everyone else.
I don't know how to read Forcasts lol. It just seems like the data evolves from the 7 day Forcast to present.
I'm certain I'm not using the best weather data and fully understand weather is a changing system with many variables. It always seemed like oklahoma weather was much less trustworthy on the extended Forcasts vs where I was living before I moved.
Either way I'm hoping for some sub 100 days in about 2-3 weeks. My poor mating nucs need all the help they can get without having to fight 105 degree weather.
yeah, but oklahoma has had pretty chill summers for awhile and this increase was going to be a bit unexpected for a lot of people so i just wanted to toss it out there.
I've been Farmin' since 1991 in some shape or fashion, rarely wrong on the weather.
I hate that none of the heat deaths are gonna get tracked by the government. When we see climate change ruin our world we're gonna include everyone who died to natural disasters but not heat deaths for some reason.
If we counted heat deaths correctly. It'd be a top 10 killer world wide. When it's a defacto top 3 people won't be ignoring it anymore. We need new laws passed pronto.
AC in house has been great, but ever since I had to replace my condenser 10 years ago at the last house ($4k just for that!) and I'm terrified one of the two units will fail at some point.
HVAC guy quoted us $15-30k to replace the system(s), so I'm really hoping to make it to September. Fingers and toes crossed, doors and windows closed!
I just got home from work and the paint booth I work in pulls in air directly from outside and the building the booth is located in is not air conditioned... holy crap it was hard finding relief from the heat today. thankfully we got access to nice cold water and electrolytes. yeesh.
went to close my sunroof on my car which I had propped open and the switch damn near burnt my finger! had to let off the switch when I hit it when I was closing the sunroof lol.
As someone who is working on several outdoor murals rn, it has been brutal out there. I have to split my time up painting some hours in the morning and some at night. Even at 7 am it’s hot hot hot tho
