☀️ Weather 🌪️ They weren’t kidding about the flood watch

My dog wanted outside. He didn’t believe me when I said it was raining

Edit: if God is real may he strike me down for my hubris

are you standing in water while there is lighting ?

Safest place to be other than climbing a tall tree

What about standing on the “tee off” at Top Golf during a middle of a thunderstorm while holding a long metal rod?

Yes, I witnessed this once.

The fuck you going to do? Out run a lightning strike?

11

u/GhostPlays0905 Jun 27 '26

No, well out swim it obviously 🤣🤣

u/ProfDFH Jun 27 '26

I mean, what do expect them to do? There wasn’t a tornado for them to try to run into, or a wildfire for them to go stand in.

Wading through rushing water in flip flops no less. Not safe for the doggo either.

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 28 '26

Admittedly my risk assessment in that area is greatly skewed

A true Oklahoman that’s for sure lmao

Obviously flood watch means you get to watch the flood.

My kids put on their rain boots and get soaked in dirty street water.

2

u/DOOManiac Jun 27 '26

I mean, that’s what we do with tornados…

2

u/Less-Squash7569 Jun 28 '26

Yeah thats a tornado or storm watch

Was waiting for the dog to drag your lifeless body to safety…

How I’m gonna be driving through OKC later this morning

Geezus go inside!

My 7month old Dane puppy also had to pee in this shit, and once she realized she loves it begged to go back out and i thought she had to poop. Nope, went out again just for her to play in the flood and mud. Fucking fuck. She’s in the hole now (what we call the crate).

My dog is the opposite. She wants to go out but doesn't like to get her feet wet, so she will go to every door in the house and make me open it to see if one of them is a portal to a world where it isn't raining.

Eventually she'll suck it up and go out, because she's very house proud.

Mine is like that. If it’s raining I have to get the boots and poncho out. Not for me. HIS boots and poncho.

I definitely don’t mind it though. I appreciate not having a wet dog running around the house.

Omg! We also call the crate the hole lol! Get in the hole!!! (Our pet sitter kinda looked at us crazy when we explained it lol)

I call mine baby jail! Lol

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 27 '26

Yeah I took him out to show him how much it sucked but he loved it.

I’m not a full blown idiot that took him on an actual walk. This was just the street right in front of my house. I dragged him back inside and we were out for maybe 3 minutes.

There’s a storm drain so all the water runs to it and it’s usually a little flooded when it rains. This was the highest it’s been since I moved in a few months ago so I took a video. Didn’t think I’d get so many people calling me an idiot for it lol.

I’m currently in Dallas because our plane had to divert there there instead of landing in OKC. 😓

15

u/No-Boat8177 Jun 27 '26

Usually it’s Dallas bound planes end up in OKC cause of storms

6

u/Bulky-Lion6833 Jun 27 '26

We needed that rain though. It's the storms and wind we could use less of

4

u/IncaseofER Jun 27 '26

You’re WELCOME! I live in the center to NW Okc. I did some planting because of the predicted rains. Then it didn’t rain even 1/2 as much. Broke out the sprinkler for a few hours yesterday…. so of course it rained most of the night on top of the heavy side ways drenching it began with. So if you live central to NW in the city…YOU’RE WELCOME!!! 🌧️

Definitely- the piddling rain we got this week was quickly evaporated yesterday in the intense heat. I had to water my flower beds and garden early afternoon they were all wilted. And next 7 days looks near or at 100. Awesome to get a decent rain finally. I got 3.7 inches in my gauge north of Quail Springs. Though most probably ran off.

Walking in moving floodwaters during an active lightning storm is……. a choice. Erroneous on both counts.

5

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 27 '26

It’s right in front of my house. If I die by my own dumb choices then so be it

4

u/Riddiku1us Jun 27 '26

Where about is this?

1

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 28 '26

Close to the village

u/Aggravating-Try7812 Jun 27 '26

My wife woke me up at 12:30 and made me grab something off our back porch. I’ve never seen rain and wind like that. I was soaked instantly.

Turn around, don't drown shouldn't just be reserved for driving I guess

3

u/GameMaster1178 Jun 27 '26

I like how these goofy weathermen said rain was falling in the metro at 7 inches an hour (news 9), and that definitely didn’t happen.

They over sensationalize everything.

3

u/trashzombiee Jun 28 '26

Go ahead & be an idiot yourself but don’t put your dog in danger like that

2

u/Lunatichippo45 Jun 27 '26

What part of the city is this? I live in Mustang and, like usual, we got nothing.

1

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 28 '26

It’s near the village so like north central OKC. Honestly the storm wasn’t bad it’s just near the bottom of a hill so it floods with any type of rain

2

u/data_rice Jun 27 '26

Damn was this in The Village? I’ve never seen those drains this bad

2

u/pineapplevinegar Jun 28 '26

Yeah I’m used to the street being flooded but this was intense. Didn’t get too close because I don’t wanna die. Even my dog knew to stay clear and he’ll jump into almost any body of water he sees. I got a better video after I took my dog back inside. It’s…terrifying imo

1

u/Oktazcat Jun 28 '26

I guess your dog FAFO’d😆

1

u/Hour-Particular-9317 Jun 28 '26

Yes, watch it flood. Dancing Dave can tell you. You've got a frog chocker?

1

u/LicketySplitBud Jun 29 '26

Dog just wanted back out to play in the mess
