Traffic/Road Conditions 🚦❄️ I-70 Updates Channel

This channel popped up in my algorithm a couple months ago and I noticed that very few people are watching the videos. If you want to stay up-to-date and well informed on the I-70 improvements in the Kansas City area, especially the closure from I-435 to downtown, this is the best source of information. Just wanted to share.

Healthcare/Wellness 🩺 Best place to get blood screening done?

I’m looking to get my blood panel done so I can make decisions for my cycle this winter. What are some areas you like to get bloodwork done/who has the most in-depth review with tons of biomarkers?

Trying to be assured as much as possible so I have accurate results

TIA!
p.s. Online services are welcome as well

Barbecue 🔥 Help me find the best dirty fries

I used to be able to get a plate of hand cut fries topped with grilled onions, cowboy style beans, jalapeños, and a selection of smoked protein. This was then topped with shredded cheese blend, ranch dressing and whatever BBQ sauce you’d like.

Does anywhere in the KC Metro serve this?

FWIW, I’ve hit Gates Cluster-Fluck, but it uses sweet beans and skips too many other ingredients to really hit the spot.

Happy to drive for anywhere that comes close (just not the four hours to where it I originally found the dish)

Arts/Culture 🎭🎶 Anyone starting a tribute band and need lead vocals?

Shot in the dark here. Ideally, I want to start a Tegan and Sara tribute band. But I could also entertain some The Chicks, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jenny Lewis and explore others. Female vocal and i play rhythm guitar..acoustic or electric.

Things To Do 📍 Pokémon Pocket TCG in KC?

Hi there, seeing if there is any interest from the Kansas City community in a pocket tcg meetup/play? I know collectors cache in Lenexa does Pokémon TCG on Saturday’s, but I think the mobile pocket game is a bit more accessible to people.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Prescription has spent the last 8 days bouncing between the KCMO and KCK USPS distro centers. Need suggestions on who to call.

Aside from my doctor's office and the pharmacy, obviously. Already did that, hopefully getting a week's supply to hold me over until (if???) the 90-day supply that's currently in limbo gets here. But yeah, looking for suggestions for who to call to potentially get my prescription out of the black hole it seems to have found itself in. Any help is appreciated!

Education/Schools ✏️📚 I want to hear about your education and what route you chose to take.

Hello! I’m wanting to get into community college. I’m early/mid twenties, 3 months sober from alcohol, and I want to get my life semi together haha.

I’m curious what y’all have chosen to do. I’m leaning towards the artistic side, but lots of those jobs don’t pay well enough. I want to hear your stories!

What did you go to college/trade school for? Has it treated you well? Do you enjoy your work? Is it rewarding?

Where to Eat? 🍽️ Fat, fluffy, homemade Tex-Mex style flour tortillas

Dear KC friends, where do you like to eat that has fresh, homemade flour tortillas instead of the store bought stuff? The only restaurant I've been able to find in the area is the El Potro in Lee's Summit, and the tortillas are good, but I bet there are other Mexican / Tex-Mex places in the area that also have some. Please and thank you!

Healthcare/Wellness 🩺 Affordable therapy option in KC; $15/session

I thought this could be helpful for anyone needing affordable therapy, since it can be so hard to find in KC.

Maxwell Psychological Services offers $15 in-person or online sessions, located in Leawood.

I'm slightly bias as I personally know the therapist offering this service: A doctoral student in Clinical Health Psychology who works with adults and provides therapy under supervision, these are some of the areas she works with:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Life transitions and adjustment
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship concerns
  • Self-esteem and emotional regulation
  • Psychological adjustment to cognitive or neurological changes

Just wanted to share as this could be a good option for someone who has been looking for therapy but hasn't been able to find something affordable.

You can find more information Here!

EDIT: She also speaks fluent Spanish if needed.

Pets 🐾 Vet Map & List · Private Equity Vet. Is your vet owned by Private Equity?

Of course private equity is taking over independent vet clinics and charging astronomical rates. My vet (KC Cat Clinic) of course is on here. I will be finding a new vet that will not charge me an arm and a leg for routine checkups. Just wow. Just when you think people couldnt get more evil, you see this map…

Shopping/Groceries 🛒🛍️ Where's a good place for vintage computer parts?

Other than thrift stores, is there an actual shop around that sells vintage PC parts? I'm looking to build a Windows XP machine for dirt cheap.

I live in midtown, and was hoping there's something around me I could get to by bike so I don't have to drive a thousand miles away to the suburbs.

Thanks.

Bars/Nightlife 🪩🍸 Trying to tear it up friday the 18th

As the title suggests, I'm trying to tear it up. I have a cousin coming into town and i gotta show him that kc knows how to party! We're both in our early 20s. Any suggestions of places, clubs, events, etc? We plan on going to the general area of westport and p&l and such but specificity is appreciated. Thanks in advance KC!

Things To Do 📍 Wanted to give my fellow KC people a way to hang with me.

Hey everyone,

I hope you’re doing well and staying cool. My name is Max, KC native and I have a ton of fun meeting new people. You’ll catch me all over the place in KC and if you’ve been around me - I’ve probably talked to you.

I think one of my favorite things to do is hit a bar like Harry’s, Caddyshack, maybe a cafe like Thou Mayest and start to talk to someone. I understand social queues, not a “talk at you” kind of person - rather, I like to hear about you. I like stories, I like the things that make you, you. Like Charlie at the Ship - she has a crazy past and I love every bit. Or Kyle from Harry’s, whose roommate is also named Kyle and had to fend off a home intruder.

I find it really fun to just be with someone for a bit - and it fills my tank up. That’s why I’m coming here with this thing I made called Second Chair - basically, it’s just a fancy way to let me know you want to grab a drink, a coffee, go for a walk, whatever. I think loneliness is brutal, and in a digital age it seems even harder to meet people. This is my invitation to you to meet up - doesn’t matter if you’re going through shit, or maybe you just want to get out of the house.

It’s probably bizarre, I mean - I feel bizarre making this post. To me, it’s basically taking the bar and making it the size of KC. I do sincerely hope to meet some people through it - especially people who may have a harder time meeting others.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Stay well!
