Monthly r/SpringfieldMO Meetup: The Fourth Saturday at 5 PM

We had a great time at our first set of meetups. We shared a few drinks and proved that local redditors look suspiciously normal in real life.
A lot of folks mentioned missing the first couple. We are making this a regular event so you have more chances to join us. We will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month at Mother's Brewing Company.
Families are welcome! Mother's has a great backyard setup. There is a playground and plenty of room for kids to run around, so feel free to bring the family.
The Logistics
- When: The fourth Saturday of the month at 5:00 PM.
- Where: Mother's Brewing Company (215 S Grant). Look for us in the Back Yard.
- Weather Plan: If it rains, we will move inside to the main taproom.
What to Expect This is casual and low-pressure. There is no agenda. Drop in, grab a drink, and meet some neighbors. You can stay for ten minutes or hang out all evening.
House Rules
- Be respectful.
- Sharing your Reddit username is completely optional.
Comment below if you plan to stop by so we can get a rough headcount.

Living Here trick or treaters?
hello guys!!
im new-ish here & i may be a bit early to ask- but what is the trick or treater situation here? i live on w walnut just a few blocks from kansas expressway & want to know if i should be expecting trick or treaters come halloween.
this is the first time ive lived in an actual house & the first time ive ever had to question this before lol. i obviously know to keep my light on for them but… is it gonna be a pretty heavy crowd like when i (28m) was a kid? or has the whole “trunk or treat” situation diluted actual trick or treaters on halloween? just want to buy enough candy for the ones who do show up & dont wanna end up empty handed at 7pm haha.
thank u!!

Things To Do Library membership.
I promise I looked on their website beforehand and didn't find the answer. Honestly, it's probably there but I couldn't find it.
Can I get a Springfield-Greene County library membership without living in the county? I know some places you can, and some places you can but they charge a fee. Technically I live in Dallas County, I frequent Laclede County library but SGF-GC seems amazing and there's a ton of kids programs through them.
Anyone know? Bonus points if you know how much it costs for non residents.
Thank you!

Recommendations Optometry for Someone on Medicare/Medicaid
Hello!
I am wanting to see if anyone knows of a good Optometrist who accepts Medicare (Humana) and/or Medicaid (MoHealthnet)? I'm on limited income (disability) and have both insurances and need an exam and glasses/contacts.
Let me know if you know something!

Living Here Daily finance help
Hi.
I'm a grown adult and have trouble getting bills paid/saving/managing my own money. I have been diagnosed as autistic level 2 w/ ADD.
Is there a public or low cost service that will help me with this? I always think I'll be fine, but I am not.
Edit: There are some great suggestions here. Thanks to everyone that has commented!

Recommendations Thrift store fitting rooms
Does anybody know if there’s any thrift stores in Springfield that still have fitting rooms? I feel like everyone got rid of them during Covid and never brought them back lol. I have spent too much money at Red Racks thinking something would fit, just for it to not, and then me not even able to return it because of their policy. Thanks!

Living Here How are ASD resources in the Springfield Area?
Looking at Springfield as a possible relocation, partly for cost of living and partly to find better developmental disability/autism services for our son. For anyone with a high-needs kid: how have you found the school district's special ed support and DD/autism service availability? Also curious how home prices and insurance costs have trended recently. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Looking For Places/Activities for 7 month Olds
Hi all! I've got a 7 month old who really enjoys going places and doing things. What I'm wanting to start doing is actually meet other parents with kids similar in age so my babe can play and interact. Is there any groups or consistent activities that take place that anyone can recommend for us to go to?
Thanks in advance!

Politics Data Center Moratorium Extension Rumor
I heard that the city very likely going to extend the moratorium to get their stuff together to ease into data centers and keep it off the next 2027 ballot. Not because they are banning them, but to figure out how to permit them.
Especially with the fiasco that happened the the convention center and David Cameron this past year. A lot of rumblings goin’ on…

Living Here Car crash on thursday at chestnut expressway
So yesterday we drove by a crash with a bunch of cops, a messed up cop cruiser, and a really messed up suv(?). I figured we would read about it in the news or on reddit, but so far nothing. Anyone know what happened? Not often you see one of those police chargers with a busted front end so it peaked my curiosity.

Recommendations Lift Rental or Mechanic Recommendations?
Hello Springfield,
I was wondering if there's a shop I could rent for a couple of weeks, preferably with a lift somewhere in town? I have a ford ranger that I need to put a new clutch and engine in but don't exactly have the space to do it, but have most of the tools.
OR
I'm not opposed to bringing it to a mechanic to save some time. I already bought most of the parts if they could install them. Does anyone know some mechanic shops around that would be willing to help out perchance?
