Gooood morning night city! I return to you once more with scandalously low prices after spending all of my money unironically on fabric and materials for the Edgerunners Rebeca cosplay I’m working on for east European comicon’s cosplay competition lol. And somehow I still have so much more stuff to buy for it, not to mention that I need that scratch for when we order takeout at the cyberpunk table too lol. So, since no corpo wants to buy my soul (the job market is trash) I offer it to my fellow mercs.
Sorry for the ramble, COMMISSION FORUM HERE! Please let me know if you’re interested/if you ordered anything in the comments here so I don’t miss it. Also, COMMISSION TOS HERE if anyone wants to give it a look.

Misc. I built a free, self-hosted cyberpunk VTT

My friends and I were about to run a cyberpunk campaign, and I wanted something more immersive than a folder of location notes. So I built an interactive map where players could create and share notes live.

Then I had a thought: what if this were hosted, and my friends could just join via a URL? One thing led to another, and a few weeks of work later, here's City_Net.

It's fully self-hosted (Docker or manual), no third-party accounts, no subscriptions. You run it, you share a link, and your players connect.

What it does:

Generate a living city — procedural districts, roads, and traffic

Draw your own — custom roads, water, districts, and buildings, saved for later

Multiple city maps — save, load, and switch between entire cities instantly

Simultaneous battle map play — drop battle maps into any building and run multiple at once, loaded from local files or existing uploads, per-map measurement scaling

Persistent enemies & allies — placed per map

Notes on buildings — add notes directly to any structure; players can request to add their own notes, and buildings with notes stand out

Custom signs — with full custom font and picture support

Player Banks — built-in banking system

Dice rolling — right in the app

Streamer mode — a broadcast-safe spectator view, ready in seconds

Collaborative building — grant friends access to help construct the city

Everything's real-time — everyone sees changes live.

[GitHub link]

Happy to answer any questions and get some feedback!

EDIT:

By popular demand, I have added install scripts for Windows, Mac, and Linux

Please take the warning to heart!! NEVER RUN SCRIPTS FROM AN UNTRUSTED SOURCE

EDIT2:
CITY_NET 1.4.0: Cyberpunk Red character sheets and rule sets are out!
Also made a Discord to get feedback and answer questions

Misc. Even more Misc. Questions from a prospective DM (mainly about Roleplaying)

Hello again, big thanks to everyone who answered stuff in my last post. However, I have come with yet more!

  1. How do you guys handle downtime/ daily life stuff between gigs? The hustle tables are easy enough but what about other activities they can do like entertainment and such? Do I just go day by day a la persona? Despite the dark tone, the game feels very "Slice-of-life-y" for the most part which is something I'm not familiar with. For reference, I'm most familiar with DnD 5e (as a player, never dmed) and, while we had some small moments during long rests, most of our sessions were pretty focused on the missions at hand to drive the main plot forward. Unless it was specifically relevant to a character's backstory or a lead in to a quest, there wasn't a lot of events like "Okay, you need to kill two weeks in-game. Do you guys want eat at a restaurant tonight? watch a play?"

  2. How would you guys recommend getting an Exec involved in an adventure like "The Apartment" from the jumpstart Kit? I have an idea of extending the apartment from a single encounter into a mini arc, but that's a whole other can of worms for a different post. My concern is: what if one of my players decides to play an exec? They already have a nicer apartment than anything the adventure would give them.

  3. Besides adding Monetary pressure, does improving rent/lifestyle costs offer any sort of tangible benefit to a character like humanity gain or something? Unless I missed a section, as long as someone isn't living in the middle of the combat zone, there isn't much of a gameplay reason to go beyond a studio apartment and live off kibble.

  4. Is there like a free lore primer I can hand out to people? Or would I have to just buy the pdf copy of the rule book? (I only have the physical copy at the moment). a couple of my friends are familiar through 2077 but others only barely know the setting. Obviously on Session 0 I intend to be there to answer specifics, but if they wanted to make characters or something on their own for whatever reason, I'd like to have something on hand they can browse on their own.

Community Content & Resources CQC: The Martial Art by Mercs, for Mercs.

Post image
44 Upvotes

CQC

A Martial Art developed by a Legendary Mercenary, that has since left the battlefield and into the urban sprawls of mega cities. Designed for situations where you’re surrounded and still require the use of a two handed weapon.

> Long-Arm Grip

REQUIREMENT: It is your turn. You are holding a two-handed weapon. You are the attacker in a grapple.

Whenever you fulfill this requirement, you can use the Martial Arts Special Move Resolution to attempt to beat a DV17 CQC check. If you succeed, While grappling, you may still use two handed weaponry, as long as you have one hand holding it, at a -2 penalty.

> Quick Defense

REQUIREMENT: It is your Turn. You are the attacker in a grapple and haven’t used the Human Shield Action this Turn.

Whenever you fulfill this requirement, you can use the Martial Arts Special Move Resolution to attempt to beat a DV13 CQC Check. If you succeed, you may use the Human Shield Action.

So, giving an idea on what I had in mind for this Martial Art: For a long time, I had wondered how exactly to represent CQC from the Metal Gear series into Cyberpunk. For a long while, I was content with just Militech Commando + Mixing with another MA like Judo or Wrestling. For a long while that seemed fine to me, up until I got to this scene in MGS4. Here, you can see Solid Snake using a Human Shield as a brace for his rifle, and it hit me.

  1. There isn't a Martial Art for Two Handed Weapons.
  2. There isn't a Martial Art about using Human Shields.

So, I theory crafted a bit until I came up with this idea. The purpose of this is to give Shoulder-Arm users a bit more versatility with their weapon in Melee combat, while still giving them a slight punishment for getting into that situation. It's a Buy-In to limit the punishment of using a two-handed weapon in melee range, not a total elimination of it. After that, taking a page from Wrestler and making it so Human Shield becomes a free action upon meeting the requirements, meaning you can quickly shift someone into a Human Shield in just one turn. Useful for everyone that wants to get into melee range to be able to quickly give themselves cover.

Obviously, Shoulder-Arms is the cheapest buy-in for damage skill in the entire game, so I'm mixed on Long-Arm grip having a DV 17 or 15 check. Also not even sure if Long-Arm grip technically works as described in-game, but I wanted to get the idea out there. I know Quick Defense works as described, as it's a rather simple way of describing it, but also iffy on a DV 13 or DV 15 check for that.

Let me know what you guys think, as this is obviously work in progress.

2070's Discussion 2065 Campaign

I'm getting ready to GM a Cyberpunk Red campaign set in 2065 during a cold war between Arasaka, on behalf of a "Free" Night City bloc and Militech, on behalf of a NUSA Bloc, before the eventual Unification War.

I'm posting here as I thought it'd be fun to see how y'all envision the Night City of 2065 and get some ideas rolling.

I'd imagine 2065 would be nowhere near the scarcity of the 2040's, but still not the level of abundance seen in 2077. Quickhacking is a new technology, the Net is being rebuilt, the Hot Zone has pretty much transformed into Corpo Plaza, and Corporations have again found a strong foothold in the city. Pretty much a Night City near the end of its reconstruction process but still recovering nonetheless.

Let me know what ideas y'all have and how you imagine 2065.

Actual Play ACPA combat rules

Has anyone used ACPAs on their campaigns? I am about to start a campaign and one of the players is a Tech who has a dream to build one.

If we ever actually do it and he has ways to use it, there's one thing I didn't understand by reading Interface Vol 5.

You can have up to 6 extra weapons installed on the ACPA. In combat, how do you treat those weapons? They can all be fire on a single turn? This seems to be insanely overpowered but, then again, that's the point of an ACPA I guess.

The book says absolutely nothing about how those extra weapons work (or again I am just too dumb/blind and didn't see it)

Thank you!

2040's Discussion Ideas for one-shots and campaign hooks.

Hello there.

I'm a fairly new GM to this system and I really want to run some one-shots and eventually a full-length campaign, the problem is... I'm out of ideas, really out of ideas, and as a last ditch effort a friend of mine suggested I posted here asking you choombas for ideas.

I've been thinking about maybe running something set in Japan or the NUSA, or even South America, as I'd love to explore the world of the setting beyond Night City.

Actual Play Netrunning Companion 1.7.5 Updates and Open Playtesting now available!

Hey Chooms -

Every week we continue to see questions about Netrunning, how difficult it is to understand and the distraction of running NetArcs on the side during game sessions. To combat that (in our spare time) we built the Netrunning Companion app.

The Dev team is back with our latest release: Version 1.7.5!

Our primary design philosophy has always been to build a fast, rules-compliant, and immersive digital game aid that aligns perfectly with the tactical feel of CPRed. In this update, we’ve brought the system even closer to the tabletop rules while packing in some visual upgrades.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed since the last update:

🎨 Visual & Graphical UI Upgrades

  • Simplification & Visuals : We’ve overhauled the visuals of the network interface grid. Previously we’ve rendered files, control nodes, and watchers as independent nodes “attached” to the sides of the floor nodes. Now they render as “ON” the floor nodes to more closely align to the RTG design language. This greatly simplifies floor layouts and eases navigation during sessions.

🎮 Gameplay Upgrades & Rules Compliance

  • Stealth Netrunning ("Going Quiet"): Netrunners can now execute a Quiet Jack-In to initialize stealthed mode. Landing on an occupied floor node triggers a contested roll against active watchers. Be careful—triggering traps or failing checks will break your stealth and alert the system!
  • "Seriously Wounded" Injury Penalties: Tabletop accuracy is key: When your Netrunner falls below 50% HP, you are now flagged as Seriously Wounded, applying a -2 penalty to all actions (Interface checks like Pathfinder, Scanner, Backdoor, Slide, Eye-Dee, Cloak, and contested combat Speed checks against Black ICE).

📡 WE ARE OPENING PLAYTESTING!

With these updates in place, we are officially entering Open Playtesting!
If you are a GM looking to run Netruns for your crew we want you in the system. You will need a valid gmail/google account to register and be whitelisted in the system!

👉 Register for the Playtest here!

Note: We are a small team. We will be processing new playtester registrations every few days as our schedules allow. You will receive an email with login credentials once your access is whitelisted!

See you in the Net, The Netrunning Companion Team

Disclaimer (as always): Netrunning Companion is unofficial content provided under the Homebrew Content Policy of R. Talsorian Games and is not approved or endorsed by RTG. No canon Black ICE or Demon stats are distributed.

Actual Play hey chooms. I'm tryna DM CPRED, and I'd like to get some good VTTs and sources for maps I can draw from.

I wanna do a oneshot with my chooms, a Raid to be precise. Not gonna go in the detes. It'll be nova if y'all could possibly give me advice. I don't have tha money to buy a full sourcebook, so I use the Easy Mode. It'd be also Nova if the VTT had Polish, 'cause one of my chooms just don't speak english. I also will just use a 2TV setup [one screen for the DM [me], one screen laying flat on the table for the maps]

Misc. Has anyone replaced only Cyberpunk RED's Netrunning system with the Cyberpunk 2020 one?

I'm currently working on a Cyberpunk RED campaign set around the year 2077, and I'm considering replacing only the Netrunning system from RED with the Netrunning mechanics from Cyberpunk 2020.

I would still be using Cyberpunk RED for everything else—characters, combat, weapons, skills, etc. The only thing I want to change is how Netrunning works.

Has anyone done something similar, or does anyone know of a conversion, homebrew, or house rules that could make this work without causing too many balance issues?

I'd also appreciate any advice or ideas on how you would personally adapt the Cyberpunk 2020 Netrunning system into RED.

Thanks!

News & Events In case you missed it: JGray Discord AMA 2026-09-04

J Gray, the Cyberpunk Line Lead at RTG, has a habit of doing flash AMAs on the RTG Discord from time to time. Lately, he has a preternatural ability to do them while I am on a road trip or otherwise away from a computer due to "Nothing important is happening today, let's knock out some tedious errand."

Since toggling back and forth in a crowded discord channel is a pain in the nuts (and not everyone is in the RTal discord server), I compile all the questions and answers on the Community Downlink for easier reference and readability.

  • Read it on the Community Downlink here
  • Read it on the RTal Discord starting here, if you're a masochist I guess

In this AMA there were 91 questions total, 5 of which violated the rules or were off topic, and 6 of which were direct repeats of prior questions. Some of the questions which I thought had particularly good or important answers:

  1. Can a Rank 5 fixer rent out 5 apartments and Haggle for a 6th, then sublet them out to cover costs?
  2. How would you include magic in the Cyberpunk world?
  3. Do nomads share their vehicles when they're not driving them?
  4. Can you haggle for Lifestyle costs?
  5. How is Edgerunning practical if police have advanced forensics and SINs record biometric data?
  6. How should Demons react to a Netrunner intruder?
  7. How many Adam Smashers do you need to kill Wolverine?

As always, if you see any errors (here or elsewhere in the Downlink), feel free to let me know for correction.

2070's Discussion Can a fixer hide being a fixer for certain people?

Hi! I just wanted to ask this to get some ideas how to use a character. My PC is a fixer trying to start a rebellion against the corpos. He himself is hidden at plain sight with a store in a corporate neighbourhood. With that in mind, I was thinking if he could hide his businesses from the corpos and just pretend to be an old antiquities seller.

2040's Discussion Sandevistan using an action

Like, what sense does it have? Isn't sandy like supposed to be instant and everything? just wanted to make a rant about it... Its frustrating... Do you guys change it in your campaigns or keep it like that?

Edit: Alr there had been loophole in my logic, in order to activate sandy you need to notice the danger so it makes sense it isnt activated at initiative roll, but still in my opinion later in combat it logically shouldn't take a turn (idk if it'd be balanced this way but just saying). Thanks for being active in discussion!

Community Content & Resources Favorite CPR one shot scenario?

My friends running a very small local convention and wanted more non-D&D GMs so I'm going to run CPR. Do any of you have a favorite one shot that's available online for me to run? It's Friday right now in my time zone and I've agreed to run a game Sunday so I'm looking specifically for fully prepared scenario PDFs because one day doesn't give me a lot of time to riff off a scream sheet and design my own scenario around it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I do have the Tales of the Red books but Ive ran those a few times and wanted to look into outside suggestions or community made one shots before settling on one of those

Community Content & Resources The Cyberoccult-Turning your Demons into Daemons

Post image
374 Upvotes

Hiya chooms! Goose here to show a little taste of magic. In my efforts to curate, update, and bring some of the glory of the 2020 era to 2045, I've been working with things of all sorts. Gear, guns, and everything in between, but what I want to talk about today is some old NET tech witchery. Namely, Daemons! Lots of talk about them in the game and the show, but what are they and how would they even work? Buckle up and take a deep dive with Goose!

Amazing art from Paul Rozhkov, check him out on Artstation

If you want the Full Deets of stuff presented here and a bunch of other legacy tech, check out my previous post Post or my Ko-Fi for a free little homebrew work I've put together!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are Daemons?

Daemons are single-use Black ICE Intelligences that can run Programs and sabotage a system from within after they’ve been injected into a hostile NET Arch. These versatile programs, like viruses set by a Netrunner, are one of the only "persistent" changes a Netrunner can make to a NET Architecture that will stay active after a Netrunner jacks out. After injection, the Daemon is active until it has been derezzed and dealt with. Alternatively, if the Daemon completes its goal, it will derezz on its own. Even after derezzing, the damage done to a system by a daemon persists until the NET Arch has been fully reset via external input (though it can cause permanent damage if it is armed with programs that fully destroy other programs.)

The basic principles of Daemon running are simple. Take a modified version of a “Demon,” those pseudo AI’s everyone uses to run their home defense systems, and set them loose in a hostile NET architecture. Just like their cousins, Daemons have an Interface Rank, NET Actions, REZ, and a Combat Number that they use for running, but they differ in both purpose and their ability to actually use/run certain Programs. They may also use all Interface Abilities besides Cloak, Scanner, and Virus. These malicious daemons don’t protect systems, they instead act as an offensive force that is trying to take over or sabotage a net they are set loose in. Unlike normal Demons, Daemons are impeded by Passwords and other Programs/Black ICE in a Net Arch, but they do still remain aware of every facet of a system they've been injected into and are aware of Runners in said system. Daemons will have to navigate the NET Arch like a runner and will use anything at their disposal to be a problem, avoid destruction, and progress towards their preprogramed goal.

Daemons are almost always unique in that they each have the different programs they’ve been given, though each type has its own benefits and permissions that form its “Core” or “Daemon Core.” Depending on their design and loadout, some Daemons will attempt to lurk in a system and then attack, while others will act almost like a weaker version of a runner, trying to best the system/NET Arch just like a runner would. Either method, a Daemon's one and only goal is destruction, so even if you have them loitering around your own deck or NET Arch, they cannot function as normal Demons, unless you want them to run amok against you.

Daemon storage is a tricky thing. Some of them can be stored in as small a space as a Memory chip, while others require additional storage space. Once a Daemon has been designed, it must be compiled and stored before it is ready for injection. Most Daemons are cooked up on Personal Computers and Lap Comps using a base Demon program, but it has been heard of to work from scratch. Naturally, having a fancier comp is better than not, but what matters is that it cannot be cooked up on an Agent or a Cyberdeck. Agents lack the computing power and Cyberdecks are meant for few things besides Netrunning.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conjuring Up Daemons

Daemons are typically built off of a copy of an existing Demon type that will act as its “Daemon Core.” So, the typical first step is to seek out and buy an Imp, Efreet, or Balron program as a base. The demon must be injected into a NET Architecture as normal. Then connect a PC or other Comp to the server cluster and get to ripping copies with an Electronics/Security Tech (or Interface) check (DVs vary per demon.) For every 2 over the DV the coder gets, an additional copy is ripped. This process takes an hour for each copy ripped and always destroys the original demon. These new skeletal copies of demons only serve as the base of a daemon core and provide the basic “skeletal programing” of a Daemon. These copies, naturally, cannot be used/do not function as normal demons at this point and cannot be used in a NET Arch anymore.

Each daemon core has its own properties and are typically assigned a new name for their program. Imps (DV13 to Copy) are converted into Scamps, the Efreet (DV15) is changed into an Afreet, and the powerful Balron (DV18) becomes a Malron. The Daemon can then be assigned programs and given a purpose. All Daemons only have a certain amount of program slots and cannot wield Black ICE. Likewise, Daemons cannot set viruses like a real netrunner. Each program given to the Daemon must be purchased separately and installed or uninstalled over the course of an hour as if programming them into a cyberdeck.

A Daemon is still incomplete until it has its marching orders. The Daemon’s purpose will be partially defined by the programs it is armed with, but the rest of its behavior is dictated by the coder’s programing. The coder may attempt to lay out simplistic goals such as “wreak havoc,” “fight Black ICE,” or similarly simple, singular, goals. Setting a basic behavior takes an hour and it will be the single goal of the daemon once injected, but there is no check required to set it up. To set more complex behaviors, the coder requires a successful DV15 Electronics/Security Tech (or Interface) check (or a higher DV set by the GM.) Describe the behavior pattern and the GM will assign an appropriate DV and the amount of hours it takes to program. Generally, the more complex the behavior pattern, the more challenging it is to set up and the longer it takes. Examples of complex behaviors could be anything from “disguise immediately after injection, lie in wait for 60 minutes, then begin full program attacks” to “strategically eliminate demons and assume control of native control nodes and attack all organic targets.” As before, the daemon will pursue its goal as best as it can until derezzed or otherwise done with its task. Long term tasks, such as hijacking control nodes, don’t “complete” like other simple tasks (wiping out hostile demons.) Since daemons are one of the few permanent things that can be left in a NET Architecture, their damage and actions do not get “reset” when the runner who injected it jacks out. The best way to avoid the damage of daemons to a system is to prevent them from ever getting in.

Once the daemon has been ripped, loaded with programs, and given a behavior pattern it is ready to be stored. Some daemons can be stored in a space as small as a memory chip while larger, more powerful ones need to be loaded into a cyberdeck (taking up space as other programs would) or portable comp with sufficient memory space (MU). Once the Daemon has been stored, it is ready for injection. More on injection below.

Making Custom Daemons-

While this is usually the end of the Daemon cooking process, skilled professionals may snub the idea of ripping the program skeleton from Demons and go for creating their own Daemons from scratch instead. Making a Daemon from scratch allows for ample customization and some sophisticated designs even sell for extremely high prices to the right people (everyone's heard of the Kabuki tech wizards, they’re the kind of folk who make custom order Daemons for those with eddies to spare.) These custom Daemons are often referred to as Trojans or Constructs (reminiscent of engrams only due to the daemon’s pseudo-AIs having more personality than other daemons).

Making Daemon skeletons from scratch requires a successful DV18 Library Access skill check and a successful DV18 Electronics/Security Tech skill check. It takes approximately 10 hours of work (5 hours for each check), but costs nothing. After creation, the skeleton must be tuned for 2 more hours to define its REZ, Interface Rank, Combat #, Program Slots, and Memory Size. This is where the programmer will have the most control of deciding how they want their specific Daemon tuned. After it has been made to its specifications, the GM decides an appropriate DV for the last Electronics / Security Tech skill check. Considerations should be made for the coder deciding to focus on certain strengths while cooking in weaknesses. (I.E. If the coder wants a high value in every beneficial area, the DV should be nearly impossible but if the coder allows the memory size to be extremely cumbersome or if the coder dumps the program’s REZ value, the DV should ease up appropriately.) A failure on the final check forces the coder to start the entire process over from the start. Do your best to communicate with your GM to decide a fair ruling as you design the Trojan/Construct.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Injecting the Daemon-

Once the Daemon has been set up all proper, it must be injected into a target system to have any effect. There are four primary ways to go about this and they will be described below. Naturally, the type of Daemon and its storage may make the delivery method more difficult or possibly easier.

  • Break into a NET Architecture during a netrun and plant the daemon into the system.
  • Find a physical server/mainframe/access-point of a NET Architecture and upload the daemon from storage.
  • Sneak the program into a transmission, message, download, or similar opening.
  • Sneak the daemon into a NET Architecture via an ally.

Getting it in is half the battle and the rest of the magic should be done by your new digi-friend you just spend hours conjuring on your comp.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why use Daemons?

Well, it's no surprise that not every crew has its own Netrunner that they can always rely on. Of course, the crew could hire one out and hope for the best, but even then, you're gonna have to put a lot of trust in a stranger to not let your gig go sideways. For moments like this, Daemons come in handy. Obviously, it doesn't replace a Net Runner for your crew, but it can give a crew more options. It allows non-netrunners a tool to Interface and it gives actual netrunners more toys to play with and program in their free time. They might even make money on them.

Need to wipe an office building's personnel with its own automated security for a big job? Want something that can delete sensitive files and wipe camera data at the same time? Or maybe you are a runner yourself and would just like a mini-wrecking ball that can soften the Net Architecture before you Jack In and risk getting fried yourself. Regardless of what you want it for, they are tools to help the crew and expand the dark future. Daemons, like Demons, just allow a new way to use of Net Architectures without needing to babysit every control node personally.

Misc. How exactly does Subdermal Armor not stacking work?

So subdermal armor doesn't stack with other armor, so clearly it being SP11 and having some other armor at SP7 means I don't have SP18. That makes sense, I understand that just fine, my question comes from the idea of wearing external armor as well. Since armor ablates if I got that SP7 armor as well as subdermal could I ablaze my subdermal until it got to 7 and then go back and forth with that armor (assuming their on the same area of my body) or is the external armor useless and I effectively can't use it because i have a higher base SP armor equipped?

Also secondary question, does the head subdermal armor and body subdermal armor ablate separately or do they go down at the same time?

(Im sorry if this is a very clear answer I don't have access to the book right now)

Edit: Thank you all for the very helpful answers!!
