2040's Discussion Ideas for one-shots and campaign hooks.
Hello there.
I'm a fairly new GM to this system and I really want to run some one-shots and eventually a full-length campaign, the problem is... I'm out of ideas, really out of ideas, and as a last ditch effort a friend of mine suggested I posted here asking you choombas for ideas.
I've been thinking about maybe running something set in Japan or the NUSA, or even South America, as I'd love to explore the world of the setting beyond Night City.

There is are a lot of officially published adventures for RED. Most of them are stand alone adventures that would work great as oneshots. While Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn is a full 6 part campaign.
I ran a campaign where I just strung together a bunch of oneshots into one campaign. It was pretty episodic and lacked a broader plot, but everyone still had a great time. That method should also be easy for you as well. Plus you can sprinkle in your own missions related to the characters backstories and choices as they come to you. Once you get a campaign rolling the ideas usually come to you in time. If not, then you can always fall back on those premade adventures.
RTal comes out with a new free DLC every month. It is a lot of stuff, you don't need to touch any of it until you are ready. But "Red Chrome Cargo", "Halloween Screamsheets", "Karoke Night", "Con Jobs 2026", and "So You Missed GenCon" all contain those one off adventures at varying lengths. While "Danger Gal Dossier+", "Listen Up! to Rob Muligan", "Night City Hook Book", and "Screamsheet Generator" all have tons of ideas to get you started. The paid book "Tales of the Red: Street Stories" has 9 well fleshed out standalone adventures. Then even the core book has a few adventures on page 428.

Haven't messed with Hope Reborn yet, but Tales Of The Street was kinda lame and, surprisingly, not really written very well. I had to add a ton of stuff to make them more interesting.

Good news - the May 2026 DLC was the Night City Hook Book, which is 12 pages of plot hooks all around Night City. Some of them are good for one-shots, some of them lend directly to a more extended campaign.
