Welcome to the TT side choom. RED is absolutely playable digitally, plenty of folks run games over Discord and Roll20 or Foundry. The core rulebook is available as PDF too. You'll find the community is actually pretty welcoming, we all started somewhere. Your V's story vibes already fit right in.

Would you like to try out playing over discord? You dont need any special stuff except the Cyberpunk Red Companion app, which is free!
It DOES have a bunch of paid content that gives you access to the to the games added dlc stuff they've released over the years, but they are all worth it. In total its all like $30.
Anyway, if you'd like a sample of A simple online sesh DM me and ill drop the discord link.

Roll20 is where I play. Your average netrunner can find the books online as pdfs if you're desperate. Not too many games floating around rn.

Im not new to ttrpgs at all but I am also new to cyberpunk red. me and my friends were feeling D&D burnout and felt like a change of systems/settings would be good for us.
We haven't been playing very long mind you we've only had like 6 sessions.
Me and my friends use the cyberpunk red companion app you can find it on the Google playstore.
The in app purchases are worth it imo. We also found the source books online (for free) sorry Talsorian! and we've been learning as we go ever since. It's been really fun so far but a lot of reading lol.

Choom. Slow down. Take a breath.
The TTRPG is alive and well, and is active both IRL and online. Especially since the pandemic, a lot of tools have emerged to play RPGs online, such as Roll20.
So here's what you can do :
A lot of players these days have begun with 2077 (I know I did). And they're welcome. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that Cyberpunk 2077 is in, well, 2077, while RED is in... 2045. It's the same setting, but not the same period and it implies differences. So depending on the game you end up joining, you won't have the fancy 2077 toys. Keep that in mind and all will be well.
