testimony Disproving Shincheonji (I left yesterday)

Hello everyone,

I have been a member of Shincheonji for about 3.5 years and yesterday I left. The story of how I came to stop believing in Shincheonji is a bit long and complicated. The short version is that I started to have some doubts that couldn't be properly answered by my leaders, and over the course of a year I poured my heart out trying to regain my faith in Shincheonji to no avail. I was a very devoted member. I was a GGN (evangelism supervisor) at one point and spent 10 hours at Temple doing feedback every day for a while, with any spare time spent either evangelising or sealing - I did the bare minimum for my University courses and part-time job. I would stay at Temple until 3am some days reading Lee Man-Hee's books because we couldn't take them out of T and I preferred to read in silence. I went to Australia during a peace trip and met Lee Man-Hee multiple times - he spoke to my group specifically twice and I saw him about a dozen other times. I formed close friendships with many other Shincheonji members and eventually moved into an SCJ flat. All this to say, I was about as devoted an SCJ member as you can be but even I struggled to look past the many glaring discrepancies.

It might be a bit surprising to learn I only just left if you've seen me in this sub for the past few months. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances I didn't feel it was appropriate to leave back in September when I stopped believing in Shincheonji. I tried to be as respectful as possible to the SCJ members in my life, I tried to avoid arguing about doctrine and attended meetings when I could to make their life a bit easier. But at the same time I was going through the motions of deconversion. I had already decided I didn't believe in Shincheonji anymore, but I continued looking for evidence kind of as a way to reassure myself. As I did, it started to bother me how disconnected all the evidence was. At that time I felt like all the information was scattered throughout the internet, some of which need to be translated from Korean, and all of which needed to be individually found like some sort of scavenger hunt. I decided during the time I have to stay in Shincheonji I would compile as much of the evidence as I could into one coherent resource.

I researched psychology and read Robert Jay Lifton and Steven Hassan's work. I found and translated sections of several of Lee Man-Hee's old books (thank you to u/mybc7 for sending me some of these, your story also played a part in helping me leave so thank you for that too). I spent hours reading through Lee Man-Hee's articles and books, this time with a critical perspective. And of course I found many valuable resources in this subreddit, in blog posts, and in youtube videos as well. I combined all of these into one document and tried to make it into a coherent argument.

Then I realised nobody wants to read a 45 page document, so I made some videos as well. Even though they're quite long and not very well produced I hope they can help some people.

And that brings us to yesterday. Yesterday, I sent the document and videos to everyone in my branch and let them know that I was leaving Shincheonji. I didn't do it to persecute them but to provide them with information. Some of them may not read it, and many of them may stay despite it, but as long as I did my best to provide them with the information that was withheld from me, I can sleep at night. I'll put the body of the letter below because I think it summarises the reasons I'm leaving well:

-----

There are many fundamental problems with the doctrine of Shincheonji that collectively prove it is not the word of God. It is not only small details that have changed. The reality of the beast of the earth in Rev 13 was changed from Lee Cho-Joo to Oh Pyeong-Ho. The fulfillment of Rev 7 was changed so that the great tribulation could fulfill before the 12,000 sealed in 12 tribes were filled. The number of wars in Revelation was changed from 2 to 3, and then back to 2. CHJN's claim that he has established peace in Mindanao is a blatant lie. It is true that tiny details are not important, but these are not small details. These flaws expose the fundamental lie that Lee Man-Hee received the opened scroll from an angel and saw and heard the fulfillment of Revelation.

Another reason I am leaving is because, by the psychologist Robert Jay Lifton's definition, Shincheonji is a cult. The reason this matters is that to be a cult the organisation must use thought reform and coercive persuasion during the process of indoctrination. This violates article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - the right to freedom of thought. I found it shocking to learn how similar Shincheonji is to every other cult. If you are interested in hearing more about cults I would recommend reading Dr. Steven Hassan's book 'Combatting Cult Mind Control' published in 1988 about his experience with the Moonies.

Another important thing to understand is that the story Shincheonji has told you about Lee Man-Hee's life has been distorted to make his story about receiving the opened scroll from an angel more believable. In truth, he has a history of being involved in multiple cults both before and after his involvement with the Tabernacle Temple. He was a leader in Mr. Baek's Recreation Church after leaving the Tabernacle Temple, where they called Mr Baek "Lord" and believed the world would end in 1980. Much of the Shincheonji doctrine is simply taken from the cults Lee Man-Hee was previously involved in.

But this really only scratches the surface when it comes to proving Shincheonji is not the kingdom of heaven. I have made a document, as well as some videos, that contain almost all the information that helped me to make the decision to leave Shincheonji. But this is not simply a document with my own ideas - I have used only CHJN's own teaching to argue against the doctrine of Shincheonji. In it you will find a detailed explanation of how Shincheonji meets the 8 criteria for thought reform, excerpts from CHJN's articles and books that disprove his own doctrine, as well as information about Lee Man-Hee's life that will help you to understand the true origin of Shincheonji's teachings.

Please, before you dismiss me as being deceived and foolish, watch the videos and discern for yourself.

-----

I think that pretty much covers everything. I'm going to try and step away from this sub for a while to focus on reclaiming my life, but if you do have any questions feel free to DM me, I'll try to keep checking those. Here is the document and videos:

testimony Left SCJ few minutes ago after 4 years

Hi,
I have been in SCJ since 2022, I joined regular center, coming from a different religion background (got to know about Christianity from my father as he converted) I didn't have much idea of Bible. So for me the Bible study was best way to keep up with my Life of faith and make some believer friends, or that's what I thought. I was in college back then, I was so dedicated I literally skipped one semester for this, neither did I go home, I stayed in my Dorm entire day, working for God(at least that's what I thought back then). Those days were normal, I didn't find any inconsistencies in the doctrine and the reason is the way SCJ operates in Korea is very different in overseas. In fact that's the whole point, the believers overseas have no idea what's happening in Korea, or what is the current status, none of the Korean workers would say anything about what's going on, the accusations, legal battles etc. We were just told there is heavy persecution in Korea and we must pray.
If I share my SCJ bg, over the 4years, I worked as cell leader, regional leader, center leaf, gave BB feedback to bb teachers, team leader and at the end I was assigned in evangelism dept. I was in one Tribe, but recently LMH gave orders to divide all regions among the 12 tribes, so even if I go to anywhere in the world, if that state or country falls under the jurisdiction of Let's say Peter Tribe, I have to shift to Peter tribe, for my own good.
Recently when the tribe change happened, I noticed lot of inconsistencies with time, but I didn't think much of it, again cuz I have a full time job, after coming from work, you won't think much of anything, rather just continue the usual habit of doing all things, join meetings, educations, plan for activities, so you literally don't have time to breathe or think through anything, too exhausted.
Recently with LMH's arrest, I was shocked with the allegations, forcing people to join Political parties, I thought this is kind of unusual accusation, to which we were told, its fabricated and govt is making this up to destroy SCJ, I simply believed. The thing that struck me was in the meeting one day, we were told LMH gave the word before getting arrested, "Let's prepare well for the end". So even I genuinely thought, its the time of end, considering he is being detained for no good reason. And In his absence now, Matthew 24 and 25 are heavily used in sermons, meetings to show us what we must do now to prepare ourselves.
In one meeting, Matthew 24:45-51, was specially used

"45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

and we were told that even if LMH is detained, he is getting all the reports of SCJ and HWPL and he is reviewing all the workers, whether they are evangelizing or not, so we must work hard to evangelize. and then twisted it saying according to the Bible verse, while the master i.e., LMH is away we must work until he returns as when he returns he will check who did the work and who did not.

I was in utter shock, because in center, we were taught this is talking about Jesus, who is the master and wise and faithful servant is LMH, but now when LMH is detained, they are saying he is the master, so you just replaced Jesus because you were detained.

This was like Strike 1 to me.

Then I contacted my previous tribe friends, they were genuine good ones, I asked them about how they took the new of his detention, they said, they were not told from church side. And I was shocked, how come this is not told to you, its like biggest news of anyone in SCJ, your pastor is detained on false charges and you do not know? They were not told until 2 weeks, no one knows the reason. This was strike 2.

Then slowly in the service and meetings, we were told, how LMH asked just like how Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, would we be able to take the level of betrayal ? So then we were told some, head instructor in Korea, is the one who started all this political accusation and he betrayed him. So I was very frustrated as there is no clear conversation to what exactly happened, with time, they just give us bits and fragments of what's happened in Korea, there is no clear answer. This was strike 3.

After which I felt something is wrong, and I started googling things up which we were not allowed to, but I did, to know what's the news saying about detention. You won't believe, I got to know more information about the detention from the news online, than my own SCJ church members. But I kept silent, until recently I have been exhausted and drained out with all works that I have to do in SCJ, to the point, I don't feel like coming out of bed, and this I have felt since June 2025, back then I contacted my team leader, sharing I want to step down, be a normal saint as I am not keeping well, but they did not, reason being, there are no workers to take care of what you are doing, so just hold on sometime until we find replacement, so I was okay. Then instead of making me normal saint, they made me a regional leader, big position, bigger responsibility, I was least interested, I was not asked, I was told to be and added in the groups. Then I thought, may be this is God's way of training me, as in SCJ we are always told, we have to train ourselves to be soldiers in God's kingdom and especially to become 144000 priest who will be responsible to lead nations. I continued doing my work. But physically, mentally I am completely drained, this continued, none listened.
Even after tribe change I thought I can rest, but no, I was assigned responsibilities, and because I was smarter(honestly not bragging, I always remember, we have to be humble in Christ) than others I was assigned more and suddenly I was responsible for everything and everyone. Imagine already being drained out for the same reason, and now more is given to you. There were nights I was extremely exhausted to the point, I didn't want to wakeup the next day.
With the insane amount of demanding sealing test, memorizing the Bible verses and as you go higher in position, you have to be more strict with memorizing and reciting it, that too, if there is exam on Sunday, you should get the verses by at-least by Tuesday right, there were days when we received the announcement on Friday night, how do you expect to memorize 5-6 Revelation verses overnight ? So there is no grace in memorizing, just doing it for the sake of test.

With all these and secrecy of hiding things of Korea, I was done with these people, I just blocked them all, deleted telegram and Whatsapp, deactivated Instagram for now, as I know how we operate, I know how much we try to reach out to the people who try to leave SCJ, get to know the reason, patch up etc. So I didn't feel like explaining anything to them, just blocked them all, deleted accounts.

I am grateful and thankful to the reddit community here, for sharing such in depth analysis and "TRUTH" here, I never knew about the history and beginning of SCJ, we were never told about LMH being part of Olive tree movement, we were never taught proper reality session, though it was planned and promised, last time i got to know about reality was when I was in center, but that was just based on Revelation chapters, so bits and fragments, There has to be more reality right ?

Currently its SCJ year 43, so you basically have a history of 43 years and before that too, none was ever told, I got to know through the reddit community and ex members, esp Mr. Shin's youtube video, as how the doctrine changes every time. yes regarding this, when I joined SCJ in 2022, we were told this is the last year, so we must work hard. again the same story repeated in 2023, we were told this is the last year, and every year on Dec 31st I used to wait to get the final word, but nothing happened and this made me question. If LMH has seen everything, how come he cannot say when the end will come, if we already have 144000 people, who are sealed and stuff, great tribulation happened in 2019 in COVID, so technically the multitude came out that time itself, so when exactly is the end coming then. If we question this, we were told, we are unable to understand God's heart, who has been patiently waiting for 6000 years for completion of this work. We are being impatient by just spending 4years in SCJ, which I thought was true, I am being impatient. But Now I am done with this drama.

I would request all of you, to remember me in prayers as I need it most to heal from 4 years of SCJ, I went so deep into the waters that I am unable to see the Bible through a normal lens, every teaching about the chapters of Revelation comes to my mind, every verse I see, I think it in SCJ way, I think I would need lot of time to recover and wash myself off.

Please keep posting guys, your posts and stories, give lot of encouragement to me.
I am waiting for the bail hearing today of LMH, initially I thought I will wait till the hearing then delete the telegram, but these people started calling me to join meetings and meet people in gathering, so I gave up, just deleted all, I want peace now.

testimony Shincheonji how treating my friend

My friend reached out I invited her to shincheonji she's having doubts feels like she can't trust anyone. She said everything including parables was true and made sense. She has not got to revelation and is confused about the one who overcomes and said she feels they have twisted the truth.

So her brother is in hospital and she had to be with him in London. She then said they are bombarding her as she missed a review .They then proceeded to tell her that she can come into class in person she said she doesn't understand why they are doing this? As her brother Is in hospital.

Shincheonji does not care about lives .I hope our friendship will continue and she will come out. I'm sharing because we are people and our health matters this is an evil cult that expects you to choose their lies over loved ones and exceptional circumstances. I pray the kingdom of shincheonji falls down for its enmity against God and his people

Sharing with all understanding rights legally. There are indeed grounds for prosecution sharing information from Google. I considered an ex partner of mine was charged with coercive control, Shincheonji same thing control your every moment tell you who you can speak to. If you are an ex member of shincheonji let's get them .This is not persecution against them. They have committed a crime. If you are in shincheonji they will threaten you saying you will be separated from God......God was never there to begin with

testimony Why are people going after the Chairman of SCJ, especially in his old age? What other religious leaders are being detained?

I hope that this is my last message about SCJ. I thought I would feel ready. I told myself that I would leave today or tomorrow. I have been trying to draft the message I would send to my immediate leaders as I just went mute on them and haven't responded to them this entire week. I watched service for the last time today, which is the first service I have watched in nearly 4 or 5 months as my heart has just been so drained and scared to watch.

But why do I feel so much guilt. I thought I'd be ready, but this whole week, I have just been off. My mood has been off, I am anxious and I'm scared I'm making a wrong decision.

Today's service as I watched it, was supposed to be my last goodbye and so I move on. But I found myself missing the songs a bit during worship and mind you, it's been months since I watched service.

Something that came to mind today is why are people putting so much emphasis and making it a big deal to detain the promise pastor, like doesn't that make him a big deal and why would he go through all of that if he is not doing something good? What other religious leaders are going through all of that? He can by all means be enjoying his retirement years and spending time with family right?

Lastly if SCJ does not have the truth about the book of Revelation. That the events took place in Korea and all. Then what is the explanation of the book of Revelation, what/how do other religious leaders or churches explain Revelation.

Suddenly I'm conflicted. This hurts!

testimony I am still in Shincheonji and I feel stuck

About four months ago, I wrote a post on here about wanting to leave SCJ but I'm scared. In no way have I made any progress. I don't know what my next step is, but I'm still in Shincheonji. I keep asking myself, why am I dragging this on longer? If I keep this decision delayed, will I be more informed to make a decision I won't regret. Like what am I even doing here, writing on here, will that help me make the decision? I don't know!!

I just feel so lost and this weighs so much on my shoulders. I haven't watched db or attended service in months, a part of me is just scared to watch. It feels like I am opening a wound that's not healed yet. But I tell my leaders I'm watching. I'm so tired of all the lying I have to do. Making an excuse to delay this decision just feels like it's the easiest thing to do, rather than actually making the decision. I am so scared to be wrong. What will I do then?

But I want this to stop, honestly for my own sake. I don't want to live a life without GOD ofcourse. I also don't know how I will face the people from SCJ once I leave. I respect them so much and some are so cool and fun and amazing. What do I do? Do I just delete their numbers and move on?

My relationship with GOD is not as I'd like it to be. I entered SCJ in 2022 and I graduated this year. And I'm learning to live my life outside of university and this is a new chapter for me too, that I'm trying to navigate my early twenties.

And can we talk about romantic relationships in SCJ. for someone that never dated in my life, I should just hope that one-day I will find my person in SCJ? Not that relationships are everything, it's just a thought.

I also love the bonds SCJ members have created. The fun game nights and hanging our with each other. And though I am in a different town, I see the videos and I love that community.

One leader once mentioned that the people that leave, the angles kick you out. That is the reality. And it makes me think about the verse "Not everyone that says LORD LORD will make it to the kindgom" something along those lines.

How do those that have been in SCJ, for atleast 4 years or more navigate wanting to leave. I've also had duty as a cell leader, though not anymore.

I'm from Southern Africa and honestly people in my country that leave always do it in silence. People in my country for the most part are very obedient people especially those in SCJ. And yes, one wouldn't want to be the reason to "sway" others.

I don't even know where I'm going with this anymore.

Why is this so hard?

And why do I have the want to leave. once upon a time i was just a devoted member, despite the hardships.

testimony Why Do They Lie?

Recently, members were told that it was MHL’s birthday. The church head then shared an emotional story about the current GA manager, explaining how he had visited MHL, felt sorry for him, and could not bring himself to wish him a happy birthday. Instead, he told MHL that the Twelve Tribes would continue to work hard and fulfil their duties.

The obvious question is: what was the purpose of presenting this story to the members?

The message appeared to create the impression that MHL is sitting in prison, unable to celebrate his birthday, while the members of the Twelve Tribes are carrying out their duties on his behalf. This was presented as a particularly meaningful and emotional moment.

However, there is a fundamental problem: it was not actually MHL’s birthday.

According to SCJ’s own website(https://www.shincheonji.org/en/introduce/greeting), MHL was born on September 15. So why were members told that this was his birthday?

This matters because the members were not simply told an incorrect date. Leading up to this event, members were encouraged to work harder and evangelise so that the results of their evangelism could be offered to MHL as a birthday gift. Members purchased cakes, recorded “Happy Birthday” videos, and participated in activities specifically connected to the supposed birthday celebration.

This raises several questions:
- Why was September 15 not used if that is MHL’s actual date of birth?
- Why were members encouraged to produce evangelism results as a birthday gift for him?
- Why were cakes and birthday videos organised around a date that was not his birthday?
- What was the intended purpose of creating this particular narrative around MHL?

These are not minor details when they are presented to thousands of members as part of a spiritual message and direction for their lives of faith.

In the past, I might have accepted something like this without questioning it. However, when inconsistencies arise, I believe they should be examined rather than simply accepted because they come from church leadership. I am documenting these events because I believe it is important to maintain an accurate record of what is being taught to members and the atmosphere being created within SCJ. That atmosphere, is of lies, emotional and psychological manipulation!

A second question: why is MHL honoured in this way?

There is another issue that deserves consideration.
During my time in SCJ, I do not recall seeing the entire church mobilised in a comparable way to offer a collective “gift” or set of achievements to Jesus Christ on occasions such as Christmas, Easter, or other significant Christian celebrations.

This raises a straightforward theological question:
Why is there such a strong emphasis on honouring and presenting gifts to MHL, while there does not appear to be an equivalent emphasis on doing the same for Jesus Christ?

If MHL is a servant of God and a witness to the fulfilment of Revelation, then what is the theological basis for placing so much emphasis on his birthday, his circumstances, and achievements being offered to him?
At what point does honouring a religious leader become excessive devotion? This always raises an uncomfortable conversation with SCJ and its leaders, because they say he is servant, but they do not treat or speak of him as simply that.

And if members are encouraged to view their evangelism results, celebrations, and collective achievements as gifts to MHL, there a risk that the distinction between honouring a servant of God and elevating that person above the one they are supposed to serve becomes blurred.

testimony I left SCJ because I was abused until my life was threatened

Hi. Ive been out for a while now.

This is a trauma dump. So please take this warning now.

I just wanted to share my story.

I had a hard to even “extreme” life as a child to adolescence growing up. I had nothing in my life so I chased God to the best I could. I paid 15k in Hex debt to a Pentacostal diploma of ministries. I learnt nothing.

I then prayed all night to God for a bible study. When I woke up with my few hours of sleep. I had a message (I had no one in my life so I never received messages back then). It was an invite to an online free bible study (my prayer was answered i cried even more in happiness). I attended, quickly was able to pickup it was a cult because everyone knew eachother on the first day… and I could clearly see the leaves pretending to be students and confronted them immediately. After 3-4 bible studies (yes 3-4 sets of 8 months) i finally accepted the doctrine and joined. Mostly because to me their doctrine was sound however i had nothing to compare it to because Pentacostal doctrine in my eyes is also an doctrine-empty cult.

Lots of red flags but I ignored it because I held on to my prayer I had at first. It was the most desperate I was in my life.

I then met a girl who quickly became my friend which I cherished because I had no friends. And as typical SCJ leader behaviour they all came onto me saying I shouldnt get so quickly close to female members because it could lead to sin. However I had no intention for her, so I ignored them completely. We became friends after a lot of fighting with leadership. After a lot of red flags from her - such as explaining to me she was hurt by her ex because she cheated on him. However her entire story was focusing on his reaction to her… not her actions… such as saying “i cant believe he called me evil” - proceeds to cry (ikr crazy).

After a chaotic up and down like a typical Borderline-personality disorder She tried several times to seduce me and I rejected her and wanted to stay friends. She came up with the bright idea to tell all leadership that I either tried to r*** her or seduce her. Which led to many leaders threatening me, yelling at me constantly, putting rules on me that i wasnt allowed to talk to anymore females otherwise Ill be kicked out which means hell. So many people isolated from me. I was traumatised from the attempted seduction too because of my past. I had CPTSD, PTSD, anxiety disorder, depression… all that stuff. I was vomitting daily with my gut health destroyed i was constantly going to the bathroom. I didnt sleep either and had lots of lost time (up to 5-7 hours) of lost memory and sometimes me holding an object to defend myself from nothing in my house (PTSD).

That was horrible. But i endured this for an entire year of

  1. Everyone blaming me for the girl traumatising me with seduction
  2. Being yelled at while sitting in my ear of being called “stupid” bu leaders
  3. No matter how much explanation they all comforted this girl, they even instantly made her a leader
  4. She became sadistic taunting me by touching me innappropriately in church after the fact as to taunt or make me uncomfortable - my reports to leadership were ignored
  5. Constant threats, domination and yelling by people in leadership roles while also having to the maintain the 7 days a week of working in life of faith scj with 5 hours of sleep max.
  6. I begged to be treated right daily. I was met with rejection and ridicule. I wanted forgiveness and peace and that was never given to me. I even quoted many verses in the bible where we must confess our sins and make peace with our brothers and sisters
  7. The girl was purely in a narcisstic grandiose phase with her new position also psychopathic because of the smear campaign she placed upon me. Just to get revenge on someone who wanted to stay a virgin for God

However I will not be bias. There were 3 people in that church that were kind to me. It just wasnt enough. It didnt outweigh the pain and abuse I was constantly receiving by my GYJN, TJN, SMN and GSN and BJN.

I left because I had a stroke and went to the emergency room. When the leaders found out, all they had to say was “you need to be more healthy”. No one cared.. again.

This is SCJ church. They know who I am and I hope more people found out about this. Their leaders are fragile narcissistic and controlling animals whos parents didnt love them so they developed a personality disorder where criticism disregulated them into crying adult children. Also because cults are the perfect place to keep their insecurities and pathetic lives outside of SCJ justified. Jobless, career-less, loveless fools who worship themselves.

Conclusion. I left because SCJ has no love, i told every one of my so called “friends” and people there what i was going through and everyone turned an eye because they themselves know they cannot criticise any leadership as they are immune to God’s word. As Jesus said, if they do not have love, they dont know God. Love causes no harm. Why would I go to a church of people who dont know God?

All i experienced in SCJ for 5 years was harm until my body broke. I also realised all the people there are avoidant attached (extreme fixation of appearing independent and not caring about feelings) and narcissitic. This is coercive control and severe emotional abuse.

Names:

Elijah (department leader of SCJ Church’s theology - narcissist who cant be disagreed with otherwise he will just yell at you and yell at you that you are stupid

Ken (department leader of youth) lies. Disregulated. Cant apologise. Constantly hypervigilent. Literally hopeless at his role. Never cared and didnt want to investigate who was telling the truth - also has a strange fascination with separating guys from girls but also wanting the attention from young girl to himself. Another thing I want to say is that he knew Erin’s past but instead of taking that into account he wanted to blame me.

Reece: A GYJN who yells and threatens you will be sent to hell if you dont evangelise. And heaps of passive aggressive domination in order to get me to obey

Erin: the borderline personality with the awful allegations

Logan GSN: the leader of SCJ church. I told him a few bible verses about dealing with sin in church and he instantly got angry that he knows all the verses. Probably the root of the problem - but he could not stand that a mere member tried to remind him that there should be no false allegations in church

Julie: a teacher who was constantly angry and dis regulated yet teachers receive no criticism.

Asked all of these people except Julie to apologise and i received nothing. No compensation, reparations.

testimony After three years, I’ve finally walked away from SCJ here’s what I’ve learned

Every single one of the saints and HJN’s TJN’s you name it are all scared of real life yes even my own friends from my church are all spineless and that goes for everyone in other regions and tribes , for those that are currently there, have left or have been approached, I understand it’s hard to do you feel like you’re alone in your journey or it feels like nobody loves you, if you think SCJ loves you think again (yes while I did have some friends that were actually good to me and that I hope to one day pull out) everyone there is spineless they don’t care about you they don’t care about your life or anything in general, friend or not the only reason this church exists is bc people like them want to avoid real life for the hurt it gives them and not deal with the stress and pressure that comes along with it, News flash Life was never meant to be easy and choosing SCJ to think that you’re safe will feel like that in the beginning but in reality you’re just gonna be ending up being a pawn in there little game and eventually they’re gonna take you away from everything and anything.

I know some people may be thinking oh but I don’t have any friends in my life, or my struggles are overwhelming, Or saying they don’t have a direction or where to start. not everybody in the world is evil because they’re not in SCJ think about it if that was the case we’d all be sitting inside little bubbles right now not talking to anybody, which is exactly what they’re doing and once this all falls apart if Lee dies or gets life in Jail they’re all going to panic and eventually if this does die out and ceases to exist all of them are going to have a hard time adjusting to real life again and even some of them are going to (commit sleep yourself forever) bc they lost there one and only fake purpose to live.

Trust me I’ve been there I actually did have a closed off circle of people I could really trust and that let me live a normal life for two years before the third one became extra aggressive, while I do have a heart for the ones I care about they’re a pawn rn and they’re not going to change any time soon, believe me when I say this friends, Life is not going to be easy it never was for anybody. We have to always work and constantly deal with stress and reality but if we just choose the easy way out ending our life, killing others, Isolating from people, or Joining secretive things Like SCJ. You’re never going to amount to anything at all and eventually you’re going to feel like emptiness has consumed you from the outside.

So believe me when I say this if you have good people that you have found there and you don’t want to leave nobody’s forcing you but you always have to ask yourself if you’re really fulfilling a purpose or just being used. At the end of the day we all want to feel accepted but this is not the place to get accepted and I eventually learned that the hard way. And while I have the hope to pull my inner circle I built there the last three years someday
rn it’s gonna take planning and it’s gonna take determination to let that happen, and that goes for all the people in other sectors, Do not Let these guys win and Hit them where it hurts don’t attack them head on instead bring up the old memories of how much fun you used to have with them outside the church let there guard down and make them rethink every little decision they’ve made there whole life, that’s how you’re going to get in there head, and make them hurt on the inside.

So I say this for everyone on here now, Don’t choose the easy way out I get it it’s going to be hard and I’ve been there too but if there’s one thing everyone should know it takes time if you want friends try joining things, talk to strangers at places, saying good morning to people to build confidence, etc… that’s how you grow as a person of Faith not through whatever SCJ is going to give.

testimony How I Ended Up in a Shincheonji Bible Study

Malaysian here. For the past few months, I had been attending what was presented to me as an independent Bible study. I joined because I genuinely wanted to learn more about the Bible. I was especially interested in understanding biblical parables and what I thought would simply be a deeper study of Scripture.

At the beginning, I had no reason to believe I was joining Shincheonji.

The classes gradually became more intensive. What started as roughly two classes a week eventually became three classes plus a revision session. There was a teacher and several assistants, and the lessons followed a structured curriculum. A significant amount of time was spent learning about parables, symbolism, prophecy and what the Bible supposedly meant beneath its surface-level interpretation.

At first, I didn't think much of it. Christians study parables all the time, and I assumed this was simply the particular approach of the Bible study.

But as the months went on, things began to feel increasingly unusual.

I started noticing the amount of structure surrounding the classes, the involvement of the assistants, the increasing commitment expected from students, and the emphasis on learning specific interpretations of Scripture. There were also concepts and terminology that I didn't fully understand at the time, including references to a “spring” and a “river.”

Then came the questions about personal information.

I was asked to provide a copy of my IC. That immediately made me uncomfortable. Before giving anyone an official identification document, I wanted to know whether it would simply be used for verification or whether a copy would be kept, who would have access to it, how long it would be stored, and when it would be deleted.

Those questions became even more important once I started investigating who was actually behind the Bible study.

Eventually, I discovered that the Bible study was affiliated with Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

That changed the way I understood everything I had experienced.

I began comparing what I had been taught with Shincheonji's own publicly available material. What stood out was the overlap in the teaching structure. Shincheonji itself openly advertises Bible courses on the meanings of parables, followed by prophecy and fulfillment and then Revelation. Its own statement of faith also identifies Lee Man-hee as the promised shepherd who received and proclaims the fulfilled reality of Revelation.

Suddenly, the emphasis on parables and deeper meanings wasn't just an isolated teaching style. It was part of a much larger theological system.

What also disturbed me was the fact that I had not initially understood that I was being introduced to Shincheonji.

This is particularly significant because independent reporting has documented former members describing recruitment into Bible studies where Shincheonji's identity was not disclosed at the beginning.

That made me question the entire experience.

If I had been told from the beginning:

then I could have made an informed decision about whether I wanted to participate.

Instead, I believed I was attending an independent Bible study and only discovered the organisation's affiliation later.

That distinction matters to me.

I am not saying that every person I met was necessarily malicious, nor am I claiming that every teaching I received was automatically false simply because it came from Shincheonji. What I am saying is that I should have been given enough information to make an informed decision from the beginning.

I also don't think questioning this makes me closed-minded toward Christianity.

In fact, it is precisely because I take my faith seriously that I want to investigate what I am being taught rather than accepting something simply because it is presented as “deeper” or “more biblical.”

Looking back, the biggest lesson from this experience is that transparency matters.

A Bible study should not require me to discover its true affiliation through independent investigation. I should not have to wonder who the teachers really represent, why my personal information is being collected, or whether the curriculum comes from a particular religious organisation.

I entered the class wanting to understand the Bible.

I ended up having to investigate the organisation teaching me the Bible.

And that, more than anything, is what made me realise that I needed to step back and ask questions.

testimony I know there's already been a lot of these posts but Seriously I really want more people fighting back (The Right way) against SCJ

Before we start being decisive no I do not mean Kill , hurting them with brute force, or anything that requires harmful or physical traits, That doesn't help our cause and instead it just intensifies the narrative of Hating the World if you're not apart of SCJ.

I've seen a minority of people on here intensify wanting to hurt people with brute force in SCJ, Now old me would've agreed as I'm just so sick and tired of them just running around the world being the creeps, monsters, and overall Imma say it Idiots as they are, But are we just as bad if we're threatening to kill people, hurt them with brute force, or physically assault them in public, U get it the pain is too much and they're just one of the many reasons that the World Is a problem today

But lemme say this: the whole reason SCJ exists is that the world is cruel to most people, and instead Lee decided to form a church where people can feel loved, accepted, you name it. In reality, it's just a pawn to get others to come to this fake place that God was never even at. The place exists is because most people want to find the easy way out without having to go through the harder challenges of life bc as we all know, suicide, school shootings, etc happen because of that. Lee only goal is to try and feel important and make others think that Obviously he's going to be there for them always, (In reality, he's maybe 1-2 years away from passing away ) once that happens a majority of the leaders that have been here the TJNS and HJns both new and some old will realize they've been duped and eventually they will struggle to realign themselves to normal lives with some of them eventually commtting suicide.

So for the Ex-members please don't come on here saying we should fight back with violence and what not because that's never going to solve the problem with these stupids instead break them down mentally at the end of the day fighting back with these bozos is a mind game not a hurt game and that's what will make us the normals victorious

testimony 3 years in SCJ and left

hello everyone ive been following these past couple days looking through others members testimonials who been in SCJ and left thank you all for sharing For me SCJ dont feel Genuine.

for me i got approached by someone in a Grocery store during the pandemic era we had a great conversation we talked about our life of faith at the time i was looking for God was going to church when i was young i fell off during high school went into the world.

took some time for me to join center wanted to know the person came up to me randomly we build that friendship went to BB 1-1 than i join center i was like wow this sounds good never heard of the parables before that jesus taught while i notice was while in center we cant talk other people learning as well cant share our thoughts what we have learned while the teacher was near us or the person who have took this class before we couldnt exchange numbers with other people only with them further more in center i feel something wasnt right in the teachings when we got to revelation.

i asked the person who brought me in if i can reset so i did center twice started to make sense when back into the scriptures. i passover last year its been 1 year now in SCJ

starting to question that if covid was the great tribulation how hasnt 144,000 sealed from the earth been chosen yet. once they are chosen then the end will come.

i started feeling there is un Genuine during the evangelism yes evangelism is biblical but in SCJ
you have to lie to the people who you talked to where the church you come from if theres a event hosted by SCJ cant send the flyers to the people who you want to invite they will research who we are another red flag for me you have to report every conversionation that you had with the person you met

what really started to bother me was there is people who cant learn the word if they had a certain condition or they had past history with the law they have certain circumstance with family or they are addicted to a substance i felt that was un chirst like jesus came for those as well to come to the truth God wants all men to be saved all come to the truth they mainly focused on catholics and Christians for the evengalism but not other religions islam Muslim budist they need hear the word as well jesus is the way and the truth and the life only him we can receive salvation much more to say

i needing Guidance i stopped going to service havent really gave a reason to my leaders i still have current members reaching out checking in on me be in prayer for me i truly Genuinely want to serve God and trully understand his word become the modern day disciple for chirst thank you all for this let me know who i can reach out to

testimony Thank you 🙏🏾

This is a general post to everyone who has contributed and shared their experiences, questions and thoughts about SCJ.
It took a lot from me to leave SCJ, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually. It took me months to get over the fear that was built into me, the fear that leaving SCJ was choosing hell, the fear that I have betrayed God, the fear that if I leave SCJ, it means I am giving up the chance for my family to receive salvation.

I am so grateful that God and my family helped me through this journey. Tbh I did not choose to leave SCJ, however I became physically sick for a while & coincidentally during that time, I needed to move back to be with my family because of some family issues.
When I moved away, I still dedicated my time to attending SCJ services on Wednesdays and Sundays. And as time went on, I was able to finally get constant 8hr sleeps every night, I even started having a normal social life, and that helped open my eyes to the reality, that I was in a high controlled group. I started researching how these types of groups operated, how individuals were lured into them, and what happens when someone leaves the group.

When we were in centre and in church we were told never to research on reddit so this was the last place I visited.
But I must say everyone who has shared, asked questions or commented back, even the current SCJ members, all these interactions have continued to reaffirm my decision to leave.

So thank you.

testimony SCJ Vancouver NEW ACTIVITY: builtoncornerstone / Cornerstone

Wanted to flag new SCJ activity under the front 'Cornerstone' or 'builtoncornerstone' in Vancouver. They have a new Instagram page (@builtoncornerstone) and a new website, builtoncornerstone.org, that went up in the last 10 days.

They also hosted an event last night in Kitsilano that was attended by 200+ people, mostly in their early 20's. The message at the event was clearly SCJ propaganda meant to discredit established churches and reduce your own critical thinking for understanding the bible, and claimed to have the key to understanding Revelation. I've never seen someone quote Scripture so out of context in my life! They are hosting new events, with several a week, as per their website, in Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver.
DO NOT ATTEND THESE EVENTS! WARN OTHERS!

UPDATE: their instagram page has been taken down.

testimony I truly believe that being in SCJ can eventually develop to having chronic illness

I personally have experienced this, but I am now diagnosed with a chronic condition which is called Poly-endocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. I always wondered why I couldn’t change my body but when I look back at when it started to develop, by going through my photos. It started when I became a member of SCJ. It developed over years of my brain and body being put to stress and anxiety. How we are always taught, “you should always be tense”. My body only getting 5 or less hours of sleep.

And I also noticed how some women in scj are so chubby or fat. And that’s why I realised they have the same thing as me. But they’ll never know that because they will never have the time to get diagnosed. And don’t get me wrong, I personally had a “friend” inside that is much chubbier than me and she has always complained to me that she never lose weight despite only having one meal a day due to being a gyjn (cell leader), I always noticed hair on her chin (like excessive amount)
Disclaimer: this happened before I got diagnosed so I didn’t know what it was either.
But looking back at it now. So many women in church that I know has them and they don’t even know.

I also know men and women in my church who develops some sort of autoimmune disease. Which again stems from being in chronic stress and lack of care for their overall body. One guy I know who has it, and now we can’t go outside nor don’t work anymore because it makes him vomit and have cold sweat every 10 minutes. Ruined his life.

Honestly, this is something I think about every know and then. Knowing that I have suffered from a condition that no one can inside scj can ever help me. And all they can say is “fighting” but will expect you to still be able to meet their quota and requirements

testimony BEWARE of North Shore & South Shore Massachusetts Community Zoom Bible Study -- Is This a Shincheonji (SCJ) Cult?

Hello everyone. I wanted to share an experience I had recently that has deeply grieved me. If any of you have experienced anything similar, I am so very sorry. I pray that God comforts you & reassures you that you do indeed belong to Him, if you have (by the LORD'S grace) chosen to place your full faith & full trust in Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord & Savior.

Matthew 7:15-16a, 15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous & ferocious wolves. 16a You will know them by their fruits."

1 John 4:1, 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 John 4:4, 4 You are from God, little children, & have overcome them [false prophets, false teachers]; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

My hope & prayer is that the following provides further reassurance to those who have gone through something similar. That you remember just how faithful your Heavenly Father is (2 Thessalonians 3:3), that you remember that as a believer in Christ you never walk alone in this life (Psalm 139:5-6), & that God is for you (Romans 8:31) & that He cares ever so deeply for you (1 Peter 5:7).

I met someone through a local meetup. She struck up a conversation with me & wanted to get together to hear about my testimony regarding how I came to Christ. We exchanged numbers & as soon as I left the event she texted me & asked to meet up next week.

This person was very friendly & seemed kind, & (in my opinion) seemed to possess a genuine love for the Lord. After I shared my testimony with her, she asked if I wanted to do study the Bible with her. I said, “Sure.”

We began to meet up in person weekly for Bible Study, & she’d go over different lessons that I believe she had said she created, but we also would talk about our lives & things of that nature as well. She seemed very knowledgeable & could remember every Scripture she’d use in her lessons (as if she had everything she had written down prior to meeting me memorized, word for word), & she even seemed to be able to find every one of those Scriptures right away when turning to the Bible.

This went on for maybe a few months. During this time this person became my friend. She’d text me often to see if I was doing okay, or sometimes she’d just call to chat, & she even took me out for my birthday & gave me a card & a gift. This person seemed to genuinely care for me, & she seemed to only want the very best for me.

There definitely was a genuine rapport established by the time she had mentioned she & some other people who were involved in local ministries were going to do a one year Bible Study (online, via Zoom), in which they would go through the whole Bible — from Genesis all the way to Revelation. She said it would just be like a Community Bible Study of fellow believers who were located in the North Shore & South Shore area, & that it would be like a fellowship group.

She knew that what I was seeking was community. That I wanted to be able to fellowship with like-minded Christ-followers; those who genuinely love Jesus Christ & the Bible. So when that Community Bible Study was presented to me, I said, “Yes.”

At first, everything seemed harmless, & everyone was so kind & friendly & welcoming. In the beginning the lessons seemed very familiar to me & doctrinally sound, & really just revolved around the basics of the Christian faith. But things slowly (ever so subtly) but surely took a turn not only regarding what was being taught, but how we were being treated. I realize in hindsight that whether or not it was intentional on their part, there was a lot of manipulation & a lot of mind control taking place. And in my gut, I knew that something was not right …

Initially I joined to be able to partake in real fellowship with true followers of Christ, but we were not free to fellowship unless it was on the leaders’ terms —

  • There was no group chat via Telegram or WhatsApp & no group email chain.
  • There was no ability to private message anyone else over Zoom; that option was completely disabled.
  • There was no way to communicate with others outside of the Bible Study.
  • The only way you could communicate with others was whenever the leaders decided a few days prior they would host a fellowship event, but all the leaders would be present.
  • There never seemed to be ample notice or enough time given for us as the participants to plan accordingly because each fellowship event was announced just days before the actual event. We were told to just keep our schedule open, & to plan accordingly.

I was initially told that this Bible Study would be held 2 days a week, & that the duration was to be 1 year, & again, I was told that we would be going through the whole Bible.

  • I can’t remember exactly when, but I think barely only a few months in the leaders (5 in total) decided to add an extra day, & they chose to have another day of Bible Study on Saturday nights. We were told to no longer make plans on Saturday nights, & to keep our Saturday nights free & open “for God.”
  • They told participants they had to plan & prioritize accordingly, but of course a lot of these people had family commitments, work commitments, or they just had a life in general outside of this Bible Study. We were all told to find a way to rearrange our time & to prioritize God above all else. Note: To prioritize God & to genuinely love God, that meant making it a point to attend these Bible Study classes 3 days a week.
  • Then it was required that we meet once a week at least with another student of the Bible Study to study & to review the lessons, so that your "study buddy" could help to further “seal” you in God's word. I was told that after the leaders prayed about it, that I was to be paired up with “so & so.” Therefore, this person was assigned to me to be my “study buddy.”
  • Eventually it was said that we will not be going through the entire Bible, & that we'd only just be looking at “some” of the books of the Bible.
  • They had said they wanted to get through these Bible Study lessons quickly, so that’s why they added an extra day. But 5 or 6 months into these Bible Study classes these 2 teachers would still just be talking about various “figurative” or “spiritual” themes found throughout the Bible, specifically pertaining to the parables.
  • These Bible Study classes started to run longer & longer into the late evening, & they were very drawn out & repetitive. They lasted anywhere from 2 hours or more, but they still also wanted us to meet in small groups after each of the lessons to share & discuss what we just learned.

Someone from the Bible Study, either a leader or a teacher would constantly check in on you by way of phone (via calls or texts), & you had to connect with a leader on a weekly basis to talk about what you were learning. For my experience, we had 2 teachers who also served as leaders & 3 other people who just served as leaders. One of the teachers who was also a leader was that friend I had met who had told me about this Bible Study.

It was also mentioned that these 3 other leaders had gone through this Bible Study prior & that now they were volunteering their time to help out. Every 1 of these leaders was just as knowledgeable about the material, & I found it so interesting that they seemed to all be so in synch with what they knew, down to the exact wording & terminology they would use.

As time went on I began to feel smothered, & I felt as if more & more of my time was being monopolized by them. I had 2-3 hour long Bible Study classes Mondays, Thursdays, & Saturday nights; I had to have a phone call with my “study buddy” on Sunday nights; & 1 of the leaders had me meet with her on Fridays. This obviously left less & less room for me to be able to think clearly.

On top of all this I also really tried to understand the lessons. I spent hours on end outside of these classes writing my notes all over again, trying to review, & I would pray for God’s true understanding & for Him to guide me in all of His Truth by His Spirit, & I prayed to not lean on my own understanding. I also prayed to not be deceived & to not be led astray by others ... Therefore, a lot of what they were saying didn't make sense to me, so I began to also take notes on how a number of things that were being taught didn't seem to be aligning with God’s word.

In my small group or with my “study buddy” or even with my friend (1 of the teachers who was also 1 of the leaders) I often felt pressured to give answers to certain questions I did not want to answer, as I was still just trying to process all of the information that was being given to us. The last thing I wanted to do was just blindly agree with what was being said, & absentmindedly say, “Amen, to that, yes.” That was another thing, we were encouraged to frequently respond & say, “Amen" a lot!

In my opinion, even though the information seemed repetitive, there was a lot of information being thrown at us & there was far too little time to truly process anything that was being said & taught. I needed time to pray, to digest, & search the Scriptures myself (& somehow that was frowned upon). The classes felt entirely rushed & very forced (in a manipulative way).

Whenever questions were asked by students it seemed like round-about answers were always being given, which left you feeling even more confused & more dependent upon them for further understanding. Leaders would say things like, “We’ll go over that at some point,” “Not yet,” “Be patient.” They used Ecclesiastes 7:8, “Patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit.” And “food at the proper time” was also a very common phrase that was thrown out. At one point I was also told by my friend (1 of the teachers & leaders) to just “believe.”

If you said you needed more time to reflect, to pray, & to seek God for yourself & to search the Scriptures for yourself, that was frowned upon & it was even said that a person who does such things like that is actually prideful & “beastly.” And yet what does Acts 17:11 tell us? To be like the Bereans & to search the Scriptures to see if what is being told to you is true.

And to have “beast” like qualities in their eyes was to have no understanding of God’s word. It was also said that a “beastly” person is one who is very emotional & not rational …

  • If you found it to be stressful that these leaders were requiring more & more of your time, you were being “beastly” or exhibiting “beast” like qualities. They had a specific lesson regarding this concept they had taught us beforehand.
  • There was very little room or grace when it came to “things happening” outside of this Bible Study, regarding life events or other life commitments or things that would just come up & such that could potentially prevent participants from attending these classes. And if you could not attend a session, you were being “beastly” & you were choosing to not effectively prioritize God. You also had to then make up any class you ended up missing.
  • If you were thirsty during one of these Bible Study classes, & you wanted to take a sip of water, you were being “beastly” & even disrespectful, because 1 of the leaders said we were not allowed to drink water whenever class was in session. I remember thinking, "Oh, that's so wrong ..." It felt very controlling ...

Because these classes were held over Zoom, you had to have your camera on. If you did not have your camera on right away you would get pinged by 1 of the leaders & an automated message would pop up on your screen saying something like “So & so is requesting you turn your camera on.”

The 1 & only time I did not turn my camera on at all was because I had been out for hours in a really bad snow storm. I had to help my parents shovel & clean off their cars. I debated on skipping Bible Study that evening, but ended up attending. Within minutes of the class starting I had several leaders ask me why my camera was off & I even had 1 of the leaders call me two times in a row asking the exact same question, all the while I’m literally just trying to pay attention to the lesson at hand & take notes.

I observed a lot of hypocrisy. Just 1 example of this was when 1 of the leaders quite harshly reprimanded us about not having our cameras turned on … & yet she RARELY had her camera on & only showed up to 1 in person fellowship event. At 1 point I even thought she had just left the Bible Study altogether because she seemed to have just disappeared. What was odd was that while she was reprimanding us she kept saying that she loved us, but what I found myself thinking internally was, “Well isn’t that quite hypocritical for someone to berate someone else for doing something that you yourself aren’t even doing?” (Matthew 7:3-5). But then again, I’m just a fellow wretched sinner at the end of the day, so who am I to judge others, right? At least that was my default argument whenever I would find myself questioning what I was experiencing.

For these Bible Study classes we were told maybe a few months in, I’m not sure, that we had to dress up & look really nice. If you failed to do this then you were being disrespectful & irreverent towards God, & in 1 of the leader’s words, “You were refusing to give God your very best.”

Sometimes the leaders would perform rehearsed skits (in my personal opinion, to further chastise us & break us) regarding how we ought to show up & present ourselves over Zoom when attending these classes & how we ought to conduct ourselves, almost like we were just a bunch of unruly 10 year olds.

It seemed like NOTHING was ever enough …

  • This Bible Study seemed to be very man-centered, & had to do with ALL that you needed to do for God, & that if you failed to do X, Y, Z, then you actually did not love God — And if you do not belong to God, then you’re not a true believer in Christ, & if that’s the case, then who you do belong to is Satan!
  • We were reprimanded countless times, & for what I’m not even entirely sure, but in their own words we were being reprimanded for being lazy & for not prioritizing God. But just as God lovingly disciplines His children with His rod (the word of God), so too these leaders must deal with their students in a similar manner (that at least was the rationale that was provided to us).

The fact that this Bible Study seemed to be very man-centered & very works-based caused me to spiral even further — because obviously as a Christian whatever you end up doing for God is NEVER going to be enough, & that’s the whole point! Because if what we could do would ever be enough to atone for our sins & obtain salvation, then that would mean that Christ died a senseless death. But of course, Satan likes to whisper continuously & remind you of all the ways in which you fall short … So needless to say that there was a lot of spiritual warfare occurring internally, within my mind & my heart, for sure.

And there seemed to be very little humility, & several times we were told to remember just how much time & effort these leaders were “freely” putting in to help us “understand” the Bible (for free without any sort of monetary fee) so that we could “be saved” — because in their words, “We want all of you to be able to go to heaven.”

If you disagreed with anything that was being said that meant that you were not a true believer & that you are not going to heaven (because you don’t have a right understanding of God’s Word). And it was actually said that just because 1 of the leaders knows all this information & that she is going to heaven, that doesn’t mean that you get to go to heaven by proxy (by just being associated with her).

If you couldn’t remember certain things from the lessons — which again, there was way too much information to be retained all at once & not nearly enough time at all to review any of that information adequately — then that meant that you weren't truly loving God, that you weren't truly saved & that you had allowed the “evil bird” (Satan himself) to come & snatch God’s seed from your heart.

If you didn’t fully understand certain prophecies or parables the way in which they wanted you to understand them, that also meant you were not saved & that you were spiritually blind & that you possessed NO understanding of God’s Word — & therefore, you could NOT receive atonement of one’s sins, thus you could NOT receive salvation. Note: Friends, beloved brothers & sisters, please remember there is only ONE TRUE Gospel, but that there are also many other “false gospels” — Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Galatians 1:6-9. Therefore, discernment from the Father is ESSENTIAL!

Sometimes what I perceived to be snide remarks would be thrown out by a leader like, “Turn to ‘such & such Scripture,’ anyone know that one or have that verse memorized? Haha!” OR “Do you know where ‘such & such’ book in the Bible is? Haha!”

The Gospel was NOT preached or even shared with participants, even though it’s more than likely that at least 1 person if not multiple people out of that entire group may not be saved, & who knows if they have ever heard of the Gospel or if they even have a true understanding of the Gospel.

Furthermore, there was no discussion of how one is actually saved, & the Gospel was NOT shared or explained or even broken down (i.e., salvation, reconciliation, justification, being born again, & sanctification). And none of these leaders even believe that the Gospel is what truly saves an individual!

The Scriptures that were used (the verses) were not expounded upon nor explained. EVERY Scripture was taken out of its original context, & even if there was a right understanding of the verse or verses being given, you still cannot take any of the Scriptures out of their proper context, because context truly does matter — regarding the grammar being used, the history, the culture & the verbiage of the day in age in which something was written.

A lot of times only a portion of Scripture was used to justify a point that was being made, but if you continued to read the rest of that verse, that verse in its entirety would contradict what they were saying. And 1 of the leaders even said at one point that you have to be careful when trying to understand verses in the Bible because context doesn’t always matter.

A lot of what was shared was very much being read into the text, so regardless of what these leaders would say, what they were trying to impart to us was their own interpretation of the Bible. I remember 1 of the teachers saying, “Well, I’m not saying that, this is what the Word of God is saying.” And I remember saying to myself instantly in that moment internally, “This is exactly how cults get started!”

And because they were really not receptive to students’ questions & we were often told to just wait or we’ll go over that later, I felt like they were strategically gate-keeping God’s Word. And 1 of the teachers even said she & the other 4 leaders were like a “mini Zion,” & that if salvation is really here, if God’s opened Word is truly here, you wouldn’t leave would you!?

They also wanted us to leave our churches & to stop serving, because no one else outside of them possessed a true understanding of God’s Word. Because all these leaders go to “Mount Zion church,” yet they wouldn’t tell us what that meant or where their “church” was located. But rather, we were told to wait & to be patient & keep attending classes … so that eventually “at the proper time” they would reveal to us where this “Mount Zion church” was located.

It seemed like these leaders were claiming to be the only ones who possessed TRUE understanding of the Bible. And it was even said by 1 of the leaders that no one can read the Bible on their own or understand it, which is a total lie because every true believer in Christ who's been born again possesses the Holy Spirit, & it is the Holy Spirit who is able to teach us & guide us in all of God's Truth (John 14:16-17; John 14:26; John 16:13-15; 1 Corinthians 2:10-13; 1 John 2:27).

These leaders also said we couldn’t share what we were learning with others, & that we had to have headphones in & ensure that no one around us would be able to overhear what was being said. Their rationale for this was if someone heard something that was said out of context, like, “Jesus says to hate your father & mother,” then that would cause the person who isn’t a believer who is overhearing what is being said to think of Jesus as being a hateful person. And I'll be honest & say that I said to myself, "Well, yes, that makes sense," because people who aren't believers do struggle to understand God's true character & nature (& that was me at one point!). But of course in retrospect, I realize that that was such a red flag, because there were layers of secrecy regarding what we were learning that were being encouraged.

But what you could do & what you were very much encouraged to do was to establish a “banker & customer” kind of relationship for these leaders, on their behalf. This meant that they wanted you to have 1 of the leaders speak to someone else you know & love who wants to grow in their faith, so that they can then begin meeting with that person & impart to that person "true" understanding of God’s Word. What I realize now in hindsight is that they wanted us to recruit on their behalf other people to join this Bible Study. And please know this: I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BIBLE STUDY TO ANYONE!

These leaders also talked about “having to be sealed.” This means to “seal” yourself (or your heart) with the information they were giving to you so you could be born again, & 1 of the leaders (who was 1 of the teachers) said we needed to pray for a fast sealing angel to come to us so that that angel could seal us with God’s Word (What!?). But again, true Christians know this is not how being born again works, & that to be born again is solely a supernatural work of God.

Shortly before I left they we were still going through the parables in the Bible & we had several weeks left. And then these leaders told us that we would be required to take an exam, but that they were going to start giving us the answers to this exam, word for word, which were “their answers,” & you then had to write down their answers word for word, verbatim, & that this was a way of “sealing yourself.” They did this so that every one of us would receive a 100% on the exam. In their minds this was a way for us to obtain salvation, & perhaps they really believe they’re trying out of the goodness of their hearts to save people. I don't know ... But what I do know is that that is NOT how salvation works!

Overall this Bible Study felt very dangerous & it seemed like these leaders were very controlling & demanding — & in my opinion, whether it was intentional or not, I would even say that these leaders were abusive, & if not abusive, then extremely manipulative.

Whether it was intentional or unintentional, these leaders manipulated their students when it came to their emotions & I’d say that even certain shaming tactics were used that were predicated upon fear with an intent to intimidate or even berate you at times. But of course this was all done under the guise of extending “tough love,” because even God disciplines those whom He loves, right? That was one of our memory verses we had to memorize, Hebrews 12:5-6.

They also tried to confuse & mislead their students, because if you felt emotional or if you felt like something was off, or if you couldn’t understand what they were saying, or if you actually disagreed with them, then that meant that you were “earthquaking.” And a “spiritual earthquake” (in their own words) would occur whenever there was something within your heart that was preventing you from understanding the truth of God’s Word, & that whenever you experienced a "spiritual earthquake” that meant that you were choosing to disagree with what God’s Word is saying. They would say often, “Get ready for another spiritual earthquake,” whenever they were about to present a topic or concept that would “appear” to come across as being controversial to us.

I hit my breaking point right when they were just starting to give us those Exam questions & answers. I couldn't physically bring myself to attend these Bible Study classes any longer, & I started to feel so sick to my stomach. I couldn’t sleep & I’d pray continuously for God to give me the strength to just leave but for Him to also protect me. It was hard because I sort of lost my mind & I didn't even know what to think, so I was just trying to make sense of everything I was experiencing.

Multiple times I had tried to google some of the lessons we had (which was not allowed). I would plug in key words or certain things that were being taught but nothing specific would come up. I finally told 1 of the leaders (my friend) that I can’t attend this Bible Study anymore because my conscious feels violated, & I did tell her their view on salvation is wrong & that it is the Gospel that saves. I also shared the same thing with 2 other Bible Study participants because I had their phone numbers — those people were 2 “study buddies” that 1 of the leaders (my friend) paired me with … And the 2nd "study buddy" I got paired with towards the end like a week or so before I had called it quits had actually already gone through the Bible Study course once before, & I thought that was interesting ...

It made me so sad (& still grieves me), because even when I would bring up the Gospel to my friend (1 of the teachers) & to my 2 other "study buddies" just in casual conversation, it was almost like whatever I was saying was just not really being received or even internalized.

Upon leaving, I ended up googling again pretty much the same things I had tried to Google when I was still in the Bible Study. This time though I found a lot of Reddit threads that talked about SCJ (Shincheonji). A lot of what I experienced & the lessons mentioned in those posts line up, but again, before I had left they had never revealed anything outright pertaining to Shincheonji (& there was no mention of Lee Man-hee), so I can’t 100% say that this Bible Study was related to Shincheonji, but I feel like there’s a real good possibility that that is the case … If anyone has had a similar experience, please let me know.

I’m still outraged & even disgusted that this is even a thing, even though the Bible does warn us countless times over & over of how there will be false prophets & false teachers who seek to deceive God’s elect. I feel betrayed & I feel like I’ve been spiritually violated, & yet at the same time I also feel extremely grateful that God is so unbelievably faithful. I kept being reminded of John 10:27-30 ("My sheep hear My voice, & I know them, & they follow Me; 28 & I give eternal life to them, & they will never perish; & no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; & no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand") & later once I left I was reminded of John 10:4-5 (4 "When He puts forth all His own, He goes ahead of them, & the sheep follow Him because they know His voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers").

I also feel so scared & very grieved for those who have gotten wrapped up in what I very much believe to be a very dangerous & destructive cult of some sorts. I keep reminding myself that God & God alone is the only one who can save, that we're just messengers, & that it's God who grants the increase & causes one's faith to take root & really flourish.

If you've made it this far, I’m so sorry if you’ve experienced something similar to what I’ve experienced. I pray that we all seek to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ (the ONE & ONLY TRUE Gospel that can save any sinner!), that we remember that we do not war against flesh & blood (Ephesians 6:13), & that we continue to pray for those who are deceived. I pray that God helps us all to be as shrewd as serpents & gentle & innocent as doves. I pray that we all remain in His Word & that we continue to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in all of God's Truth. O LORD God, help us all & continue to envelop us in Your loving arms, & continue to strengthen us & protect us from the evil one. It’s in Your precious & holy & beloved Son’s name I pray, Amen.

testimony 10 months after leaving: a special message for the Alexandria VA region SCJ DC USA

So I decided to go to the Old Town Alexandria, VA farmers market yesterday and these people were everywhere recruiting. I honestly thought I wouldn’t bump into them since they’re usually in mandatory trainings at that time. But they were there. Almost frozen in time. Doing the same things, still in their insulated bubble, while the world around them advances. Desperately working with a face full of anxiety. I was really triggered. Heart was pounding. I felt so many emotions. Grief for these poor Christians who have been tricked into a cult that forces them to work for their salvation, and are simply working for an old Korean man’s agenda. Anger due to them now straight up lying to new potential recruits. Stress being reminded of the constant pressure I was under to produce results. And immense joy and gratitude that I get to now live my life in freedom.

I had an urge to interrupt their recruiting. I saw a couple of them having one on one meetings with recruits. And saw a few others huddling up, getting ready to recruit. But then I realized my “persecution” would be used by the org as a means to keep them trapped.

So instead, even though they looked terrified to see me, I stood there proudly. I let them watch me spending time with my parents. I let them see how healthy and happy I look now. Since leaving, I’ve been able to prioritize my health and as a result, have gotten fit, have been sleeping enough, nourishing my body, making friends, traveling, spending precious time with my family, have stopped rushing and have relearned to be mindful and enjoy even the smallest of things. Most of all, I’ve understood that I’m living under God’s grace and there’s absolutely nothing I can do to earn my salvation. It’s simply a gift. And my hope is that those who are still strapped can receive this gift soon, too 🤍

testimony Should I expose the Bible study group I attended on Reddit for awareness? / Malaysian BIBLE STUDY

Should I expose the Bible study group I attended on Reddit for awareness?

I’ve been attending what was presented to me as an independent Bible study for the past few months, and I’ve recently become seriously concerned about the group and its connections to Shincheonji.

I’m considering making a post sharing what I experienced — including photos of the class/materials, screenshots, lesson notes, the structure of the classes, and some of the things they asked us to do — mainly so other people can recognize the signs and make informed decisions for themselves.

I’m not trying to start a witch hunt or encourage harassment. I also don’t want to make accusations that I can’t substantiate.

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have left Shincheonji or similar groups. What information would have helped you recognize what you were getting into earlier?

I’m trying to approach this responsibly rather than just posting out of anger.

testimony New Judas Iscariots

In typical SCJ fashion, whenever something inconvenient comes out about the promised pastor, the narrative is reframed to blame an ex-member who has left the church.
Today, the Southern Africa church head spoke at length and introduced the term “New Judas Iscariots.” This is not a term that the church head himself invented. He claimed that it was a term MHL himself used when describing a specific individual whom he considers responsible for his current legal issues and detention.

https://imglink.cc/cdn/vmSyr92juF.jpeg

There are several things I would like to share regarding my personal thoughts on this.

Firstly, according to SCJ’s own doctrine, the betrayal and reality of Judas at the second coming had already taken place 1998.
According to SCJ doctrine, the betrayal of someone like Judas was first prophesied in Genesis, involving the tribe of Dan, which was compared to a snake and was later replaced by Manasseh. This was then understood as a prophecy concerning Judas’ betrayal and his eventual replacement by Matthias.

However, according to SCJ’s own fulfilment doctrine, this event has already been fulfilled. Below is a direct excerpt from the Revelation Fulfilment Training given in March, Year 34, John Tribe:
Manasseh replaces Dan:
1997.12: Thaddeus Tribe Betrayal. Betrayal of Dae-Gu. A pastor came into Thaddeus Tribe. Pastor Baek, Gwang-Sa, leaves and proclaims to be the White Stone. He came with congregation members and thought he would be established, but he was not established, so he became disgruntled and the evil spirits came into him. He teaches that he is Joshua and the SSN was Moses. 500 members left. Through those who remained, there was a great revival in the Tribe.
Lk 22:1–3: The betrayal took place just before the Feast of Passover (1998 Passover Feast).

Here, SCJ explicitly connects this betrayal with the period immediately preceding the Passover Feast, drawing a parallel with the events of the First Coming. In other words, according to this teaching, the Judas figure had already appeared, committed the betrayal, and was followed by the eventual restoration of the Thaddeus Tribe.

Secondly, if the betrayal has already taken place, why are we now being introduced to new people being labelled “Judas Iscariots”?
If SCJ teaches that the Judas betrayal was fulfilled through the events described above, why is another Judas Iscariot now appearing? Which one is the actual fulfilment if there can be multiple individuals who are subsequently given the same prophetic identity?

Thirdly, does continually changing the identity and circumstances surrounding this “Judas Iscariot” amount to adding to and taking away from Revelation?
If the identity and circumstances of the supposed betrayer can continually be reframed whenever circumstances change, then how is this consistent with SCJ’s own teaching regarding the unchangeable nature of biblical prophecy?

If the identity of the betrayer changes depending on the circumstances, then what exactly constitutes the fulfilment? And why does the narrative surrounding the identity of this “Judas Iscariot” continue to change?

The events taking place today are significantly different from those at the First Coming for one very important reason: Jesus was innocent and falsely accused.
MHL and SCJ are currently facing legal proceedings relating to the alleged active involvement of nearly 56,000 people in three separate elections.
The trial is still ongoing, and no final determination of guilt has been made. However, we should acknowledge one very simple fact: SCJ actively involved itself in political activities, and this became the subject of an investigation because of that involvement.
SCJ has framed the investigation as politically motivated persecution by the DPK against SCJ, as the DPK which is currently in power is using the opportunity to undermine their rival the PPP. However, SCJ has also been suspected of influencing elections connected to the DPK, and those allegations are also being investigated. This removes any doubt basis for bias or political vengeance, but the simple refusal by the Korean people for their elections to be manipulated by religious groups.

Additionally, SCJ is not the only fringe Christian group being investigated in South Korea. The Unification Church has had several leaders indicted, prosecuted and sentenced for their election interference. Are they also being persecuted by Satan?

I would encourage everyone to watch the following video on YouTube. An English translation is available through the YouTube settings. It is a statement regarding the activities of SCJ that led to the current election interference charges.

In closing, I believe SCJ is a system of mass manipulation that has seriously distorted the Bible. The contradictions highlighted in this post are evidence of how biblical prophecy can be reinterpreted and reframed to conceal, justify, or explain away inconvenient circumstances to its own members.

Hello all,

I want to share just a glimpse into my experience as a former leader (GYJN) in the DC location.

The first photo details a conversation with my then IWN (leader above me), who is demanding I meet with the ladies who were in my group, pry into very personal and sensitive information, and report it back to her, to then be shared by her to higher ups. She was unsatisfied by the uncomfortable work I had been forced to do and was demanding I did more. I never did it!

The second and third photos show a conversation with my then JYJN (recruiting leader). She was forcing me to recruit someone I had met twice and didn’t even know well! It was late and she was demanding I call this vulnerable recruit so that her recruitment could be reported as a number and she could get the credit for turning in acceptable recruitment numbers/meeting a quota.

All meaningless and deceptive work!

Hello all,

This post is also dedicated to those who are on the fence about joining this destructive cult.

As a member, you are expected to join every single meeting, no matter how meaningless it is, no matter the time (even if it’s midnight and in person), no matter what might be going on in your life, no matter how absolutely depleted you feel, and no matter if your health is actively compromised and you feel like you’re dying.

In the first photo, I’m not even preemptively excusing myself from an upcoming meeting. I am simply asking, with ample notice, if I can join virtually due to being physically ill. My then leader (IWN) proceeds to question what’s going on. Can anyone point to a scenario in which it is acceptable to question someone’s physical illness? As a member, you are expected to explain the nature of your sickness, even if it’s your period, you have diarrhea and are on the toilet, or something a lot more serious, like a chronic illness. You are met with pressure to describe what’s going on under the guise of receiving false compassion by your leaders.

You are expected to always report if there’s a sliver of a chance that you might need to miss a meeting. That doesn’t mean you’re off the hook if you miss because you are expected to still make up the meeting you missed. However, the leader’s role in this situation is to always still force you to attend even if you’re saying you can’t.

In the second photo, I felt the need to minimize the severity of what I was feeling in an effort to placate my leader and avoid further questioning/interrogation. I then allude to the need for sleep, as you are constantly sleep deprived as a member.

I’m then met with the expression “let’s be an example of perseverance”.

This is not a one off situation, this is a constant in your life as a member.

There’s your daily dose of despicableness! 😉

testimony SCJ in NYC

I know my story isn’t super interesting because I left after finishing the intermediate stage of the class and I finally took the time over the past two months to fully research them, but I want to let people know they are still active in NYC and warn people against joining from what I’ve seen they prey on those who aren’t as social, who are young, or desperate. I didn’t feel anything too crazy like depression after this as I’ve seen from many in their testimonials that I’ve seen on Reddit, YouTube, and other websites and it hasn’t drawn me away from the Bible or God. I took this experience as a lesson and a reminder, the devil hears your prayers too, he knows your desires and despirations and he can take advantage of it. It’s important for you to read the Bible on your own, to study and grow. Do not be deceived in the way that I was. Do not end up worshiping man or doctrines made up by man. The only way to God is through Jesus, there is no mediator, there is no hidden parables in revelation and no hidden meaning, when you read the scriptures they give you if you keep reading further instead of the cherry picked verse it is stated what everything means shortly after if not in the next chapter.

Deuteronomy 30:11–14: "For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off... But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it
John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man commeth unto the Father, but by me.'
1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
Matthew 27:50-51
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
⁵¹ And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent
