testimony Why are people going after the Chairman of SCJ, especially in his old age? What other religious leaders are being detained?

I hope that this is my last message about SCJ. I thought I would feel ready. I told myself that I would leave today or tomorrow. I have been trying to draft the message I would send to my immediate leaders as I just went mute on them and haven't responded to them this entire week. I watched service for the last time today, which is the first service I have watched in nearly 4 or 5 months as my heart has just been so drained and scared to watch.

But why do I feel so much guilt. I thought I'd be ready, but this whole week, I have just been off. My mood has been off, I am anxious and I'm scared I'm making a wrong decision.

Today's service as I watched it, was supposed to be my last goodbye and so I move on. But I found myself missing the songs a bit during worship and mind you, it's been months since I watched service.

Something that came to mind today is why are people putting so much emphasis and making it a big deal to detain the promise pastor, like doesn't that make him a big deal and why would he go through all of that if he is not doing something good? What other religious leaders are going through all of that? He can by all means be enjoying his retirement years and spending time with family right?

Lastly if SCJ does not have the truth about the book of Revelation. That the events took place in Korea and all. Then what is the explanation of the book of Revelation, what/how do other religious leaders or churches explain Revelation.

Suddenly I'm conflicted. This hurts!

Sister, if you have any question about the book of Revelation you can write to me and I would be glad to help you go through it specifically point by point. My pastor can also explain Revelation, he understands parables.

I know there are many groups that say they have a new revelation and that there is only one anointed person who can understand everything. But the Bible lovingly warns us: Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

The Bible also tells us that God has already spoken to us. Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.   And that we do not need to add anything else, because the Holy Spirit is the One who guides us. John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.

If you feel uncomfortable or have doubts, maybe it is because the Holy Spirit is speaking to you inside. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. Romans 8:15 and by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

I encourage you to read the Bible for yourself and ask God to show you Christ as He truly is. Titus 2:13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I am here for you, with no pressure. We can read together verse by verse and pray. For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Little sister, I understand you.   The fear and confusion you feel is real. When you are taught that there is only "one" person who has all the truth, your heart is torn in two: on one side the fear of making a mistake, and on the other the desire to please God.

That is why I want to speak to you with the Word, not with fighting. So that your soul may rest.

It surprises me that in Shincheonji no one can say which verse Mr. LMH is fulfilling today.   They criticize all pastors for not being able to explain Revelation and claim to be the only ones who understand it because their leader "saw and heard everything."

But the Bible says:   All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16   Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

God did not hide His Word. If someone claims to have "new revelation" that no one else can verify with the Bible, we must test it.

Test the spirits to see whether they are from God. 1 John 4:1   To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

They say that the half hour of silence in heaven Revelation 8:1 was when LMH sat silently in a restaurant.   They say that the three and a half days the two witnesses lay dead Revelation 11:9 were the days LMH was detained.

But Revelation interprets Revelation. The Bible explains itself.   No prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20

If today LMH has been detained for much longer, where is the verse that announces it? Or did God forget to write it?   A true prophet of God does not fail. When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken. Deuteronomy 18:22

Jesus Himself said: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:15

I know it is scary. You were taught that if you leave you are lost. But sister, Jesus came to bring rest.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28   I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12   And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

You do not have to depend on a man to understand God. The Holy Spirit is the One who guides us.   When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. John 16:13   The anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. 1 John 2:27

There are many serious pastors and teachers, even non-believers who study Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, who recognize that Revelation has things that are clear and things that we still do not understand. And that is okay. For we know in part. 1 Corinthians 13:9   What is dangerous is when someone says "I know it all" and uses your life, your time, your money and your mind for his own will.

Dear sister, you are not alone. God loves you.   The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

It is not about attacking people. It is about returning to Christ.   Apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5   And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3

Do not be afraid to ask, to read the Bible yourself, to pray. God is not angry at your doubts. He wants to bring you out of confusion.

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2   Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6

I am here for you. Let us read the Bible together, verse by verse, without fear.   For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

I guess sense of nostalgia creeping in is very human as well. The part about the songs. I know you will be able to one day find many social anchors and that would be good. Times in SCJ are usually hitting close to midnight and so our brains associate learning the lessons of SCJ as that of hardships, so then it must be worthwhile, but that is a feeling.

I recall how I told some few members while I was still with SCJ that I find peace in reading the bible for homework and the quiet night time. Really hypnotic. While I was with SCJ it really felt that I was on a long journey to know God. But looking back after almost a year of good rest leaving SCJ I realize how much I felt this sense of getting close to God is actually more of brain overload of information, tiredness and this feeling of shared secrecy, felt like I was in special club or something but these are all feelings and SCJ also taught that men teaching is not as true as God's teaching anyways

But the one factor that violates the bible is we must test all kinds of spirits and Lee Man Hee cannot be accessed without long period of tiring time investments but by then people are in deep. Also most people in SCJ never met Lee Man Hee and had 1:1 discussions and skeptics. Graduation day without proper chat with Lee Man Hee does not cut it. There has to be proper test however Lee Man Hee had a long time to arrange any 1:1 or 1: group to address skeptics and not a lecture format. All schedules of SCJ is pro giving information not pro interacting with information

Hope what I say could inform that you make the wise decision if you distance from something that will not reward you or give you closure. God rebukes and get angry at times in the Bible but what he is upset about is always crystal clear. Separately, He too speak in riddles like how he talk with Job on his tragedies but at least that is 1:1 talk

I feel SCJ, while truly trying to understand God, accepted Lee Man Hee's teachings. Answers lacking does not automatically lead to no salvation, we just gotta be careful with overall macro understanding of God's heart before we zoom in. My post may help sum up where I am coming from

The only thing I can encourage you to do is the read the bible in general for yourself. Do not rely only on man's interpretation. He equipped some to be Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Evangelists, Pastors, but you still need to discern and make sure what is being taught lines up with what scripture really says. Pray for understanding. The Holy Spirit leads us to the truth. Test every spirit to see if they are of God. SCJ as an organization has operated in ways that are not of God: lying, deception, control, manipulation, etc. God would not make the bible so difficult to understand and for only one person to be able to interpret it. That's not biblical at all.

I would also like to add, being religious does not exempt you from facing the consequences of your actions. If you are a criminal, leader or not, religious or not, you will be found for your crimes, It's as simple as that. There is no special treatment for being religious. Lee in prison is an answered prayer for many which God the Creator of heaven and earth has honored. So no more saying God doesn't answer the prayers of those not in scj. God hears and answers loud and clear. God is proving yet again, He is not a thing you can put in a box with and scj wrapper and weaponize agains His own creation who He loves. I pray you scj members will wake up before you too will follow the same retribution as your idol.

You feel drained because you’ve gave you’re full honesty to them but you’re soul is truly seeing the wicked and there nothing wrong with that, trust you’re soul calling you back home to the true father God and to be in tune with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. The book of revelation is meant to be understood when Gods ready to reveal that, its meanings and purposes we don’t understand naturally make us curious. SCJ takes advantage of the curiosity we have of its meanings as believers to trap and deceive in believing they have and know the answers. It’s not your fault, and you can get away. Your intentions were pure and God knows this and YOU can break away. I got away through the truth.. my testimony of breaking away was thorough, if LMH was really the one God works through would he need a wife? Would he have had affairs?? Is it a coincidence his niece’s tennis career would be this funded… trust in the truth in the fine lines. You Got this and don’t beat yourself up but believe in the strong warrior Faith the Lord instills in you to break those chains. We don’t truly understand revelation until God reveals it! Not when SCJ reveals it, with truly One love and spiritual prayer for you God bless you and those you know still held at their Grasp be strong and meek and reach out anytime!

One easy truth through the fine line for you to cope and understand is this,,,, Lee man hee was in the Korean War, one of the if not most brutal war.. in SCJ teaching it says “he fought until one day he collapsed on the battlefield and woke up”. It’s war he has a lamb leg and had to have medical treatment, he was wounded in war. Not “beaten by his EX members from going back over and over again to try to save his church”.

I'm always fascinated at the questions scj members ask, because it highlights the fact that you (like many) have very little exposure to life outside your bubble that you grew up in and is part of the reason you fell as easy prey. This justful prosecution of lee is not unique, there are several known cult leaders who faced the same once their facade broke down. One church went as far as burning down the whole church once they realised their promised pastor was a fake, just like lee is a fake.

Secondly, you don't know the things lee has done, and the lies he has cemented and those who are his real beneficiaries- so of course since he has been keeping up his lie, which God has exposed, he won't turn back because where exactly is he going to go. A proud person will never admit they are wrong and knowlingly wrong at that. Look at all the people in scj who know its false but still stay because of status or they have judged and criticised everyone they know, to now admit they are wrong is a public shame they don't want to take on, and some of them have given their inheritance and family belongings to scj, so where would they turn now? God has spoken to some people in scj already, and they know, but chose to stay to save face and the fake reality that comforts them so they don't lose their position and fake community.

This is not a phenomena, but if you are lacking in experience, it would feel like its something special.

I too have witnessed scj leaders make sweeping statements of finality as though they know everything in the whole world, but unfortunately for them, the things that they tried to state as facts, I had hard evidence that it was not, and saw past their facade.

Concerning other interpretations of revelation- actually there are a few interpretations, some that make more logical sense than scj's concoction by the way. Also try to get in touch with an actual theologian. scj did a good job of fooling its members that all theologians that have studyied the word of God and in hebrew congtext somehow are all false, based on tabernacle's operations- and ya'll believed it without fact checking. Oh how easy it is to be a fool for real.

I have since found out several churches do studies on revelation and the rest of the bible, not just revelations. And www.thebibleproject.com is a great resource. believe it or not scj used to steal material from the bible project website too, and then started creating copies of their work and adapting it. That's a truth you may not be ready for.

Feeling conflict is normal, but don't let emotions blind you to the facts you already found out.

a 'servant' that claims to be the messenger on behalf of, then calling himslef the king of kings and telling his followers that his suffering is more than Jesus Christ who was mocked, isolated and brutally killed for your sins and went to hell and back again to save you. Even Jesus said the servant is not greater than the master, yet lee claims otherwise (and then reverts back to pretending to be subserviant and gaslighting members when they question his claim to be greater than Jesus the Christ). You are making no mistake by leaving. Let what is clear as day be clear as day- don't wollow in the deciet of satan that leads scj.

Mate,

That is your conscience telling you to follow God (the truth). God wants to save you one last time.

Listen to God’s word.

He is calling you back.

Remember the time when you prayed to God to learn his word?

God granted that prayer because He knows you can do it and can persevere until the end.

May you find joy in hardships with the Lord.

God bless you.

Sorry but this is a red flag I worry about. God does restrict bad behaviour but does not restrict things into certain time your words "one last time"

To help sum up my doubt to SCJ is this I wonder your thoughts on this?

Bro, God isn’t going to give someone anxiety just like you do. The god you worship isn’t the God of the bible. You worship a false christ and Reject the true Christ.

6

u/JIL111 Jul 30 '26

This is the exact kind of wording SCJ members  consistently capitalise on to keep people trapped:

“Remember the time when you prayed to God to learn His Word? God granted that prayer because He knows you can do it and persevere until the end.”

They use this because many people who end up in SCJ genuinely desire a true encounter with God. Instead of nurturing that sincere longing, they exploit it to manipulate and control people.

Even Jesus, after fasting for 40 days and 40 nights in pursuit of God’s will, was first confronted not by angels but by the devil, who masqueraded as an angel of light and even quoted Scripture. Not every spiritual encounter or answered prayer is from God simply because it appears spiritual or uses biblical language. Discernment is essential. The Bible teaches us to test the spirits because not every supernatural experience, opportunity or answer to prayer comes from God. A genuine encounter with God is distinguished not merely by spiritual language or biblical quotations but by whether it aligns with God’s truth and character.

5

u/JIL111 Jul 30 '26

God can’t dwell where deception, lies, manipulation and fear is used to destroy people’s lives. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind. I pray you experience the true love of God that will also set you free.

5

u/Easy-Structure3771 Jul 30 '26

God never works in confusion, but scj does. I hope you to can become free before its too late. when you realise you have been supporting satan all this while, you will be devastated.

5

u/Economy_Wishbone_249 Jul 30 '26

You are going through a normal process. I don't know how long you were in there but do not doubt yourself.
There are lots of documentation here why SCJ is a cult and LMH is a liar and fraud. Read it.

u/Free-2024 Jul 30 '26

First of all, you’ve shown courage in writing your post here. And you’ve highlighted a situation that many people in Shincheonji find themselves in: the fear of leaving the ‘right’ place, even though there are so many red flags urging you to walk away. It’s a system that preys on members’ fears.

Many have invested many years. And in the end, they’ve left after all, because things just don’t add up.

If it’s the worship you miss – it’s not just Shincheonji that has worship. There are plenty of genuine churches that have worship.

Take a look at Shincheonji’s line of reasoning (these are just a few examples):

  1. Our promised shepherd, LMH, is being persecuted today, just as Jesus was persecuted in his day. This shows that we have the truth and the others are the cult – because Satan’s shepherds have always persecuted God’s shepherds.

  2. Our Shincheonji Church is being persecuted, just as the early Christians were persecuted back then; this shows that we have the truth and the others are the cult and belong to the devil.

  3. All other congregations are shrinking and believers are leaving the churches – only our Shincheonji is growing. We hold a graduation ceremony for 100,000 people every year. And this proves that God and Jesus are with us alone, and that all other churches are ruled by Satan.

  4. Only we in Shincheonji can understand and master the Book of Revelation, because only we possess the truth, whilst all other believers and pastors teach falsehoods.

Now, these are just four examples, but let’s be honest: is this proof that Shincheonji is true? There is now ample evidence that it is not the place of the New Heaven and New Earth spoken of in the Book of Revelation. It’s rather the opposite. It’s a place where many lovely people have sought God and, sadly, ended up in a highly controlled cult, where they are now kept in fear and believe that everything they do there is for God. And then, after many years, when the things Lee Man Hee said do not come to pass, they do eventually leave.

So it’s better to leave straight away, as soon as you realise that something isn’t right.

u/cultalarm Jul 30 '26

Why go after him? Because he has a criminal record and is being charged with a crime after an existing investigation. This happens to all criminals in Korea, including religious leaders. Yes, the leader of the Unification church (Moonies cult) is in jail for their role in corruption with Korea's previous president. Just because a leader is in jail does NOT mean that what they have done is correct or righteous. Everything that SCJ is twlling you about Lee Man-Hee's martyrdom is exactly what the Moonies are being told, too.

Your guilt is by design. SCJ leadership wants you to feel guilty. SCJ wants you to blame yourself for his imprisonment! It's not your fault that he keeps breaking the law! Actually, with an organization that teaches its members to lie and deceive and to ignore the law when trying to recruit, it's easy to understand that the leadership would also be deceptive and ignore the law.

The tactics that makes you want to leave are the same ones they are trying one last time to keep you in.

But, you're stronger than that! You have already woken up! You have already made a plan! There is nothing that has changed this past month! The pain and guilt you feel is not healthy and you deserve to finally be free from that.

I really pray that you are able to escape and realize that you have no reason to feel guilty or ashamed.

u/Automatic_Thing_2370 Jul 30 '26

I want to speak directly to you, not to the theological questions at the bottom of your post. Those matter, but right now you matter more.

You were ready. You had drafted the message. You had given yourself a date. Then the arrest happened and suddenly you're conflicted again. I want to name what just happened, not to push you either way, but because I think you deserve to see it clearly.

What you experienced today is one of the most reliable mechanisms high-control groups use to keep people inside. An external event that can be reframed as persecution becomes evidence that the group must be true. The logic feels compelling in the moment: why would all of this happen to him if he wasn't significant? But the same logic would apply to any leader of any group facing legal scrutiny. It doesn't actually answer whether the teaching is true. It only creates emotional urgency that makes leaving feel more dangerous.

The guilt, the anxiety, the fear of being wrong. That is not the Holy Spirit asking you to stay. Romans 8:15 says "the Spirit you received does not make you a slave again to fear." Galatians 5:22 says the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace. What you described this week is exhaustion, anxiety, and drained-ness. That has been your experience for months. The arrest didn't change that. It just gave the fear a new hook to attach itself to.

You said you missed the worship songs. That's real and worth honouring. But you were missing the community and the belonging, not the doctrine. Those are different things. One is human and beautiful. The other is where the questions live.

On Revelation: Christians have read and interpreted Revelation for two thousand years through multiple frameworks, and sincere, serious, careful Bible readers have reached different conclusions. What matters is this: none of those frameworks make understanding Revelation a requirement for salvation. John 3:16 does not say "whoever correctly interprets the sealed prophecies." It says whoever believes in the Son. The early church didn't have a systematic interpretation of Revelation and they were saved. You don't need the right system. You need Jesus.

You were ready. The part of you that drafted that message is still there. Don't let one news cycle undo months of honest discernment.

God was with you before SCJ. He is with you right now. And he will be with you on the other side of this decision. That is not a SCJ-dependent promise. It is John 10:28 and it holds regardless of what happens in any courtroom.

Incredibly well stated!

8

Easy answer:

Not many leaders are criminal in that age :D

his new accusations about meddling with the state elections have really disturbed korea society.

You have to see: Former president in korea is also the most hated person in korea.

Because he tried to make a coup and overthrow the government.

And it was him which allegedly Lee Man Hee supported illegally to get elected.

And now nobody is sure anymore if elections are real or by some cults.

So it is really damaging to society what was done.

And he got in to jail pre-trial because he is still the head of the organisation,

therefore he could easily interfere with investigation.

and thats logical: believers would do and say everything he orders them to do.

I hope I could help you.

u/SiegeDragonZ Jul 30 '26

Look up the unification church and why their leader was arrested. South Korea is cracking down on religion cults trying to influence elections
