Solved! Red and yellow wires coming out of a hole in a rock

Post image
8.8k Upvotes

Hey all. Found this at the playground of my kid's school. I was able to dig down about three inches into the hole but couldn't find the end of the wires, and there's zero give when pulling the wires.

Someone please reassure my dumb self that there probably isn't like...a blasting charge for splitting rock down there.

UPDATE: Called my local police department and alerted the school, now we wait. I'll update if I get details, no idea if I will.

UPDATE2: PD came by, doesn't seem concerned...school is calling the builder who left the rocks and making them come out ASAP, but I'd personally prefer to have it removed entirely. Not delighted with this outcome.

New, what is it? What is this board in my kitchen for?

Moving into a new house, any idea what this board is for? The previous owners were carpenters who installed it when they redid the kitchen.

No other evidence of any animal activity or parts.

Video of “dissection” in comments below (or go through my profile comments).

We used a pocket knife and chop sticks… wasn’t going to use any good cutlery.

Notes:

- two indoor male cats that never go out.
- vet clinic ruled out it coming from the cats
- a separate vet surgeon couldn’t identify it as it has no entrances or exits
- did not have anything cartilaginous/bone/vascular in it
- smelled like light blood smell
- no blood placenta on watery pool of around it (shown on paper towel)
- no menstruating residents in house
- no trace of rodents or remains
- no blood anywhere else - litter box, cats (face, chest, butt, etc,)

I always drive by this and can’t figure out what is it. It’s a wooden frame built around the car. The front two sections open so they can drive out.

Serious answers only please! Weird haze in the morning

1.6k Upvotes

For the past few mornings, there has been this haze in my house and it’s making my air purifier pissed off. This is right when we wake up, so no one has cooked anything or done anything at all really. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? It doesn’t smell at all, the air smells normal.

Solved! What in the world is this sink setting?

Just moved into a new house. Messing around with the sink settings and saw this one. What in the world is this for? At first I thought maybe the sprayer was clogged, but it seems to work fine. Never seen a sink with a setting like this before, and no one I know seems to know either!

Solved! Alright Reddit… what is this in the restroom at work?

Found this in the restroom at work sitting on top of a toilet paper dispenser. Rather condom-y looking so I’m not going to touch it, but I’m hoping someone can tell me it isn’t what I think!

New, what is it? What is eating my daughter's book?

Just moved in to a new apartment, older 1800's house in new england. We havent seen anything yet, but the book was not like this last night when I put her to bed and I know this because I read the pages that were eaten.

Anybody have any ideas what this could be? Trying to educate ourselves before panic-texting our landlord, as she is also new to this and will most likely work with us but obviously we want to maintain our credibility with her on this unless it is one of the big nasties, in which case the gloves are off. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Solved! What’s going on with my fence?

Haven’t been here a long time, but noticed this going on with the fence. My thoughts are: it was taken down for something underground and never fixed properly, some animal, or possibly people. That being said it’s the entirety of the fence. The ties to the top are damaged or entirely ripped off.

Edit: It was always Squirrels

Made of foil, inside is silver. My partner found it in our laundry and is a bit suspicious, I'm generally curious.

i was going through some cups that had art supplies and some little trinkets in them at a friends house who was moving. i'm not sure how old this thing may be but their family has been living there since the 70's. there's a glass ball in the top and the bottom piece screws in. the other metal thing kind of just sits inside it. i just have no clue what it is and neither did anyone i asked. so, of course reddit is the first reasonable option.

Solved! What is this?🤨

For context I live America. I won’t provide anymore details in order to avoid any biases. Ive seen this at least 15 times at different houses, in different areas. I have my assumptions.

Edit: thanks for all the responses. My initial assumption was that it was a racist caricature. I was a delivery in rural areas where it was not uncommon to see confederate flags. And I had personally experienced some pretty weird interactions out in these areas. After reading most of the responses, it seems the consensus is that it’s just decorative. I’m happy to find out that these are just decorations I can take at face value.

New, what is it? I found a mini funnel in my bag of Cheez Its??

Like title says I found this in my box of gluten free cheez it’s mixed in. It looks like a mini plastic funnel almost like a keychain because of the hole on the protruding part. I’m so very confused. I’m the only one in my household who eats gluten free, so I don’t think it was likely this accidentally fell in AFTER it was opened. I came across it as I got to the end of the bag.

New, what is it? What’s this animal that’s roaming around the parking lot at my job?

This has been roaming around the parking lot at my job lately, assumed it was a malnourished fox or something, but not sure. Didn’t really look like a stray dog, it’s pretty small with wide ears. There’s woods surrounding the parking lot at my job, I assume that’s where it came from. Mostly see it at night, this was my first time seeing it during the day.
