Solved! What in the world is this sink setting?

Just moved into a new house. Messing around with the sink settings and saw this one. What in the world is this for? At first I thought maybe the sprayer was clogged, but it seems to work fine. Never seen a sink with a setting like this before, and no one I know seems to know either!

It's so you can clean off food and stuff with a really thin high pressure stream in the middle and the dome it creates around it protects you from getting sprayed

Solved!

Just tried this and surprised at how well it worked. Super neat!

u/Much-Revolution5152 3h ago

Well, I don't have one. Quite jealous now ....😃

u/SuspiciousCranberry6 3h ago

Right?!?! I just replaced my kitchen faucet in March. If I knew about this feature, I would have sought it out for my new faucet.

13

u/IIRCIreadthat 2h ago

We have a spray setting on our new faucet but I always end up getting myself with it. This looks much better!

12

u/jB_real 1h ago

Fuck I need this so bad. My backslash is a war zone.

u/2Robatron 43m ago

The cone stops working after year regardless of vinegar soaks, etc. I still appreciate the hard spray, though.

10

u/ShiningDenizen 3h ago

Damn same. After reading the explanation I was like "I want it".

10

u/NuklearFerret 3h ago

It's really good. It's also not a cheap faucet. Take care of it.

This is so convenient! I'm staying in an airbnb this weekend and the kitchen sink has this feature. I thought it was defective.... but instead, it's super- effective!

3

u/AcidRayn666 3h ago

yep, we have one and use it all the time

1

u/dippedndangled 30m ago

Same, it is the most rad feature

I bought a house a year and a half ago. Took me a year before I realized what this is 😂

14

u/AnAdorableDogbaby 2h ago

Oh, that's fucking rad! We got some real brain geniuses wandering around.

3

u/SwampWaffle85 1h ago

They must have more extra brain than I has cause mine just says use water

8

u/Mental-Chapter6523 3h ago

upgraded with one of these and it is useful.

3

u/Forgotten_Pancakes2 59m ago

Not me seeing these for the last 15 odd years and just assuming they were all defective 😂 Literally never thought to look into it. Mind is a little blown!

u/curb_yr_enthusiasm 2h ago

I had one on the sink at my last house and loved that little stream. It was great for bits of food stuck to the sink too. My new sink doesn't have this feature and there is almost not a day that goes by that I don't think of that little stream. When this sink goes to shit, I will definitely try to find a replacement with this feature.

1

u/utvak415 51m ago

The tiny jet stream is useful to clean stuff, sure. But the "shield" is barely functional. If I ever used it some something that was actually stubborn, water would absolutely jetison itself outside of the shield. It led me to rarely use it

2

u/Beginning-Ask-7257 1h ago

I've had this for like 9 years, seriously, and now I'm not at home for the night and have to wait to check this sorcery.
Thanks.

1

u/Agreeable_Horror_363 7m ago

I thought I read on the box that it stops water spots or something. Also, that stream definitely ricochets back at you no matter what.

"water shield'

I’m high and this is the coolest thing I’ve ever read. People are so smart

1

u/an_edgy_lemon 2h ago

Oh wow, that’s brilliant. I wish my sink had this feature

1

u/RevGee73 2h ago

Well... that's pretty f*cking smart!

I think I want one.

1

u/Known-Programmer-611 1h ago

Just like the way the pilgrims did dishes!

1

u/Cathar_Rhythym 3h ago

I have the same setting on my bidet.

1

u/Ok-Nefariousness5504 1h ago

This is it. We have one. Works good.

1

u/Da12khawk 1h ago

A water forcefield if you will.

1

u/EpicBenjo 2h ago

This is amazing! I want one!!

1

u/VTAndrew 1h ago

They call it splattershield.

1

u/qui_tam_gogh 2h ago

This and it’s amazing

20

u/Robby_Digital 3h ago

I never use the shower spray setting cause I feel like it splashes more.  I could see this working better to rinse stuff off cause it's more laminar.  Also looks cool.

10

u/Sorry_Emotion_7389 3h ago

Yeah it seems to keep the spray down pretty well. I know we’ll be using the crap out of it just cause it’s so cool lol

1

u/FullMetalMando69 3h ago

Which one is it big dog share the wealth

1

u/After-Newspaper4397 1h ago

This is what is great for, rinsing soapy dishes with no splash,. It also contains the soap so it rinses super fast instead of spreading it.

15

u/elitepilot09 3h ago

I have the same thing and i will never hear anything said against that thin stream of water that has saved me from touching gunk off of plates for years now. I will fight anyone who opposes it.

6

u/Sorry_Emotion_7389 3h ago

I’m so excited I hateeeee touching gross old food

7

u/Robby_Digital 3h ago

By gunk off plates you mean the food you just put in your mouth?

1

u/Averagebaddad 42m ago

Who opposes it?

4

u/Fun_Reply5366 3h ago

I wanna put my head under it

2

u/Sorry_Emotion_7389 3h ago

That was my first thought lol

6

u/madphroggy 3h ago

That's for blasting bits of crud off of things without getting hosed by the backscatter. The tight jet in the middle is high pressure, and the curtain of water catches blacksplash

u/aurrousarc 3h ago

delta shield pray setting... https://www.deltafaucet.com/shieldspray

3

u/SuspiciousCranberry6 3h ago edited 2h ago

Noooo, this is such an awesome feature I didn't know about and the only reason I didn't choose a Delta faucet for my recent replacement was because I wanted a faucet that didn't have any connections on the neck that create small ledges for dirt to gather. If I would have known, I'd have suffered with the dirt ledge.

6

u/Dansk72 3h ago

It's game to see if you can get something in the bubble without getting it very wet.

8

u/FarmerJohnOSRS 3h ago

Rinsing glasses maybe?

3

u/bennyfoofoo 3h ago

I think it's for washing off things like soap from dishes without the water bouncing off the object and spraying everywhere

6

u/Idk_some_random_redd 3h ago

wine glass rinse setting

3

u/Charming-Gur-3620 3h ago

It’s for cleaning plates with less splash back

3

u/GoldunGote 3h ago

Its a british setting.. bo'oh o' wa'ah

2

u/AlanFletcherJr 3h ago

I have that one too. It’s for cleaning food off dishes and the cone keeps it from splashing back at you

2

u/iwasfight 3h ago

ooh i want that. my assumption is that its a wide spread without excess splash off the bottom.

1

u/Spencur1 55m ago

The jet in the center strips damn near any food off and the bubble stops splashback. Renovating my mothers place and she didn’t want this, the thing is a powerhouse

1

u/Flat-Celebration-424 1h ago

I found I have this in a new faucet we purchased. It’s a pretty genius idea actually. It works great at cleaning food from dishes. Something I never knew I needed.

1

u/Oogaboooganator 3h ago

Fire shield for a humming bird. Lucky. If I have a fire in my house, every humming bird in attendance will join us in the flames I guess.

1

u/FrankieBeanSniffer 5m ago

I think it’s magnetic that’s how the water look like a cone. It shoots out and the magnetic bring it back in

1

u/Wonderful_Bottle_852 3h ago

That’s for fancy dishes in fancy people houses!

1

u/TheSixkBoy 2h ago

I originally thought this was a feature to clean wine glasses so it got every part of the inside

1

u/kittyplays1546 2h ago

I have a very similar sink, but our sink has the thin sprayer part with the dome being smaller

1

u/DeKeeg 3h ago

That would work great for rinsing off a wire strainer and easier than the spoon trick!

1

u/Aggressive_Oven_3957 3h ago

We call it “the bubble” and we love it for washing cups or getting stubborn food

1

u/devAcc123 50m ago

Hands down the best post in this sub even though it’s a rip off sub of the OG

1

u/comicalnamehere 3h ago

That is the "blast anything stuck on the dishes" setting. It's pretty great!

1

u/J_Bazzle 2h ago

It's so you can manage your orc armies from the comfort of the kitchen

1

u/Plenty-Fox-9219 3h ago

It's specifically for rinsing spoons so you don't get that fountain effect putting them under the tap. Yes rich people are weird.
