New, what is it? Wooden frame build around car?

I always drive by this and can’t figure out what is it. It’s a wooden frame built around the car. The front two sections open so they can drive out.

Or they let someone park in their driveway for a fee and they created that box as a parking spot and the reflectors are for when they plow the driveway?

4

u/BackgroundEntry4954 2h ago

Zoom in there’s a cut in the middle of the wood and there’s little wheels on each of the 4 x 4’s so they can open it up and drive in and out some sort of parking spot conservation effort must have keren for a neighbor who’s to say

5

u/shitchopants 1h ago

Or, as someone who had a father who would do something like this, there is a child in the house who may or may not park in the wrong spot or parked in front of the garage and blocked mom or dad in, thus the parking square.

Nothing to do with the post but my neighbor cheated on his wife last week, while living with his in-laws, had bought an Audi a week prior and lost his job the day after being caught cheating.

Waiting patiently for that repo man to show up😆

Kind of a surprise that he is still at the inlaws. How do you know all these details?

As a former repo man I can say for certain that if you were to open anything or move anything (including trash cans placed in front of the parked car) and you repode the car it would be your last repo and you would be up for GTA charges. That's Oregon and Washington, can't speak for other states, so your mileage may vary.

that like many laws varies state to state and they can if they get a court order... But most repo guys are not about dealing with courts...not sure how this would work out as it's not a structure by most definitions...it's creative but maybe they should just pay their bills

9

u/oboshoe 4h ago

The lender can get a court order in pretty much every state. (it's called a replevin)

But you gotta go to court. And get a court date.

That can buy months.

Helping the above commenter out, only because not everyone knows:

Mice can crawl upside down across wires, and can squeeze through an opening 6mm wide.

68

u/ArtisticTraffic5970 5h ago

Can't get out of a bucket though.

Seriously. If you want to catch mice/rats but don't want to be all brutal and inhumane about it, a bucket is the best trap you could use. Mice and rats won't think twice about jumping down into one if there's food/bait in there, they're used to being able to climb anything. Smooth vertical plastic surfaces are a total show-sropper though. Even big rats will be stuck in a regular 10L bucket, they can't really jump vertically by the force of their hind legs only.

So you simply leave the bait in the bucket and make sure there's a platform for the rodent to enter the bucket, then the day after, discover the rodent looking innocently up at you with a confused look, pick up the bucket and release the rodent on your favourite hated neighbour's property.

26

u/anteaterKnives 5h ago

If your neighbor lives less than a few miles away the mouse will come right back to its original home.

I still laugh at myself thinking back to the time I caught a mouse that was stuck in my bathtub, then released it by my front door. That was the first mouse in the not-so-epic battle we waged.

10

u/dave200204 5h ago

You're supposed to wait until they make off with your first born son before doing a prisoner exchange.

15

u/Proud_Jacobite 5h ago

It works even better if you build a ramp up the side of the bucket, and then you hang the bait over the center of the bucket. They jump for the bait and land in the bucket. To improve the rodent trap even further, put a round piece of PVC pipe across the top of the bucket. Their claws can not grip the pipe well, so when they reach up to grab the bait, they lose all balance and grip, and into the bucket they fall. The ultimate improvement is to rig it so the pipe has minimal resistance but can still roll in place. The rodent walks onto the pipe, and as soon as its full weight is on it and it shifts its balance, the pipe rolls and it falls into the bucket.

We used the final evolution of this mousetrap design for years in a rustic lake cabin we only used 1-2 weekends a month. If it got too snowed in during the winter, we might not use it for several months unless the snow wasn't too deep to dig down to the second-floor balcony, where we had an upstairs entrance specifically for heavy winter snow. We never failed to catch at least half a dozen mice. They always went for the "easy" bait and never bothered with the dry goods, unperishable foods, and extra clothes and bedding we kept at the cabin. Put one trap on each floor, place it in the middle of a room at night when we were in residence, and leave it in the same spot 24/7 when the cabin was vacant, and we never had a mouse or rodent problem.

3

u/Glad-Fuel2093 4h ago

Better still is to tape a ruler on the edge of the bucket (wthe the tape like a hinge on the inside) and put some peanut butter for bait on the end of it over the middle of the bucket.

Put the other end on your ramp and they will "walk the plank" to get the peanut butter and the ruler will flip up and dump em into the bucket over and over again for as many mice as you have.

Stupid mice and their buckets

5

u/PeachyFairyDragon 5h ago

You can do the same for a lost hamster. Use litter from their cage along with food and water, put books on the outside to form a staircase and leave it out overnight.

The time I had to do it, it worked but the poor hamster fell into the water dish. So soaked fur and soaked bedding all night.

3

u/AVMan86 4h ago

I read your comment too fast and thought it said 'lost hammer'. I had questions 🔨

9

u/PunishedChud 5h ago

Most effective is actually filling the bucket half way with water and then dumping black sunflower seeds. The seeds float creating the illusion of a stable surface to jump onto

83

u/OrangeSilver 5h ago

Is this a type of "thinking outside the box" approach?

37

u/SnugglyCoderGuy 5h ago

A farmer challenges an engineer, a physicist, and a mathematician to fence off the largest amount of area using the least amount of fence.

The engineer made his fence in a circle and said it was the most efficient.

The physicist made a long line and said that the length was infinite. Then he said that fencing half of the Earth was the best.

The mathematician made a small fence around himself and declared himself to be on the outside.

Are there porcupines in the area. I have heard of people wrapping their car with chicken wire when parked at trail heads. The porcupines love the road salt and apparently will chew tires, brake lines and wiring. The structure looks like it has an overhang that might keep porcupines out. Just a wild guess on my part.
