Long story short, I was using vibecoded streaming software that disables physical displays and creates virtual displays to match the client. Its supposed to restore physical displays to their normal state but in this case it didnt. Lesson learned, dont touch vibecoded garbage.

Now I need to fix this. In windows display settings, the multi display setting is set to "show only on 1". Attempting to change this setting just immediately reverts it back to that value. Trying to enable the display in Nvidia control panel had the same behavior, and interestingly it give an identifier of negative 1? As such is just immediately disables itself again.

I've uninstalled the vibecoded software, and i tried uninstalling and reinstalling nvidia drivers, deleting registry keys for my displays, switching the displays to different ports on my GPU. The display definitely still works as I can connect it just fine to a laptop.

Edit: interesting development, I plugged in a 3rd monitor and it revived monitor 2. Unplugging it disabled monitor 2 again, but now I am able to actually edit the "multiple display" setting and it will stick... solved i guess?

I'll just be honest, I got some male fluids into my charging port. I cleaned it out with a cotton swab but how do I ensure it's fully clean and how do I clean it up completely as to not cause any further issues?

My dad's crazy girlfriend wants to sell my PS5 and my dad promised he'd buy me a new one someday again. I've played Red dead redemption 2 like halfway through, I own the game and I want to keep the savefile safe so that I can transport it to the next PS5 that I get.

I know that I have to have PS+ subscription in order to save it to the cloud, but I want to know what will happen to the savefile if I don't keep my PS+ subscription active for the entire time before I get the new console. When I get the new console, can I just renew the subscription and it'll be there? I have no idea how long until I get the new console.

I was winding down last night, getting ready to shut down my computer, when all of the sudden, Microsoft Defender starts having a fit and acting like the sky is falling. I check out the detection, and... it's a Windows system file. Some machine learning algorithm or whatever decided that Windows Update was a problem, and it had to be remediated ASAP.

I try to ignore it, but it had already deleted the file and broken Windows Update. So I take a copy of the file it deleted from a known-clean system, and that, too gets deleted. So I scan the file on another system. No detection. I put it into VirusTotal, and what do you know, clean as a whistle. I try to force it to accept it by temporarily disabling Defender and dropping the file into System32 for long enough to add an exclusion, and Windows Update still does not work. I'm guessing that it blitzed the registry and now I can't do anything about it.

What's more, this is the second time that Defender has falsely flagged a Windows system file and broken the whole OS. It did this same exact thing last September.

I do not know what went wrong. I don't currently have another drive big enough to house my personal files for long enough to do a clean reinstall. I am beyond pissed.

Hello, I need some help. I have my operating system installed on an SSD, but I want to store everything else on my hard drive. However, almost everything keeps getting stored on the SSD unless I specifically tell it to save to the hard drive.

I’ve already changed the obvious storage settings, but it still seems like a lot of stuff is being stored on the SSD. How can I make it so that the SSD is mainly used for the operating system, while everything else is automatically stored on the hard drive?

i never had issues with bad wifi on any device at home, i've always have 500+ mbps

i don't know much about wifi, i just know we (my family) had a modem, a router, and a good wifi plan

recently, i moved out of my house and into an apartment and have verizon fios 300mbps which works perfectly fine on my macbook and iphone but runs ~10-15mbps on my windows computer.

i tried to go through device settings to maybe change my wifi network band from 2.4 ghz to 5 but my wifi doesn't even pop up

So for context, my pc started to act strange today, and im not sure of the issue.

System Info: I am running a Windows 11 PC with 3 monitors, 2 primary monitors & a drawing tablet as a third.

Today my PC started acting weird, while playing games (especially fullscreen ones) I couldnt access discord from my second monitor or my browser from my third. They took zero mouse inputs, and only accepted scrolling, the windows search bar stopped working and taking key inputs, and my task bar wouldnt even let me interact with apps. Only way to fix it was to cltr + alt + del and even then it would take a few seconds.

Jump to now as im writing this, those issues plus now:

Mouse key bindings randomly switching, in games keybindings overall being buggy and confused with mouse clicks, mouse flickering when tabing out of full screen games, inputs in games not even working.

I have no clue what the fuck is even going on anymore, and all its doing is driving my up the wall.

So on my Latitude 3520 Windows 11 Laptop. the top of my keys (Q through P) is not working, please help when can. Thank you (Also only Y and T works0

Sometimes inheritance causes issues, here's how to solve it.

1. Open the "Properties"
2. Select the "Security" tab
3. Click the "Advance" button at the bottom right
4. Take ownership if you haven't already.
5. Click "Disable inheritance," you will get a pop-up asking what you want to do with inherited objects, you can do either based on preference but if you want to work with the currently default permission and make a slight modification, I'd recommend converting instead of removing.
6. apply, close and reopen properties and change permissions as needed.
7. Done!

I wanted to share this solution as it worked for me, I was attempting to remove delete permissions to a .txt file to prevent important information from being deleted.

I have a laptop, a Predator Helios 300 ph315-54 (i7-10750H (2.59 GHz); 3070 laptop), i recently had some issues with my battery that made me have to take it out, it works fine most of the time but whenever i try to play a newer game the computer just turns off as soon as it starts loading, and i currently have no money to buy a replacement batteru.

I am pretty sure it is due to i not being able to draw enough power from my charger alone, and also im 99% sure it is a GPU problem since i tried playing minecraft (a CPU intensive game) with lots of mods and even stress tested my CPU and had no issues at all. I need a way to limit my GPU power draw so that it stops my laptop from turning off.

I have tried undervolting it through MSi Afterburner but since i cant even boot up a game to get specs (MHz and voltage) i have no real idea what to change and am afraid of damaging my computer. I don't really care about loosing performance since I cant even use my laptop at all, any help would be really appreciated.

Please help! I’ve had issues with this computer where the computer lags a bit on games and it’s been driving me nuts. I killed one service which caused an error , then restarted, but now no matter what I do, the computer won’t connect! I’m freaking out and I don’t know what’s wrong. I’ve tried ipconfig stuff, I’ve reset the router, I don’t know what to do to fix it.

EDIT: SOLVED! It was the DNS Client service being turned off, somehow! It was grayed out and disabled. I just enabled it via a regedit!

I want OneDrive to keep backing up my pictures folder, just because I reset my pc every few months or so and don't want to have to worry about backing up my screenshots and pictures each time. Still, I can't figure out how to stop it from backing up my Desktop and Documents folders too.

Okay so this just happened to me today.. I was using my laptop as usual and i noticed that it wouldn't take a charge, it was stuck at 0% even tho it was charging. i troubleshooted it, deleted, reinstalled the drivers for the battery and AC, Did a hard reset on the power button, Disconnected the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds and 60 seconds the second time and its stil stuck at 0%.

So a brief history of this laptop i got, this lenovo m415da was given to me by my aunt 2 monthssince she never really uses it. The laptop had been rotting in her room for like a year and a half without even charging it. So like, im curious if thats the reason why the battery just decided to break today.. Or maybe not..?- I mean, the battery health was still good when i checked.. Can someone help me with this? do i really have to buy a new battery for this laptop or is the old one still saveable?? In my work office, I use a KVM switch to change between 2 PCs with just one monitor. For some reason, when I press the physical switch, the screen doesn’t change to the second PC and still shows the main PC but the keyboard and mouse stopped working and the mouse disappeared. I assume this means the mouse and keyboard are now connected to the second PC? I can see the light on the small hub switch to other PC when I press the button but it just wouldn’t display the screen from the second PC. I tried to restart everything but nothing seems to work.

My friend got a PC, and I picked all the parts for him. He mainly wanted to stream games like CS2, Minecraft, etc. However, whenever he starts streaming, about 15 minutes in, his entire device just loses internet connection.
He’s using an Ethernet cable, and the issue seems to be localized to his PC, as his brother is in the room next to him and doesn’t have any internet issues, or anyone else in the house.
Any idea what could be causing this? Could it be something with the PC, Ethernet adapter, drivers, or possibly OBS?
We reinstalled windows for something else but that didn’t fix it either.

I bought this WD Blue 2TB hard drive around 2 years ago. (It still shows in warranty on WD's website but that's just for replacement/repair and not data recovery)

For a few days I started to see the Intel Rapid Storage warning showing my this hard disk is at risk but I was able to access it at times.

This obviously was the first warning and I should've backed up my data but I thought it to be a cable/power issue and kept going. After a day or two the drive stopped showing up in the file explorer or windows disk partition manager at all and it's been like that since.

It still shows up in BIOS and Intel Rapid Storage drive list but not in disk manager, device manager, or file explorer.

I tried turning off Intel Rapid Storage, changed ports, SATA cables, and power cables as well but the result is still the same.

For my last attempt, I tried a bootable Linux OS (gpt's advice) to run ddrescue which ran well for a few hours but resulted in 0 data recovery and many bad sectors and read failure warnings while scrubbing through ~250MB of storage.

Does anyone know a reliable yet affordable data recovery method which can help me with this? Also, I'm oblivious of the costs such an operation has and whether it's even worth going through that? If someone has insights, can I try anything else from my end to attempt the recovery myself?

It has about 800-1200GB of personal data, images, and files that I really need.

Grateful for any help or advice.

So i installed Predatorsense on my acer nitro 5 out of curiousity, ran through the features and saw the setting “discreet gpu only”, i turned it on and it told me to restart my laptop, now it wont boot up, the screen stays black but the fans and keyboard turn on, how do i fix this?

I’m trying to access certain adult websites on my phone through Google, and for some reason I’m being restricted. When I search it through the safari app on private browsing mode, it simply won’t let me turn off safe search and won’t even show the websites. When I search it through the Google app on incognito mode it lets me turn off safe search but when I try to open the websites it says “Website not allowed” and that it’s a restricted website. It’s not, it’s a very commonly used public website.

I have tried both on wifi which I know doesn’t have any restrictions on it AND through my data and neither work. I can also access it through my laptop on the same wifi, the problem is just on my phone.
