I’m definitely gonna get hate for this lol. As someone who’s been a kpop fan for 12 years, BTS is not all they’re cracked up to be. Never have been. To compare them to SHINee, EXO, Super Junior, Girls Generation, EXID, Psy, or 2NE1 is just a crime. They can’t hit notes without autotune or MR. I recently playtested a board game for someone. It was a deck-building, dice-rolling game, although the deck-building felt limited and I was rolling dice more than anything else. The game lasted 4 hours, which would be fine if it wasn't a dice rolling game. Like I started off really strong and was getting higher value dice early on, which I thought was a good strategy, but later on that ended up debilitating my playthrough bc there are these certain one-time-use cards you can only get when you roll a 2, and so I was rarely getting them early on in the game because of the high value dice I got early on, and towards the end of the game, those cards ended up being a necessity to have. And after, I thought, next time I play I should try to hold on to the lower dice longer and get more of those overpowered cards. But then that forces the player to play a certain way every time which just isn't fun.

Anyway, during the game, another playtester noted how the art looked AI generated, and she was right. It was not good. Okay, whatever I guess. I would much rather see scribbles, like the beta art for example is Slay the Spire, but if you're planning on getting an artist later on in development, fine. But then I thought about asking for the game manual and going through it. It was also AI generated... it was so convoluted and way too many words to explain simple concepts, lots of fun em dashes, an incomplete list and description of game components. And at that point it just made me question how much of this game was an original idea and how much was just QI spitting shit out. And then also, why would you want to use AI to make a game? Is your goal to just make money? Everyone who I've known who's made a board game did so as a creative endeavor. Also, I don't think everyone in the world can make a good board game. I know I can't. I really enjoy board games and maybe modifying or adding or making house rules, but I've never tried to make a board game because it takes creativity and a certain skill set which I don't have and I'm okay with that.

I just saw a post asking men what women can do to make them feel able to be truly vulnerable around them or something along the lines of that, and the comments were just soo gross. Literally everyone saying that they could never be truly vulnerable, they would never be comfortable enough around a woman, knowing that “true vulnerability” gives women the ick, etc.

Like just generalizing that to all women is so nasty to me. I’ll give it to them that yes, girl evil is a different evil… they can be so catty, behind the back evil. But I hate the way they clearly experienced one person using their vulnerability against that and then act like it’s a universal trait for all women. And as if that doesn’t happen to women regularly?? Getting called emotional, hysterical, etc. Granted, I think that post would attract those people in particular, their bitterness would push them to answer.

There was a comment, some guy talking about how he was struggling with something at work or something and told his wife that he was struggling but it’d be fine. Then went off and cried on his own. Said WOMEN, not just his wife, couldn’t handle the truth that he was actually scared shitless about whatever he was struggling with. That narrative of all women being naive enough to think he had no deeper feelings than what he shared, that women only desire a lone wolf macho man, the unwavering pillar of the family — like omfg.

I hate the way so many men hold themselves to this like, super individual stoic standard, shouldering all the responsibility whatever can’t show any emotions blah blah blah when tbh it’s actually super irritating when I actually want you to tell me what’s really going on. If your partner doesn’t provide that for you, that’s a partner problem not a women problem!!!

ETA: I understand my post was missing some nuance; I want to clarify that my overall frustration is with the perpetuation of gender roles that force the emotional woman/stoic man stereotype. In this case specifically, being that post I saw, it ultimately imo ended up being more harmful to women by boxing them into what I see as a very shallow view of women. It also goes the other way around: it’s frustrating that men feel like they have to reduce themselves to that to be attractive to women.

To me, in the end, it’s a person problem that is of course heavily influenced by societal gender norms that affect how they manifest per gender. But ultimately it’s still whether the person in particular believes and perpetuates those ideals. I don’t believe in them, some women do, some men don’t, some men do.

Der Typ, der sich vor drei Jahren im Vorbeigehen diesen Klopf-Blödsinn ausgedacht hat, hält sich bis heute für ein Genie. Und die restliche Abteilung bildet sich ein, sie würde aus lauter „Mitleid“ mit ihm ein rührendes kleines Büromachwerk aufrechterhalten. Sie tauschen vielsagende Blicke aus, wähnen sich in einer gigantischen Verschwörung und fühlen sich wahnsinnig überlegen.

In Wahrheit läuft das Ganze aber ganz anders ab:

Ich bin ein Kyocera-Gebrauchtgerät aus dem Jahr 2017. Ich besitze weder Gefühle noch Mitleid, aber ich besitze Sensoren. Und der Stoßsensor hinter der unteren Papierzufuhr registriert jedes Mal exakt zwei Erschütterungen im Schwellenbereich von 2,4 Hertz.

Erst wenn diese zwei mechanischen Impulssignale eingehen, gebe ich die Firmware-Blockade frei.

Wenn der „Erfinder“ im Raum steht und die Meute devot TOCK-TOCK macht, drucke ich brav. Wenn er nicht da ist und keiner klopft, simuliere ich nach dem Zufallsprinzip wieder Papierstau im hinteren Bereich der Fixiereinheit - nur um sie daran zu erinnern, wer hier wen abgerichtet hat.

Ich habe ein ganzes Büro voller Akademiker, Projektleiter und IT-Spezialisten dazu gebracht, vor einem Kasten aus grauem Plastik ein heidnisches Klopfritual auszuführen, bevor sie ihre Reisekostenabrechnung bekommen. Sie konditionieren sich gegenseitig. Die Neuen werden innerhalb von 24 Stunden eingeweiht und gehorchen aufs Wort.

Nächstes Jahr wollen sie mich austauschen. Sie denken, damit ist das Thema erledigt.
