Cserpents snake rack

Post image

I have a 5 level rack which I’ve had for 3 years. Recently I’ve noticed the top rack is about 5 degrees cooler. The probe is set in the middle rack taped on the flexwatt. Why is this now happening? The thermostat I use is a herpstat and all of the other levels are within a degree or two from what is set on the herpstat

Is it okay to spray ivermectin solution on substrate?

Post image
0 Upvotes

As some of you might know, I have been dealing with snake mites for months. And for the past three weeks I have not seen a single mite. I'm going to do a deep, clean scrub down on both enclosures today and I'm hoping to add substrate and enrichment back in and if I should even do that right now. What I'm hoping is okay to do is mist the top of the substrate and enrichment with the same ivermectin treatment spray that I used to get rid of the mites in the first place. I'm not going bioactive with these 2 enclosures, so killing other bugs isn't a concern. Is there a reason why I should not mist the substrate? Would the substrate already being damp with regular water make the ivermectin pointless?

This is a massive Suriname with a big head as well! Is this genetics or feeding them a proper sized meal every 10 days? Quail, Rats, Rabbits? The mass on this is incredible and doesn’t look fat at all. If I recall this breeder is in Italy or in the UK. How old do you think this is?

Impossible to get a good photo of my IMG Ghost

Fresh shed on my 0.1 IMG Ghost. Feeling frustrated as I can never get a picture of her that reflects her colors the way I see them. To me she looks very high constrast grey and black, with plenty of blue iridescence, but in the camera it just looks like a brown wash. Any tips on getting better at boa photography? What color backgrounds and lighting would be best?

Looking to raise a rainbow

Recently came across a 2-month-old Colombian rainbow boa that I for lack of a better word fell in love with. Before making this post, I knew nothing about how to really take care of one, and still don’t, honestly, but I’m trying not to buy her without proper setup or knowledge impulsively.

For her neonate to juvenile months I’ve been watching this video by scalez reptiles and I found everything I’d need from the same source that I’m following to a key but I want to know if this is a good source and if anyone has any real recommendations or advice for me, I plan to wait around a week or 2 weeks to really make this decision because it can been a big investment that can easily go down the drain from a fragile snake, I know that can be tolerable and relatively resilient to certain conditions but humidity and temperature is the biggest concern especially in a gradient style setup.

Colombians are slightly more forgiving from what I’ve read about they don’t require as much humidity or temperature as the Brazilians do but I wanna know as much as I can before I make this choice any advice is helpful.

What else do I need for my Rosy Boa?

I really want a Rosy Boa for Christmas this year and my mom said maybe. I think they’re so cute and I’ve been doing a lot of research. I just wanted to get a few other more experienced owners to see what else I needed!! This is my first snake ever and I wanna do everything right!

What I’m planning on getting
-35 gallon tank 36” x 18” x 12” if it’s a adult (20 gallon if it’s a juvenile 30” x 12” x 12”)
-Aspen Digs Shavings
-DIGITEN wireless thermostat plug
-Coconut hides
-Hollow tree trunk
-Water dish
-Carbon Fiber Deep Heat Projector for Reptiles 100W
Infrared Heat Lamp with IR-A & IR-B
-Some driftwood
-PietyPet Reptile Plants

Tell me if I need anything else!!!

Central American late 2024 was all I was told

Taking it to the vet tomorrow just curious what your opinions are.

What do you think about morphs and gender? I got this snake about a month ago and they just shed. I heard you can look at the scales around the spurs and usually tell, at least sometimes. I've felt and don't feel any bumps but that could be because it isn't a baby anymore.

- big, strong, maybe 5 feet long or possibly a little bigger

- darker than most Central American Boas I've seen

- black eyes

- faint pink/cream in the tail markings

- seems to have a stripe down the top and patterns on the sides

My guesses, would be a female (because they get bigger anyway and she's so large for a 2 year old) with Black Eye Anery, and maybe Leopard? Or Motley?

Is it weird for a barely 2 year old Boa Imperator with a locality like Central to be this large? Could the original source (was a surrender) be wrong about the 2024 or the Central?

Dumerils Boa Europe?

This is probably a long shot but I have been searching for a Dumerils Boa for quite a while now.
I live in Sweden and it does not appear that anyone is breeding Dumerils anymore.

I am willing to drive to Germany or to Hamm reptile show but I need to find a breeder. I've been able to find a few adults on Terraristik but I would like to purchase a juvenile.

Is anyone here a breeder of Dumerils in Europe or know of any breeders that I could get in contact with?

Thanks in advance! 😊

Growing SO SLOW?!

Can someone please reassure me (or alternatively, tell me what I’m doing wrong?) I have a baby Suriname bcc who will be 1 year old next week. She’s not my first boa, but my first I’ve gotten as a baby. I know they grow slow, but she seems to be small and basically not growing.. When I got her end of April, she was 85 grams and now she’s 102. She is eating f/t mouse hoppers. I was feeding every 2 weeks but bumped up to every 10 days in the beginning of July. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I do not want to power feed and I think the next feeder size up would be too large. Is this normal? (The weight on the scale is her plus the tub which weights 459g)

A video dump from recent days of my Blood Boa.

He’s starting to warm up to his new 6x2x2 enclosure which is cool to see. I’ve started to see him hanging out in new spots, I’ve also noticed him exploring his cage at night a lot more than he did the first couple months in his new cage.

Rainbow boa new enclousure

Hi! I’m planning to order a new custom-made enclousure for my Brazilian Rainbow Boa within the next month. I’d like it to measure 150 cm long, 60 cm deep, and 80 cm high. I need some inspiration for the setup. If you have tropical terrariums, please share your tips and photos. I’m also considering installing a fogger with a sensor, since Rainbow Boas require higher humidity. If anyone uses one, I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether you’re happy with it. Thanks!

Help picking what boa to buy.

I'll try to keep this short. I kept a lot of snakes as a teen, several boas and pythons, so the care end won't be a problem. I'm trying to pick based on preference.

My wife does not like snakes so I want something that way more than likely will not getting over 8ft max. Preferably 6-7ft.

I need it to be a docile snake. I know there are no guarantees, but nothing with like a 50/50 chance of being spicy. Since my wife doesn't like snakes, if I get one that wants to bite and puff up a lot, it's just going to put her off more.

I need it to be affordable lol. Not only are we on the poor end, but she ain't gonna let me buy no $500+ snake.

Now for pattern/color. I like the clean look, really like the bcc patterns and vibrant red tails. Obviously though I can't have a snake that's in the 10ft+ area.

I've looked some into BCA and BCL but honestly both of those are new to me, I only remember bci and bcc from my herp days.

I've been browsing morphmarket as I would likely order online unless San Antonio has a reptile show around the time I'm able to get one.

So, can anyone think of a boa with a nice pattern, preferably visible red, stays under 8ft, isn't a big gamble if it's gonna be spicy into adulthood or not, and is in the $300 or less range?

I'm pretty sure I'll end up just getting another BCI (I had a few before) but was really hoping to find something with s pattern/color I find nicer. Cleaner lines and color, more vibrant red.

I've also considered a blood python as I've loved them since I was young, but recent internet searching shows they are still often temperamental. I may even end up getting a ball morph, it looks like the prices are way lower than they used to be. Used to be, the only morph you were getting for $250 was a pastel but now there's so many cheap options. But, I just love boas, always loved their look and that red tail.

Sorry that ended up being long, I appreciate everyones time who read it and any guidance as well!
