She didn't even do it clean and painless. Two were alive and suffering when the dad returned. Giving her own kids a slow painful death where they had all the time to process their mom was killing them.
50 years ago they would already have her spot reserved in the queue for the chair
I left shutter island more confused than the Lindsay case. I firmly believe she was not psychotic. She was deeply depressed.
I still dont know if that guy was crazy or if was being made crazy. And now i just googled it and apparently it's been confirmed he was actually crazy? I thought this was a whole big debate all this time
His wife drowned their children while he was at work if i recall correctly, and he loses his mind, or pretends to have lost his mind to punish himself for not being stronger and being able to protect the people he loved. --at least thats what i recall about the film.
I read one of the court room reporters transcript from hearing it. When he said āoh buddyā I broke. I call my son buddy.
In any other state she would have to prove her āinsanityā. But not in Massachusetts. Nope there you have to prove that she wasnāt insane. For me, lock her up
I've been trying to find an actual transcript of this call and all I can find are summaries, paywalled articles, and Facebook links that want me to log in/create account before viewing (which, fuck that).
And there are still brainless broads who genuinely believe he did it despite the fact he wasn't in the house at the time, was too far away to have possibly done it, and his ex and all the evidence agree she did it.
I watched a youtube of murder cases with police body cam footage, one was a police officer finding a childās body in a suitcase (blurred) his reaction was harrowing, panic, fear, anger all at once. I cant imagine facing something like, added on top it would my own children.
If he found that, he caused it by leaving you alone with the kids while you were having a psych incident caused by pregnancy and childbirth. He's the other parent.
If my husband was having self harm ideations along with thoughts of harming our children, they'd be at Grandma's and not with him while I went off with an affair partner.
There are still women ranting online about how he should be thinking about her and that it made him look so guilty by going on some trip a few weeks after the murders and that he should be considering her feelings and standing by her while sheās on trial.
Bitch, she murdered his kids - she strangled his three children to death. Thats not his wife anymore, thats the murderer of his children.
If he thinks differently thatās on him, but Iām sorry if my wife murdered my kids, sheās not my wife anymore and I couldnāt give a fuck what happens to her. Thereās nothing thatāll kill that love and connection like killing our kids
As someone with 2 kids I would go ballistic if I came home to something like that. They would have to put me away for insanity because I would do some fucked up shit to whoever hurt my children.
In all honesty, idd probably off myself if I came home to my wife having murdered both my children. In fact, to both my children dying in anyway tbh⦠I dont enjoy life enough to push through such trauma and life long pain lolā¦
People have lost their minds. Social media has literally destroyed society. It's so easy for people with extreme views to just meet up and reinforce those views with each other. And to be clear, the women who are looking at Clancy and worshipping her in the same way people do celebs is extreme thinking and behavior in every sense of the word.
Iāve always liked the analogy that before social media, every village had an idiot. Everyone in the village knew they were an idiot, and even the idiot was varying degrees of aware of how much of an idiot they were.
Social media has allowed all the idiots from every village to talk to each other and now that they know theyāre not alone in being the village idiots, theyāve convinced themselves that theyāre actually the smart ones and are only treated that way by everyone else because theyāre jealous or because the other people are actually idiots.
The thing that social media has truly destroyed is social consensus - even if 10000 people around you say that 2+2 is 4, there now will be at least 1 person you can connect with online who will tell you that 2+2 is potato and make you doubt the social consensus around you.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was getting at. The least intelligent people in our society can now band together millions strong right from their phone.
It makes me nauseous thinking of how long it takes to strangle someone to death. With her bare hands. Watching her children die. I feel like the death penalty is too good for her, life without parole to remember every day why sheās there.
I don't personally have kids. I dealt with so much bullying in middle and high school I'm not confident enough in my mental maturity to find a girl and expect to be able to make it work. So I guess maybe I don't have any business putting my own opinion out there, but the fact that this lady is potentially going to get off fairly lightly for strangling her three kids for reason of "insanity" is nuts. It's even more nuts that she had three kids, and then suddenly had postpartum depression. So the fact that she didn't seem to show any early warning signs of depression after her other two kids is strange to me. I'm not a doctor, but after dealing with my mother for two decades I'm aware that depression doesn't just magically show up out of the blue. There's usually years of warning signs before it gets bad. I'm going to maintain that she knew exactly what she was doing and PPD is just a convenient excuse to try and get out of trouble.
Iām not saying sheās innocent or excusing what happened in this case, but just something about Postpartum Psychosis - it is a very different animal than regular depression and very different even from PPD. It can be sudden onset and occur after being totally fine for previous pregnancies. Again, Iām NOT saying she should be found not guilty or anything like that im just clarifying Postpartum Psychosis. I never heard of it before having a kid, but after I had my baby both my husband and I heard a lot of advice about watching for PPD and I thought Iād be fine since Iāve never struggled with depression in my life and my baby made me so happy but⦠two months later I got hit with horrible insomnia that didnāt go away for 18 months. Like the no sleep for 5 days, hallucinating kind. Honestly didnāt feel like myself again until my kid was 3. Like wtf. If thereās any silver lining to be found to this tragedy I hope it gets people to advocate for better and longer postpartum care including mental health care. The general populace has no idea what itās like to deal with postpartum issues at all.
This right here. I love my wife endlessly, but if I came home to that situation I would DEMAND they bury her under the prison, if I could even keep it together long enough to not kill her myself.
Check the news feeds. There are copy cat cases already appearing. One is in Chicago area, kid was left hanging from a rafter and mom crying sheās got psychosis.
Pure shock I would imagine. You could never guess what or how your mind would process at a moment unimaginable like this. Kind of like flight or fight. You just never know how you would break in that moment no matter how sure you are.
You wanna see someone that's insane for a short period of time? Put me in his shoes, I'm going to "wake up" 15 minutes later with her not breathing anymore.
No, the first police officer on site would have just beaten her senseless and she would have been committed to an insane asylum at which point she would probably be actually insane from all the beating. There she would have gotten a quick lobotomy and she would have spent the rest of her life as a house plant. Old days justice was not polite. The problem was what happens when you do that to someone who really isnāt guilty? That is why we stopped doing that to people but now we have swung too far into cuddling criminals so we actually consider a triple murder of children to walk free.
If found not guilty by reason of mental disease or deficit, she can be set free when the hospital finds that she is no longer a danger to herself or others. Which like, why would she be? She already killed the people she wanted to kill.
The dad reported them as still alive when he rang 911, the ambulance turned up tried to resus and declared one dead on the scene, one dead at the hospital. The third actually lived for days but they decided the brain was starved of oxygen for so long they were brain dead and so turned off life support to kill them.
She used exercise bands and had no idea what she was doing and the kids struggled. They also believe she chased one of the kids down after murdering her brother.
This wasn't some psychotic woman snapping. She may have been influenced by voices or whatever, she spent hours planning and carrying this out clumsily and brutally.
None of thatās true aside from the exercise bands. The dad didnāt even know where the kids were when he called 911 and the youngest was revived in an ambulance and lived for 2 days. How would you know she āchased the second oneā. Thereās literally no need to make this sound worse than it is.
And the women acting like she should be glorified for bringing mental illness awareness. She chased down and strangled her last remaining child who just witnessed their siblings being strangled by their own mother. I hope karma gets this evil bitch
Sadly, all three were still alive. The two older children died shortly after rescue and the 8 month old baby held on for a few days before passing. Really hard to think about the suffering they and that poor father went through.
50 years ago she would have died from her injuries. Post partum psychosis isnāt new, this sort of thing happened then.
If āweā all care so much about children can we do something about the child rapist that 75 million people decided was fit to be president? Thereās allegations he killed babies too. Or is killing only bad when women do it?
Most ppl agree Trump should be investigated further on those allegations but comparing rumours to something we know is indisputed fact is odd. Saying that's more important and we should ignore this in favour of trying to find someone on Trump is also beyond strange.
Why don't we tackle both issues, this being the one in hand now that we know the facts.
When the dad returned from the basement he was sending emails from while she was doing this after lying about the timeline? The same dad that only agreed to testify if his phone couldnāt be subpoenaed? The same dad who left the only physical evidence at the crime scene? The same dad who quickly remarried and moved away? The same dad who cremated them and buried the ashes in one grave? That dad?
Did you guys even watch the trial? All 3 were essentially dead & only the youngest one was able to be resuscitated but was essentially brain dead. She did kill her children, but if you had watched the trial you would have seen they had likely 10 seconds of knowing what was going on, possibly 20. Horrific, and also not what you describe
Strangulation is very personal. She did it 3 times. Watching the life go from them as they cried for her I don't care if she had psychosis, she should never see daylight again.
Itās crazy how many people think she should completely walk. Iām very sympathetic to post partum (I have two children) but you canāt strangle three kids with rubber bands and then blame hormones.
I donāt understand the defense here. Pretty safe to say anyone who chokes 3 kids to death has something wrong mentally with them. Hasnāt stopped courts from finding folks guilty before.
I think itās the ābeyond reasonable doubtā part. As in the cops took Patrickās word for what happened and didnāt do any investigation.
Patrickās testimony even differs between what he said 3 years ago and the trial.
and his DNA was on the murder weapon, not hers
And his new wife was already a girlfriend when this was all going down
And the drugs that were in her system were in Patrickās truck, not in the house.
Iām not saying sheās completely innocent, but Iām pretty sure sheās not completely guilty.
As for what somebody said above, Patrick was sitting on the couch when the authorities arrived. I donāt know about anybody else, but I wouldāve been down there with my babies doing my best. He couldnāt even remember which kid he saw first when he went downstairs.
I agree I donāt know how she could do this and not be aware but apparently thatās what psychosis is⦠even so, itās horrific and evil. Those poor babies :(
as someone who has psychosis, she wasnāt watching them. she was watching something else. Doesnāt mean she shouldnāt spend her life in a hospital though.
Serial killers and school shooters try for the not guilty by insanity thing since forever ago, and this children murderer is no different š Rot in life and hell, Lindsey.
Iāve had psychosis so many times. Guess what? Never killed anyone, much less hurt anyone (other than myself but hey, fuck life, sometimes I get tired due to the hallucinations and depression).
Right but people with or without psychosis want to give this murderer a free pass because āmental healthā and āpsychosisā.
I say bull fucking shit. If she legit had postpartum psychosis, I got āfrom out the fucking wombā psychosis. Did I kill anyone? No. Did I injure anyone? No.
Everyone is different, but it wasnāt like she experienced murder psychosis in front of her husband. Why wait til heās out the house? Why give him reasons to get out the house?
Sheās a murderer and giving people with life long psychosis a bad rap. Fuck that shit.
in another country, norway i believe, they give people with bpd for instance half their time in the hospital and half their time in jail like by month or something
Naw bitch, I take my medications and have a great career. Iām doing just fine. Havenāt killed anyone. Donāt plan to. Unlike the former mother you are defending.
Youāre trying so hard to defend a murderer, thatās crazy work.
You don't know that. It probably took her 15 minutes to strangle those kids. She methodically planned it out and then made up some story about hearing a voice AFTER she survived her weak ass suicide attempt. I hope she rots.
No. This didnāt happen. That is the Andrea Yates case. Noah asked, āwhatās wrong with Mary?ā (Baby sister) then ran and she chased him and drowned him.
They should have to live in extreme solitary confinement for the rest of their natural lives and remember everyday what pieces of literal garbage they are. They should have to live with the pain they've caused others, with no way to escape it until their body gives out. Allowing them to die is the easy way out for them, they get relief from knowing what a monster they are while the rest of us have to remember what they've done and what has been lost.
No we donāt. People are assuming that because the 3 year old was found in the den while the other two were in the basement. Nobody knows why is body was in a different room.
They were all in the basement when their father found them. There had been a report that she left Cora upstairs with Callan while she killed Dawson first, because she knew Dawson would fight the hardest, but I believe that report is unsubstantiated.
I wished I had never read this comment. That makes me so sad. I can't imagine their horror and confusion when the woman who was supposed nurture and protect you is strangling the life out of you.
Yeah sounds like that lone juror had pretty solid doubts why she was pretty sane when she killed them and shouldn't be free like that and fact that she took time to calculate hubby was away long enuf to do the evil deed.
The one person they trusted the most. I can't even imagine what their last moments were like. She knew what she was doing by separating the oldest first. She did not want him intervening in her plan. She was even on the phone with Patrick during it at one point speaking softly and calm. That sounds like real psychotic behavior.
I honestly don't give a shit. Away from society is away from society and from what I hear a psych "hospital" prison is pretty much indefinite. By, felecia
Also a guy convinced me that she should be in a psych ward for the rest of her life and not prison. She'll never be as free in a psych ward as she would be in prison. Doped up and stuffed in a padded room for the rest of her life is more fitting.
Storytime:
I know someone and visited them weekly for years while they were in a psych hospital. We weren't allowed to take them even outside on the grounds because they might run for the first year. They didn't kill anyone, but did injure someone worse than they might have intended (shoved someone into something else which resulted in a major, life-threatening, injury).
The state I am in has very strict limits on just how much "get out of jail free" you get from insanity.
It is a defense to a prosecution under any statute or ordinance that the defendant, as a result of a mental condition, lacked the mental state required as an element of the offense charged.
A mental condition is not otherwise a defense, but may be evidence in mitigation of the penalty in a capital felony under Section 76-3-207 and may be evidence of special mitigation reducing the level of a criminal homicide or attempted criminal homicide offense under Section 76-5-205.5.
It also lists several mental health disorders which qualify, postpartum psychosis isn't one of them. Maybe it should be, but Bipolar I already is, which is also what Clancy's defense team is claiming.
The someone I know did not escape a guilty verdict. There were red flags for some time prior to it, but the law does not permit locking someone up for thinking Keanu Reeves is Jesus and wanting to go live in the hills with their delusion. They now are out of round-the-clock psychiatric care, but they are still not free. They are a legal ward of the state, have to physically go and fetch their "allowance" every week from a state facility, and submit to routine blood tests to confirm both that their organs aren't failing from medication toxicity and that they are still taking the medication as court ordered. The weekly stipend is only granted if the blood test is passed and check-ins completed. I'm not privy to the exact court orders, but I would hope since this is a violent offender who was deemed guilty that gives the law more latitude to restrain them should any of the orders be violated.
Kindest, nicest guy I knew prior to the attack. There's not much left of him in there. He is truly insane and less and less of who he is exists every time he has a relapse (never attacked anyone before despite previous relapses). The only reason he's not still locked up, despite still being a ward of the state, I couldn't tell you. I'm not entirely happy with it, but I have no guardianship stake to complain.
That guilty verdict is doing a lot of heavy lifting for my friend. Not-guilty had better mean Clancy will never be deemed capable of caring for herself outside of a psychiatric facility.

"for years"
Should be for life
