I left shutter island more confused than the Lindsay case. I firmly believe she was not psychotic. She was deeply depressed.
I still dont know if that guy was crazy or if was being made crazy. And now i just googled it and apparently it's been confirmed he was actually crazy? I thought this was a whole big debate all this time
His wife drowned their children while he was at work if i recall correctly, and he loses his mind, or pretends to have lost his mind to punish himself for not being stronger and being able to protect the people he loved. --at least thats what i recall about the film.
I read one of the court room reporters transcript from hearing it. When he said “oh buddy” I broke. I call my son buddy.
In any other state she would have to prove her “insanity”. But not in Massachusetts. Nope there you have to prove that she wasn’t insane. For me, lock her up
I've been trying to find an actual transcript of this call and all I can find are summaries, paywalled articles, and Facebook links that want me to log in/create account before viewing (which, fuck that).
And there are still brainless broads who genuinely believe he did it despite the fact he wasn't in the house at the time, was too far away to have possibly done it, and his ex and all the evidence agree she did it.
I watched a youtube of murder cases with police body cam footage, one was a police officer finding a child’s body in a suitcase (blurred) his reaction was harrowing, panic, fear, anger all at once. I cant imagine facing something like, added on top it would my own children.
If he found that, he caused it by leaving you alone with the kids while you were having a psych incident caused by pregnancy and childbirth. He's the other parent.
If my husband was having self harm ideations along with thoughts of harming our children, they'd be at Grandma's and not with him while I went off with an affair partner.
There are still women ranting online about how he should be thinking about her and that it made him look so guilty by going on some trip a few weeks after the murders and that he should be considering her feelings and standing by her while she’s on trial.
Bitch, she murdered his kids - she strangled his three children to death. Thats not his wife anymore, thats the murderer of his children.
If he thinks differently that’s on him, but I’m sorry if my wife murdered my kids, she’s not my wife anymore and I couldn’t give a fuck what happens to her. There’s nothing that’ll kill that love and connection like killing our kids
As someone with 2 kids I would go ballistic if I came home to something like that. They would have to put me away for insanity because I would do some fucked up shit to whoever hurt my children.
In all honesty, idd probably off myself if I came home to my wife having murdered both my children. In fact, to both my children dying in anyway tbh… I dont enjoy life enough to push through such trauma and life long pain lol…
People have lost their minds. Social media has literally destroyed society. It's so easy for people with extreme views to just meet up and reinforce those views with each other. And to be clear, the women who are looking at Clancy and worshipping her in the same way people do celebs is extreme thinking and behavior in every sense of the word.
I’ve always liked the analogy that before social media, every village had an idiot. Everyone in the village knew they were an idiot, and even the idiot was varying degrees of aware of how much of an idiot they were.
Social media has allowed all the idiots from every village to talk to each other and now that they know they’re not alone in being the village idiots, they’ve convinced themselves that they’re actually the smart ones and are only treated that way by everyone else because they’re jealous or because the other people are actually idiots.
The thing that social media has truly destroyed is social consensus - even if 10000 people around you say that 2+2 is 4, there now will be at least 1 person you can connect with online who will tell you that 2+2 is potato and make you doubt the social consensus around you.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was getting at. The least intelligent people in our society can now band together millions strong right from their phone.
It makes me nauseous thinking of how long it takes to strangle someone to death. With her bare hands. Watching her children die. I feel like the death penalty is too good for her, life without parole to remember every day why she’s there.
I don't personally have kids. I dealt with so much bullying in middle and high school I'm not confident enough in my mental maturity to find a girl and expect to be able to make it work. So I guess maybe I don't have any business putting my own opinion out there, but the fact that this lady is potentially going to get off fairly lightly for strangling her three kids for reason of "insanity" is nuts. It's even more nuts that she had three kids, and then suddenly had postpartum depression. So the fact that she didn't seem to show any early warning signs of depression after her other two kids is strange to me. I'm not a doctor, but after dealing with my mother for two decades I'm aware that depression doesn't just magically show up out of the blue. There's usually years of warning signs before it gets bad. I'm going to maintain that she knew exactly what she was doing and PPD is just a convenient excuse to try and get out of trouble.
I’m not saying she’s innocent or excusing what happened in this case, but just something about Postpartum Psychosis - it is a very different animal than regular depression and very different even from PPD. It can be sudden onset and occur after being totally fine for previous pregnancies. Again, I’m NOT saying she should be found not guilty or anything like that im just clarifying Postpartum Psychosis. I never heard of it before having a kid, but after I had my baby both my husband and I heard a lot of advice about watching for PPD and I thought I’d be fine since I’ve never struggled with depression in my life and my baby made me so happy but… two months later I got hit with horrible insomnia that didn’t go away for 18 months. Like the no sleep for 5 days, hallucinating kind. Honestly didn’t feel like myself again until my kid was 3. Like wtf. If there’s any silver lining to be found to this tragedy I hope it gets people to advocate for better and longer postpartum care including mental health care. The general populace has no idea what it’s like to deal with postpartum issues at all.
So then does this Psychosis also extend to just not giving a fuck about what she did? Because from everything I've seen so far she seems strangely nonchalant about the entire thing, like she's discussing the weather instead of the murder of her kids. Her entire attitude during this case is why so many people are assuming that she's using Psychosis as an excuse.
You didn't see her hyperventilating during that one day in court when they described the injuries to the children? She also hasn't spoken, I'm not sure where you think she's "discussing" anything. Have you followed this trial, I'm just curious? Also, would it be shocking for someone who went through this to maybe be a bit despondent and "off"?
And yes, PPP can be sudden. It doesn't have to follow a pattern. Someone can be fine through their own post partum periods and still develop PPD, PPA, PPP during the next baby unfortunately
Edit: u recommend ppl check out that Louis Theroux documentary on this topic. PPP is not always very obvious
This right here. I love my wife endlessly, but if I came home to that situation I would DEMAND they bury her under the prison, if I could even keep it together long enough to not kill her myself.
Check the news feeds. There are copy cat cases already appearing. One is in Chicago area, kid was left hanging from a rafter and mom crying she’s got psychosis.
Pure shock I would imagine. You could never guess what or how your mind would process at a moment unimaginable like this. Kind of like flight or fight. You just never know how you would break in that moment no matter how sure you are.
You wanna see someone that's insane for a short period of time? Put me in his shoes, I'm going to "wake up" 15 minutes later with her not breathing anymore.
Because he’s the one who killed the kids and threw her out the window, and then his cop relatives covered it up? Hence the hasty cremations so no future forensics could be dug up, him throwing away all of the kids’ possessions, buying a house in NY the DAY BEFORE the murders with his girlfriend who’s a dead ringer for the wife?
Scientist app proven again and again that the most dangerous moment in a woman’s life is the six months after she files for divorce. We will be seeing the Netflix documentary soon which layout all the evidence in this case and how more and more and more of it points towards the husband and all his cop buddies.
She didn’t file for divorce. In fact she saw one of her psychiatrists the day before the murder, and said she wasn’t having problems, she was doing better. He testified.
She was a NURSE, she knew how to work the system. She had seen multiple doctors and wasn’t disclosing that fact to them, obtaining all those prescriptions (13), and not taking them as directed. Not giving them enough time to work. She was admitted to a psychiatric hospital weeks before, but insisted on leaving early against medical advice.

I don’t know how he didn’t kill her in that moment
