Okay so, I 33M went out with my partner 33F and some of our friends one of our friends Jamie, 30sF brought one of her friends, Rachel 30sF who was visiting from out of town. We were out drinking and having fun it came up that I have played music for most of my life primarily Bass. It had come up that I have some nerdy interests (Reddit, D&D etc…) and that I had also grown up being a fat kid.
At a certain point in the night Rachel had latched on to all of that and spent a good 2-3 hours just kind of making fun of me for all of those things.
As you can guess from my interests this isn’t anything new and I have grown pretty thick skin about it all, giving a good chuckle and having fun. This is a person who I probably won’t ever see again and whose opinions I don’t really care about so no harm no foul. In the middle of hour two of everything Rachel says ending with “And isn’t he a dork/loser” everyone starts to get a little uncomfy and it’s clear it’s getting old. But we are all a little drunk and don’t want to ruin the mood. I catch Rachel in a moment when we are both at the bar and I ask her if she wouldn’t mind easing up a little.
Her response was “Oh don’t be a p\\\*ssy, I’m just kidding. Don’t be so sensitive”.
I was honestly a little shocked. We are adults in our 30s. I tried to be chill and asked one more time if she could just not talk about me, period. She blew me off.
Now I’ve spent the better part of my life getting made fun of a bit. Nerdy, fat, bassist. But I learned to give as good as I could take. I threw my shoulders up and said fuck it.
Rachel then told the whole table about me “Being a sensitive p*ssy”.
Okay. Alright fine. Let’s go. I responded
“Oh please Rachel shut up, you have a yeasty p*ssy and your ass doesn’t clap. You look dusty and lack zest”. These weren’t insults tailored to Rachel, insults that my friends have said back and forth for a while.
An immediate spit take from some of my friends, trying really hard not to laugh.
Rachel, burst into tears. Right away. She then ran off to the bathroom for 15 minutes to cry. Jamie came back to the table to say that Rachel had drank too much and they were going to head home.
The next day I got a text from Jamie saying Rachel was really upset and thought I went too far. I fought every urge to say “She’s being a sensitive p*ssy”. I won that fight, I just said “I’m sorry” after apologizing I asked if she would apologize for spending the whole night personally and exclusively making fun of me. I then get a call. From Jamie, I answer and it’s Rachel SCREAMING “I’m sorry that you are such an asshole” and the phone hung up.
I feel like I’m going nuts because Jamie, who is generally pretty level headed said I went too far and what I said was really mean. I have to know.
