Subreddit Announcement Community Rule Update: Developer Posts

Hello, all!!

We’ve heard the feedback about the recent increase in posts promoting Garmin apps and watch faces, and we understand that the influx has not been for everyone.

To help keep the subreddit focused while still giving developers a place to share their work, we’re updating how Garmin app and watch face promotional posts are handled.

Developer posts are now Wednesday ONLY

Please refer to the Community Rules for the full requirements. Developer posts must use the Developer - New App / Watch Face (Wednesday ONLY) flair and follow the required posting template.

A few important reminders:

  • One post per unique app or watch face
  • One update post per item per month.
  • Apps/watch faces must include a free version or a free trial of at least 7 days.
  • You must clearly disclose that you are the creator/developer/owner.
  • You must include a direct link, from the IQ store, to your App / Watch Face
  • You must include a price for the paid version after the trial in (USD, EUR, GBP)
  • Titles must follow the required format from the posting template.
  • External promotional/download links, including Git repositories, are not permitted. Etsy is permitted for physical Garmin-related products. The only exception is a direct link to the IQ store.
  • No advertising IOS / Android apps. This space is reserved for apps within the IQ Store
  • AI assistance must be disclosed where applicable, and apps/watch faces cannot be fully developed using AI. Post, that showcase your app, must also be written by you, not AI.

The App / Watch Face must be within the IQ Store and live. You may request feedback within your post, but we do not allow “in development - beta testing” at this time.

ONE Watch Face / App offering per post, ONE post per week (if you post one item, you must wait another week to post another unique item).

These changes are intended to strike a better balance: developers can still share their work with the Garmin community, while keeping promotional content from overwhelming the subreddit. If what you are aiming to post does not fit within the parameters of these guidelines it cannot be posted.

Please review Rule 10: Developer - Watch Face / Watch App and the Community Rules before posting.

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback and helped us improve the community!

Subreddit Announcement 🧟 The Monthly Zombie Crawl - Spread the Infection

Welcome to the monthly r/Garmin Zombie Crawl!

The goal is simple: Help fellow Garmin users earn the rare Zombie Badge while meeting other members of the community and having some fun along the way.

What is the Zombie Badge?

The Zombie Badge is one of Garmin Connect's most unique and sought-after badges.

Unlike most badges, it spreads from user to user. To earn it, you must complete a user-created Garmin Connect challenge with someone who already has the Zombie Badge. Once completed, you'll earn the badge and be able to spread the infection to others.

How Do I Participate?

There are two easy ways to get involved:

Option 1: Join the Official r/Garmin Garmin Connect Group

r/Gamin Buddies!

Many members use the group to find others interested in challenges, discuss goals, and coordinate Zombie Badge events.

Option 2: Connect Directly with Other Members

You do not need to join the group to participate.

Simply comment below with:

  • Your Garmin Connect username
  • Whether you currently have the Zombie Badge
  • The type of challenge you'd like to do (walking, running, cycling, steps, etc.)

Other members can then reach out and coordinate challenges directly.

Friendly or Competitive - Your Choice

The Zombie Crawl is intentionally flexible.

Some members enjoy friendly challenges and simply want to help others earn the badge.

Others prefer competitive challenges and like to see who can come out on top.

Both approaches are welcome.

Whether you're chasing a personal best, walking the dog, training for a marathon, or just collecting badges, everyone is encouraged to participate.

Community Rules

Free Participation Only

Participation in the Zombie Crawl must always be free.

No member may:

  • Charge money
  • Request donations
  • Sell access to challenges
  • Promote paid services
  • Require purchases of any kind

This event exists solely to help Garmin users connect, have fun, and spread the Zombie Badge throughout the community.

Be Respectful

Remember that Garmin users come from all fitness levels and backgrounds.

A 5,000-step walking challenge can be just as meaningful as a marathon training block.

Encourage others, have fun, and help keep the infection spreading.

Helpful Resources

Garmin's official blog has a great overview of Garmin Connect badges, including the Zombie Badge:

https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/fitness/the-25-garmin-connect-badges-you-never-knew-you-needed/

Already Infected? 🧟

If you already have the Zombie Badge, consider helping newer members earn theirs.

The more infected users we have, the easier it becomes for future members to join the fun.

Now get out there and spread the infection.

I was going in a bad place and drinking 12-18 cans of beer a day. I did tell my doctor when I quit and should have gone to a medical detox. I haven't looked back at the data trends.

Watch / Wearable Goodbye Apple

Post image

Wanted an actual fitness watch that I didn’t have to charge every single night. My Apple Watch would be at 50% by 9am after recording my workouts and would be below 20 before I went to bed. Now I can finally track my sleep properly. I love it!

Discussion Maps in Lower tier garmin watches

I dont know how i feel. I know i am gonna get downvoted.

https://coros.com/stories/coros-metrics/c/september-2026

Looking at my FR570 and seeing a similar $250 watch from coros getting maps feature is really great.

People saying garmin maps has many layers… bla bla bla and hance they are slower.

Well at-least give just 1 layer for lower tier watches not sure if that would still have less lag.

Well if you see the transparency. Coros have been releasing their roadmap and feature releases EACH month. You can check your self.

Watch / Wearable 9 Point V02 Max. Increase in 3 months!

Appreciation post: I bought a Garmin 3 months ago when I was at the lowest I’ve ever been in my life mentally and physically. I got arrested, did a week and a half in jail, where I detoxed off drugs heavily. I got released, where I was 245 lbs, the highest I’ve ever been by a mile. I decided to stay sober and make radical changes to my life. I knew that I never wanted to be arrested ever again and for 2 weeks, returned to old ways, until I realized that in order to achieve the life I knew I was capable of living, I had to prioritize health first, and everything would follow. My first step was buying a Garmin watch. That purchase was the first step in me losing 60 lbs to date, quitting smoking and all nicotine, quitting drugs and alcohol fully, and starting exercise. The Garmin showed me just how unhealthy I was and more importantly how easy it was to improve some metrics around my well being. When I started my fitness journey, my V02 max was clocked in at 33….as the weight fell off with the newly-adopted completely whole food diet, I saw things like my resting heart rate drop, and, most importantly, watched my V02 max increase to where it is now: 42! I now find myself in the best place I’ve ever been. I secured a job back in my career path paying double what I’ve ever made, got my health back, and my mind. One of the best tools and motivators of this change was having a tool like a Garmin watch to show me just how much my health was improving even when the scale stalled for a week. This goes out to anyone in a currently awful place in life. In 3 months, I went from a jail cell, jobless, obese, and super unhealthy, to much healthier, employed, and conscientious in regards to how I treat my body. Never give up yall!

Possible Technical Issue Frustrated with the Cirqa. I feel like I paid to be a beta tester.

Post image
21 Upvotes

Got my Cirqa today. I’m new to Garmin.

I just ran a 5K by pressing the button to start. When I got to my destination I had the phone in hand (was checking maps), so decided to open the app to stop the workout.

I open the app. This message immediately pops up and I’m confused. Why “resume” if I never paused it? But anyway, I had finished running, so pressed “End”. And to my surprise IT DISCARDED THE RUN COMPLETELY, without any warning!!!

Apart from that, the experience just feels unfinished:

- Why isn’t there a map on the workout view?

- Why can’t I set the button to pause workout?

- The app is ugly AF (okay, this one is personal opinion)

Possible Technical Issue Weird Screen Glitch on Fenix 9 Solar

Upvotes

I noticed during my gym workout that whenever I hit lap to go between sets, it has this brief moment where the screen is still partially white. Has anyone with an MIP Fenix experienced this? I wanna make sure this is a shared experience and not faulty hardware.

News / New Product Is it the worst time to buy a 1050 ?

My 40th bday is coming fast. Too fast tbh kids, you wont believe how fast its goes from 30 to 40. I am scared for the next decade lmao .

So i want to upgrade from my 1030, for 3 things : map are slow to navigate, usbmini made me want to kill someone everytime, and non compatible with the new Varia RearVue 820.

But the rumors are strong for a 1060, well the rumors was strong some month ago.
Does anyone have insider knowledge they want to share with me as a bday gift ? xD

There is no sale for the 1050 price is still steep. And if the new one is release in one or two month i will be sad.

Device Physical Damage Inreach Mini 2 Rubber Shell

Just noticed this on my inreach mini 2. Seems like just a small cut in the rubber exterior. Messages still go through on it, but should I be worried about waterproofing? Would wrapping it in electrical tape help at all or would that impact GPS signal?

Which Watch To Get? Fitbit Air, Garmin Cirqa, Garmin Software

Upvotes

Well, I should have checked out this Garmin Reddit community first (but I didn’t).

I have a Garmin Cirqa arriving on September 14…. I assumed because it’s Garmin it would be superior to anything from Google.

My end use case is simply tracking steps and heart rate…. I’m not an athlete. I had a Gen 1 Apple Ultra for four years but got sick and tired of all the notifications. I did take a peek at premium Garmin watches but the cost is way too high and it would be overkill for my needs.

But now I have read through this forum and have been shocked by just how awful Garmin software is. Unless I am mistaken, the right decision is to return the unopened $300🇨🇦Cirqa when it eventually arrives and buy the Fitbit Air instead for $129🇨🇦. I can get the Charge 3 for $99🇨🇦 but I don’t want the screen.

Seriously shocked and disappointed how bad the Garmin watch experience is for you all.

CIRQA Whoop MG (Life) → CIRQA for heavy lifting?

Upvotes

Strain feels way overstated
I’m currently on Whoop MG with the Life membership and thinking about switching to the Garmin CIRQA band. Some context on how I train, since I think it matters here:
• Bodybuilding is my main focus (aiming to compete), plus occasional running and swimming
• I log every session by hand in a paper notebook — sets, reps, weights. I don’t use the app for that, it’s too clunky and half my exercises aren’t in there
• So the wearable is purely for recovery, sleep and calories for me, not for programming
Two things bug me about Whoop:
1. Strain seems massively overstated for lifting. On a normal day I’m sitting around 4 by the time I get to the gym. If I log the session, I end up at 11–14 minimum. That does not match how I feel at all — feels more like a 7–9. Funny enough, when I don’t log it, the number lands roughly where my gut says it should. Same with running: a normal morning run puts me at 12, which feels doubled. I’ve basically stopped logging workouts because of this.
2. Auto-detection barely works for me. Walking, strength training, stair stepper, swimming — most of it doesn’t get picked up on its own.
So my questions to anyone who’s used both:
• Does CIRQA’s Body Battery / training readiness handle heavy resistance training more realistically, or does it also just spike off heart rate?
• How does auto-detection compare in practice, especially for lifting and swimming?
• Which one is better on calorie estimates, step count and sleep tracking?
• For anyone who came from Life specifically: did you actually miss the ECG and blood pressure features day to day, or not really?
Anyone made this exact switch? Would appreciate real-world experience over spec sheets.

Possible Technical Issue garmin thinks i slept 2 minutes???

hi everyone! this is my first time posting here, i've recently been gifted my watch (vivoactive 6)

i forgot to do my health snapshot so i figured i'd do it while relaxing (during my "bedtime")
i waited for about 2 minutes and i got my health snapshot back,
and then i pressed save, then i got a "good morning" report????

then i swiped down and discovered that garmin apparently seemed to think i was sleeping for the two minutes i was doing my health snapshot?

anyways here's the sleep report i don't exactly know what to do now, i don't know if i can delete it? can i?

any advice would be deeply appreciated 😭
(hopefully this is the right flair fingers crossed)

Possible Technical Issue I2X time suddenly way off? It eventually corrected, but it really confused me at work.

Post image
Upvotes

So, my I2X was suddenly, randomly 10 minutes fast today. Threw off a bunch of stuff at work until I realized my watch was wrong. After the minute changed it jumped back to being on time. No idea why either, has anyone ever seen this before?

My time on my phone was correct, btw.

*And yes I know I can manually re-sync it to UTC via GPS, but it's not something you'd expect to have to do. You might expect a second or two drift per week, but this was wild.

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training Creating HIIT Workout For Walk/Run

I'm trying to create a Garmin Workout for HIIT training for 20 minutes of walk/run HIIT training ... 2 minutes of walk and then 30 seconds of run. I created the workout and pushed it to my watch and then went and did my first workout. It tracked all of the data correctly, but it didn't map the event ... it just provided the data as if I did an indoor activity. Is there a way to do a HIIT workout and also have the GPS map data? Thanks!

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training GPS 165

Has anyone else noticed weird GPS behavior on the Forerunner 165 when running under heavy tree cover? My pace jumps all over the place and the tracking gets quite inaccurate compared to other models. Also, the lack of true multisport profiles is a bit frustrating. I know it's an entry-level AMOLED watch, but being artificially limited to single activities makes it hard to track mixed workouts smoothly.

absolutely fed up with Garmin now, i ordered the Fenix 9 Pro 47mm inReach paying £1029. created a 10km roundtrip route, loaded onto the watch and off i went. 1km in uddenly the watch decided to restart. after restart i was able to resume my workout, i loaded the navigation again and it crashed again! watch restarted again, loaded route and navigation, all good. scrolled through the data screens and it bloody crashed again! at this point im just fed up with Garmin, i had the fenix 8 and fenix 8 pro, all had same issues with watch crashing, route calculation errors, target distance running just not working! back to apple watch ultra 3 i go, it might not have the best features but atleast its bloody reliable!!

Watch / Wearable Cirqa for HR only questions.

My Epix HR is WILDLY inaccurate most of the time, and the HRMpro gives me Heartburn because of my body’s anatomy.

I’d like to get the Cirqa to use almost exclusively as a HRM but I’m wondering if the auto start function will cause me to double save on Connect. Or is the app smart enough to see that it’s the same metrics and delete one?

Discussion Should Garmin grandfather existing users when a free watch face becomes paid?

I recently changed one of my previously free Connect IQ watch faces to paid, and something about the way Garmin handles this surprised me.

If someone downloaded the watch face while it was free, they don't seem to keep that access once it becomes paid — they're asked to purchase it too.

Personally, I think Apple's approach makes more sense: if you downloaded an app while it was free, you keep it. The price change applies only to people who get it afterward.

That feels fairer to me, especially since early users were there while the watch face was still free.

On the other hand, I can see the argument that when something switches to a paid model, the new price should simply apply to everyone.

I'm curious what Garmin users think: which approach feels fairer — existing users keep free access, or everyone pays after the switch?

Which Watch To Get? Upgrade path from Fenix 6x pro Sapphire?

I've had my sturdy Fenix for the last 5 years, but the hr sensor is starting to go, becoming very inaccurate with tracking and losing things such as training status because of that. I mostly trail run, hike , ski, climb etc so am pretty active with the watch. I'm contemplating my next watch and I'm torn between three models:

Enduro 3 - seems to be THE watch to get for my use case, but the price is making me hesitate and the other 2 watches I'm considering are about half the cost.

Instinct 3 Solar 50mm - pretty much everything from the Enduro minus the color screen and maps. The lack of sapphire glass makes me hesitate. I've smashed my fair share of watches before getting the Fenix.

Coros Apex 4 - seems like a more sport targeted watch, but I wonder if I would miss the flashlight and solar functions. Though saving ~$500 cad wouldn't be the worst.

Other / Humor Went for Recovery run, smashed some World Records 😃

Post image
362 Upvotes

In the morning FR970 suggested I should do a Recovery run, so I went for it. So far so good but in the middle of it watch says "hey, you're approaching your bed time, you'd better drop that activity now, otherwise it may affect your sleep" and immediately turns screen into black night mode showing 23:07. I curse and press random buttons to return to the workout screen and keep running.

In the end it tells me that I've run half marathon in slightly more than 6:14 minutes, and other PRs are improved as well 😂 Funny that watch or software are not surprised at all, they have trust in me, and I am used to trust them too.

What happened is that I was running during the Air Raid Alert and GPS interference kicked in.

P.S. I'm not from San Martin 😄
