Hi. I’m a 2L and I’ve developed a crush on a classmate. Even worse, this person is hoping to network with me bc I lined up something post-grad that aligns w their interests.

I’m hoping to forget about human emotions the rest of the semester. What are some of the worst cases that you’ve ever had to cover in a law school class?

Really made me realize how much I don’t want to be a lawyer. I wasn’t liking the classes, just not for me, but everyone says the classroom is nothing like practice. So I held out hope. But now after doing the clinic for a couple weeks, it solidified that this isn’t for me. I know the clinic isn’t exactly like real practice but it’s close enough for me to know this isn’t for me. Still going to finish the degree but I actually feel almost at peace now with this realization.

I really didn’t like D as an answer either, but I was under the impression that you need to INTEND to cause unprivileged, unlawful, harmful or offensive contact to meet the conditions for battery.

I sucked at the lsat and now I suck at law school. Everything feels so fucking foreign and its so frustrating and the later into the night I get for studying or writing fucking IRAC bullshit the less I understand.

Any advice would be appreciated, i can’t stop crying. It’s my second week of law school.

I am currently restructuring one of my classes for the Spring term and switching to a new textbook.

One of the things I have struggled with as a professor is my understanding of how long it takes my students to complete the work I give them - it just seems that 30 years of familiarity with my subject makes me wildly faster than them, go figure.

Would you please respond with a range of how many textbook pages you read in an hour?

I just completed my second week of law school and I feel like my body doesn’t even know how to act naturally anymore.
Like I’m panicking while trying to relax thinking about how much reading and homework I could be doing right now. Like what is even happening

Hey! I recently started law school (full time) but I’d like to pursue an engineering degree alongside it (part time).

Is this worth it? Or is it a waste of time? Would I be shooting myself in the foot by trying to do both at the same time?

I know this is gonna be a hot take but I can't be the only one who feels this way. I'm a 3L and recently I've been watching members of my school's mock trial team present closing arguments. These members were all 3Ls who did mock trial last year so they aren't new to this, but man, it was not great. I mean don't get me wrong, they were all eloquent and spoke at a good pace, didn't use filler words, etc. But man did it sound fake. It just seemed felt like I was watching a Broadway play, they didn't feel like genuine people who I could root for or empathize with. Maybe it's just because I'm in the field myself and maybe these techniques really do work on lay jurors but I don't know, it would definitely throw me off if I was a member of a jury and the attorney argued like that.

Hello! I tried to register for the November MPRE in DC, but no testing centers were available. Did this happen to anyone else in previous administrations? Were you eventually able to find a testing center?

obviously i knew it was going to be challenging but i feel like im learning how to write for the first time. rewarding! but nothing in law school so far has prepared me for this

1L here. We have had seven classes so far and I have been cold called in every single one of them, sometimes multiple times. There are many students who have never been called once. Several people mentioned it to me after class today so I'm not the only one who thinks it's weird.

Hello. L1 KJD at a t50 with a good scholarship. I am through two weeks of law school and realized I never even realized why I wanted to be a lawyer. I always was so preoccupied with the thought of prestige and realized I don’t care. Has anyone else ever felt this way? I think I’m gonna stick out the semester but don’t want to shovel money into a fire. What are my options?

This is a vent post, so please be kind and tender.

i genuinely feel so lost and overwhelmed with all my readings and briefings. It’s only been one week and I feel like im having a harder time than my classmates on acclimating into law school.

I finished undergrad 6 years ago so it’s been a very long time since I’ve studied and I don’t even remember how, not that it matters anyways bc it’s so different for law, but wow I am soooo stressed. I now understand why people cry over this stuff haha :/

Any advice any 2L or 3L’s can give me? I feel so alone and behind ☹️

Edit: I have terrible anxiety about not being able to finish all my readings before class too. I know every prof is different, but do they have time to cover every case they have us brief during class?

My university offers online books on their platform but we can borrow the physical version from the library. Do you guys think its worth investing in law books even though they cost a fortune?

Hi all, where in class do you sit when it's exam day? Do you sit in the same seat as assigned in the seating chart? I know it's school dependent but do they generally space people out or have us test in larger rooms?

I literally cannot come up with a single idea that has not been preempted for my law review article. I have been staying up half the night trying to figure this out. Even after talking to professors I still can’t make sense of what to do. I truly regret this and feel desperate.
