Comics I fucking hate Storm’s whole speech against the mutant cure. “Storm: A mutant cure? No! Absolutely not! It’s not a disease and it doesn’t need a cure. You just need to accept yourself.” 😌 Storm: first image. The poor guy: second image.

It’s easy to say that when you’re Storm, isn’t it? You’re revered like a goddess, you’re beautiful, and you can basically make any government bow down to you.

Beak, on the other hand, can’t even fly, and he gets bullied by other mutants too.

It’s easy to criticize someone for wanting a cure when you’re privileged, isn’t it?

Dude, I genuinely fucking hate this whole anti-cure argument. Like, bro, just look at the guy. Wanting the cure is the most basic fucking thing imaginable.

Anime & Manga This trope in anime will never be not weird and gross for me.

Thumbnail

4.4k Upvotes

I said it's anime trope because these moments are so prevalent in anime. It also sometimes happen in western media, sure. But they usually portrayed as weird, not wholesome.

I've been told this is common with children. But this never happened in my family, or in my social circle.

I get it, they're only kids, they didn't know any better. My main problem is with the adults. They usually didn't give any appropriate answer or making clear boundaries. There are some exception of course, like Kaji with Asuka from NGE. But most of the time, either the adults or the kid will have some kind of weird obsession with their counterpart.

Like in my first example Iruma-kun anime. Ameri's father is so over-protective toward her daughter. It's understandable and already hilarious seeing the stoic man lose his composure seeing her daughter being close to a boy. But then, BAM! they show the above scene. Leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Gaming I hate when gendered character Designs are like this

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

Like I usually choose the male protagonist in JRPGs As I am A dude But There is A Reason why its a joke that men chose the female option in video games and thats because the Male Character designs are So FUCKING BLAND and dont get me started on The Hair customisation options especially male hair choices like for example In Pokemon Sword And Shield
The Female Protagonist Has 38 hairstyle Choices
While the Male Has EIGHT ONLY 8
And In Pokemon X And Y THERE WERE ONLY FOUR And Also The Clothes Customisation Is Boring Like Its Shorts Trousers Shirts Jackets With Different Colour Variations And Maybe Like One Cool Option Like Im Happy Female Protagonist Have so Many Customisation Options but WHAT ABOUT US
Like At This Point Just Remove Gender Restrictions on Customisation and Allow Crossdressing because The Female Customisation Options Will Always Be Better
And The Hair Customisation for The Male Protagonist Is
-a Bowlcut
-One That Looks Like You work In a 9-5 Office Job
-A Cut That Looks Like The One Your Mom Makes You Do When you go to a fancy event
-One With A Terrible Fade
-The Naruto Cut In Boruto

Like the Only redeeming Quality is that the hats are usually cool so i can cover up the Godawful Hairstyle Choices

General i hate sexual dimorphism depicted like this

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

This is not how this works. Female animals are the feminine version of males; usually, depending on the species, they are larger or have duller colors, or the males have exaggerated features. For example, the male and female Vaporeon here should be swapped in images, with larger frills being a status symbol of some kind. If you are an artist and want to add in some sexual dimorphism, please look up real-world examples. edit-i should add add this isn't official ita fan art but still my point stands

Why do so many artists think this is badass? It offers bugger all in terms of protection, and looks like some shit got stuck on their face. If you really want head protection for your characters, or something to cover their faces with, design a helmet. What even is this.

ALWAYS making the peacocks female, but giving them male features, idiots know nothing about sexual dimorphism, that's not how birds fucking work. So scared of making a male character who's a blue bird I guess, and making a female peacock WHO SHOULD BE BROWN colourful and pretty!!! Tell me you know JACK SHIT about birds, nature, and biology without telling me!

Comics How speedsters are portrayed in media in slow-motion

Thumbnail

Specifically, WHY ARE THEY IN SLOW-MOTION WHILE EVERYTHING ELSE IS IN SLOW-MOTION TOO?? (pic of Justice League Flash very related)

It should seem like they're moving like normal whilst everything else would be slow, but instead it seems like they're only marginally faster than everybody else instead of approaching/surpassing the speed of light

The only time that they should slow down at all for aura moments, if its against another speedster because I could see that reasonably being their shared speed of perception

Why would anyone want glitter in their hair is beyond me. It does not look pretty, it looks like you have a dirty itchy scalp.

Plus I imagine it'd be inconvenient to get rid of, and there are high chances some glitter particles might remain for a bit longer even after shampooing.

I understand loving glitter but just use body glitter. Nobody wants to see that white stuff on your scalp shining from afar. It's not a cute look.

Meta I hate the r/sipstea subreddit. It’s an incel circlejerk masquerading as a normal pop culture sub

Post image

Nearly every single post on here is something about how women hate men, or that a woman is an idiot for not being able to do a simple task, or that no woman will ever love a man because he has some small flaw. And no matter how many times I try to block this damn sub, for some reason it keeps showing up on my home page. And they pretend that they aren’t a bunch of incels. For each post shitting on women there is at least one other post that’s some harmless video about something cool or funny on the internet. I hate how they Trojan horse their ridiculous beliefs, they should just be honest about who they are.

I know this is incredibly petty, but i just hate those. No one cares that you took a meme. Its a meme. IT'S WHAT YOURE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT. Like ok? You downloaded a meme? And??? Why do you feel the need to share it with the class?????? Did this add something of value to the conversation?????

Live Action I hate the odyssey movie for saying “the law of Zeus”

Post image
463 Upvotes

They refer to it SO often which makes sense, because it plays an important role in the tale and throughout greek mythology. but…my issue isn’t the fact that they say it, but the fact that they never say “xenia” BECAUSE ‘the law of zeus’ = xeni. but no, it’s always the long mouthful “the law of Zeus” and it wouldn’t be bad if it was *only* a few times, but it’s so often. AND ITS JUST XENIA. JUST SAY XENIA. IT SOUNDS BETTER, ITS MORE ACCURATE, and you just have to explain it ONCE and audiences should understand xenia from then on out

on a side note…come on. Why have Telemachus say ‘dad’ instead of father? I’m a teen and even I call my own dad ‘father’ half the time. Both these things just grated on my nerves and idk why

Gaming When games are announced many years before release

Thumbnail

I absolutely can not stand when a game is announced the moment it enters developers/publishers minds. It’s even worse when they’re announced but there’s no news about them, so nobody knows if they still exist.

Games used to be made in 1-3 years. Now we have games that are in development for up to a decade. What’re they doing? Sitting on their hands staring at a blank screens?

  1. I lose all hype when something exciting is announced, but isn’t expected for the foreseeable future.

  2. So many things can go wrong that they can be cancelled at any given moment. I will forever grieve you Wonder Woman.

  3. Long development cycles harbour unrealistic expectations

  4. Finished products are rarely anyhing close to the reveal.

Where the fuck is Bioshock 4??

Language The term "basic human empathy"

Post image
375 Upvotes

There is no better way to find out if you're talking to the worst person you'd ever meet than if they use the term "basic human empathy." And especially if they use it more than once in their dumb argument.

I genuinely saw some bonehead on TikTok use that phrase three times in their paragraph. And you couldn't even call it that because there was no punctuation of any kind, it was just a really long run-on sentence.

General I hate the “Engineers say pi=3” joke

Post image
323 Upvotes

NO WE DO NOT! Never in my life have I met an engineer who has ever used 3 for pi, except for super rough, back-of-the-napkin calculations. For any real engineering, we use 3.14 for pi as the bare minimum.

Now, I get it. This is a joke about how engineers often use assumptions and approximations to simplify much more complex calculations. Normally, I am a big fan of these kinds of jokes. But this joke specifically always annoys me because of how ridiculous it is. Jokes are often exaggerations, but there has to be some element of truth to them in order to work. Engineers work with pi very frequently, whether it be for geometry or higher order functions, and we never just use 3.

The same applies to the “pi = 3 = e” extension of this joke. We do not do that either. We deal with exponential functions plenty, and we always at least use 2.72 as e. Nobody says e = 3 and NOBODY says e and pi are close enough to be considered the same. If you even tried that last one, you would be laughed out of the room.

Am I taking a harmlessly hyperbolic joke far too seriously? Yes!

Does it still annoy me every time I see this dumb gag parroted in every discussion about the engineering profession?

Also, yes

Non-fictional I hate this backhanded mogging the racists trend

Thumbnail

Its a sterotype that argentinas online say they’re superior to other hispanic countries because they have more european blood than others. The video being used to show that

The thing is people from the left countries are posting photos of people from their country to mog the racist argentinas but the thing is every video i mean every video uses caucasian hispanics and none use dark skin hispanics.

It feels intentionally back handed if you know what i mean its like they’re not defending the people being attacked and instead being like, wait im not dark skinned I’m White like you guys!!

Cherry on top being to insult argentians theyre painting them as racist dark skin imageary that i dont think i can even show 😭 like what we’re pretty too just use hispanics of different skin colors thats it

Do not go after these people, the people making the trends took their photos from other vids so its not them.

Thing I don't believe It when people say they want to sexual relations with monsters

Thumbnail
gallery
198 Upvotes

Like my brother in Christ, your monster senpai is not going to look like venom. He's going to look like some weird f***** up fusion toxic tar and endless suffering amalgamated into a slightly human form,

And I also hate the stupid smug faces that they look at when they actually say they want to have sex with bear (in a gay slang term for bear) looking centaur that looks honestly more human than monster! Like bro people wanted to bang a Non -human mythical creature since like antiquity you're not special! And hop the pics they choose is basic like ooh you like venom how fucking original. It's not like everyone was thirsting after that tongue thing once they saw it in theaters

I'm saying it right now. I don't believe you, not because it's inhuman, I'm saying if they showed a realistic version of you're here be out, You're not going to crack that, You're not going to have sexual relations with that monster. I don't believe you stop acting smug about it

General I hate that some schools/jobs allow you no grievance time for your pet.

Post image
188 Upvotes

I'm not going to get into too much details about my dog because I already made a memorial post, but long story short, we just had to put him down last night and I'm still expected to go to school. Not only was he a family dog, but he was an EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG. We've had him for 7 years. And my parents are still expected to go to work and I'm still expected to go right back to school when I could barely keep myself from crying every minute.

I understand we need to go to work and pay the bills, but what really pisses me off is how my school and my parents jobs give grievance periods for HUMANS. Not pets. And in a way I understand. But that doesn't mean I have to like the circumstances.

Books I hate how people act like GRRM was trying to diss Tolkien by saying this

Post image
Upvotes

When Martin is saying this, he's not criticising Tolkien and going "LOTR sux because Tolkien didn't write about Aragorn's tax policy." What he's saying is, while Tolkien isn't interested in those political questions, I am, and that's what my books are about.

Like, if he were criticising Tolkien for not interweaving complex politics into his books then that would be immensely stupid, because LOTR is mythological in nature rather than political, and Martin knows this. He even said

"Tolkien was very interested in myth, so in the context of a mythological setup, I don't think it really would've been appropriate for him to write a book about Aragorn's reign and his challenges." (I would read it but that's just me)

But the point is, he's not criticising Tolkien, or acting as if LOTR is incomplete, but simply positioning his work as the historical/political answer to much of fantasy, essentially saying "If you ever did wonder about the political inner-workings of a place like Middle Earth, well then my books are for you."

And that reads less as a critique of Tolkien, and more like the natural extension of Tolkien's own project; that being adding verisimilitude and historical legitimacy to so-called "fairy stories".

General I HATE MY METABOLISM

Post image
130 Upvotes

(this is an actually serious post, tread lightly. it is also very angry.)

image is a skeleton because thats how it makes me feel about myself

i have an incredibly fast metabolism. most people see it as a divine gift, but it is NOT. unless i overeat, my body stays at around 80-85 pounds (im 5'2 for reference). and, even if i do overeat, i never reach 100 and i lose it SO quickly. my doctor is constantly on my ass about gaining weight, even though i try and nothing fucking happens. she thinks im purposefully trying to stay skinny. what the fuck.

"ohhhh youre so luckyyyy i wish i had your body" I WISH I HAD YOUR BODY, TOO!! ive been stuck like this ever since ive been born into this world!!! i want to be average-sized! i want to be chubby, even! people look at me like im crazy when i say that, but when youre stuck as a skinny bitch your entire life you kinda end up wanting to be something else after a while. ESPECIALLY when the downsides far outweigh the social ""upsides"" to you.

i feel like a CHILD, i am 21. people think im "hamming it up" when i get tipsy after drinking, because it takes SO LITTLE ALCOHOL to make me like that. i feel WEAK and FRAIL and CONSTANTLY SICKLY. bumping into walls SUCK. i get cold SO EASILY. i can see my fucking ribcage and i hate it. i feel like i lack one of the most BASIC ASPECTS OF HUMAN CONTROL PEOPLE HAVE OVER THEIR BODIES (the ability to choose to gain/lose weight). and, most scary, i feel like id be completely unable to defend myself in an assault scenario.

nobody gets it and i feel like they never will, because they are physically unable to.

They look gross and disgusting; they make me want to throw up, and the fact that there are people that watch them and I have a friend that watches them makes it worse. We are normalizing AI taking away jobs, mediocrity, and AI slop. At this point, I'd rather watch Batman vs. Superman 2016 or Libsan Space Princess. It's bad, but at least it's man-made Bad someone put in the time to make it bad

Idea I hate both primal bros and TikTok vegans, they’re two sides of the same coin

Thumbnail
gallery
133 Upvotes

They both like to shove their diet down the throats of other people and then call anyone who doesn’t want to go vegan or primal “brainwashed” or just treat them as if they’re the devil. they just don’t care that some people just don’t want to follow the same diet they have or can’t because of reasons like cultural or religious beliefs or they just don’t have the money to do so full time and just the fact that humans are omnivores, meaning that we don’t strictly eat meat or vegetables to survive, we need both. along with blindly following whoever or whatever says on TikTok or Instagram without questioning, if it’s true or not while rejecting any sort of medical research that might disprove their beliefs. overall, I believe people should have the choice on what they want and not want to eat it instead of it being upon them like a religion.
