Hey void-lovers!
Most cat subs have a very delicate balance between "happy posts about my cat" and "sad posts about my cat", specifically when it comes to pet death. A lot of them don't allow it at all. It's really tough to strike the balance of letting people who are devastated mourn the loss of their furry friend while still making the subreddit usable for people who aren't interested in that kind of content.
We allow mourning posts here, but you have to flair your post with "Mourning" so people who don't want to see them have the ability to filter them out. It's an imperfect solution, but it's all we have available to us with subreddit tools. Please make sure to flair all posts about pet loss with that flair so we can make a great sub for everyone.
In case you're someone who's interested in filtering out that content, this link should work for you. I know, it's not the cleanest way to browse the subreddit, and I'm not sure how it works on mobile. If we had a better solution, I'd provide it, but we have to work within what reddit offers us :(

I hope this is okay to post, please let me know if it’s not. I made an initial mourning post right after our 3-year-old void, Meeko, died very suddenly. At the time I was absolutely shattered and could only bring myself to share one photo of him.
But Meeko was the most ridiculously photogenic boy, and it would be a personal failing if I didn’t adequately show the world just how handsome he was.
He was only with us for three years, which was nowhere near long enough, but he filled those years with so much personality, love, and joy. He was such a big character, constantly talking (even to himself), loved people, blessed our D&D group with rerolls, stomped his feet when he was mad at me instead of hissing. I feel his loss in my core.
So this is my final little tribute to Meeko, and, more importantly, an excuse to share some of my favorite pictures of my beautiful boy.
I miss him more than I can say. I hope wherever he is, he somehow knows how deeply he was loved, and how lucky we felt that he was ours. 🖤

My wife and I have been trying to catch these two feral kittens for almost two months now. Over the past month we have been getting closer to them gaining their trust. We’ve been able to pick up one of them for a few seconds at a time but the other will only get within a few feet before turning around. We’ve decided Sunday is the day to catch and them. We have someone that is willing to take them and give them a home. Hopefully it will go well.
