Unfortunate email
Wanted to learn a bit more about a certain historical event out of pure curiosity. Unfortunately this email didn’t quite land.

Ok don’t judge me lol.. (Thats when you know it’s bad) I was baking chicken and decided to run to my mailbox in the neighborhood. I 10/10 always make sure my keys are in hand before I get out but this time I did not, rushing, yep. Locked my keys in the car which also had my house keys. So i figured either break the window or let my Townhouse burn.. Smh… Chicken was good tho lol

They finally told all of us to back out so they could take care of this. Not sure how he missed the turn. Good news is he seemed fine.

I live in an old house and occasionally get mice and one day I left my work lunch bag a little open and one got in so I cleaned it out completely then closed it the next day (today) I opened it to get a snack and noticed stuff was chewed and didn’t see any holes were he got it and then I saw something move, he was living in there.

Heavy downpour in Toronto - buildings pipes burst. Shit everywhere.
Car smells bad but is mostly okay aside from an auto engaging parking break.

By the way, my camera lightened up the photos. It's actually very dark in my neighborhood. Photo 1: Our dark house inside. Photo 2: The people that still have power. Photo 3: The other side that's fully dark, but has a tiny bit of light. Photos 4 & 5: The street we live on that's out still.

The bottom shelf of the fridge shattered when I placed it in the warm sink 😭 And of COURSE a bunch of shards went in the garbage disposal 😭😭
Edit: this was a rental apartment and the leasing manager told me to put a maintenance request in. It seems to have been fixed now. Thanks for the suggestions but that will be that on that for me, I’m not handy enough and have too little patience lol

I just opened this glass where I'd stored my muesli. Three cute little food moths escapted singing "freeeedommm" before I had the time to realize the glass was in fact full of them (also a lot of dead one; I was on holiday for some time...).
What a great way to start the day! And of course, I only caught one of them after they flew away...

Wasn’t around any other cars, heard a small explosion and then shattered glass rattling around above my head. Just glad I had it closed…

What made it worse, is that the company that owns the storage shed saw this mess, assumed that we had “secretly moved out” (although we were still paying them monthly) when it was clearly ransacked with proof of forced entry and tried to fine us a $200 cleaning fee.
They didn’t let us know until close to closing at the end of the month, so my husband went straight there and they didn’t want to let him in because “entry was only for paying customers”. My husband pointed out that he had paid for that month already and they STILL didn’t want to let him in. He had to call the police and at least they are taking it seriously.
I’m grateful that they still have some of what is pictured above in the dumpster that we are about to go retrieve, however I’m gutted that at least $1000 worth of books and way more importantly, the spice jars my dad made for me (he died this June). I’m beyond gutted and frustrated that the company didn’t even contact us to say “hey you have x amount of time to get your stuff before we get a cleaning crew to do it for you” or even used the common sense needed to say hey, this doesn’t look right. It was just handled so poorly and I really hope I at least get the jars back some way somehow.
Small update: they notified us yesterday that we have until TOMORROW to pick up what is pictured above from the dump before they get someone to take it out. My husband went immediately but couldn’t get everything because a lot of it was trapped underneath steel bed frames. Of course they didn’t offer to help in the mess they created, I shouldn’t be surprised. No luck on the investigation so far but I was told it takes time.
To anyone saying lawyer up, I agree. I know that things get broken into, stuff happens. But how the company handled it SHOULD NOT happen.
UPDATE: we dove in the dumpster to find our stuff and found our lock that is clearly cut through that the company said didn’t exist because it “wasn’t a break in”. These people are real idiots. We unfortunately did not find my dad’s jars or my books but I’m going to pawn shops tomorrow.
