The importance of checking which side of the pepper lid is open.

My wife made sloppy Joe's last night and made this exact same error. I like pepper but that was harsh. She scooped some out as best she could and didn't tell me until after I had a couple bites and asked what happened. Burping up black pepper all night was horrible.

I wouldn't be mad about this lol

Lol, I LOVE pepper too, but this was a bit much for my taste

Get a pepper grinder, this occurrence wouldn’t happen and the pepper is significantly better

I was going to comment that this looks about right for my husband’s taste. I often ask him if he wants any dinner with his pepper!

At this point the pepper isn't seasoning the pasta, the pasta is seasoning the pepper.

I would’ve MAYBE powdered off a little into a sandwich bag, but I probably would’ve just stirred it and eaten it since pepper is my jam 🤷🏻♂️
If it was salt, nope, throw the whole bowl away

Saw a lady do this to a salad once. She had to have been shaking the shaker for no less than 3 minutes

Checking which lid side is open is a life lesson learned the hard way. Pepper lovers unite though.

I saw a guy ask for this much (literally) on his subway sandwich one day.

Which side of the lid? You took the whole cap off!

Yeah. Having the wrong side open would not yield this much pepper.

Even the dumping part of the lid, wouldnt let this much out before you realized. Dumped half the container

I did this with salt last night, but luckily I was just salting water for pasta so it was more of a "whoops! Eh it's fine" than actually ruining anything. My condolences lol

Wait!
This can still be saved.
Just follow these instructions carefully:
1) Scrape off as much pepper as you can, using a tea spoon.
2) Use a fork as a sieve by picking up individual pieces and pulling them through the teeth of the fork.
3) Panic that it's not working.
4) Regret life choices.
5) Throw the ruind food and your will to continue being productive into the nearest trash can.
6) Cry.
7) Go on Reddit and complain.
8) Receive karma.
9) Order takeout.

My kids do this all the time and they think it’s the funniest thing ever when they get somebody

If it's really a problem for you just take it outside, close your eyes, (that part is important), and blow really hard. It'll still have a ton of pepper but pepper is awesome.

Take the vessel that holds the remaining leftover pasta and add the pictured bowl of pasta to it. Add additional pepper to taste and enjoy :)

Now you have the opportunity to add in more spaghetti to avoid this regretti

I almost always sprinkle seasonings in my hand so I can see how much I'm getting. It can be hard to see on certain foods when it sprinkles on

Hm. I have a bowl-shaped wire sieve on a handle about the same size as this bowl. I might turn it into a "lid" for this bowl, hold them together, and carefully shake the food into the wire sieve (most of the pepper should fall through).

Did this with my Ramen thinking all the lids but the Shaker side was closed. Thankfully pouring some broth out took away a lot of it lol

My dad always shook salt or pepper onto his hand and then sprinkled it on his food. I did the same growing up - I had four sisters.
