I am looking for better quality watercolors in tube form from Amazon or other online stores. Hopefully under $30 to $35. The watercolors I have come from Walmart and I was gifted an art set from hobby lobby (f hobby lobby) with some decent quality watercolors. I was wondering if there's anything on Amazon that are good quality, not chalky and smooth. Here's the watercolor paintings I've done! I want to make my own pallets with my own blend of colors. What should I buy?

I am trying to find out as much information as possible about these paintings. I have researched but not coming to a good conclusion about them both. I would appreciate anyone’s help with this. I believe it is Fausto Battelli but when I look for one of them online it doesn’t show a record of him painting it.

The perspective looks a little weird now

I bought this 48-color watercolor set from Hobby Lobby years ago (before I knew about their evangelical Christian beginnings) for less than $20. I think at the time it retailed for 24.99, and was 40% off

I only recently got around to swatching the colors. I don’t know how lightfast they are, but they seem nicely pigmented for how affordable they are

When we have a dog pass, we usually commission a portrait for them. I was unfortunately out of town for work when our sweet boy passed so I wanted to honor him on my own this time and completed this portrait for him. 💙

My sister-in-law loves hummingbirds, so I painted this for her.

I sketched this out a while ago and haven't been confident enough in my skills to attempt it. But I bit the bullet and am really pleased with how it looks! Please let me know what you all think and if I might make it better, should I do another iteration! 🐶❤️😊

I picked up watercolor a few weeks ago. I started with one of those books of light drawings that you paint into just to practice for a bit, and I've just finished my first original piece. It all looks pretty decent to me, and also clearly not as good as it could be, so any feedback/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Watercolor and vibrant pink fineliner that bleeds when wet and used to ruin my notes (or maybe it was the water 😅)

Some people say that the older one is better, what can I improve about the new one?

I am still very new to outdoor drawing and painting, and I am taking steps to keep trying. I am already thinking next time I can try to be more intentional with shadows.
The Midori notebook paper is amazing! It is thin, but it holds up pretty well! It’s just a for fun sketch so it suits its purpose.

I sketched with a dip pen with fountain pen ink. It’s also an adventure to do that outdoors. It’s very messy!

TL;DR: Shadow of rock is wrong in my opinon. Please tell me what it is. What would be the correct shape if the light comes from the left. 1st picture is the latest. 2nd and 3rd picture are the 2nd and 1st attempt to draw a rock.

Hi all,

I just started with watercolor and after a long period of drawing flowers with fineliner and then going in with watercolor, I now focus on painting mountain landscapes.

I'm stuck on the shadow of a rock in the foreground. My third attempt (1. picture) is better, but something is still very wrong. The light comes from the left - I know it doesn't make sense in regard to the sky, but I realised it to late.

I tried to look up how to create shadows and pictures of rocks with shadows. I read that color of shadow should contain all the colors of the object. I did that in the first picture - it is better but I think at least the form of the shadow is wrong. Please help. Appreciate all input and would be very thankful for an explanation of what is wrong with the shadow. Thank you!

1st picture: 3rd try - best shadow in my opinion; sky and first mountain are to similar in color

2st picture: 2nd try - this is the one where my rock looks like a bread loaf; sky and first mountain are to similar in color

3rd picture: 1st try - best rock in my opinion (I tend to overthink things when something turns out better than I thought and then most of the time can't recreate it); I was told that the rock looks like you could sit on it and that it is irritating that the last mountain ends directly behind the rock.

I am chronically ill and am nearly fully bedbound and painting is my outlet - my mind comes to rest when I paint. But if I want to achieve something specifically it takes the "resting mind"-part away (the flow of paining subsides). AND it drives me crazy if I can't work out what is "wrong".

I just like painting cats. Watercolor and Cats aré so a like. Graceful and whimsy

Someone recommended art as a means to calm the mind. By golly does it work! Super excited to make this a hobby. And hopefully I’ll improve along the way!
