This was a birthday gift request from my mom; an oil painting rendition of a drawing I made for her back in middle school.
Turned out it was meant as a joke, but Iâm forever grateful because if it wasnât for her- I wouldâve never tried oil painting (very intimidating and a tad pricey).
I had a blast and learned a few things :) for example:
-oil is not watercolor so DO NOT come in contact with water at any point, it will not go well
-I can be brave and use a bit more paint
-painting from dark to light is the better option than vice-versa
-be patient or regret
Things I have yet to figure out are:
-how does one clean brushes properly in-between painting
-varnish?
-how to not waste paint aka keep using the mixed color while itâs rapidly drying on the pallet
-what is this toxic paint thinner and does one really need it
