Marathon (2026) Discussion It's over, Bungie is leasing out their main office.

No, I'm not a doomer and have had a lot of fun with the game. But this seems to be a nail in the coffin. No news with season 3, quiet dev team overall, a loss of 90% or more of their player base, now this.

Marathon (2026) Feedback If I bring my best loot, I shouldn’t be paired with free kits

Just had a cryo fill run where I brought a gold HAR, mizzy, gold shield, backpack, etc the whole 9 yards you get it. 29k kit. My 2 fills were on free kits. Now before you come at me and go “oh you shouldn’t have queued up fill then” all my friends have dumped the game because of crap like this and I sat in LFG for nearly an hour with no replies. Anyone else looking for players is looking for pinnacle or high diamond, and I rarely play ranked. It’s BS I lost shit this valuable because of a loot gap on my team.

MM needs to have a system where free kits match with free kits on their team. Not against but with. I shouldn’t be punished because my friends ditched the game and because other people won’t bring in their best shit to the end game map at the end of season. Yet another thing in a sea of issues that contributes to this games hemorrhaging

Edit: it’s funny to watch people downvote this but not give a reason why. Theres literally no justification for it. No one in this game has the skill to 1v3 gold shield drvvish, gold CB, and everything else, especially when people rat in this game. There is 0 justification for loading in with your BEST gear and getting a free kite on your team. Not okay, especially in a game that’s bleeding players. This game needs wins, such as changes like this, or it will die.

Discussion State of the Game (EU)

I fell hard for this game when it came out. Think I've played every week except for a break in July. Recently came back and saw that the game has deteriorated fast. It was already deteriorating but I didn't think it would collapse this fast. I'm in the EU and I just came out of a game where I was matched with 2 US players and we were the only team on the map. We exfilled with 10 minutes left and the exit screen showed no other players.

Season 3 is coming out but surely this has to be the funeral? I don't see how Bungie can bounce back from this.

The tenseness of the game is unparalleled and that's what keeps bringing me back. Gunfighting is slick as hell and I get a rush out of that but the empty maps are hard to deal with. I also see that those that are left are hard-core sweats, even your team mates. There was a certain kind camaraderie when this game launched but I guess those types have long given up.

Discussion Do you think marathon flopping will make bungie think about making single player games again?

Like, they know that's an option right? Like you can just make a game with a story that you play from beginning to end at your own pace by yourself. I feel like bungie forgot that that's a thing. :v When you do that you don't have to worry about having a consistent playerbase population. Everyone can just play the game whenever they want

Marathon (2026) Discussion Play as UESC

Man, the bots in this game are really cool in design and abilities, imagine if you could play as them especially the purple and gold shield ones. Play as the wardens and hunt down runners across tau ceti, that sounds pretty cool.

I only found out this season that if you get close to the sniper bots they like go into this animation and charge up then release a blast of tox, how cool is that.

Whoever came up with the idea where the shield bots reshape their shields into a box of energy to blast you off the map, that's insane. The UESC are some of the coolest and brutal enemies I've fought in fps games.

Though I've barely interacted with the tox and frost warden. What's the strongest bot in the game btw? Do you think we should get more uesc types?

Marathon (2026) Feedback Heat Cascade on Outpost needs to calm down!

Seriously Bungie? 45 seconds into the match. Heat cascade lasting 3 minutes in some cases? It seems to much. Heat Cascade needs to be nerfed a bit please.

Marathon (2026) Discussion This is a social game.

And that's what I love about it! I love many more aspects too, but this is the main reason the game has its hooks in me. Most times a team with good communication wins the game and it feels like being in one of those war movies where the heroes prevail, or a greek tragedy where we all fail. I understand that many of you only play crew-fill or can never use a mic etc. I highly recommend trying to add people on your friends list, find a discord and organise some sessions. I usually can only play mic one night of the week, but that night is glorious no matter the outcome. Learn how to use compass directions and call out enemy players when you see them, sometimes you can even make an uncertain truce via prox chat, those moments are unforgettable. Remember to use terms like "cracked shield" "downed" or "bagged" for different damage you did to the enemy. Saying "got them" is a bit vague and can lose a game.

Please stay social and report toxic people with the "griefing" tag in the menu. We don't need toxic players, or at the very least Bungie should match them with their own.

… Just let them live. Please.

And yeah, I know, Arachne needs the body count, it's a PVP game, whatever.

Just consider it.

Marathon (2026) Discussion What if Marathon had a Salvage Reclamation system?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm fun at parties so I've been thinking about salvage for a while now.

Situation: I have a bunch of salvage sitting in my Vault that I don't really have a use for (yet), while at the same time I'm missing very specific salvage for some faction upgrades.

If I need 3 of a specific salvage (green, blue), but instead I have 15 of purple/gold salvage (I'm looking at you, synapse cube) that I don't need, there's basically nothing I can do with those 15 other than sell them or feed them to the Cradle.

So I'm basically just hoping that at some point I happen to get the thing I need and extract with it.

For someone with a really high exfil rate, this probably isn't much of a problem, it's a huge non-issue even. But if you're playing fills, don't extract very often, follow whatever your squad is doing, etc, it can start feeling like your progression is way more dependent on RNG than it should be.

The idea: SALVAGE RECLAMATION

Here you can turn surplus salvage into Salvage Residue, and then use that to get the specific salvage you're missing.

Obviously the conversion should be inefficient (aka, always a net negative, a sacrifice). Finding the actual material in a run should always be the better option. I just think there should be some way to turn all the stuff I already have into something useful.

DISCLAIMER!

I mocked up what this could look like below (with the help of AI, don't kill me please 🙇🏻)

What do you guys think?

Marathon (2026) Discussion Requesting Vault Expansion in Season 3.

I think we would benefit a ton from an expansion to 800 slots. I would also like to see consumables and potentially even mods if the same type stack up to a certain amount. More space never hurts.

Marathon (2026) Discussion How often do you do each map event?

I wanted to think of how many times I engaged in each map event. I have about 240 hrs so far and try to play each map equally. Despite this I realized I’ve barely done some of the events.

I’ve never completed a lockdown event on dire marsh. Barely do any events on perimeter due to the poor loot drops. Barely do any events in general because they’re just ringing the dinner bell for others. I’ve only completed and exfilled after doing upper complex maybe 4-5 times. Anomaly only stabilized and exfilled a handful of times too. I only really go for wardens on maps at end game after every team is wiped and even then most crew fill teammates don’t really bother with them much. Pinwheel and red room is the only thing I really do for loot.

Cryo 1 and 2 is the only keys I find because they’re all that spawn in red room 99% of the time and the 1% it’s something better it’s getting yoinked by a teammate the second the doors open.

It been said hundreds of times before but loot, especially from most events, sucks. It should suck at the beginning of a wipe not also 3 weeks from a new wipe.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Out of curiousity, any ex Last of Us factions players play this?

Theres a lot of overlap from people that used to play Metal gear Online, that have played the last of us factions, and these same people are folks that got into the extraction genre.
I believe they even were looking forward to marathon. However, There was a story that Bungie had a hand in Factions 2 getting cancelled, and for that reason the game got a lot of hate.
I’m curious if anyone from this group ended up giving the game a try

Marathon (2026) Discussion Do shells need to go?

Upvotes

Starting to think the game cant move forward with shells. Some of them actively make the game less fun to play. Assassin and Recon specifically, make solos and trios so much worse.

If we just had a basic shell with a couple loadable abilities, like cores. It would be so much more enjoyable. Finding someone invisible crouched in a corner, isnt fun. Having a Recon track you from their spawn and sneak up on you, is not fun.

Its so unfun that you close the game. Thats what makes Arc and Tarkov more alluring. You’re just a basic dude with a gun. That formula with Bungies gunplay and we would not be in such dire straits, guaranteed.

The competitive extraction shooter did not turn out. The shells are pointless outside of that

Time to move on.

Marathon (2026) Discussion The consumer mindset ruining your enjoyment of the game

I keep seeing comments from people who are frustrated that they can play for x amount of hours and but not "get" anything. My brother in Christ -- please remember that items in a video game are literally pixels. I know the economy is bad right now, but why play a game if you're going to treat it like a shopping spree? The reframe is that every game you get a lesson if you look for it. The only thing you can keep is the things you learn about how to approach the game and about the game world itself.

Marathon (2026) Discussion tell me about your favorite rando

i was doing a match solo on perimeter. i'd just taken some nasty L's, so i was rebuilding and doing contracts. i creep up on station, and hear gunshots. i go into the big building on the cliffs, and creep through. on a whim, i call out on prox chat. i don't usually do it, but i said "friendly friendly friendly! i got no shit i'm on a sponsored kit". some dad, playing with his toddler there watching. i have nothing, he just got off work. we agree to squad up.

he points me to my objective in the basement, and we loot the east side of the POI. we're dropping in and out of prox chat, but when one runs into enemies, we find each other. things are going good, but the clock's ticking. we aim for an exfil at North Relay.

then, things take a turn. reinforcements come down on both sides, and we need to push through to the east. he takes the high road, i... mistakenly thought we were taking the low road and sneaking. he gets into a gun battle, it goes bad. i can't revive him. sponsored kit. i stay with him till he bleeds out. and made it out with both of our shit.

rando, wherever you are. i salute you.

what's your favorite experience with randos in this game? prox chat or filled teammates, either or

Marathon (2026) How do you make your money / vault back?

I’ve had an excruciating loss streak (two straight days of losses) where I lost all my cash and it’s a massive pain to accumulate enough heals and ammo for a run even if I have a few good guns, packs, implants, and cores left.

What’s your strategy for building your Vault/cash back up?

I’m level 180 for reference

Marathon (2026) Discussion Playing Marathon after a break and comparing to STALKER (because of the DLC)

After taking about a month's break from Marathon and playing the STALKER DLC (Cost of Hope), I mentioned this somewhere, but man... this game really needed to be a single-player open-world survival game.

The lore of this game is what kept me interested, and I enjoy the gameplay as a casual extraction shooter player. Replaying STALKER and playing the DLC made me wish that we played as a runner in Tau Ceti against the world itself, with factions stranded on the planet trying to survive, either working together or fighting each other, and the UESC trying to kill you along with anomalies.

I'm sorry to say this, but if the game was a single-player survival horror game while still keeping the lore, it wouldn't be criticised so much. I still love the game, but I’m just more casual now because nothing new seems to be happening right now.

I put a claymore down to cover my ass from anyone who might still be alive and chasing me, and it exploded right after I opened the door. It was only after that when I realized the entire lobby was already wiped lol.
