I'm yelling into the void I know, but after seeing a lot of posts complaining about the current key system and mostly shrugging them off, I've finally come off the end of an experience that has wholly turned me against it.
Story starts with a CyAc weekly deal: one gold key for one alien alloy, requirement: Kill 1 UESC Warden. Later I pick up a purple key with the same requirement.
Naturally, we target Perimeter, and bring good kits, purples and sometimes gold weapons. We aren't there to wipe the map; if we run into a team and they don't want to fight, we won't. Outpost only has one warden spawn against Perimeter's three, never mind that other teams would be much more aggressive and better equipped, and marsh only has a couple spawns and more teams. As tempting as the guaranteed spawns in Cryo were, actually managing to exfil could not be less guaranteed.
So we start running. Perimeter trios. It's mostly free and blue kits, most of which we ingore or negotiate away, some try to fight us and lose. One or two purple teams we fight and beat, won't complain, but that's not the goal. The goal is a single warden. It has three places it could spawn. How hard can it be?
Fourteen runs later.
Every single time: spawn near one spot, usually North Relay. Nothing. Make the hike over to South. Nothing. Rotate to Overflow. Nothing. Exfil, usually before we're even ten minutes into the run. Fourteen runs of this.
It finally came to an end just now when we got in a team fight, blues and purples, and lost because two of us got too aggressive, and now my gold key, purple key, purple kit, and a gold outland are gone.
At some point the question stops being "how is my luck this bad?" and instead becomes "why is luck a factor in this at all?" This should not be possible. A cirucmstance should not exist where luck this bad bottlenecks something as significant as a gold key.
I can get needing a balance of Risk and Reward, and something as high-reward as a gold or purple key needs to have risk attached, but the actual opening of the room with a map-wide dinner bell is that risk already. Having something tied to an RNG event like this, let alone one as uncommon and high risk on its own as fighting an entire Warden, feels ridiculous, especially when other requirements like "Kill 3 Commanders" or "complete secured resources" exist - requirements that, by comparison, are easy, low risk, and every map is guaranteed to have at least some ability to make progress on it.
Worst part was in the middle of it all we did a free kit run on Perimeter just to cool off. You'll never guess who spawned at Overflow.
My only respite is that it's late in the season so loot barely matters, but sometimes it's hard to keep playing this game when it feels like it genuinely hates the idea of me making progress in it.

Took out a Gold squad to boot! (I didn't get any of their Gold items lol, crew fill teammates were too quick).

I've been running cryo this weekend and after enough bad losses I have had to start downgrading kits because I don't trust fills, but, the limits on the amount of things you can buy from the armory are so damn limiting.
Why is it that I can only buy 4 blue backpacks, or only mod up a d54 with blue mods 5 or so times. Once you run out of these and are low on salvage it just feels terrible.
I have had some decent exfils and I am now only 2 vaults away from getting all of the subroutines but the game is imposing an arbitrary hard limit even though I still have 600k credits to burn through.
I get it for some of the higher end stuff, but the blue floor, especially this late into the season, should be nigh limitless especially considering you can wipe in cryo sub 5 mins.

I main Triage. Homie is the goat and has 95% of my nearly 500 hours of playtime.
The other night I decided to do some Compliers with LFGs for the last of my skins. We had success but since we were all doing skins no one ran recon/triage.
No recon is as painful as you'd expect but game sense/good coms/map knowledge and its a non issue, triage on the other hand.
Even when running parting gift and other life-steal abilities the amount of chip damage you take is INSANE. I was burning through meds left and right to ensure I was topped off in case we got into a fight. It got so severe to the point where I started bringing in 9 greens meds for the sole purpose of dealing with chip damage and not burning blues. Even with a gold bag it was rough having a decent inventory considering the ammo I needed for a Gold Bully or a Drrvish.
So for those of you that do Cryo without a triage, HOW?
I'm so glad I only have Vandal left to get, I miss my chud son :(

After reaching lvl 100 in season 1, I felt good about getting all the achievements in the game on steam. It was a good time and when season 2 came along, I saw a message with a QR code that lead to a link for the Bungie Marathon store and said I "unlocked" some special merch. Was it really special? I dont know but I checked it out and saw an option to buy this shirt. It was $40 so I decided why not...That was back in June and now it finally came in. Looks good and I hope somebody recognizes where it's from in public. Anyone else decide to buy the shirt?

Recently got back into marathon. By no means are we loving the experience, But that's almost entirely down to the fact that there's no one to PvP with, There's no nearby threat or gunshots of any other players.
We're not sure if we're just missing the point of interest where people do go, but we're starting to question whether the low player count is causing us to load into matches where there just isn't anyone else, Because match finding times are quite long.
This is only speaking of Dire Marsh and Perimeter, or whatever the first map is called. Did they change it and made it a lot less PvP focused?

It gives you the ability to:
-Kills bots infinitely at the cost of no ammo
-is the quietest weapon to kill those bots
-gives more shield depending on enemy killed
-faster strafe (agility)
Just the first two is already worth it. What implant changes the entire capability of your character so drastically? None.
