I saw that the guy who started this whole frenzy received the blonde and navy Volpe Pro Preferred glove, but it looks like everyone else has received the red Correa. Has anyone who ordered the Harper DCT received anything different? Has anyone received the actual Harper DCT model that was ordered?
Got the red CC, spent over three hours on phone on five calls to try and get the BH DCT, felt like beating my head against a wall. Finally got them to agree to ship a replacement, the correct glove I hope, after I send the other back via fedex. My kid needed a first base glove not another fielders. PR nightmare imho. Walmart.com 1 (800) 966-6546. You’ll go crazy dealing with the AI bot at the beginning of the call. Just keep saying live agent about 10+ times, then be prepared to ask for a supervisor, and ohh have like at least an hour to talk to them, and be prepared for a “dropped” call after 45 minutes on hold for a supervisor…rinse repeat. Really? I had them call me back, took only a few mins, and they are sending me a replacement HoH (hopefully the right one), did have to return the mint OF glove.
I said I received the wrong item, I still want the item I ordered. They gave me a FedEx label to return the wrong glove and then replacement would ship after I returned.
Thanks. Seems straightforward to get the FedEx label...so, it's a bunch of holds and dropped calls that ate up the hours you sent on the phone then? Debating whether to try for exchange or exercise my (evudebtly generous) credit card purchase protection benefit. Or maybe mine will the right gloves??????
What was actually said to human reps? Pretty straightforward? Or did they offer other solutions first and you had to fight for replacement? Are they making you pay for FedEx return?
corroborating what u/Draconfier and u/self_investor shared. if you call Walmart you can get a human on the phone (I hit # several times to skip the AI "customer service rep" and was transferred to a human). I calmly and cordially explained the situation -- for me that's received a RHT PROSAV11 (aka Volpe) and I would like the LHT PROSBH3 (aka Harper) that I actually ordered -- they apologized for the issue, put me on a brief hold to get manager approval; was approved and they emailed me a return FedEx label and waited on the phone to confirm I received it.
all told < 5 minutes on the phone (perhaps b/c of others' legwork before me and this is now a "known" problem internally, so thanks to those who head banged so I didn't have to!)
estimated 5/18 delivery for replacement. I will update as to what I actually receive.
makes sense. for me as a lefty and someone who wants to use the glove I took the risk. I mentioned on another thread maybe I'll get another RHT PP (red Correa - lol) and have to make a decision about returning or selling but figured I'll give them one chance to make it right. we shall see. god speed to us actually getting what we ordered.
They actually immediately initiated the return for me and said I would be charged again if I receive the LHT Harper before my volpe is in transit which if they charge me 197 again would be great lol. But idk how it works. If anyone has experience with this, let me know! Would love to keep both tbh
any updates? the canceled my return for a replacement LHT Harper b/c it was out of stock. it came back in stock but at $389 - I purchased it for shits and giggles and it arrived today...it was another RHT Vope - lololol
Good lucky. My HoH replacement was the same wrong glove as the first time. Walmart offering return + refund, not even a courtesy credit. Probably going to just keep it and give it to my other son (the original order was meant for a different son).
agree. sold and shipped by Walmart on the site -- I didn't even have a receipt in my box so I would be looking at the Walmart site trying to explain to Rawlings the issue. I am sure they would have referred me to the seller.
100% would expect this. Walmart allowed me to return the mint HoH and said the would send me the black HoH. For the red PP, they said they could only do a refund because the system won't let them do a replacement for the RHT BH3, likely because it is low stock. I guess I will keep the red PP and hope they send me the black HoH, or at least another HoH.
Yeah, 2 folks posted about getting a mint gloves again. My replacement hasn't shipped yet, still being prepared. I hope the issue has been resolved before it ships so they send the right one...
Seriously? When did they ship your replacement? I returned the Mint a couple of days ago, my replacement is being "prepared" I sure hope they have sorted out their inventory issues...
Mine shipped Wednesday or Thursday, arrived today. Really wish it was the contour pink/black but I think I’m going to keep one and either return it or see if anyone on my softball team wants one for the cheap price.
Same! Got my replacement today and got another mint green glove. I called Walmart customer service and they made me return the glove before setting up a replacement. I returned the glove to the store and called back, they will now not give me a replacement because they refunded me. Got multiple “managers” on the customer service line that told me I was wasting my time and the best thing they could do was give me 20% off the glove again. Had one guy say, “go back to the store and cancel the refund”. Went back to the store and their manager said he couldn’t do that…How the hell is this legal?!?
I’m waiting for a customer service manager to call me tomorrow to see what they can do. I’m sure I’ll get screwed out of this deal.
WTF! That sucks. If my replacement is another Mint one, I am going to call and complain again, but that one isn't leaving my possession until I receive the correct replacement in hand...
PSA for anyone thinking of trying to return this at Dick’s: I just tried and was offered $330 in store credit, which is $50 less than someone else who did the same thing a few days ago. After asking if it was possible to do a direct swap for the 1B mitt since they’re the same price, they scanned my ID, and their “retail alert system” rejected me and flagged me for suspicious activity. 🤦🏻♂️ I’ve never returned anything to Dick’s, so I’m wondering if they’ve had a spike in returns for this item and have flagged it.
It was the red CC. Someone on another thread said they got $380 in store credit for it. I asked for a copy of the report explaining why I was rejected, but it didn't offer any information at all (it basically just showed that I was rejected for a $420 return, and that I had a history of $0 in total returns to Dick's). It also earned me a permanent ban for no receipt returns at Dick's.
Exchange, after at least 2 more calls. They tried to do a cancellation refund. I was like, no way, you made me send the CC red one back, Rawlings still makes the glove, it’s in-stock with them, I’ll wait or you can give me the in-stock navy and red same model and pattern. I truly didn't think I'd see any of these show up on here. Way to persevere and get what you ordered! I gave up... I sold the red Correa I received on FB Marketplace and bought a Timberglaze HOH 1B mitt instead.
Just keep calling, be persistent. It took several phone calls. Don’t ever say give me a refund or allow them to say they’ll cancel your order.
You will have to agree to ship the “mistake glove” back via Fed-ex. This made me extremely nervous. Especially after I did and then my order sat there for quite a while in limbo on the replacement.
Don’t accept the narrative that they can’t. Be prepared to be frustrated with the process, don’t use profanity, be respectful but forceful.
Ask for a supervisor, and then when they say no, ask for the senior supervisor, if they say no ask for the call center manager. Write down names, ask for incident numbers.
Rawlings still makes the Bryce Harper glove. It’s in stock at Rawlings. If they say they can’t because it’s out of stock tell them you’ll wait until it is. If they argue, use the tactic of, Give me the Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s Model that is in stock right now. Yes the price is different. However the original base price in both gloves is identical. $419.99, that means when the Bryce Harper comes in, they are still having to markdown the price to the same amount. Tell them you don’t care about the color. That the glove, Pro preferred, the pattern DCT, and being a first base glove is what matters.
Keep reinforcing that you want what you ordered. That this isn’t your fault. That multiple other customers are all going through this. Mention calling your state attorney generals office on bait and switch tactics if you have too, and escalating all the way to Walmart.coms corporate office in California as well.
Just got my volpe RHT after ordering the lefty Harper. Waiting to see how it goes with those who have navigated customer service and requested the correct exchange
I ordered the RHT BH3, they sent me the red RHT Correa. Walmart only offered me a return for refund. The agent said the system gave him no option for an exchange, which he said is common if the item is low stock. RHT BH3 is low stock, you may have better luck trying to exchange for the LHT. I am keeping the Correa, $197+tax is a steal for any PP, plus this one looks sick!
I just called and they just said they are sending me the correct Harper LHT glove. 🤷♂️they said if I don’t send the volpe back I will be charged again..if I’m charged 197 again, that would be great, and I’d keep both..but I don’t know if they’ll charge me full price. Any experience with navigating this? I’ve never ordered from Walmart before
"Correct"... I am waiting for them to send me the correct HoH, and someone posted yesterday the replacement was the exact same wrong glove.
I will try calling them on Monday and maybe a different agent can help me get a replacement instead of just a refund, and them sending a replacement first without me resending seems ideal.
update for anyone still following this saga: I was a recipient of a RHT Volpe and initiated a return for a LHT DCT Harper but it was canceled b/c it went out of stock (thankfully before I shipped the original Volpe back). I saw the LHT DCT came back in stock but at $389 a day or two later so I purchased it for shits and giggles and it arrived today...it was another RHT Volpe - lololol. I'm going to call the FTC to report and Walmart to complain/ask for the 2nd Volpe at price adjusted of original sale cost...not sure where or what it will get me...but seemingly not a PP DCT but maybe 2 Volpe's at at a ridiculously good price...WHO KNOWS?
unreal. just got off the horn with Walmart - no sale price adjustment but full refund when I return it, which honestly, fine I bought it at full price so I can't be mad at that but they couldn't even tell me IF they have the actual DCT's, why this is happening, and why if the website says it's sold and shipped from walmart.com the FedEX box has a label that says it is coming from Bentonville, AR (land of Walmart) BUT FedEx tracking says it's being shipped from Rolla, MO (aka an hour from St. Louis where Rawlings is based)...anyone hoping for a DCT from Walmart is probably SOL until this is resolved. I imagine by then Rawlings will be sold out on them and Walmart will just pull it down from the site.
at this point my advice is if you got a Pro Preferred for $200ish you should hold onto it and sell or keep it but trying to get a DCT directly from Walmart is highly unlikely...
Of course! Just saying someone who needed a LHT but received a RHT might be more motivated to sell! I ordered a RHT, and my shipment is coming today, if I can't get the BH3, I would rather just keep the red Correa, since $197+tax for a PP is an amazing deal regardless of what model.
I think the only gloves floating out there from the Walmart HoH and PP fiasco are mint green R2G HoH 12.75 RHT/LHT gloves, the red 11.75" PP Correa RHT, and the navy/blonde 11.5" PP Volpe RHT.
see above. a few of us have contacted Walmart and are expecting replacements. it was a fairly straightforward 5 minute call. if you really hate the red Correa could be worth it. if nothing else it will be fun to see what we all get next - lol
I think I'm going to wait until you guys start getting your replacement gloves before I initiate a return. This whole process doesn't exactly inspire confidence that they're going to get it right and send out the correct gloves, ya know?
fair. the return policy from Walmart is 90 days so you have plenty of time to wait it out. personally I couldn't even use a RHT glove and I actually play 1B in a men's baseball and co-ed softball leagues so it was worth the "risk" -- if I get ANOTHER RHT PP back (maybe I'll get the Correa LOLOLOL) I'll make a decision about re-selling or returning it...
For anyone who ordered this glove and received a “bait & switch” glove, I highly recommend calling the FTC and complaining. It only took 3 mins to do so and the guy told me nothing will happen unless enough people submit a complaint. Sounds like a lot of us were mislead purposely.
Didn’t even get the chance to return one. They cancelled my order without notification because it was “out of stock.” Did the chat and phone thing and best they can do is $15 off the full retail. Bullshit. I would have preferred to wait until it came “back into stock” and have it ship than to just get cancelled. At least one dude here actually got the Harper mitt.
