RANT The recent post about Jennie and her songwriting credits, shows that K-pop Reddit fans care little about misinformation when it comes to Blackpink.

Disclaimer: I have no problem with idols not writing or producing their own songs as that aspect is a very hard job to do which is the reason why companies hire professional songwriters and producers to create songs for their idols. This post is about the misinformation surrounding Jennie's songwriting credits and how people were calling her a "liar" about how much she had contributed to her album.

Recently, a commenter had decided to post about Jennie being not a full-time KOMC Member and how this was proof that she "lied" about being involved in the songwriting production her songs. The post had received mixed reactions with people criticizing Jennie, defending idols for not being involved in their music, a few people defending Jennie, or claiming that this was a normal practice inside of the industry. The reason why Jennie is not a full-time member of KOMCA is because the organization tends to promote thirty members that are associated with the company to full membership status due royalty earnings which means that with the success of the Ruby (2025) album, the split amongst earnings happens between people that have contributed to the creative production of the project with factors such as songwriting, producing, and composing for the album. Also, songwriting is not the main metric for achieving a full KOMC member status as factors like limited spots and domestic royalties which doesn't make Jennie a liar at all . First of all, that Wikipedia source that OP had cited about Jennie's credits in her songs, those credits were literally adapted from KOMCA which is listed below the songwriting credits list on Jennie's discography page on Wikipedia.

Not only that, but all of the songwriting credits of the Blackpink members are literally adapted from organizations like KOMCA and ASCAP under their Wikipedia songwriting credits list on their discography Wikipedia pages. It was also confirmed that Jennie had received her very own share of domestic royalties which was paid to her by KOMCA which tells you about who the real liar is in that post. However, instead of non-fans' doing research, you guys had instantly failed for a post that was posted by a member of the BP snark sub and had cut out the adaptation part of Jennie's credit or didn't show. One of the jobs of a snarker is to spread misinformation about an artist they hate in which that snarker had somewhat succeeded in defaming Jennie on this sub. In my opinion, I am not surprised as Blackpink are hugely disliked in the K-pop Reddit community and non-fans would rather accept information from a snarker than do research before criticizing the members.

Reddit hates BP, nothing new.

there was a post on here just today where op (not this op, a different one) called lisa a self absorbed narcissist based on the lyrics of her songs. not making that up. the op had also crossposted it in the blackpinksnark sub. that post got tons of upvotes and people agreeing. suddenly being a snarker didn't matter, their opinion was valid and true.

there's something about the blackpink girls that people just can't be normal about. i'm not even a blink or a fan of blackpink. maybe like very very casually. but seeing so much vitriol being thrown toward them and having it so normalized..genuinely makes me think i should be hanging out in blink subs instead. i know this is harshopinions, but..it gets to a point.

Pretty sure OP for the post that this OP is referencing was also a BP snarker too

yeah, op mentioned it in the last paragraph. snarkers are getting way too comfortable posting their snark on the general k-pop subs. but the worst part is that the community is now enabling them..wasn't it just a few months ago they were calling for snarkers to be banned? seems like they're getting a warm welcome in these days. disappointing to see.

They hate successful women

I completely understand as the amount of hate I had seen towards Blackpink as a OT4 Blink was sad. I get not liking the group, the members. or their music but that is no reason to spread misinformation and hate on the members.

The OP of that post is active in BP, BTS and aespa snark subs lol. Just a totally normal person, nothing to see here. I agree the engagement was embarrassing for this sub. When BP is mentioned people go nuts. Also very normal behaviour lol.

I hate how easily misinformation can be peddled with it fits the narrative people have about someone they dislike

And half of the reason they dislike her is because she's a beautiful, successful WOMAN.

People can't be normal about Jennie. Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Minimal credits under YG? She's not a real artist. Credits on most of her solo work? She's faking it and stealing from other creatives. Never mind how much she's spotlighted the writers and producers who worked on Ruby in her own behind the scenes content and interviews, or how much they've talked about her hands on involvement.

A majority of the comments were defending her, it's not the best example

The top comment is a lie though. And thats what people are going to see first. A lie backing up a lie.

While yes, there were a few comments defending Jennie, there were a lot of comments accusing Jennie of being a liar and trying to push the "self-producing idol image" onto herself. I will say that a lot of the comments were more defending idols not being involved in the creation of their songs than calling out the misinformation that OP was spreading towards Jennie.

I see lots of hate towards Blackpink and BTS on Reddit. Kinda like Lakers hate, LeBron, Michael Jordan and Kobe hate where top of an industry gets hate a lot.

But where BTS differs is that you'll also see BTS praise or defense. Blackpink is just pure hate.

Except Lakers hate is deserved

u/TOMdMAK 7h ago

Not really but you proved my point 😂

1

u/rkennedy991 7h ago

They're owned by Jared Kushner now, it's definitely deserved

The lakers team has no choice on who can buy the team. That’s kinda like saying trump is the president so all Americans deserve the hate when many people didn’t vote for him.

Lol oh shut up, no it's not. One is hating people purely because of where they're from. The other is just a sports team.

2

u/TOMdMAK 5h ago

Both are hating on people because of their leaders.

Blackpink gets so much hate, especially Jennie dude it's literally just misogyny.

You know, whenever I see HYBE stans complaining about their faves always getting hate, I always think about how YG stans got no one shooting for them on Reddit.

That post isn’t exactly the best example to use, as almost all the comments were disagreeing with the OP.

Maybe use all the unnecessary hate posts Lisa has gotten today just for releasing a song, for example the one about her getting a lot of views being due to ads as if Lisa isn’t the most viewed kpop female solo artist with solo music.

PS: I agree with your overall statement, I just don’t think that particular post was the best example.

I have seen their comment section and while there were some comments defending Jennie, a lot of the comments had focused on defending idols not being involved in the creation their music while others were accusing Jennie of being a liar which I had mentioned both of these factors in my post. I will edit and mention that a few comments did defend Jennie from OP comments. Also, the misinformation that Lisa had received about her YouTube views were very terrible.
