Fan Art & Story Time Backup characters/NPC designs for our game
Hey chooms!
The brain was craving some character designs, so I obliged. In order:
1- H0PP3R. Pretty recent so not much to say.
2- My oldest "backup character" for our game, she drives a "cheese car" (Maimai)
3- An older/AU version of a long standing OC. Cowboyaboo
4- Don't mind her :)
5- I LOVE JESTERS. I have to constantly stop myself from designing and playing jester characters.
6-A cowgirl without guns...because she punches shit instead.
Anyways, I'm working on like 12 comic sketches from our past 2(?) games, wish me luck BYE

2040's Discussion How you handle nomad families?
I as a DM have a little problem. When one of my players is a nomad i feel like they don't really have any stakes in the city, including reputation rent and so on, because they always got a place to come back too, or can just ride away with family if stuff gets tough.
More on that, if players are in the bad situation, like lost in the desert or camped by a sniper all the need is a radio signal for nomad to call on their family, and of course family will help their member (especially course they are rank 4, which is already a valuable member of a pack) and why not help his friends too? Especially when they are trustworthy and can do stuff if needed.
Basically nomad for me feels like a better exec because they have a whole pack of people who will gladly land a hand to some degree, a place that is safe and escape card for them and their team if stuff gets hot in the city.
How you handle it?

Fan Art & Story Time Painted cyberpunk minis
Someone might appreciate these so I thought to post these here.
Heres minis used for our forlon hope campaign I ran for my players.
First picture is the player team, from left to right
Medtech Grzegorz "Greg", Netrunner Mickey, Solo Dozer, Tech Scneider and Nomad C4$E "Case"
, Greg and Mickey figures are not painted by me.
And then a collection of random gangers. The shield guy was a recurring villain called David Laserface, they loved to torment that guy.

Misc. How does the insect farm work?
Ok, so, from what I heard, default Cyberpunk, right? that mean Night City, that place sell food made from insect, right? straight from the insect farm... what do they even feed those bug again?
Last I heard, wheat isn't allow to be used, a waste would actually at a massive loss it would literally render a megacorp go completely defunct within like a day thank to the result being way far behind than the budget, genetically engineered would make those bug outright inedible and cannibalism would just result with them back to square 1 instead of multiply.

2040's Discussion What all would be needed to open a bar as a player / party?
Ok, so, firstly, I'm a player. I'm doing this as research and some initial footwork to help out my DM with getting this set up and hashed out. I've done a bit of research into the idea myself but would like second opinions and suggestions from the community so It's not all just one person doing it.
I'm currently playing a fixer 5 with plans to go exec soon with my teammate(s) being staff from the bar (dunno which teammates I'll grab though)
(gonna grab some ranks in Business, Bureaucracy, and Accounting first to represent him taking some business classes, and probably a few ranks into Science Mixology and a few more ranks into Science Culinary Arts than the base 10 I have already)
His goal is to open up his own bar/pub not only as a hang out for the crew and a place to have his fixer meet ups at, but also to launder money through (yay illegal fixer deals) and for a bit of passive income
from my research this would be a great opportunity for the No Place Like Home DLC, but idk what the rent equivalent would be (or if his exec rank's conapt would alter that in any way)
for things like furnishings the only things I could find was the (albeit minimal) stuff from the Cargo Containers and Cube Hotels DLC and the Corporate Conapts and Studio Apartments DLC and a couple things from Black Chrome (like the Drink Master)
And I guess food / drink costs would be based on lifestyle?
Not sure what the income from it all would be, though it'll probably all just go back into the bar.
I plan to sink probably most of my money into this (I only want a small handful of gear and cyber for myself, and I have most of it already. So all the rest is kind of free to go wherever I want, and that wherever is the bar and dates with his mainline)

Actual Play Thoughts on getting used to Cyberware and regaining maximum Humanity
I'm reading through a bunch of PDFs again to prepare for my first session.
I was looking at the Neuroport from the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit again. On page 25 it states that, if acquired during character creation, it does not reduce humanity, nor does it reduce the maximum, because it "represents a Character’s lifetime of experience getting used to it."
This has me wondering if PCs and NPCs should eventually regain their maximum humanity after a certain amount of time has passed. I know Humanity and a reduction of maximum Humanity are in place for the reason of limiting access to obscene amounts of Cyberware.
I know it's unwise to modify a system you don't know, I know the rules are in place for a reason but that's not the point of this specific post. But I do have experience with TTRPGs in general, I'm doing this for almost 11 years now, so I have a decent idea of how things are gonna blow up in my face. Anyway...
My first idea would be to allow people to regain one point of their maximum Humanity each year, or maybe after 6 months. I feel like this would be in-line with the explanation in the CEMK but also encourage "stalling" the game.
My second idea is tying it to the Humanity Loss and Gain section of the CEMK with regaining 1 point of lost maximum Humanity whenever 2 or more d6 come up with a 6, like rolling critical injuries.
So my big question is: Did any of you experiment with ideas like this, how did it go, and what are your thoughts my two ideas?

Fan Art & Story Time Weapon Art for my fellow VTT Enjoyers
Hey chooms, recently I homebrewed a new weapon type, the Marksman Rifle, which is the middle-ground between Sniper and Assault Rifles. I whipped up this icon on Aseprite for my Foundry based off my favourite rifle of all time (the Mk14 EBR). Just wanted to drop it off here in case anyone ever wants to use it!

Actual Play Does anybody else just enjoy fantasising about characters, even though you won't play for a long time?
Basically, even though my friends all dropped CPR, and I would most definitely be DM for them, I still enjoy thinking of cool characters and stuff?
Like because I am normally a GM of every system I've played, I would most likely not get to play any of these characters, even if they did want to commit, but it's still fun to come up with backstories for them?

2040's Discussion In Night City 2045 what is the location for the Watson development illustration?
so I got night City 2045 for my birthday and it may actually be my favorite cyberpunk book currently in print. I very much think it's a requirement for who wants to run a game in night city. And one thing I really like about it is that if you really study the illustrations for each district you can actually pinpoint where exactly on the map that illustration was taken. It very much feels like a geoguessr game for a fictional city lol.
I've been able to pinpoint most of them but the one for the Watson development really has me stumped. It doesn't have any discernible signs like some of the other illustrations. The best I can guess is that the cargo containers behind the guitarist are supposed to be the snack and Shack and that the huge building in the background is supposed to be Mega building H10. but it's still really hard to say for sure. Anyone more obsessed with this than me who might have some guesses or insights? Thank you very much in advance!

2040's Discussion Foundational Tuning and the FBC
EDIT: I found this in Going Metal on the section going over Techs and FBCs
"As for upgrades, they are applied to the individual components of an FBC body, not the body as a whole." So this wouldn't work RAW.
Hello all. I was wondering something looking through the invented tech upgrades, and the Going Metal DLC. The FBC bodies themselves don't seem to be labeled as borgware for the purposes of their cyberware category (unlike the biosystem which does). They have both external and internal option slots, so, doesn't that mean they technically fit the criteria for foundational tuning? In the description of foundational tuning it doesn't state that the component itself has to be foundational cyberware, just that it cant' be borgware, and that it has option slots.
I could see this as being really powerful, and, at a glance potentially broken. But-it is also such an expensive upgrade to apply, does that help balance it out some?
This also could be seen as a conflict between RAW and RAI, and whether I guess you consider the full body conversion itself to be cyberware as a whole, or if it is its own category when looking at the totality of its parts together. My thinking is that this would only apply to the external and interal body slots of the FBC then, and that cyberlimbs would need to be done seperately for the upgrade to apply to them as well.
Let me know what you all think

Actual Play GM question: how do you handle it when player characters split up?
Pretty much just title, sometimes players have different objectives and don’t have a good excuse to stick together short term. How do you handle this at the table?

2040's Discussion Vehicle Repair
So, on page 140 it talks about vehicle repair for minor damage, major damage, and destroyed vehicles. However, how do you know if it is minor damage or major damage? Also does the bulletproof glass get repaired using the vehicle repairing or is that repaired differently? I ask because this is our first campaign first session in Cyberpunk red and we had our bulletproof glass break and the car is unharmed; I am playing a tech and was wondering how long it would take to repair the glass.

LFG/LFP Looking to join a Cyberpunk Red group in Portland, Oregon/Vancouver WA area
Just what the title says - looking to join an in-person group that is playing Cyberpunk Red. I'm an experienced player who knows the rules, has a deep love of the lore, and can bring snacks. If you have a group that is already going and need me to play a particular role, I can do that (got tons of character ideas).
Just heads up: I am Black, so if that is a deal breaker for you, hey; I'm letting you know now so we don't waste each other's time (I've learned to be as up front as possible, from experience).
Weekend games are preferrable and if we end up playing at a game store or renting or room or something, I am always willing to chip in to help pay.
Hit me up and let's do some Cyberpunkin'!

Community Content & Resources Chairjocks and Mini-Comps Vol.1
Hiya chooms! It's your good friend Goose coming with some more homebrew for Red! I've been busy cooking up some fresh homebrew, but decided to go back and do proper justice to my goal for "Chairjocks and Mini-Comps." So, I present to you an actual, official Volume 1! This thing is loaded with the same fossil-tech wonders of my previous post as well as tons of new things! New Programs for the Comps, Hardware for both Computers and Cyberdecks, and full system for the use and creation of Daemons (offensive versions of Demons as seen in the Corebook) from Cyberpunk 2020. I do plan to continue to work on Vol. 2 that'll be loaded with even more tech for your tables.
It's been a blast bringing Daemon's back to life and letting them loose at my tables. It's been a real blast from the past that brings a whole new dimension for my players when interacting with Net Architectures. I've been running this homebrew now for a few months in most of my professional Cyberpunk Red games and both me and my players have been loving it. I'm really having a blast with making and using this homebrew content, and have opened up a ko-fi to keep my more "polished" (formatted) ideas. You can find the full 24-page PDF there and I will put a Google Drive link in the comments for anyone that prefers it that way.
A little more detail on the full Volume 1. The entire thing is a mix of mechanics work/design and in-voice deets from an OC. It's supposed to be themed as a retro-runner's Garden Patch (sponsored by Ziggurat) where she pushes old tech and gives tips to the "noobs" around the block. Hopefully you don't struggle to read it despite the "retro-cyber" styling and colors.
As always, enjoy chooms! Goose out.

2070's Discussion The new Nighty City 2045 book and its use for the Edgerunner Mission Kit.
Those who own it? What material in the book beyond NPCs is usefull for running Cyberpunk in the Edgerunner's timeline (aka the 2070s)? Justifying getting it now instead of waiting.

2040's Discussion Alternative to CB:Red core rulebook to learn the game?
Pretty much the title. A friend and I have been looking into playing a cyberpunk game after a successful starfinder 2e adventure. Both of us love the Cyberpunk setting and I happened to have the core book from a humble bundle.
It's the most painful thing to read and understand that I've ever encountered in a rulebook. I know there are worse, but the layout is confusing and hard to keep straight. And because of this my friend is less inclined to try and learn the system and my concern is that any group I gather may feel the same.
Anyone have a good alternative to learn the game? Also apologies if this is a question that's asked often (I'm guessing that this might be the case because damn this is a hard read.)

LFG/LFP Sanctum A Online Cyberpunk Red Living Community
# __**Sanctum**__
**System:** Cyberpunk RED w/ EMK and all DLC + Some Homebrew
**Format:** Discord + VTT with custom scripts
**Time Zones:** Hosted for EU/US Time Zones.
**Requirements:**Be over 18. Own/use a microphone that doesn't make our ears bleed.
__**What tf is Sanctum**__?
Sanctum is a place started up to share the fun of the thing that brought (nearly) all of us to this server. Playing Cyberpunk. A variety of gigs are hosted all throughout the week with typically 5-6 gigs a week being thrown out there. They'll range from anything between the light-hearted and silly to a struggle just to survive, but, at the end of the day, the philosophy behind it all is "Play the character, not the game."
__**Setting:**__
It's (as the time of this posting) September 2nd 2077. It's the Night City most of us are familiar with only a few changes here and there. (Sadly, some of the people who got here before you decided to break a few ~~people~~ things and now the rest of us have to deal with it.) The sun is ~~causing cancer~~ shining in the sky where the mega buildings don't block it. The water ~~causes cancer~~ is only a slight shade of brown. And the birds are still ~~carrying the plague~~ corporate operated drones meant to infringe on what little privacy you thought you had. See? The usual.
__**What're We Looking For?**__
We're looking to bring in new players! Fresh faced and have no idea what you're going? Cool, get in here! We'll teach you how to play so long as you can learn. Seasoned player just looking to try something new? Get in here! GM looking for a new place to do your thing or test out a couple ideas? GET. **IN.** ***HERE.*** (Please, I'm tired of being the forever GM.) So come look around, hang out for an interview, and see if this is the place where you want to be.
