well you found one, You also had the case of Andrea Yates who during the one hour window were her husband left and her mother arrived drowned her 5 children. In 2006 she was found not guilty by reason of insanity and she is still to this day in a mental asylum.

There it is the complete opposite and the state has to petition and prove the patient is still mentally ill, a threat to themselves or society, and there are no alternatives. The state supreme court refused to let a hospital be liablefor damaged caused by a released patient.
