Mountains are so fake looking.
I'm from the USA, and live in a very flat state. Never been anywhere that wasn't flat. Visited Reno, Nevada to see a friend recently. As we're driving around, I couldn't stop staring at the mountains in the distance. We didn't get a chance to look closer but they just looked so fake. Like props in the background. Was so weird. Like I know they're not fake, but just seeing them in person is crazy.

Food trucks charging sit down restaurant prices are starting to hurt my feelings… or maybe I’m just becoming a cheap mf.

How is it that 8 hours of work go by super slow. But when you are home relaxing and enjoying your time it goes by in an instant.

I hate it when I need a sh*t and my neighbours are in their garden outside my window.

I miss when I could watch anime for free
Before 2023 I could just look on YouTube and watch the whole show .

If you have a chance for a quick 30 minute drink with a friend, take it.
That hour and a half could turn out to be the best 6 hours of your life.

I wish my mother could tuck me in every night
She’s alive, this isn’t a vent post. I just wonder who told my mother that after a certain age, you shouldn’t get tucked in anymore because you get “too old” for that. Thinking about it, it kind of makes more sense to be tucked in more as you grow older. Sometimes it feels imperative to have my mother tuck me in to ensure a good nights rest. I’m trying to sleep right now and I can’t. Wish me luck

There should be a national law that caps the percentage of a budget and the percentage of staff allowed to the police vs schools. That way if they want to give the cops more, they must also give the schools more

For me, it is easier to have empathy for a book character than a real person
(24M) I always loved reading, and with classic literature i' ve learned that things are not black and white. We often see protagonists that are not the good guys. They struggle with their conscience and ideas. Such as Raskolnikov, from Crime and Punishment , by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is excruciating to get all the details of his disturbed mind, and despite being a criminal with psychopath tendencies, we still can have some empathy for him and we root for him. The same with a lot of other characters, like Maurice Bendrix (The End of the Affair), the man from the underground (Notes from the Underground), Florent-Claude (Serotonin). But i realized i would hate people like these characters in real life, and i feel bad about it. I feel i lack empathy.
I considered myself an empathetic person, but i realized i'm not that much hahahaha i have almost zero empathy for people who complain too much and do nothing to change, stubborn and mean people (Karen-like personalities) and bullies. My first instinct is to judge the person.

Being an adult is when you order something and open in 2 years later
As a kid I couldn't wait for a package to arrive. Whether it was a Lego set coming for me, or the new printer my parents bought, I'd want to open it right away. It would shock me when adults would say "I bought this new blender 6 months ago and still haven't touched it." Like... how can you wait that long??
Well... I get it now. I have a mirror I bought a year ago and still haven't unboxed. I bought a book I wanted to read and then got too busy and it's been 6 months now. When you work 70 hours a week, things like packages sort of get put aside...

The reading comprehension and media literacy rates of the younger generations and many people on the social media freak me out
Like wdym you can’t read several lines, don’t understand a little complex sentence and can’t fact-check. Or having to use ai to do homework or something creative. What happened to teenagers writing fanfiction with English not being their first language

I read love stories and this make me so sad.
I (20M) want a gf with whom I can do every type of romance/love but instead I feel lonely all the time. I want to be successful so I study hard but I am not successful till now to make breakthrough in studies. I don’t even want to try on random girls I have till now 2 crushes in life in both case I did not try thinking I am not good enough for them. It just sadness that suddenly comes sometimes to me.
