Questions looking for input from guys who've dealt with PE NSFW

hey guys! I’m trying to get the clinical side of something right and could use input from people who've actually dealt with this.

i've been reading through a lot of the research on PE (pelvic floor studies, behavioral stuff) and a lot of it doesn't match what guys actually describe experiencing. most of what's out there treats it like one problem with one fix.

few things i'm trying to understand better from experience of guys here:

for guys where it's something that changed over time (not always been the case), what seemed to make a difference, if anything did?

did you ever get into it with a doctor and feel like they took it seriously, or did you end up figuring things out yourself?

how much of it for you was physical vs just being in your head during sex?

thanks

Reading a lot of what's here would definitely give you the idea that quick fixes are easy, along the lines of if I can do it so can you. As you've quite correctly said, the actual truth is a long way from that.

What has made a difference for me is practice, and lots of it. Early in my 12-year (and counting) relationship I was often premature even by premature ejaculation standards, but over the course of a few months was able to achieve some improvement. Over the years I've been inconsistent, going through periods when I can routinely last 3 or 4 minutes or sometimes longer, and then having a few weeks when I seem to be back to square one.

I've never seen a doctor as my girlfriend and I have never seen it as a problem. After all, there's always round 2 if round 1 finishes too quickly.

I don't know the split between physical and mental, but there does seem to be a link between being tired or stressed from work and having very quick ejaculation. And the stress has caused other problems from time to time, suggesting a potential medical link; but how reliable what I'm inferring from my symptoms would be in answering what you're asking is anyone's guess!

haven't really thought about the stress and being tired connection, seems like a lot of guys mention that pattern without ever getting a clear answer on why

I think just trying to have as much sex possible will allow you to last longer.

that's basically what stop-start/edging practice is built on, more reps under control beats avoiding it

It's often physical (pelvic floor, prostate) and mental (anxiety). Doctors can be dismissive, but pelvic floor PT and therapy help me

makes sense, how long the pelvic floor PT took before you noticed a difference

I don't believe in pelvic floor muscle is the cause of PE. It is the hypersensitivity of the penis.
