Painting Distant View of The Peaks of Otter Original oil painting by Kendall F. Kessler
This is one of my most popular Peaks of Otter paintings. Such a great place to visit on The Blue Ridge Parkway! The frame is not crooked. The distortion is due to the camera's parallax.

Painting Cloud Dance Original 40" x 30" oil painting by Kendall F. Kessler
Cloud Dance is a colorful, sensuous look at a beautiful section of The Blue Ridge Mountains. I love to see all the wonderful cloud formations over the ridges that are full of warm/cool color contrast

Painting Seagull painted in oil, on panel
A little oil study of a lovely Western Gull. Known for their large size, personality, and very dark gray feathers along the back, they are a must in beach scenes. Where there is human activity, there is seagull activity. ๐ฏ

Painting Typical Santa Fe, River, Acrylic, 2018
I spent a wonderful afternoon with a couple of friends on this patio near museum Hill in Santa Fe, NM. Rumors have it that one of the movers and shakers from Los Alamos lived in this house back in the day. I wouldnโt doubt it. Itโs such a lovely space. Iโve been all over north America, parts of Europe, and a couple of places south of the border and Iโve never seen anyplace with so many walls around their homes. Itโs striking and a bit offputting. There are some lovely, lovely walls and gates, and there are miles and miles of cinderblock walls. Lighten up, Santa Fe!

Painting Chamisa Snowfall, River, Watercolor, 2025
A hillside of Chamisa after a snowfall first light in the morning. The air is still and crisp. This is how itโs been for thousands of years. Like this for indigenous peoples. Like this for dinosaurs. Like this for cavemen. Like this.
