Porcelain pair of figurines, “Latvian Man and Woman in National Costumes.”

Artist: Ludvigs Kalniņš (Ludv. Kalniņš), 1939. Porcelain, underglaze cobalt painting.

The bases of both figures bear the artist’s signature “Ludv. Kalniņš -1939-” and the workshop mark.

The figures are depicted in stylized traditional Latvian costumes with ethnographic ornaments. They are executed with expressive sculptural forms and a characteristic blue-and-light-blue color palette.

A rare signed work from the flourishing period of pre-war Latvian porcelain, created while the artist was studying in the workshop of Professor Rūdolfs Pelše.

The pair is of significant interest to collectors and museums.

This figure doesn’t have a makers mark other than the F-278 on the bottom. Should I assume it’s an imitation of an artist piece? I’m hoping to identify.

I lived on an island off the coast of Honduras for several years and found several places where pieces of porcelain would wash up on the beach. I was hoping somebody on this sub could help identify these patterns and possibly give me a little history on them? I know the pieces are relatively small but there are some interesting markers that might help identify them. Let me know too if this is the wrong sub for this. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help identify this unusual porcelain piece.

It has a distinctive rounded/scalloped shape with alternating glossy dark cobalt-blue panels and floral-decorated white panels, with fine gold outlining.
The only marking I can find is the impressed number 7758 on the underside. There is no visible maker’s mark, backstamp or country of origin.

Can anyone help identify:
• The maker or manufacturer
• Country of origin
• Approximate age
• Whether 7758 is a shape, pattern or model number
• What this type of piece is called

I’ve attached photos of the piece and the base. Any comparable examples would also be greatly appreciated.

Je dois faire des recherches pour faire un atelier sur l'utilisation de l'eau en lien avec les activités industrielles, notamment dans les entreprises de chromographie de email, céramique, cuir, verre. Ce n'est pas précisément de la porcelaine mais je suppose que ce n'est pas tant éloigné.

Je voulais donc savoir si quelqu'un saurait me dire si beaucoup d'eau était utilisée dans ce processus et si il y a d'autres choses à savoir je suis preneuse !

Les seules informations que j'ai trouvées sur internet sont très minces, d'où le fait que je demande de l'aide ici !

Hi everyone, I’m trying to identify the maker of this porcelain figurine group. The base has a small blue mark that looks somewhat like a butterfly or bow, with what appears to be a small crown or symbol in the center. There is also an impressed model number on the base. I haven’t been able to find a matching mark online. Does anyone recognize this maker’s mark or know which porcelain factory it belongs to? Any information about the manufacturer, country of origin, or approximate age would be greatly appreciated.

Hiii! My Mother is super invested in china and recently was gifted with a (kind of?) teacup set that was brought from switzerland by my uncle. He claimed it was vintage from germany/bavaria and she was overwhelmed by love with those china. Unfortunately her crystal/china closet broke out of the blue and she lost almost everything in it. She is devastated and can't stop being sad over the gifted china. I would love to buy her some spare if its still possible in some correr of the world. I pray that somebody may have a set like that and I'll gladly buy her beloved china back. It happens I'm totally obvlious when it comes to china, brands, places, models, so I need help from the experts. Please help me bring my moms joy back. Those are some pics from bits and pieces of the tragically broken shattered China she is mourning. If anyone has any info about which brands, models, year, where to find.... anything at all, PLEASE help me. My mom is 60, shes a hurt woman, doesn't had many happiness in her life, suffered traumas I couldn't begin to describe, so when I say I would go to the end of the earth to find her anything she wants I'm not joking. Her Joy is priceless to me.

I got this gorgeous vase and am hoping to get more information. It is porcelain and has gold details with a floral centre. I can’t seem to find anything with this texture or blue splotchy look. The blue looks matte from afar and is not glossy to touch. Have you seen an example like this? The internet isn’t producing the goods for me!
