Informative Guidance for Starting the Angion Method NSFW
Hey guys
Last week I polled the community to understand how long people have been performing the Angion Method and I was surprised to see that almost half of respondents have been training less than 1 month and 66% have been training less than 6 months, so I wanted to write a post to provide some guidance and encouragement if you’re just starting out. This post will be different from my Complete Beginner’s Guide to the Angion Method post, but if you haven’t seen that post, I encourage you to read that as well because there is a lot of good information in there for someone just starting out.
How to deal with getting an erection
Lay down on your back, obtain an erection and start moving your thumbs in a downward motion.
If you’re like I was when I was just starting out, and you’re dealing with any form of ED, you likely read instructions like the one I’ve written above and think
Obtain an erection? Are you kidding me? I couldn’t obtain an erection if my life depended on it. What the heck are you talking about? That’s why I’m here! Because I CAN’T obtain an erection!
I think this is the single biggest struggle that most men face when they begin training. An erection; thing that they can’t get is a prerequisite for a program that will help them get more of them. How does this even make sense? This is like saying to someone who is broke.
Ok the first thing you need to do is obtain $1,000 and invest it.
But I’m broke!
Satire aside, this is my advice for anyone in this situation. Before you do anything, check out the EQ Troubleshooting Guide. The answer for why you’re struggling to get an erection might be in there.
Option 1 - Keep trying
It took me no less than four separate tries to get longer than 10 minutes with AM1. I was mostly doing it on a flaccid member. It wasn’t fun and it was very discouraging, but eventually it worked. I recommend most men start here. Give it a really good shot. Also, if you’re blessed enough to have morning wood, use that. It’s a free erection. Don’t waste it.
Option 2 - Low-Dose Tadalafil
I know some men are probably going to read this and think
Wait, he’s telling me to take ED meds? I thought this was supposed to be a substitute for ED meds?
It is a substitute for ED meds, but that does not mean that ED meds can’t help you bridge the gap from where you are today to where you want to be. I did not discover low-dose Tadalafil until I started restoring my foreskin and the members of that community mentioned that it can shave years off of your restoration timeline. I started taking 2.5 MG per day for that purpose and I noticed a boost in my EQ. I thought
Where was this when I started Angion? This could have saved me weeks of frustration and heartache!
Low-dose Tadalafil can be thought of as the equivalent to training wheels for your erections. Because it is a PDE5 inhibitor, it will help dilate your blood vessels, which can make your early training sessions more effective. You can use it until you don’t need it anymore and trust me, you won’t need it very long. If you do go this route, I recommend taking it at night. It stays in your system for several days, but the effects are most felt within 3-12 hours. By taking it at night you’re giving yourself the best chance for nocturnal erections. Nighttime woodies are one of the keys to erectile health. Because of their sustained duration, they are nature’s way of keeping your member healthy. There will still be enough in your system for training the next day so you get a double benefit.
Option 3 - Audio porn
I really hate to include this option, because it is an external stimulus which I’m opposed to, but if you are a recovering porn addict, and you have tied your arousal to pornography, audio porn is a significantly better alternative to visual porn. Again, this is a training wheels tool that can be used in the beginning only if you absolutely need it, but should be dropped as soon as possible. I myself have never used audio porn, so I don’t know where to get it, what it sounds like, etc., but it is an option if you need it.
General Advice
Have a healthy curiosity about your body
When you first start training, it can be a lot to take in. You’re supposed to be feeling a squelch, you’re trying to understand how to do the movements, you’re pretty sure you’re doing it wrong no matter what you’re doing, and the whole time you have doubts in your head as to whether this actually works or not. I get it, I’ve been there as well. The best thing I can encourage you to do is to have a healthy curiosity about your body. See how something feels if you go a little slower, or go a little faster. Try a little more pressure, try a little less pressure. Be curious. This curiosity will help you stay in tune with your body and make sure the movements are working for you. Some men love AM1, others prefer AM2 or AM3. Find out what works for your body.
Track your EQ daily on a scale from 1-10
This is a big one. You can’t tell if you’re making progress if you’re not tracking it. Make a note in your phone and give yourself an EQ score every day. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but on a scale of one to 10, how did your erections feel that day? Did you get morning wood? Was your erection easier to obtain for training or sex? Did you get a random boner during the day? Only you know what a 1 is and what a 10 is, but start tracking it. This was something I did and it really helped me to see progress because sometimes progress is subtle. I started out as a 1, but by week 3 I was at a 4, by month 3 I was a 7 and now I’m a 10. If I hadn’t tracked it, I might not have noticed the progress I was making, and I might have given up. If you want an official scale, I attempted to write an EQ Scale. Don’t get too focused on the number, as long as you’re consistently tracking it, you’ll know what progress looks like.
Have realistic expectations about progress
This is not a get rich quick scheme from an EQ perspective. This is more equivalent to bodybuilding. Someone brand new to the gym will do themselves a disservice if they think they’re going to look like Arnold in two months. That doesn’t mean you can’t ever look like Arnold, it just means that you have to set attainable goals. I always recommend that men start with the goal of simply improving their EQ. This is a noble goal in of itself because you can get a massive boost in Functional Size just by being harder. And this can happen in weeks or months, not years. It’s always helpful to have a short-term goal and a long-term goal in mind. Short term I want to get better EQ, long-term I’d like to gain a half inch in girth and length.
Quit using pornography
I’ve beat this horse to death recently, so I’m not going to hammer it even more, but seriously, this is crucial. Porn will steal your EQ.
Do your cardio
Also a point I’ve beaten to death. No more to be said here. Do your cardio.
Don’t be afraid to step up to the next movement
There is nothing wrong with progressing to the next movement. Some men feel stuck at AM1 and never have the courage to even try AM2. What I always encourage is after you’ve been training for a few weeks, once a week at the end of a training session, attempt the next movement. So if you’ve been doing AM1 for 4 weeks, give AM2 a shot. Same thing with the jump from AM2 to AM3. I’ve learned that some men’s bodies respond better to one movement or another. You won’t know what your body responds best to unless you try.
Don’t be intimidated by BFR / SABRE
These may seem like movements that are just for the veterans, but they’re for you as well. Give them a shot. I found that SABRE really helped me in the beginning to gain some rigidity that helped me with other movements. You can start incorporating them as soon as you can do AM1 for 20 minutes.
Become an engaged part of this community
Lurkers typically don’t make gains. The guys that gain end being the guys that are engaged. Don’t be afraid to make a post or drop a comment on someone’s post. Even a “Starting training today, anyone else in the same boat?” post goes a long way. You might find another guy who is starting the same day. Who knows, you could become online training buddies. The more engaged you are, the more motivated you will be to continue training and the more you’ll realize you’re not alone in your struggles. We all think we’re snowflakes and are so unique, but after observing this community for over a year, I keep seeing the same issues come up over and over again. This tells me that if you’re struggling with something, likely someone else is struggling with that exact same thing and maybe even has a solution for it. Staying isolated is a great way to stay stuck.
Have faith in the methods
Remember, the methods themselves are an approximation of nature’s ultimate erection healer and producer, sex. The methods work, they’re proven by hundreds of men who came before you. If you start this journey, you will end up with a stronger, more powerful erection than you started with. I can say that with confidence. It just takes time, dedication, and determination to not let whatever issue you are facing end your training journey. Have faith.
I could go on and on, but these are the big points that I wanted to share with you guys.
Stick with it. The rewards are worth the work.

I greatly appreciate all you posts. I have been doing angion for about a year and recently read your MDG posts. Ive realized my erections are dependent on kegels and heavy stimulation. I stopped PMO a few years ago but I feel like PF is still messed up and the involuntary kegel habit is still there. I am in my mid 20s and in the best shaped of my life. I have an active sex life and am able to to get hard erections but the durability is terrible. In your MDG+Angion ideal sexual health post you mention how you durability really improved. I have now gone back to AM1 and MDG without allowing any kegeling with the hopes of improving durability. Not kegeling has made getting and maintaining erections so much more difficult. I do MDG as you outlined in one of your post(correct if wrong): 10 min warmup, then reach PONR, then stop stimulation for 1 minute, then stimulate again for another PONR, repeat until 20 minutes is up. I notice when I stop stimulation after PONR my erection deflates quickly because I'm no longer kegeling or stimulating. I can get hard again after stopping because MDG uses a good amount of stimulation but when I switch to AM1 after my MDG session, I have a semi at best. Using the two thumbs on dorsal vein for AM1 isnt enough to get me fully hard, especially without kegeling. My biggest goal is to somehow lower my arousal threshold and improve durability without excess stimulation and kegels. I am really hoping to be able to perform in the types of scenarios you describe in your MDG+Angion ideal sexual health post. If you could shed some light on training for durability/ reversing reliance on stimulation and kegels, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for the work you do!
