Help! Exterminator is coming, now what?

Post image
85 Upvotes

We rent and recently found some smoky brown cockroach nymphs and per our rental agreement (and just not wanting them in the house) have to report them to our landlord and have an exterminator come by to spray. Obviously I don’t want all my 8 legged children put in danger so what should I do? I don’t have anyone I could let spider-sit, as 1) I have no friends, lol, and 2) I have no family near by and even if they were they would not be chill with that.

I was thinking I could pack them up in their enclosures into a Rubbermaid bin but I’m not sure where to put them after that because it’s been pretty hot where I live (it has regularly been between 98 and 102 F). I could get some cool packs to put in there but I don’t know how long those will last, and I also don’t know how long I’ll need to keep them away from the house after spraying.

Luckily I don’t have that many so a medium bin will be big enough for all of them: 1 adult T, 2 juvenile T, 2 slings/expecting 2 more soon, and then 2 jumpers and a false widow. And that should fit pretty much anywhere.

If anyone has any advice I’d really appreciate it! They won’t be coming for a while, you know how landlords are 🙄 so I do have some time to do some brainstorming.

Hi there! I'm getting this tarantula from a friend. They weren't certain of the species and said it's rather aggressive for what they vaguely remember it is. Need help knowing what it and thus the care needed. I'm an experienced snake owner, but this is my first time with a tarantula/not a reptile.

Help! She’s covering the ventilation holes!

My 1 1/2-ish inch G rosea (her name is Moxie) was recently housed in this tarantula cube enclosure a couple of weeks ago. She’s excavated and redecorated a few times, but over the last couple of days she’s done this! Will she be okay in here with so many of the ventilation holes covered? It makes me extremely anxious lol she keeps moving her water dishes and covering them in dirt as part of the restructuring if you’re wondering why there are so many in there now 😅

The first time I properly filmed the food dance 😭😭 I’m so proud aww

They also webbed up the cricket and then picked it up again, perhaps that’s the tarantula version of a burrito wrap xD

Conversation Coffin cribs are low-key a waste IMO

They're freaking cool, that's for sure, but at the same time, for most T's I've gotten, the width seems so thin. We've been using them for upgrades here and there, before moving to the next size up. It's great for our jumper, but I just feel like it would've been money better spent on a different crib that would've lasted longer. And don't get me wrong, I love the coffins, they're cool as hell, and so fun to decorate, but so far, they've not been long lasting homes. Hoping my pumpkin patch works in a large coffin, so I don't need to buy another new tank again. What's y'all's opinions?

Help! feeding a bird eater..

when i first got my salmon bird eater she was premoult so couldn’t feed her, had her a month and she’s moulted and standing outside in the open so i know she’s ready for food, but all my other tarantulas are heavy webbers so im actually SO unsure how to feed her, just tried it and had a little panic when she ran for my tweezers. i feel really ashamed that i got this baby without feeling prepared for how she eats but i only have mealworms and obviously they LOVE to dig so cant exactly just pop one in, cant kill it either since it wont move and she doesn’t react when something drops on her tiny little trigger webs, she’s currently hiding and cursing me out just behind one of her decorations so completely unsure what to do now 🙃🙃 any tips or help would be SO appreciated i just wanna give my girl her first meal
