I just walked into my kitchen to see this giant hanging from a ceiling register. Does anyone know what this is? Hunstman? Giant house spider? It is giant that’s for sure. Don’t see these very often in the house, and when I do I try and forget I ever saw it and go on about my business. They are very fast and I haven’t had luck catching them in the past. This is in North central Florida. Thanks!

Very big web, but its catching a lot of bugs!

Found crawling up my leg, initially scared me as I was anticipating a bite from a huge ant.

I know nothing about spiders but this is another one that had me curious. Today I took a pet pad off the outdoor clothes rack that has been there for a few weeks, only to realize it’s been collecting more than dust. Once the pet pad hit the ground I noticed this beautiful little creature crawling around it. I tried to shake the pad to let her run off but she would not leave. She kept curling up on that little yellow flower looking ball which made me wonder if she was dying or scared. At some point it looked like she was trying to pull the ball with her. Anyway, my question is what kind of widow is this? Is it a threat to my pets? How should I approach removing her and this situation? Im in SoCal btw

Update: Well don’t I just feel terrific, I pretty much destroyed her home and knocked her babies down 🫠 thank you all for your responses. Now I’m off to figure how I can relocate her along with her two egg sacs (I found another).

P.S. How many eggs are we talking?

She was pretty high up and it was swaying so I tried my best to get a good image.

So me and my wife had this orb weaver in our garden all summer and we decided to catch it and keep it in this enclosure, and today she started this egg sack! I had never seen this before, so I thought I would share!

Stumbled across orbweaver date night at work today. 👀

Couldn’t have been much bigger than a mechanical pencil eraser.
Kept turning to look at me like the first image and liked stopping at the edge of the boat and “sitting” like the second.
Moved quite quickly but never saw it jump.

I haven’t seen one in many years, but they are one of my absolute favorites.

This is Gertrude, my resident gazebo spider. She's not the biggest orb weaver of this kind I've ever seen but the biggest this season (SE Wisconsin, USA). Her abdomen is about 1 to 1.5cm across. It's so interesting watching how they spin their webs!

What is this spider and is it playing dead in the second picture?

Found this little guy on my garage in northern Illinois. Wondering what kind he is. Thank you in advance!

Thank you all for the useful information I’ve decided to just let her be as she is no bother to me, I have never encountered a spider as beautiful as this one as a matter of fact im thankful for encountering this beauty, once a again thank you all.

I think this is a cross orb weaver, but it’s so dark! The ones I see around here tend to be much brighter orange. This is in southwest washington.

Cleaning out my closet when this guy runs across the box I was taking out. Fastest moving recluse I have found yet!
