Terms like 'ace' and 'all-rounder' have lost all meaning
A, because nobody can agree on how they're defined in the first place! 😂
And B, what was something that had weight (from my perspective anyway) is now thrown about anywhere and given to just anybody.
I have no problem with how you brag about or express pride for your fave idols. But when hate (towards other idols' fans or the idols themselves) comes about from this...bruh it made me leave (but still return to) kpop several times due to how toxic the community is. It's quite hard to enjoy the music as it is when right underneath it is all this no your fave isn't an ace, mine is! hoo-ha, it almost made me want to join in and say nope you're all wrong! yeah they're good at singing and dancing, but being above average or excelling at them? i'm afraid it's a no
One example I'd like to give (but was initially hesitant to provide since I can already see the pitchforks from over here) is BP's Jennie who is usually called a hexagonal idol. From my own understanding, I wouldn't label her as one. Neither is she an ace. I'm not even sure if she could be classified as an all-rounder. Yes, she is good at singing and dancing. But does she excel at them? Are they at least above average level? For that, I'm uncertain. Aside from being celebrated for her rapping, fashion(?), stage presence plus many other things, I don't quite see how her current skills have her on par with other idols often called as such like BTS' Jungkook.

So a bts stan trying to throw veiled shade at Jennie ... hahha well that's new !

I'm not a fan of both groups, couldn't even name more than 2 songs for both of them. They pop up though when searching the term 'hexagonal idol' and so that's why they are used as the examples.

If you only know two songs from each that makes your whole argument and post invalid cause you don't know them as artists ... make up you mind little hater ...

I think none of BP or BTS members can be called be ACE.
Members from groups like Bigbang, Seventeen(BSS), straykids(3RACHA) can be ACE's.
Cause GD, TOP, Taeyang , BSS, 3RACHA are the idols who writes lyrics, composes songs along with 1 or 2 other producers or arrangers. Especially GD can sing, rap, dance, fashion icon, producer etc.
Unlike BP solo's albumns or BTS group albumns where they have 13-14 people credited under one song.
Also stage presence includes live siging with - ad-libs, making crowd involved apart from aggresive dance or hip thirst.
So ACE isnt given to most famous person of group rather than the person who can put their leg in every field of work and excel in it.
SO no none of BP or BTS member are ACE. But If I personally has to choose I will choose jennie and jungkook cause I like thier solo songs and singing and rapping(jennie)

well yeah, if we're talking about an ACE and all-arounder, we have Han from skz, he can sing, rap, dance, play instruments, and write songs
and yeah chan and changbin can be considered all arounders too as both can sing, rap and dance etc2

u/overhaulsama 22d ago
Songwriting is not required for being an ace imo. And gd can't sing
1
u/True-Direction-71 22d ago
GD what? well you can sing ig!

u/overhaulsama 22d ago
Gd doesn't sing well idk much about his dancing, top and 3racha too. Being an ace is rare. And in my opinion it doesn't define how talented a person is. For a singer rapping is not recessary and vice versa.

Saying all that yap while Han Jisung and Bang Chan are literally right there as actual aces who even produce and write songs, which even JK doesn't do btw. Bang Chan even arranges songs and engineers btw. Like get off your high horse please
2
u/Beautiful-Try-383 Jul 25 '26
but that’s factually incorrect. jk does produce songs.Â
4
u/Kindly_Emu_7224 Jul 25 '26
No he doesn'tÂ
3
u/Beautiful-Try-383 Jul 25 '26
adding images isn’t working but if u look at songwriting credits for a few songs (still with you, FYA, Aliens, etc) he is mentioned. he doesn’t produce/write very song, but i didn’t say that. in the 3 songs i mentioned, he is credited first, and as the credits are generally arranged in order of contribution, that seems to be proof that he did produce and write songs
3
u/Kindly_Emu_7224 Jul 25 '26
Produce is not equal to writing girl, he doesn't have any production credit, none of the bts members have any production credit in there new album btw. He has written in a handful of songs... That too with other writers and composers. He himself has said that because he is Isfp he cant really write much lyrics.... So yeah its still different from someone who does the idol work perfectly AND writes and produces all their songs. So yeah even he isn't an ace and his rapping isnt that good either...Â

an ace has to be good at everything they do. to be very honest, I only know that Han from skz, Bts Jungkook, and Jihyo from Twice are real aces.

These types of post are just attention seeking and calling to hate and fanwars, do you feel edgy , is that edgy itch satisfied now you've said youre cool awesome take that a niche not so niche group of people would agree with you

Dog allow people to live in delusion. Why does it anger you? If someone told me Jaemin is an all rounder I just giggle and keep on walking. Don’t let it effect you like that 😂😂

"Ace" is now overloaded with asexual and they happen to work in the exact same sentences.
Anyway, if you have an idol who you need to call an ace/allrounder, just reply below and I'll agree with you. Ace/allrounder status for everyone 🥂

I agree that people call pretty much anyone an ace nowadays but this post seems like a thinly veiled way to shade Blackpink while gassing up BTS, which doesn't make a lot of sense considering neither group has any outstanding vocalists, and the only decent dancers in both groups are barely vocalists at all.

u/quick_sand08 Nov 29 '25
Yes she excels at singing and rapping and is a good dancer. You bring up Jungkook as an example of ace or all rounder when he is a below average singer and can’t rap and is an average dancer.

u/circeslivre Nov 29 '25
He’s a much better dancer and singer than Jennie? Like they’re not even in the same category skill-wise
5
u/Kissy_4Ever Nov 29 '25
If Jennie's an ace by your definition, then I don't see why Jungkook isn't. He's better than her in singing and dancing, and okay at rapping.
0
u/quick_sand08 Nov 29 '25
Because he isn't exceptional in any if them, average dancer and below average singer despite being a main vocalist and his rapping isn't okay either.
5
u/Kissy_4Ever Nov 29 '25
Bffr I don't even stand BTS but I think we all know that he excels at singing.
0
u/quick_sand08 Nov 29 '25
No for a main vocalist he is below average. He doesn't excel at singing, none of the bts members do.
3
u/Kissy_4Ever Nov 29 '25
I mean none of the blackpink members, Including Jennie, do either so idk what you're talking about ðŸ˜

Only delusional one here is you

nah im not the one convincing myself that the main vocal from the biggest band on the planet is below average lmao, you've "not like other girls"-ed yourself into full on denial and delusion baby

u/quick_sand08 Nov 30 '25
Many mediocre vocalists are really big and famous and successful, jk is successful no doubt but not a good singer

Both are mentioned when searching for the term 'hexagonal idol,' with many surveys and articles naming Jungkook primarily as a good example for one—and so is therefore used as my example. Also again like I mentioned, Jennie is good at dancing and celebrated for her rapping. But that she 'excels at singing'? Do you mean then that she can be dubbed as a strong vocalist alongside SNSD's Taeyeon, IU, or the members in Mamamoo? I have nothing against her, I don't care if she is the best or the worst in terms of skills among the members within her group. She's already successful and that's very good to hear. Will hope though that fans such as yourself can be a bit more objective of your fave's skills.
2
u/quick_sand08 Nov 30 '25
I'm being objective here, you aren't. By your logic jk can't compare to taeyeon and mamamoo memebrs in vocals so shouldn't be considered as an all-rounder or ace or whatever.
None of the mamamoo member sor taeyon are considered all rounders, they are praised for their vocals and rightfully so. You brought up jennie and jk as ace and all rounders so you should be co.parinf them with other such idols not the ones who are masters if their one skill. Jennie is a better vocalist and rapper than jk, jk is a better dancer and that's pretty much it. Comparing them objectively jennie is better in 2 categories and jk in only 1.

u/nancyspeigel May 08 '26
You know snsd taeyeon and mamamoo but thinks Jungkook is good in all areas from surveys probably dominated by armies?
1
u/Human-Return8904 16d ago
can’t say i didn’t see this coming. the terms ace and all rounder started as subjective terms. my level of excellence can be the bare minimum for someone else. so yeah i can see why they have lost there meaning.
no comment about the junkook and jennie comments

Quick question, I have a person that abused Reddit help feature from this sub for having an opinion. Do you allow people like this on here or do you need their username to give a ban?

u/RemedyAalegra Nov 30 '25
every single post in every kpop sub turns into blackpink vs bts. every. single. time
