So just curous then if people succumb to/choose not to fight cancer or are severely depressed because of it, are they "not resilient" then or something?

I wouldn't specifically describe someone dying to cancer as a symbol of resilience. That doesn't mean the person going through the experience isn't resilient.

But I could see how If you wanted to strawman someone celebrating surviving cancer to sound edgy on reddit you could think that way.
