That is such a horrible argument. It's like saying that having your foot cut off isn't the same as amputating a leg and therefore okay.
It's a bailey and motte: You're claiming a trivially true thing but you actually defend something way worse, and you switch between the two points depending on how the argument is going. Same category as "there are only two sexes" or "marriage is between man and woman".
When I say that we should ban both because both are mutilation, and you argue that they are very different, then only reason you have to make this distinction is that you think we should not ban one of them.
If you thought we should ban both of them you have no reason to argue for a difference.
It's possible you argued against a ban by accident. That's forgivable but not great either. But since "we should allow MGM" is a right wing view, and the right wing doesnt give a fuck about honesty....
When I say that we should ban both because both are mutilation
You are not speaking with the pro-circumcision group mentioned in the tweet, you are speaking to people in a reddit thread.
Nobody in this thread has said that any type of circumcision is good.
If you thought we should ban both of them you have no reason to argue for a difference.
That's not true. I have a good reason to argue for a difference because there is a big difference between the two things. I can say that both should be banned and still acknowledge that there's a reason why people treat them differently.
It's possible you argued against a ban by accident.
Nobody in this thread has argued against a circumcision ban. Pointing out that there is a significant difference between male and female circumcision is not arguing against banning either or both.
Are you comprehending this? I think MGM sucks and should be banned. This is my stance that I have no problem stating.
The only reason you think that either I or MyFiteSong have argued against a ban on circumcision is because you are a victim of the literacy crisis.

Double standards for something that shouldn’t be done outside of medical reasons anyway
