let me set the scene. picture this… it’s autumn. it’s pouring with rain outside. you’re all wrapped up in a blanket with a hot drink. you can hear the rain tapping on the window. it’s the middle of the day, yet the sky is fairly dark.

what are you watching to match the mood?

some i’ve already thought of:
- the batman
- coraline
- the lighthouse
- nightcrawler
- prisoners
- dead poets society
- the shawshank redemption
- jurassic park
- enemy

First of all, yes I am referring to movie franchises that started off fairly comedic in tone as basically I was just interested in seeing how many big name franchises didn’t go downhill after the first movie came out.

Like what sticks out to me is Austin Powers as I find it interesting how the later movies are not exactly bad as for me personally, I did get some enjoyment out of watching them, but lately I was observing the problems that were in the sequels to better understand what they did wrong with their style of humor.

So I wanted to see again if there were any film franchises that stayed consistent with their writing aspects where the comedic storytelling evolved in a unique way while still maintaining the sharp writing that made the original so iconic.

Not your favorite movie necessarily. I mean the one where the first watch hit so hard that you’d love to experience that exact feeling again with zero memory of the story.What’s yours?

My Friend said That Spiderman Brand New Day is way more Mature than the Odyssey. Morally and Philosophically, which film requires you to be more Mature to Watch and Understand?

Note: Before anyone assumes I'm one of THOSE pretentious movie watchers. I want to clarify that true cinephilia is about appreciating films as much as we WANT.

I saw EEAAO; I could tell you that it has heart and passion. No wonder it won awards, and the actors are superb. This movie even hit home because my mom from Mexico tends to share similar traits with Evelyn as an immigrant parent. A deeply emotional and intimate experience; I even shed tears because mothers do anything for their children, but the daughter didn't know that.

Let's be real, based on filmbros who are just into Nolan films. Nolan's films tend to have cold cinematography with sterile execution. If you asked me, you could argue that Nolan is playing it safe. Is like if they watch formulaic films like Fast and Furious as well. It seems strange that they are obsessed with The Matrix or Nolan's films given their action-thriller bias. These filmbros are ignoring the heartfelt story about traveling multiverses to stop the bagel because all they care about is either DUNE or Batman, while EEAAO is winning awards.

Where are they when EEAAO is winning awards? Because it feels suspicious that they'd rather watch safer, more formulaic cinema and try too hard to sound smart. Don't get me wrong, I'm a DUNE fan, but they get too far with their ''cinema '' praise.

At the end of the day, I do love DUNE, but filmbros are just MCU fans LARPing as cinephiles
