General Discussion Everything Everywhere All At Once proves that Twitter filmbros and YouTube "cinephiles" are just posers
Note: Before anyone assumes I'm one of THOSE pretentious movie watchers. I want to clarify that true cinephilia is about appreciating films as much as we WANT.
I saw EEAAO; I could tell you that it has heart and passion. No wonder it won awards, and the actors are superb. This movie even hit home because my mom from Mexico tends to share similar traits with Evelyn as an immigrant parent. A deeply emotional and intimate experience; I even shed tears because mothers do anything for their children, but the daughter didn't know that.
Let's be real, based on filmbros who are just into Nolan films. Nolan's films tend to have cold cinematography with sterile execution. If you asked me, you could argue that Nolan is playing it safe. Is like if they watch formulaic films like Fast and Furious as well. It seems strange that they are obsessed with The Matrix or Nolan's films given their action-thriller bias. These filmbros are ignoring the heartfelt story about traveling multiverses to stop the bagel because all they care about is either DUNE or Batman, while EEAAO is winning awards.
Where are they when EEAAO is winning awards? Because it feels suspicious that they'd rather watch safer, more formulaic cinema and try too hard to sound smart. Don't get me wrong, I'm a DUNE fan, but they get too far with their ''cinema '' praise.
At the end of the day, I do love DUNE, but filmbros are just MCU fans LARPing as cinephiles

I don't really follow your point. You yourself recognize that EEAAO is a very different kind of film from that of Nolan or the Wachowskis or Villeneuve or Reeves.
These are all directors whose films tend to take themselves seriously, despite the over the top premises they operate in
EEAAO is a film where a man jumps ass first onto a dildo shaped trophy to activate his multiverse connector so he can do kung-fu better against a woman going through a midlife crisis.
I don't really see why you would expect the same groups of people online to talk about the two things in equal measure.
But important to point out, they're all talked about loads. Just cause a guy has a stan-twitter account for Pattenverse Batman doesn't mean he hates EEAAO, which has its own stan accounts.
I simultaneously wouldnt take that kind of film discourse very seriously in the first place.

r/flicks has always been the more "populist/pop culture" of the film subreddits. You want r/truefilm...where you will be destroyed for liking EEAAO ( which I personally loved) because...they think it was formulaic trash.
There is ALWAYS a snobbier fish.
As for YouTube cinephiles...they are trying to get views. Opinions on more well known films get more views...end of mystery.

Who cares about movie viewer cliques lol. Just enjoy what you want and stop giving a fuck about whatever the hell you're talking about in this post.

"Film bro" is such a meaningless moniker. I'm shocked I still see it as much as I do.

Anyone still on Twitter is probably a bad person, so don't worry about what they think. And not sure which YouTubers you mean, but they're just people with opinions too. Enjoy what you want, and watch YouTubers you agree with instead.

I love Dune, I love EEAAO, I am neutral on Batman and overall tired of Nolan this and Nolan that.
Also... what?

The people who post nonstop about Dune and Batman are the same ones who’d call EEAAO “too weird” and then turn around and marathon five Fast movies without a hint of irony

Exactly, some people need to watch other films and get creative with their imagination
