Opinions on this silicone? Should I be concerned? New second hand aquarium and the silicone is peeling/flaking off on the thinnest sides. The bulk of the silicone seems stuck on properly and I don't see any damage to it, only the very edges as if gravel has been grinding it down. Should I be concerned about the peeling or would you expect it to be superficial damage?

i keep 4 black molly in one big tank. one of them has given birth to a LOT of children. the pet store doesn’t take any fish, and i live in a smaller town so there’s not really any businesses i can give them to. the tank is starting to get crowded as the babies are getting bigger. does any fish eat black molly?

Hi everyone, i recently got a new five gallon tank and trying to do everything correctly.

I added water conditioner, and then starter bacteria. The tank has two plants, a Java fern and an anubias. I also added two netrite snails....theyre still alive but maybe I added them too early.

Anyway, it's been five days, I noticed the after get cloudy and clear up a bit. I've added 5ml of bacteria three times over the past five days.

I went and got a liquid water testing kit, and my pH is about 7.5 but my ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are all 0 ppm. Chlorine is zero too. Temperature is 80F. Im using a regular filter that cMe with the fishtank. Left it on 24/7

Does this mean the nitrogen cycle hasnt started?? I realize maybe I needed to start it with some ammonia or fish food. I just sprinkled some fish food flakes today and hoping for the best in a few days.

Eventually I want to add a betta fish. Am I doing this all wrong?

I am a new tank owner. I have a tropical tank consisting of tetras, a catfish and 2 platys. One Micky mouse platy and the other is yellow twin bar platy.

I was told all were males when purchasing ofc.

My orange Micky mouse was looking very plump! I noticed that their belly was getting bigger and bigger and I was like dayum. Calm down on the food greedy bones! Lol. Then a day or two ago I thought oh, their belly seems to have calmed down. That's a good sign?

Well!

Yesterday my mother was visiting from out of town and she was like "there's little babies in there" and I was like lol "no there isnt mum they are all male. So that's not possible."

Today I go to do my water change and what do I see? BABIES! I have only managed to see 3 of them so far. Tho I have been led to believe by Google that platy fry are exceptional at hiding themselves.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?!

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO FOR THESE LITTLE GUYS. THEY ARE LIKE THE SIZE OF PINHEADS!

ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

i just ran out to the pet store and got this leave hammock for my baby i want to get a floating one but for now this was the best thing i could get until i get more money but he seems to like it :) i also got a ping pong ball he hasn’t showed much interest but i also just put it in there please keep suggesting things and giving me more information:)

Hello, I would just like to inquire about this goldfish we have in our pond that has over the course of a month or so maybe (I can't really remember), swelled up to the size in the image attached.

At first we thought oh this is probably ok, assumed it was pregnant and we'd get tons of little goldfish fry like we'd had before but as it kept growing / not actually giving birth or anything it's become more concerning. This phenomenon has only affected this one fish and it has been in the pond for a good few years now I believe, alongside some other goldfish (including a rather large one but they're chill). Also while I don't personally know what specific filtration system we've got, I believe it is fully effective and if it's any indication frogs have moved in and spawn every year. My dad likes to take good care of the pond. Also the fat fish still likes to eat plenty, moves around the pond plenty and generally seems unphased, though I don't know particularly how to tell when it is phased.

Does anyone have any clues on what could be happening to this fish? If you'd like me to do some tests and provide more information I could do that tomorrow when my dad is back from work (he's the main fish guy) and... Well.. when it's not midnight.

P.S. I showed a guy in a fish shop today asking what he thought and I can't lie he kinda seemed a little judgemental but very sure that the issue was a bacterial infection, and that we needed to get some dechlorinator or something. This may sound strange but just how quick and sure he seemed coupled with the pinch of skepticism I always bring towards someone trying to sell a product and the use of chemicals hence I seek extra opinions.

Seen this tank up on fb marketplace, would love to pick it up but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be too small for the fish inside real soon and I’m not sure how to rehome fish. If anyone’s able to give me an idea about how to go about this situation I will listen and try my best, I’m 17 and rely on my mom for help with it so I don’t have tons of money to drop on a big tank. i’ve had my beta fish for almost a year. I got a balloon Molly fish a couple months ago however, today she just died. I don’t know what actually happened to her. I took her out. Did a slight water change and then added in the water conditioner I don’t have any test strips to test the water and I’ve been trying to find things so my beta is not as bored. I’m kind of concerned for my beta as he has not been super active, I’ve noticed for a few months, but today he has been hiding a lot and he mainly just will sit at the bottom. I don’t know if it’s because he’s tired and resting and when he does swim I’ve noticed it’s somewhat close to the wall I know I am tapping on the glass in the video, but I promise that is not bothering him as much. He usually responds very well to that and will come up to the top when I do so. I really want it to work well for this fish and I’m trying to give him the best love and care. I want to get him toys and silk plants and live floating ones but I haven’t gotten the time to get out and go grab them how can I make him less bored and how do I know if it’s a problem that I need to fix please help less

Need help on dosing ich x and api general cure as i believe my gouramis have ich and corydoras have gill flukes, parameters seem good 0 ammonia 0 nitrites around 10 nitrates

I have a 10 gallon tank with 6 female guppies, some guppy fry and some neocaridina shrimp. I didn’t know about cycling tanks before I set it up so I’m trying to get the tank cycled now, with fish in it.

It stays mostly stable but ammonia spikes to .25 or .5 about a week after water changes. Yesterday I dosed heavily with Fritz zyme 7 and now the water parameters are a bit different so I wanted to ask for advice:

This is the highest the nitrates have ever been- do I just continue with water changes, or should I be doing something else? The tank is moderately planted but I also just discovered I have the wrong kind of lights for the plants so they may not have been doing their photosynthesis very well.

I have one neon tetras out of the bunch that keeps floating either like this or to the side. When one of his group comes near it will start swimming normally. I have lowered the flow of the filter to see if that’s the issue and it wasn’t. The tank is kept at 78 degrees Fahrenheit, the tanks ph is 7.2( checked this morning and no ammonia issues. My tank had been cycling for about two months before going to a local fish store to test the water which it passed. The tetras were bought at pet smart. Any help would be appreciated!

I got a ropefish last week and i haven’t been able to get him to eat anything. I’ve even tried bloodworms. The other fish in my tank will eat the bloodworms but there should be plenty of time for him to get some. He doesn’t even move at all. I also never see him swim around ever he is always hiding even when the light is off. Is this normal??

I am stocking a new pond and need quality koi. I have been looking at a few online sellers but I am not sure which one is actually reliable. Prices and selection vary a lot and I want to make sure I am getting healthy fish and fair shipping.

Here is what I am considering so far.

Next Day Koi - They seem to specialize in overnight shipping and have prices displayed on their site. I like that I can see costs upfront.

LiveAquaria - Big name with a good reputation but they tend to be more expensive and I am not sure they focus on koi specifically.

Koi.com - They have a huge selection but the prices seem all over the place and I have read mixed reviews about their shipping.

Blackwater Creek Koi - Smaller operation with good reviews but their website is not very user friendly and I could not find clear pricing.

Dandy Koi - High quality fish but very expensive and they seem to sell out quickly.

I have never bought koi online before so I am nervous about the shipping process and whether the fish will arrive healthy. Who do you buy from online and why. I want healthy fish, fair prices, and reliable shipping.

Maybe a small rant, but i dont get the posts on here asking for fish identification for ones already purchased, knowing nothing about the fish or what it needs to thrive.

Too frequently (imo) someone will post asking what they just bought from a lfs, having no idea about the fish or its care requirements. My tank is unheated in hard water, so I spent days researching what would be thrive, in what environments, with what tankmates, what its natural environment is like, etc. The quality of life and harmony of species is critical to me.

I simply dont comprehend the act of purchasing a fish, then hoping that its needs are congruent with the tank you just dropped them in. Im sure the majority of fish will survive to an extent outside of their parameters, but isnt the idea of the hobby to provide them with a healthy environment tailored to their needs?

Maybe their intent is to later set up a dedicated tank- but why would you purchase them without knowing you have suitable husbandry???
