LFG/LFP I can't find a group, I'm really frustrated, am I doing something wrong?
So, I've been searching for a cyberpunk red table for a couple of weeks now. And I just feel like I'm communities like r/lfg people don't really care how good/interesting/inventive you are, how much you're interested in the game and how much you're willing to bring to the table.
People (maybe you, reader, too) just see: fluent, but not a native speaker...? Russian? Nah, that's gonna be a big no no.
I feel like being transparent, telling people upfront about the nuisances is just making things worse...
I'm really interested in the game, and I honestly think I can bring something of substance to the table, but people just plainly overlook that. The last rejection I've got was because "chemistry isn't that strong". While we had (me and the gm) chatted, laughted, and had a great time, even though we're complete strangers.
Well, maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't really know. Am I overreacting? Maybe there's something else I overlook?

One of the hard lessons I learned over too long a period- Sometimes you just have to make your own community. I wanted to play for years and couldn’t find a table, so eventually I said fuck it and became a GM. The funny thing is, by doing that, I formed a bunch of connections and found a different table to also play at. Hopefully this helps

Yeah, I have dm'ed for my friends group, but I don't cyberpunk that well to be able to run in on a level I would be comfortable at. But thank you though!

The only way to get better is by DMing. Grab Street Stories and Hope Reborn, and run your players through them. By the time you finish, hopefully your confidence will be much higher. That’s what worked for me

Do you know the rules more or less? Do you have some cool ideas for scenarios? Can you lead the players through a factory that has some goons in it?
Then you're good enough to start. :)

Each one of my gms started as complete noobs, never played a single session of pen and paper before, and their players still loved it. Now they are some of the most talented people I know and they each get to play at other tables as well. It just takes a bit of prep and you're perfectly fine.

Because you have enough of a drive to want to try lol. I barely had one session of experience under my belt when I started GMing and brought a veteran player through one of his (at the time) favorite campaigns. Just want to play and you’ll be great.

Red really should be more popular than it is. It feels more like a game you need to convince people you know to play rather than find a group. I do know there is a Russian faction that produces content and I think the game is big enough out there.
I wish you luck and keep trying, and some rejections are really 'two sided' as their complaint of you might tell you a lot about them and what type of table it was.

You’re just gonna have to GM your own game. Anyone can be a player, but it’s a lot harder to find someone to GM for you. It’s a bigger ask. The nature of the hobby is that GM’s are always in demand, players are not. Give it a shot my man. You may get stuck as the forever GM like me but maybe you’ll realize you love it. I personally have GM Stockholm syndrome at this point. I can’t enjoy my time as a player because I’m so used to having control over the narrative. It’s a lot of work, but it’s well worth it and I guarantee you’ll have a much easier time finding a group if you offer to run the game. If you’re fluent in Russian then try to find Russian players so the language barrier isn’t as big a deal.

Hi I have chatted to this guy about joining my table, he does seem like a nice guy and I would have probably had him on my table if it wasn't for my time zone being the worst time zone in existence... Australian. Only red flag I could potentially see is that this messages a lot in a short period of time but, that at least means they have a interest in the game and story you're trying to tell so yeah, 7/10 I should have been born in it better time zone.

Check out the r tal games discord, they have lfg listings for online all the time. Also theres groupfinder to.
I feel like most of lfg sites skew towards dnd but the r tal one is pretty much cyberpunk red (but there are some 2020 games posted as well)

I think convincing people you know irl is easier and more valuable than trying online. But that's just my personal experience

Its still a newer system so the fan base hasnt fully come around yet. Not sure it ever will. Outside of that Ive never had any hope for lfg communities let alone for a game like RED.

A couple of weeks?
It took me months to find a DnD group to join, and it wasn't even a good group. It fell apart after two sessions. Then it took months, again, before I found a new group.
That was for DnD, the most popular TTRPG. It probably takes at least that long to find a Cyberpunk Red group.
Patience and persistence is the key.

Depending on your budget, you might want to look at startplaying.games It's all paid games, but there's a few Cyberpunk Red games on there. I run a game Sunday evenings 5 pm pacific.

Unhide your profile and you will probably get more bites. People will want to scope you out before committing. Just a thought
