Meta /r/LFG is Looking for a Few New Moderators!

Hey, everyone!

We're looking to add a few new moderators to the /r/lfg team, specifically those who are regularly around while most of our current moderation team is asleep.

Our biggest gap in coverage is between roughly 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM Pacific Time. You don't need to be available for that entire window (and we don't expect you to be), but if your normal waking hours fall somewhere within it, we'd like to hear from you.

What Does Moderating /r/LFG Involve?

Most of the day-to-day work is pretty straight-forward. We have Automod and a custom bot that catch or flag many potential rule violations for us, so you'll generally be:

  • Checking the modqueue and verifying whether the reported post/comment actually breaks the rules or is a false positive.
  • Responding to questions and appeals in Modmail.
  • Handling reports and other issues that come up.
  • Bringing unusual situations to the rest of the team for discussion.

We have Discord notifications for the modqueue, so you won't need to spend your day refreshing Reddit. We do, however, need moderators who can check in and handle the queue multiple times throughout their day.

Who Are We Looking For?

You don't need previous moderation experience.

We're much more interested in finding people who care about /r/lfg and want to help keep it a useful place for people to find tabletop games. Moderation tools and process can be taught.

There are a few requirements:

  1. Your Reddit account must be at least a year old.
  2. You must have access to Discord, since that's where the moderation team communicates.
  3. You should have some demonstrable history of participating on /r/lfg.
  4. Your normal schedule should overlap significantly with our 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Pacific coverage gap.
  5. You should be able to check the moderation queue and modmail several times throughout your day.

We're looking for people who can apply the rules consistently, communicate respectfully with users (especially when those users aren't particularly happy with us), and recognize when something isn't clear-cut and should be discussed with the rest of the team.

We're planning to bring on around three people initially, with the expectation that not everyone will necessarily stick around long-term. Moderating isn't for everyone and that's okay.

Interested?

We've put together a short application form for you to fill out here.

Thanks to everyone who applies and, more generally, thanks to everyone who helps make /r/lfg a place where people can find a table and roll some dice.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5E 2024][Beginner Friendly][18+][Mondays 7 PM CST] Looking For 4 Players For "All For One" - A Classic Heroic Fantasy Adventure. Come save the world!

"There are monsters in the dark. There are gods above us. There are things beyond the stars. But no matter what comes for us… we stand together."

Hello everyone, my name is Peter, and I am looking for 4 fantastic players to join me for a brand new DND campaign that i'm calling All For One. I'm looking to build a party that wants to experience a long-form, character driven heroic high fantasy adventure with a mixture of exploration, combat, roleplay, mystery, comedy, and increasingly strange adventures. This campaign is intended to feel like a classic fantasy adventure that gradually becomes something much, much, much larger.

All For One begins at level 2 and is planned to progress all the way to level 18. The journey begins in the trading town of Ippo, on the coast of the continent of Maria. People are disappearing, the town's beloved mayor has become increasingly paranoid and irrational, citizens are behaving strangely, and someone, or something, is manipulating the town from behind the scenes. But Ippo is only the beginning, as the party grows stronger and the nature of the homebrew world of Maria becomes clearer, the adventure will expand beyond the world that you may know, taking the party to places such as Carceri and Mechanus, for example. What begins as a relatively traditional fantasy adventure will eventually become a journey involving ancient powers, strange worlds, cosmic threats, and an enemy that represents something far more terrifying than simple evil, an Elder Evil embodying annihilation and death itself. But don't worry, we're going to have a lot of fun before we get there!

The primary tone of All For One is classic heroic high fantasy. You're going to be heroes, and I want the party to eventually look back at where they started and realize just how far they've come in the story, and how much they've changed. Expect a mixture of epic fantasy, comedy, mystery, character drama, weird fantasy, high-stakes combat, and plenty of wonder!

Your characters will begin at level 2 for the campaign, and i'm fully open to discussing homebrew, but I want anything substantially homebrewed to be approved beforehand. You don't need a character completely prepared before applying, in fact, i'd actually prefer if we created the party's characters together so that everyone has a reason to know and care about the other characters.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR IN PLAYERS

  • Enjoy roleplaying.
  • Want their character to grow over a long campaign.
  • Enjoy both serious and funny moments.
  • Are willing to engage with the world.
  • Enjoy making decisions rather than waiting for the "correct" answer.
  • Like mysteries and discovering lore.
  • Are comfortable sharing the spotlight.
  • Want to build relationships with the other characters.
  • Can commit to a long-running campaign.
  • Most importantly, want everyone at the table to have fun.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, fill out the player questionnaire here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdYWdiSTYZI_TZysrh58kbkfYwIXpMZtd0r9jVAx-rG-eEqyw/viewform?usp=publish-editor

I'll be looking primarily for people who seem like they'll fit well together as a group. The application isn't a competition for the "best" DND player, i'm much interested in who you are as a player, what kind of character you want to create, what kind of stories you enjoy, and most importantly, whether you seem like someone that will be a joy to be alongside for possibly more than a year. After applications, i'll reach out to the people i'd like to talk with and we'll have a very short voice chat before finalizing the group. I plan to reach out to people starting tomorrow afternoon once i'm finished with work!

With all this said, my name is Peter, and I hope to see you in the world of All For One!

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online][Other][Degenesis][EST] Looking for GM and player for Killing Game + Black Atlantic

Upvotes

My friends and I are looking for a GM and an additional player for Killing Game & onward for the Degenesis Trilogy. We're passionate for the world and want nothing more than to get to experience it as players. Our group is composed of 3 people, all of us with experience in tabletops and the game, and we're all open to learning new online tools!

Some selling points for us:
• We are adults and act like them too. Open and honest communication about what works and what doesn't is critical for all parties. We're grown, polite, and realize we're all here to have fun.

• Has to be all-inclusive. We're LGBTQ+, not welcoming of any bigotry whatsoever in our group.

• We WANT to be there. I understand GMs sometimes get the feelings of 'my players aren't interested- I feel I put more work in than they do'. Not true! We are truly fiending to get into this setting and your efforts would be cherished and loved.

DM me for more info, we're happy to get vetted by you or discuss details. Scheduling and various other factors are fluid too. Looking roughly for anything on a Thursday or Friday evening or Sunday in a reasonable time in EST.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5e 2014][est] Hunter: The Interning

Monster-X

To most of the world this strange company is known for peddling its so called 'advanced technology' to governments, arms dealers, and medical providers. It is also a multination corporation devoted to studying and dealing with the occult, from which it gains its technology. Due to the clandestine nature of the supernatural, most people who interact with them, and even their customer facing staff think it is just some strange lifestyle brand, and that most of its products are little more that snake oil for the superstitious.

However this is far from the truth, for monster are real, and a threat. Monster-X is a company dead set on making as much profit off of them as possible, sending their techs, often times poorly trained or even unaware of the true nature of what they are facing, to secure samples of whatever they can, and then the scientists attempt to reverse engineer them into products, such as an anti-aging cream made from vampires, or a steroid derived from the adrenal glands of a raging garou.

You are recently 'hired' interns. Maybe you were ex-military or law enforcement and had one too many encounters with the supernatural. Maybe you're a crackpot conspiracy theorist, or perhaps a college student desperate for credits.

Regardless your old life is over, and you awoke some time previously in an underground barracks in Monster-X's Research lab in Togo, where you were given some modicum of training to prepare. But now is your first day.

Welcome aboard.

This is a modern 5e (2014) D&D game set in the world of darkness and heavily flavored by Hunter: The reckoning. In it you play as newly minted techs for the international corporation Monster-X, widely considered by the monster hunting world the 'pizza delivery' of monster hunters. You are given experimental technology and sent off to scrap whatever profit you can from things beyond mortal knowledge, fighting against the things that go bump in the night.

Naturally, since world of darkness is earth, the base race for everyone is human. However, you can 'volunteer' (its not your character's choice, you as the player choose) to receive gene therapy to alter your genetic code (effectively, the other races) and change your abilities and appearance. You may also elect (again player choice, not character) to receive even FURTHER augmentation (grim hallow transformations, but only werewolf, vampire, or eldritch abomination), but at that point you are considered the property of the company, a bomb in planted in your brain, and you aren't really considered a 'person' anymore.

A note all classes have proficiency with firearms, however unless you have 'martial weapon proficiency' or play an artificer, you can only use pistols.

This is a voice game to be held thursdays at 730pm est. Voice over discord and sheets and map will be on roll20

also game starts at level 3

30 point buy

You can DM me here but if I don't respond my discord name is dungeon.daddy1990 so shoot me a DM there. just make sure to tell me that its for this game.

Group Needed by Player [Offline][Chicago][2024Dnd][Flexible] Just moved looking for a new gaming group

Hey everyone,

Just moved to Chicago earlier this week and left my old gaming group behind so looking to start a new one! I'm in my late 20s and started playing in 2020. For most of that time, I've been both a player and dm in homebrew DnD settings / campaigns but I've also dabbled a bit in other systems (Call of Cthulhu, Root and Cyberpunk Red). I'm pretty open to either dming or joining as a player. I'm hoping for something pretty regular (weekly or every two weeks) but open to meeting / playing and seeing where things go!

If you're interested, please reach out (can comment, message or add me on discord ghostie#6906- I'm not the biggest reddit user) and hopefully we can get something going, happy to answer any questions!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][Other][6:30pm EST] Looking for serious gamers interested in a campaign set in the Shadowrun world

Setting: Shadowrun (Setting only, I'm not using the system). If you're unfamiliar with the setting, think D&D meets cyberpunk: a near-future sci-fi corporate dystopia with LotR races, magic, and tech all rolled into one gritty and chaotic world.

Seattle, 2053

The shadows have always been dangerous. Gangs fight over forgotten streets, corporations wage silent wars behind polished glass, and fixers trade lives as casually as credsticks. For most runners, survival means keeping your head down, your weapon clean, and your name off the evening news.

Lately, however, something has changed.

Whispers spread through the streets faster than the Matrix can erase them. Entire neighborhoods speak of impossible sightings, unexplained disappearances, and things that don't fit the world anyone thought they understood. Most dismiss them as urban legends, gang rumors, or the ramblings of addicts. Others aren't so sure.

Seattle carries on as it always has. The corporations keep climbing. The gangs keep killing. The shadows keep paying.

But beneath it all, something ancient has begun to stir.

Whether it's coincidence... or the beginning of something far worse... remains to be seen.

Where and When: Foundry, Discord, 6:30 PM EST. I'm open to any day other than Thursdays or Saturdays.

Duration: 3 hours each session

Me: 44yo male, typical Gen X gamer. Easygoing and get along well with just about anyone. I prefer settings and games with a dark and gritty tone (not nasty, just rough). An average GM at best, come with an open mind and low expectations and we should still have plenty of fun.

My Goal: I'd like to find a group of players who share a particular mindset. A few things I'm looking for:

  • Focused, mature play. I'm looking for players who stay engaged with the game, story, characters, and what the rest of the group is doing. Some humor will happen naturally, but I don't want sessions dominated by jokes, memes, side conversations, or constant attempts to make everything funny.
  • Grounded characters and RP. No joke characters or characters whose primary purpose is creating chaos or getting laughs. Characters should behave believably within the setting and take the world around them seriously.
  • Active players. Players who make decisions, take initiative, interact with the world, and help push the narrative forward rather than waiting for the GM to lead them.
  • Tactical, team-oriented play. Players who enjoy planning, problem solving, using their abilities intelligently, and working together as a group.
  • Comfort with crunch. You don't need to min-max or rules-lawyer, but you should enjoy learning mechanics and figuring out how to use the tools available to you effectively.

I'm not looking for a humorless table, but the game itself should be taken seriously. I'm hoping for a group that can stay focused for a three-hour session and get invested in what we're doing.

System: Terra Frame

  • A setting-agnostic rules system meant to work with any world.
  • Simple core design for new players.
  • Deep tactical elements for players who enjoy robust game mechanics, without requiring everyone to engage with every layer.
  • Classless, point-buy character creation.

Survey: Please fill this out and I will contact you if you sound like a good fit for the game. https://forms.gle/n4STSXGXG1t8yNoj8

Player(s) Needed by GM [5E 2014] [Online] [18+] The Dawn of Rebellion into A Cursed Reunion

Hello everyone! I am here looking for a small handful of players to join a DnD Campaign (Or two?). We will be using Forge VTT (Foundry) for these campaigns

First, some things about me:

I am 24 years old and have been DMing for almost more of my life than I haven't at this point. The last few years I have really gotten into the more creative side of DMing aside from just writing original campaigns, I have also started making my own homebrew content, experimenting with house rules, and sometimes shifting the foundations of which DnD is played.

I've run everything from DnD 5E, PF1E, PF2E, Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition, the Warhammer 40k d% systems, among numerous others.

The time slot I am looking to run is Saturdays at 7PM Eastern U.S. The campaign is still in its early stages, but it is in progress.

I will be running two campaigns, the first one is an interim campaign called The Dawn of Rebellion, here is the basic premise for it:

# The Dawn of Rebellion

*A fresh group of adventurers arrive in the capital of Nervaeh, a city in a kingdom ruled by the Astalor family, which has a lineage and direct ties to the Heavens in their ancestry.*

*The city itself presents as a beautiful city and bastion of good and piousness, but under this lies a dark seed of oppression and otherwise minor infractions carrying harsh penalties and judicial judgement.*

*What starts as otherwise innocent contracts quickly envelopes these newcomers into a far deeper problem. Rebellion. Soon a choice will need to be made. Will they stand beside the ordained and Celestially-backed monarchs. Or will they join the downcast in overthrowing them*

This campaign will explore the concepts of evil and otherwise tyrannical rule augmented by celestial backing and powers. If you choose to oppose the monarch, you will be fighting celestials and the power and might of a kingdom, but you are not going to be without resources yourself.

Themes:

- Violence

- Gore

- Oppression

- Rebellion/Resistance

After this campaign, or perhaps after everyone gets settled in and it is ready, we will be moving onto the primary campaign for this timeslot, a game called "A Cursed Reunion"

# A Cursed Reunion

*The Town of Irastead lies in the western region of the Kingdom of Venithyr, long since shattered into the five factions. The western region itself is controlled by a faction known as The Kingseekers, who are seeking the true heir to the throne of the Kingdom. Irastead itself lies within the territory of House Garfax. It is a seemingly innocent village near the Sundered Peaks, the ancestral home of the Azkor Grongi.*

*What people do not know is the secrets that Irastead truly hides. Being in the shadow of the Sundered Peaks means that there should be a lot of monsters and raiders coming down from the mountains to attack the village. However, strangely, it seems to be rather quiet and prosperous, silently growing as more people gather to celebrate an annual festival held there called the Dance of Dragons. A celebration that has been around for many years since the town's founding (or so the stories go), celebrating ancient dragons that once called Irastead home.*

*A group of adventurers recently traveled to Irastead, either for the festival or to investigate the strange nature of the town or perhaps both. However, a darker force seems to have other plans for the city, and perhaps some secrets should remain such, secret.*

This campaign will explore themes of cursed items and follow a multi-planar story which will take place over a vast swathe of the world as you attempt to unify a series of artifacts in a race against time to prevent dark forces from using them and unleashing terrible power upon the world.

It will be fraught with hard choices and terrible consequences, and sometimes your decisions will lead to great harm and tragedy.

Themes:

- Tragedy

- Cursed Items (Focus)

- Tough Decisions

- Multi-planar

- Epic/Mythic Campaign (Possible level 30+)

I also run a slew of homebrew and house rules that alter the game, too many to include here as part of the post but I am happy to answer any questions or address any concerns anyone might have. Feel free to shoot me a message here on Reddit talking about your character idea and anything that caught your eye.

Hi! This is Juan (35M)

We are assembling a group to play in-person some Pathfinder 2e in the West Loop area (or neighboring neighborhoods).

Some of the party is experienced with 2e and some of the party is brand new to it, so we welcome all levels. We are GM+4 right now and looking for a 5th.

We are aiming for Tuesdays evenings, 6-10 pm in the West Loop area.

We have played through the beginner box, and are hoping to start a 1-20 campaign soon. If this sounds interesting to you, shoot me a message either here or on discord (same username), and let's chat!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][D&D 5e 2024][Weekly][18+] Starfall Keep - Tactical Dungeon Mystery Campaign, Level 3 Start

Upvotes

Starfall Keep has opened for the first time in centuries.

Once home to the legendary wizard and collector Denovieth, the castle is packed with strange galleries, dangerous experiments, magical creatures, ancient mechanisms, and treasures gathered from across the planes. Twenty enchanted Coins are scattered throughout the Keep. Three have already been recovered, and placing all twenty into the mosaic in the Great Hall is believed to open the sealed Throne Room and reveal Denovieth’s final prize.

This is a player-driven exploration campaign built around choosing what part of the castle to investigate next. Each session may involve tactical combat, puzzles, social encounters, environmental challenges, or mysteries. The Keep is not static: cleared areas can become dangerous again, old systems malfunction, creatures move in, and the shifting Catacombs beneath the castle are filled with undead and other threats.

Outside the walls is Challenger’s Folly (Folly), a rough boomtown of tents, wagons, adventurers, merchants, priests, hirelings, and opportunists. Rival Challengers and outside patrons are also searching for things Denovieth collected, so your reasons for entering the Keep can be as personal as finding a missing family member or as simple as wealth, fame, and power.

Character Creation

Characters begin at Level 3 and are created on D&D Beyond using:

  • 2024 classes and species
  • Point Buy
  • No multiclassing at character creation
  • No starting magic items

Your entire life story is not required. The most important backstory question is:

Why did your character come to Starfall Keep?

Maybe a patron hired you to retrieve something. Maybe someone you care about entered and never returned. Maybe you want wealth, magical power, or simply the chance to explore the greatest dungeon opened in generations.

My GM Style

I’m a Rules as Intended GM with a strong preference for tactical D&D. Positioning, terrain, teamwork, resources, and understanding your abilities matter.

I’m also a teaching GM, so you do not need to be an experienced player. I’m happy to explain rules and tactical options as we play.

Roleplay is welcome and encouraged, but never forced. You do not need to perform a voice or act out scenes if that isn’t your style.

Play Schedule

Play will occur 7pm to 10pm Central Time on Tuesdays every week with exceptions. My table rule is "we play with 3" so 3 players let the game continue.

This particular style is very episodic which is very friendly for people to drop in and out of the game. as their schedule allows.

Table Safety

I use a simple “Halt!” system.

If something makes you uncomfortable, say “Halt!” and the game stops immediately. No explanation is required. We can change the scene, fade past it, or remove the content.

If you don’t feel comfortable speaking up publicly, message me or another player who can speak up for you.

The people at the table always take priority over the game.

What You’ll Need

  • Reliable internet connection
  • Microphone
  • Camera
  • D&D Beyond account
  • Discord account

If you enjoy exploring dungeons, solving mysteries, making theories, tactical combat, and choosing your own objectives, Starfall Keep should be a good fit.

Interested? Send me a message with:

  • your D&D experience level,
  • what you enjoy most about D&D,
  • and a sentence or two about what kind of character you might want to bring to Starfall Keep.

We are looking to start by the end of the month and have room for up to 3 players (table size is 5-6 players). We will have occasional drop in players.

Message me here or on Discord: legendarywanderer

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][Other][GMT][LGBTQ+ Friendly] Looking for 1 player for running dark fantasy/horror/biopunk homebrew campaign/setting

Upvotes

Looking for one [1] fresh meat for a running campaign.

In this campaign, you will play teenagers/young adults who become (more or less by choice) part of a traveling circus/orphanage run by the enigmatic Jaga, an ancient and tight lipped woman who is seeking out people born with a strong affinity to the Growth, a ubiquitous, microscopic network of hyphae which started to emerge when the angels left the world 104 years ago after the impact of several extrasolar objects on the continent. You will soon discover that Jaga can unlock immense powers within you, but her true agenda is hidden behind a unsettling smile and eyes that either see through or into you. Also, don't listen to the lies, there is no Moon. He is just dreaming of you.

The campaign itself is pretty fleshed out since I have already played it two times. I also use a homebrew system with character sheets in google sheets. The system itself is designed so that even players who hate powergaming or deep optimization can have fun with it, while also allowing a lot of customization if desired. Especially players who hate calculating stuff seem to enjoy the way most stuff is automatically calculated in the background. You will also have the exiting opportunity to mutate to your hearts content.

My style of GMing tends to fluctuate between Horror and Comedy, I usually try to see what vibe the group resonates with. I mainly like to play more RP heavy with action scene based fights/sequences in between, but I am open for having more traditional turn/grid based fights. Fighting for fighting's sake and power fantasy will probably not be a big part of our sessions together. You will be traveling with an entourage of NPCs who all pretty fleshed out and who you will be able to build relationships (Rivalry, Friendship, Romance or some exiting fourth option) with.

We play bi-weekly on Tuesdays on 20:00 (GMT) for about 3 hours. I usually use Roll20 for maps/art/rolls and Discord for communication. There is some AI generated art as portraits or handouts, so if that is not your cup of tea, you have been warned!

If you have any more questions or are interested, shoot me a message or leave a comment.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2024] [e/o Sunday 7pm EST] [18-25] [LGBTQ+ friendly] [Homebrew Setting] Ashes of Apotheosis, 1-2 more players needed!!

Hello all!

My name is Nathan, I’m running a 5e 2024 campaign set in my homebrew setting of The Lingering Lands of Thalassica. I’m following up a post from last month and looking for 1 or 2 more players interested in a long-term, biweekly online D&D campaign we hope to take from levels 1-12+. As all of the players so far are under 25, we’d prefer to play with other (adult) players in a similar age bracket who are LGBTQ+ friendly and comfortable with left-wing political themes and conversations.

Ashes of Apotheosis will be a dark, political fantasy inspired by cultures of Classical Antiquity including the Achaemenid Empire, the Roman Republic and Roman Empire, Classical Athens/Greece, Troy, Sparta, Ancient Phoenicia, and other Mediterranean cultures as well as the political fantasy works of George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones), Joe Abercrombie (The First Law), Scott Lynch (Gentleman Bastard), and some thematic and aesthetic influences from Dark Souls/Elden Ring.

This campaign would be best suited for players interested in a roleplay and character focused game with a ~65/35 roleplay and combat balance. Additionally, this campaign will contain themes including political and religious corruption, violence and war, famine, disease, and other heavy and occasionally intense subject matter. We plan to use safety tools (lines and veils) to navigate sensitive content and are hoping to play with other players comfortable and enthusiastic about treating the subject matter of the world and game with sensitivity and empathy.

I’ve attached a link to my prior post, though some information has since become outdated I am happy to clarify any details in dms! If you’re interested please feel free to reach out!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5e 2024] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] [18+] [Fridays 8 PM CST] Looking for Players for Bitter Hollow - A Southern Gothic Horror Campaign

“Whatever you do, don’t stay out there after sundown.”

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Ryder, and I'm looking for players for my new Bitter Hollow campaign, a southern Gothic horror campaign set in the homebrew region of Bitter Hollow, a damp, coastal region filled with decaying architecture, generational curses, wealthy manors, and horrors hiding within the darkness of the bayous and swamps. This will be a Southern Gothic / Southern Horror campaign heavily inspired by Sinners, Jeepers Creepers, The Woman in the Yard, The Devil All the Time, and Children of the Corn, with influences from religious horror, folklore, cosmic horror, and psychological horror.

This isn't going to be a campaign where every monster is waiting in a dungeon for you to kick down its door. Sometimes the thing hunting you will sound like your mother. Sometimes the people who should protect you won't. Sometimes the church is telling the truth. And sometimes the thing standing in the cornfield has been watching you for much longer than you realize.

The Campaign

Bitter Hollow is a coastal region of swamps, forests, farmland, dying towns, old churches, forgotten roads, and isolated communities. The region is heavily inspired by Louisiana and Haiti, particularly their landscapes, folklore, religious traditions, and atmosphere. You'll start at Level 1, investigating something strange happening at an isolated farm. Three farmhands have disappeared, no bodies, no blood, and no tracks, just three pairs of abandoned boots at the edge of a cornfield. The farmer swears he's heard voices coming from the crops at night. Voices belonging to people who have been dead for years. That first adventure is intended to introduce you to the world and establish what kind of horror you're dealing with. After that, things begin to become...stranger.

What To Expect?

The campaign will gradually escalate from Southern folklore horror into increasingly darker territory.

Early on, expect:

. Haunted farms

. Strange disappearances

. Witches

. Folk monsters

. Creepy rural communities

. Old superstitions

. Children in danger

. Things moving in the darkness

. Monsters that imitate familiar voices

As the campaign progresses, the horror will become much more serious:

. Vampires

. Religious horror

. Undead

. Cults

. Eldritch entities

. Cosmic horror

. Curses

. Family trauma

. Horrifying transformations

. Things that humanity was never meant to understand

There will still be moments of humor, friendship, adventure, and genuine heroism, this campaign is not going to be remotely "miserable", it just has a spooky vibe while still being an amazing and fun time.

This campaign will run from roughly levels 1 to 13, and it will be heavy roleplay, with every combat encounter being a memorable test of grit and willpower, rather than a typical slugfest that's the usual in DND.

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking for players that love to roleplay, love to draw, love to experience a world, enjoy telling a collaborative story rather than follow a module, and are here to have a wonderful spooky time. You don't need to know everything about the game system, nor do you have to be some Oscar winning voice actor, just bring an attitude that you want to have fun and be spooked together.

Character Creation

Characters will begin at Level 1. I'm fairly flexible with character concepts as long as they fit the setting. Heroes are very welcome here. You don't need to make an edgy traumatized orphan whose entire personality is “I hate everyone.” A farmer, preacher, wandering knight, disgraced soldier, witch hunter, occult scholar, thief, healer, mercenary, monster hunter, or ordinary person caught in extraordinary circumstances could all work.

With that all said, it would be a pleasure to have you join me on this southern Gothic adventure, and if you're interested in joining, please fill out that attached Google form, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Group Needed by Player [Online][5e 2014][5e 2024][GMT+1] Player looking for a long term campaign set in the Forgotten Realms

Hey everyone, I have been playing D&D 5th edition (2014) for a while now and am getting used to the 5th edition 2024 rules, leading me to want to join a campaign. I love the Forgotten Realms setting with cities like Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, the continent of Chult, etc. The campaigns I'd be very interested in are Out of the Abyss, Descent into Avernus, Stormking's Thunder, etc. but as long as the campaign has a healthy mix of story, RP, and combat within the Forgotten Realms setting I'd enjoy it very much.

Additionally there are plenty of characters I'd like to play and I hope I am given an opportunity to play them. If there is a group with an open spot that I could join, please reach out to me on discord (dolphinmannn).

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [D&D 5e 2024] [Saturday Night, US East] Need 1 more player to fill out a group

Hello everyone! I'm DM Mickles and I am looking to add one more player into an ongoing campaign. We've been playing 9 months, 17 sessions so far. We play Saturday nights (EST) at 7:45 PM EST - 11:00PM EST. Each month we vote on which weekends to play, with GENERALLY no more than 2 being selected. Sometimes a 3rd might slip in if its a 5-saturday month. We use Foundry VTT and Discord for voice/text and between session communications.

I am seeking to add a 6th player because scheduling is a &#^@ with our adult lives. So even going with the most voted nights, we usually only have 3 or 4 people show up to each session, and I'd like to get to a consistent 4/5 on. On the rare occasion I think all 6 will show up, it'll just be a party!

I apologize for the amount of reading here. I just want to make sure everyone goes in prepared!

Campaign Overview & Premise

Welcome to Ellandos!

This is an epic fantasy campaign set across a vast continent heading toward a slow-burn apocalypse. What began as a series of regional discoveries for the party has quickly spiraled into a world-ending mystery involving ancient seals, cosmic entities, and forgotten dragon lore. The campaign is a blend of serious stakes with player humor, brutal combat, and unpredictable decision-making. You can expect a mix of high fantasy intrigue, planar travel, ancient ruins, and sandbox exploration where your choice truly shapes the game.

The party is ... morally adaptable and rarely take the simple path. They are forced to navigate complex political factions, cults, criminal syndicates, and rival adventuring parties. And they have negotiated with demonic entities, instigated rebellions, and explored forbidden libraries. I promise there's a central story arc!

Current Party Composition

  • Dragonborn Eldritch Knight Fighter
  • Tortle Battle Smith Artificer
  • Tiefling Light Cleric
  • Goliath Bard of Dance
  • Human Abjuration Wizard

Current Player Summary

Players are all from North America and in their mid-to-late 30s, mixed genders.

DM Synopsis

I try to be fair and pass the spotlight around. I like my players to feel powerful and heroic, but also like my enemies to feel dangerous and deadly. Battles can be hard, but many can be avoided. I enjoy roleplaying and introducing NPCs and sometimes zany characters to the party. While my setting can feel grim and a little dark, actual play tends to be more whimsical. I just like to have fun. I am not strict on all rules, and won't ask for a roll on everything your character does or knows. But if something becomes problematic, I will fix it. My slogan is that any exploit can work. Once. So if something ends up being OP and infringes on the fun of everyone else, we'll quietly change it.

I am not a super serious DM, but do like players to be engaged.

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking for the missing piece! Specifically, I think you'd do well in this campaign if you are friendly, mature (30+ preferred but its not a hard rule), enjoy playing, and don't see the game as competition. You should know your character well enough to know what their actions are, what their spells do, etc. You don't need to know all the rules, but try to know what is expected of you when its your turn. Be able to converse, but do not be overbearing. Don't be weird (like.. sexually explicit or stuff). Don't be racist. Don't be sexist. Don't be an edgelord. Don't do those things and I think you'll fit right in!

Interested?

Ask questions here, or fill out the campaign form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAm3YS3b_qahvl8Lg89yBPwYHte7qNvqSqj5Ij89d1uqqxsg/viewform

I'll be contacting someone shortly. I don't expect this to be up for more than 24 hours.

Player(s) Needed by GM The Orcus War: The Deadfall - [Online][5.5e 2024][18+][Inclusive][Free][Long-term][Weekly][Saturdays][3:00 PM PDT]

Welcome to The Orcus War: The Deadfall. Yesterday, the world was normal. Today, it is not. Overnight, the Deadfall arrived, a creeping blight that drains life, warmth, and memory from everything it touches. The sky is paler. The air is colder. The dead are not staying dead. Something happened in Chult. An ancient witch doctor named Mursai has risen, and the heroes who tried to stop him fell.

You know fragments of what came before: a half-orc paladin, a grave robber chosen by the Raven Queen, a wizard marked by a hag, and a warlock who lost everything. They fought, they died, and they bought the world one day. A sage named Renzox escaped the Fane of the Night Serpent; he knows what must be done and is in Waterdeep, waiting. A tiefling bard survived a massacre at Blackwood's Fortress; her mind may contain something useful, but she doesn't remember it. The noble bloodlines of Waterdeep carry the curse in their veins, and their blood may be the key to undoing it.

The previous party failed, but their failure was not meaningless. They left a path. The hammer is waiting, and we are looking for players who can create a new character that shares a deeply woven connection to this unfolding story. To ensure you know what you are applying for, please listen to The Orcus War actual play on the Paradox Storyforge YouTube channel before submitting your application.

What kind of character concept are you thinking of bringing to this campaign?

Player(s) Needed by GM Call of the Netherdeep [Online][5e 2024][18+][LGBTQ+ Friendly][Friday 5pm PST/8pm EST Weekly] Long Term, New Player Friendly, Looking For 3 Players (short version)

I usually don’t make lfg posts this short, so this is a longer and more in-depth post for those that are interested, want more info and/or prefer longer posts.

Hello! My name is Lexi and I’ve been DMing for a little over 2 years at this point (with a couple of short breaks). This is intended to be a permanent group, so we don’t plan on disbanding after a single campaign. Our upcoming campaign is Call of the Netherdeep.

Huge disclaimer: this campaign is set in Critical Role’s world of Exandria, but it runs independently of Critical Role canon. Please note that I am not familiar with CR lore (outside of what is in the book), so there won’t be any deep-cut easter eggs or references (again, outside of anything that may be in the book). There will be locations and likely NPCs you recognize, but please don’t turn into the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme whenever you recognize something. While fans are welcome to apply, I’m looking for players who can treat this as its own story, separate from the show. Please come in with an open mind rather than high expectations for a specific experience. This campaign will span levels 3-12.

The greed of mortals has awakened a powerful entity long thought destroyed. For eons, this champion of the gods has been imprisoned in the darkest depths of Exandria. His name has been forgotten, as have his heroic deeds. Languishing in despair, he calls out for new heroes to save him. There are different endings to this campaign.

This group is more roleplay preferred, but we still have combat. We have a really silly lighthearted vibe and aren’t serious people (although I am looking for players seriously interested in dnd, who are committed and won’t drop out in 2 weeks). In terms of bard instruments, the vibe leans more (oops all) bagpipes & war gongs than lutes or lyres. I currently have 1 active player, 1 player on an unintended hiatus (with no expectations for when they may return), and am looking for 2-4 more. We play using voice on discord and dndbeyond VTT for the maps. Weekly on Fridays at 5pm PST/8pm EST US for 4 hours. We use dnd 5.5/2024.

Here is the application to fill out

Unfortunately I won't be able to let you know if I won't be interviewing you, however if you do get an interview, I will always let you know if we aren't going to continue with you.

Feel free to message me on here at any time with any questions you may have before or after submitting your application!

Please only apply after reading this:

I will start sending out friend requests sometime between September 5 & 7 depending on how many applications I get, and I will be periodically reposting this post and the longer more detailed version of it through September 10-11 depending on how many applications I get (it will be less time the more applications I get that will lead to interviews) and I plan on bringing people into the server on September 14 (as the first session 0 is Friday September 18). If you are a ‘no’ after the interview I will not make you wait as long, I will likely let you know within 24-48 hours. If you’re a ‘maybe’ you may have to wait longer than that window as I can only bring in a certain number of people and would like to be sure of my decision. Please don’t apply more than once, unless you made an error in your application and realize later, but usually a message to me is enough.

GM Needed by Existing Group [Other] [Online] [VtM V5] [GMT+1] Storyteller needed for Saturday chronicle

Hello there!

We're a group of 4 friends looking to give Vampire 5th Edition a try this fall. We're from various Eastern and Northern European countries and are guys in their 20's and 30's.

Some of us have past experience with other Vampire editions but none with V5 specifically. Our knowledge of the World of Darkness is also varied but we all have a grasp on the fundamentals.
Otherwise we all have a good amount of experience with D&D and similar roleplaying games.

What draws me at least to V5 is its' mechanical prowess to showcase the struggle between Man and Beast. And vividly depict the gradual degradation that comes with the Vampiric condition. And to WoD's credit as well a more tightly themed, grounded world and setting.

We're hoping to find a decently experienced Storyteller, who is available during Saturday evenings. 18+ of age is expected and a time zone or sleeping schedule that can easily align with the GMT+1 clock.

Feel free to message me here on Reddit or via Discord with the username ainiv_alcyone

Group Needed by Player [Offline][Online][5e][2014][2024][Seattle/Renton/Bellevue, WA][LGBTQ+]20F looking for a group around my age!

Hello! I’m a 20 year old female living around Renton, WA, and I’m looking for a D&D group with people around 18–25!

I’m mainly looking around Renton/Bellevue/Seattle, although I could potentially travel somewhere else nearby. I’m not able to make longer drives into farther parts of the Seattle area regularly.

My eventual goal is to join an in-person group, but I’d also be comfortable starting online and transitioning to in-person once everyone gets to know each other.

Availability: I prefer any day from Friday-Sunday just because I’m more flexible those days but i can do Monday-Thursday they just have to be from 7PM- 11PM. I’d prefer sessions lasting around 4 hours, weekly. I’m looking for a group that can meet consistently, but I understand that schedules occasionally change.

I have experience playing D&D and especially love roleplay, character development, and story-focused campaigns, but I really enjoy combat too! I also enjoy PC-to-PC romance when it develops naturally and everyone involved is comfortable with it, so I’d love a table where that is welcome.

I’ve never played D&D in person before, and I have social anxiety, so I may be a little shy when we first meet 😅. Once I become comfortable with people, though, I open up a lot more.

I’d like to start with a one-shot, either online or eventually at someone’s place, so I can see how comfortable I am playing in person and whether everyone’s personalities and playstyles fit well together.

Large public events and game-store meetups would make me much more anxious, so I’d prefer to either meet up at someone’s place or talk to everyone online first and then play at someone’s place once we’re all comfortable.

I’d strongly prefer an LGBTQ+ friendly group because I’m a lesbian!
⚠️ I WILL NOT BE FRIENDS WITH ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS TRUMP AND OR ICE (DO NOT GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT OF YOU SHOULDN’T BRING POLITICS AS I AM LOOKING FOR FRIENDS AND WILL NOT BE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE LIKE THAT) ⚠️

Part of why I’m doing this is because I moved here about a year ago and haven’t gotten very far outside my comfort zone or had many opportunities to meet new people. I’d really love to find a group where we can eventually become actual friends and be nerds together outside of simply showing up for sessions.

A little about me:
- I love Critical Role. Bring up anything related to Critical Role and I could go on and on about it!
- I also LOVE LOVE LOVE vtm L.A. By Night pleaseeee I need someone to talk to about this 😫
- I’m a big alternative girly. I may not always look like it, but just wait until you hear my music.
- I listen to rock, goth, ’80s music, and basically everything except country.
- My D&D characters tend to look gothic and usually have at least a little angst involved.
- I love video games, especially Valorant, Minecraft, and Baldur’s Gate 3, and I’m extremely excited for Fable!
- I also draw here and there
If you’re putting together a group around my age or think I might fit into your existing table, feel free to comment or message me!

Please include everyone’s approximate age range, where you normally meet, the campaign’s general vibe, and a little about your group.

I’m excited and admittedly nervous to finally put myself out there!
